We first introduced ourselves to Pizza a' fetta five years ago & still till this day eat here whether we're visiting Cannon Beach for a day or for a weekend. The menu selection of pies is creative yet overwhelming because each pie sounds better than the last: Smoked Basil Chicken, Montrachet, Roasted Aglio, The Princess Marguerite, etc. All of their 18 pies are made with their homemade sauce of garlic, olive oil & sundried tomatoes. Cheese is an option but not a requirement. Q. What if a topping or two on a pie from the list doesn't appeal to you? A. The pizza crew has no problem exchanging topping(s) to your desire. Q. What if your group can't decide which pie to order? A. The pizza crew has no problem building a half & half pie option (the greater priced pie will be the cost however). Q. What if none of the pies are of interest to your party? A. Really?! You can build your own pizza then. There's a half a dozen salads, four types of pizzas by the slice, a soup of the day, four draft beers & a wine selection to look over as well. Sundays & Wednesdays are their "movie buffet" nights in the upstairs dining room. It's all you can eat pizza, salad, soup & breadsticks (non-alcoholic beverage included) plus a movie for $10.00! That's right folks just $10.00. This isn't just a cheese, pepperoni &/or sausage pizza. This is pizza from their pizza by the pie list. It's from 6-8pm but arrive early as it does occupy quickly. Space is limited in this small pizza establishment so plan ahead otherwise a wait is in your future. The crew maintains their professionalism & friendliness from open to close. However long your stay is in Cannon Beach consider stopping by for a delicious pie. Hey I know you are in a tourist area, but can you rip us off just a little bit less? lol. It's expensive, $40 for a small salad and a large pizza. We ordered half Tuscany Chicken and half Combo Meat. The combo meat was edible, not tasty, but edible if you are hungry. The Tuscany Chicken I was looking forward to trying, yet what a huge disappointment it was. So cow feta is the bomb, in case you didn't know. But goat feta makes Betsy and her entire family want to barf, hurl, throw up, vomit etc...you get the idea. Not specifically theirs, but any and all goat fetas in the world. We take partial responsibility for not knowing that Montrachet was a type of goat cheese. But we also feel it's confusing on the menu, enough so, that we wouldn't have even thought to google it as would be easy to do. This is because the way in which it was written gave no indication it was even a cheese! If we knew at least it was Montrachet *cheese*, we could ask what kind or look it up ourselves prior to ordering. But when it says "our finely crafted Montrachet Sauce (oil based), Mozzarella cheese...." That simply makes it sound like some sort of oil sauce, whereas with the mozzarella you specifically say it's a cheese, even though most everyone knows what mozzarella is, unlike Montrachet. Do you see my point? Considering this cheese is offered on almost all of the pizza's it seems, I think it would be a good idea to perhaps indicate someplace on the menu that it is a type of goat cheese so others don't also lose money buying something that they may not want. This is a rather spendy pizza, not a $5 Dominos pizza you can just toss out, so naturally there are higher expectations in at least knowing what you are getting. I did express my feelings to manager James F, but was ignored. Had he not ignored me, this may have been a 3 star, for good service, but neither service nor food was good to us. read more

Let me preface this review with a little fact about myself: I am a self-proclaimed pizza snob. No, I am not from NYC. No, I am not Italian. No, I do not weigh 5,000 lbs. I just really like a good pizza, with a CHEWY crust, sauce flavorful, thin but not anorexic, and thick but not Chicago deep (gross). Our friend told us about this joint. I'm always excited about trying new places, boyfriend was skeptical especially about pizza because he's from the east coast land of "real pizza." I gave it 2 thumbs up and so did he! We were seated with our baby very quickly. Service was fast & friendly. Salad was crunchy & fresh. Drinks were promptly refilled and pizza was BOMB! I might add this was on a sunny, warm Saturday in a tourist hotspot so my mind was blown. We will be returning frequently! PS. I love their crust and you discover quickly why they have been voted one of the best pizza places in the country. Awful customer service. One star only because the server "Arlo" acted like it was a huge inconvenience that people walked into the tiny pizza shack. The only thing redeeming was the gluten free pizza. The younger server tells us to "pick a table". We sit down at a table by the window. Then Arlo comes over and asks us to switch to a two top " cause they're gonna get busy soon ". Umm ok wow. It's like 3:30 ? Second after my sister offers to pay for a soft drink but brought her own caffeine free diet he tells us he will charge a 10.00 corking fee lol. This isn't wine and we offered to pay for a drink for a glass of ice. So that was $3.00 for a glass of ice. Salad was meh. Warm lettuce with so so dressing. Pizza was gluten free and on point. We witnessed a family get up and walk out because of the heat and service. Asked for extra napkins and he brings two. The younger server was way nice and it was his third day Maybe Arlo can take lessons from him on customer service. My sister takes the comment card to fill out and Mail back and Arlo asks her if she needed a pen to complete the card. Really passive aggressive behavior. P.S. Your a server and You work in a beach town crawling with tourists in the summer you may want to consider another profession or take a class on customer service. Arlo made us uncomfortable as well as feeling like we inconvenienced him at his workplace. Like does he own the place is he a manager? Truly a disenchanting experience but I'll give snaps to the other polite server on his third day at work. Spending $40.00 for horrible service is never appreciated. Unbelievable pizza. We were in from out of town on business, and we ended up in Cannon Beach on a cold, rainy day in the offseason, a coworker and I stumbled into this place because the highly rated Irish place down the street was closed. Boy, were we lucky! The only guy working was the gm, and we were the only patrons at the time. He seemed a little bored when we came in and figured we would only want the pre-made pizza by the slice. The options sounded limited, so we went ahead and ordered a full pizza. We weren't sure what to order, so we just told him to make whatever he felt like. Best decision of our day!!! After asking what we liked/didn't like, the manager made us a half and half pizza with one half covered with pepperoni, caprese olives, salami, onions, pepperoncinis, and a variety of other delightful Italian toppings. On the other half, he drizzles the pizza sauce with honey before topping it with smoked bacon, smoked chicken, pineapple, and other rich, delightful toppings. We loved it. I think he gathered how much we liked it, because while we were still working on the pizza, he made us some prosciutto wrapped goodness as a post-appetizer. Again, we were incredibly impressed by both the quality and the creativity of the dish. At this point, we had become so friendly with the manager/chef that he pulled up a chair and sat with us for 20 minutes and we shot the breeze. If the experience was. 10/10, then the food was 11.5 out of 10. Absolutely amazing restaurant, and after being stuffed with gourmet food, we ended up with a bill below $50 after adding a substantial tip. Can't compare it with other restaurants in Cannon Beach, but one of my all time favorite pizza places for sure. read more

Pizza was so good... like some of the of the best pizza I've had. The only reason why it's not 5 stars is because we were in the area for vacation with our children, my 2 year old was having a hell of a time adjusting to sleeping in a hotel and was super grouchy and whining a lot. The waitress said passively that he seemed like he needed a nap. The restaurant is very, very small maybe 10 tables inside or even less, so I was already embarrassed and the comment didn't help that. My first visit to Pizza A'fetta was a solid one - we ordered a large pie (even though the $34 price tag for a large pizza totally terrified us - welcome to a tourist economy) and were happy with what we ordered. The next day, my sister went back and got a slice of pizza through the take-out window. She asked for a slice of cheese pizza with fresh tomatoes on it and was very sharply informed that they "don't do that". Confused, she asked for it again, saying that she just wanted some fresh tomatoes on top of the already-warm pizza, and was this time more rudely informed that she had to "order from the menu". Her resulting plain cheese pizza was barely reheated, like the cheese literally wasn't even soft up towards the crust end. A few days later my family returned one last time and sat down to order a whole #1 pizza, which I believe was called a "Smoked Chicken Pizza". In quick words, it was disgusting. The chicken on top was not smoked in any way, and not at all fresh - I've worked in food service for 15+ years and I know pre-cooked foodservice chicken when I see it. The rest of the pizza was undercooked with the cheese barely melted. We were tired and starving and decided to eat it anyway, and discovered that the second half of the pizza was so undercooked that the dough was raw in the thickest parts. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza. It was large enough to feed two adults and two older kids. The overall pizza had a good fresh flavor. The biggest complaint is the price. I think since this is a tourist destination, they are able to charge almost $30 for a 1 topping pizza. Good for a quick and easy meal. read more

The amazing smells emanating from this restaurant were ultimately a siren's call to a disappointing dining experience. To start with, the staff were terse, barely civil, and mainly absent, despite the small crowd. Our server smugly wouldn't write our order down and then got our order wrong twice. We had the Crab pizza, which was sparse in the crab department and extremely bland in flavor. The crust was ok, but hardly living up to the expectation based on its aroma. We thought they must have been baking something other than pizza crust to have created that aroma. Our Capriccio salad was ok, but boring, and dominated by the excessive balsamic they ladled on top of it. Our son loved his pizza, which, ironically, was their GF crust, and therefore not made by them, but which they gouged us an additional $4 for. They served our older kids small kid drinks, then never returned to offer a refill, but charged us for the adult sized price for them. When I challenged this, they said that refills were free, albeit apparently only theoretically, since they don't bother to check in on you during your meal to offer any refills. All in all, a disappointment and an expensive disappointment to boot. Won't be returning. read more

I would really like to give them 2.5 stars as my issue is a personal taste things regarding their flavour. I have had pizza all over the world. I have had some of the best where the Pizza Gods reach down and wipe your mouth, and some of the worst, where your mouth reaches down and feels like it just wiped something. Pizza a'fetta has decent fresh crust that is very NY in style (read fold-able), fresh ingredients and unique combinations, and flexibility in making pizza in half and half and customizing if people have allergies. The sauce is rich and hearty. It just isn't flavoured to my liking. Too heavy on the basil, but that is just my matter of opinion. My colleagues love the Thai Chicken pizza and rave about the peanut based sauce. Service can be hit or miss. Our visit had the immature "summer help" lass who was rather "grabastic" with the two Latino cooks who smiled wisely as she would play hit them and giggle. I know it sucks to have your tanning interrupted by having to hold a job, but please try love. And LOOK to see if a water glass needs a refill, don;t have the customer summon you from your playtime to have it done. A previous visit where the lead manager was cooking, had an attentive server who was kind enough to comp one of our guests who had just turned 21 a free beer (her first one...really, yeah, sheltered, huh?) He needed reminders about water refills, but all in all he was spot on. Remember, you are in The Peoples' Republic of Cannon Beach, so the prices are very moderate to high. They do offer pizza by the slice and a walk up window as well, so this is a smart move on their part being it's in a beach community. Nice selection of wines and a few beer offerings as well. I would give this place a 3 or 4 star rating if I just liked the food flavours better and the prices were more competitive with non Cannon Beach establishments. Quaint dining area with an upstairs room for groups. Can be loud if filled with obnoxious sugar hyped kids with sandy crotches from playing in the surf. Maybe my idea of a Robitussin Pops will one day take off for the wee kiddies (evil laugh) and this will no longer be an issue. read more

This place was HALF four star pizza. My hubby and I ate here tonight and ordered our usual - half black olive and half pepperoni. Totally cool- right? Right- as long as the whole pizza is cooked fresh. Apparently the hubby's order is much more common- leaving a convenient 1/2 pizza "pre made." My half of the pizza was piping hot, delicious, fresh cheese, amazeballs. The hubbo's half was cold, fairly hard, clearly had been sitting out for some time. The piece of pizza on his half that touched the olive topping on my half LITERALLY had a piece of pepperoni sliced in half on the edge- clearly showing that they had mod-podged our pizza together. It boils down to this- my half of the pizza was legit. My husband's half was old and clearly sitting out all day. For that reason alone, we give the restaurant 2 stars. It didn't feel good to feel like they disposed of their old pizza with us. read more

Eating this pizza tonight made me very, very glad that I'm moving back to New England. I couldn't live the rest of my place in a place that considers this to be how pizza should be made. To be honest, I would expect better quality pizza from a Saigon prison. It tasted like someone dumped an entire bottle of oregano on top of a frozen, store-bought pizza and then surgically removed all the sauce. Pizza a'fetta was the only place that didn't have a wait to get seated and I was super hungry so I went in. The crab pizza was pretty good but just way too greasy. Ok, we didn't have the pizza. We were just looking for a light late meal, a salad or whatnot. We ordered the breadsticks (ok, not fabulous) and each got a Cesar salad. The lettuce was limp, and browning, with an odd pink tint to it. It should NOT have been served. The croutons seemed to come right out of a box, which seemed odd for a place that makes their own dough (you have so much access to good bread!). And the dressing was absolutely flavorless. Which, maybe shouldn't have come as so much of a surprise after learning that it lacked anchovies or egg. The only thing keeping this from a one star is that the service was friendly and efficient. One word: overrated. We went in for some slices for lunch on a weekday towards the end of tourist season. The waiter/manager was friendly, fast and informed. That's all the good news I can report. The pizza crust and the tomato sauce was ok but the toppings were nothing you can't find elsewhere. The veggie combo was topped with tomato butts that had the stems not cut out. Overall, there weren't enough toppings on any of the three slices we had. The place is not clean enough! The all too familiar old pizzeria smell. There was a bunch of flies swirling around in the middle of the restaurant. The tabletops were wiped down but still kinda sticky when we arrived. They have a bathroom but it's labeled 'office.' Not only is that confusing to customers but it displays laziness on the part of ownership/management. Overall, a place capitalizing on Italian style pizza that apparently has long given up on quality. read more

All those who say this place has great, or even good, pizza clearly have no conception of what pizza is or can be. The pizza here is awful. They can print on their t-shirts how they are the "37th best pizza restaurant in the US" (according to some trade magazine IN 1996) but that doesn't make it so. Anyone who has had pizza in, say, New Haven, CT or Boston, MA can probably name 100 joints in each of those towns with better pizza than this. Indeed, I'd can name several brands of frozen pizza available in Safeway that are better than this. So, what's wrong with it? What isn't? Let's start with the crust, which is soggy and squishy and limp. It also doesn't seem to have been made with pizza dough but with some kind of white flour-based dough. We ordered a cheese pizza (because that's the best way to test a pizza place). I should've been suspicious when it didn't even seem to appear on the menu. Instead, there were all manner of elaborate pizzas. I asked about a cheese and the waitress was like "yeah, we can do that." Obviously the pizza itself is but a pretext for the toppings. The sauce on ours was too sweet. It was topped by a solid layer of gloopy cheese through which no red tomato sauce could be seen. And it had a ton of oregano baked into it that was totally overpowering. It was, basically, an unpleasant experience. Again, I can only wonder what restaurant those people giving good reviews were eating at. The service was barely adequate. I had to ask for a straw for my 20 oz. coke. The upstairs room was full with a party, leaving about 5 tables in a tiny room. Despite the temperature outside being in the 50s, the staff insisted on leaving the door wide open into the small room, resulting in several freezing customers. Obviously the staff are the ones they are most interested in keeping happy. Also, the bathroom is marked "office" and is right off the main room. How appetizing. We couldn't find an appealing lunch option in the "Downtown" area. It was around 2:00PM, and we couldn't seem to find a nice place with a good feel to it. Whether it's a great menu or a prompt, friendly greeting, I needed a sign. Pizza A'fetta is one of the most casual restaurants in the area--small indoor seating area, outdoor area upstairs (nice), and a Takeout Window. The menu looked good, so we went in. We were greeted immediately (unlike the other restaurants nearby) and off to a great start. I ordered a half caesar and a slice of triple cheese. The caesar dressing was very simple but good. The pizza reminded me of the thin crust pizza we had in Italy. It could have been more crisp and the sauce was a bit too salty for me. The service was warm and it seemed like everyone really enjoyed working there. Refreshing. read more

As everyone else can attest to, this is a great little pizza place. We just stumbled across this place on a mid-week trip to the coast. I had the day off, so we decided to take the dog to the beach to play. Cannon Beach was eerily quiet that day, and about mid afternoon we got a little hungry. Our usual haunt, Bill's Tavern, was closed at that time, and in walking down Hemlock St, we saw the sign for Pizza A'fetta and an offer of a lunch special, so we thought we'd give it a try. It's decently priced, and the pizza was surprisingly good!! The salad, too! If I remember right, it was like $6 for a generous slice of pizza, a side salad, and a drink. Nice! As we were leaving, I noticed the plaque on the wall with an article about how Pizza A'fetta is one of the top 50 pizza places in the country... and for good reason! Yeah, I'm a fan. The one odd thing I noticed were the baggies full of water hanging over the door. So I asked... and then the guy pointed at the sign at the side of the door with an arrow to the baggies, and I felt stoopid as I'm probably the 100th person to ask about them even though there's a big sign explaining them. Yes, as you guessed (and as my wife tried to tell me), they are to ward off flies. Really? Does that work? Hanging clear bags of water wards off flies and insects? I've heard of jugs of water put in a person's lawn to keep the dogs from pee'in in their yard, but baggies of water for flies? Apparently, the answer is... well, 'maybe'. Traditional hand-tossed gourmet pizzas with authentic peasant crust, homemade flavorful sauces, fresh selected ingredients. Wow what more could you ask for... This place is good. The pizza is not at all greasy and it is so fresh it will slap you in the face..... True at the beach you may want seafood but you have to try this place. The never ending search for truly great pizza on the coast continues. We were headed to Manzanita for the weekend on a Friday night, and the family agreed Pizza was the way to go. We parked and came in to the restaurant. I guess this is still the off season, because the upstairs seating area was closed, so this is for the downstairs restaurant. The dining area downstairs is small, with several tables crammed in. They have four chairs for the most part, but the tables are very small, and between the kids coloring and crayons, the drinks, the plates, and everything have to fit, the risk of spills from the kids was high and the constant juggling of table contents got a little bit old. We found the tables cramped and I kept bumping my wife with my elbow trying to eat crammed between her and a wall. I would tolerate this no problem for excellent pizza, but more space would have been nice. They have kids activities and crayons which they brought out promptly. We ordered some beers, not much selection but enough, a small cheese pizza, and a spinach salad. The spinach salad was good, nothing special, but it was solid, and served with the appropriate amount of dressing on the side. We also got some bread sticks, they came out piping hot with some marina sauce that appeared to be the pizza sauce. Bread sticks were also decent. The pizza then showed up and was too hot to eat or serve. Not really problematic, but does take some patience to let it cool for ten minutes. As the pizza sat on the riser tray in front of me, I noticed that there was a bit of grease pooling on the cheese. Finally, the pizza was cool enough to be served. The crust was thick and got progressively thinner towards the center of the pie. This essentially makes this pizza knife and fork pizza, you can't easily eat it with your hands. The pizza itself was hearty, but it was not fantastic. It was just OK. The sauce was OK, the crust was OK, the cheese was OK. We did not finish the whole pie, took two slices with us, and no one wanted to eat them later, not even the kids. Our server on the other hand was awesome. It appears the whole place is staffed with teenagers, but our server did a find job, keeping our water filled and checking on us though not so much as to be too much. Service definitely bought them another star in my book. If you happen to be staying in Cannon Beach and have to have pizza, looks like you have found your only option, but I would just make one from scratch if possible. I would not go out of my way to come here. I might try it again, but I can't see a second visit changing on my rating. read more

We stumbled upon Pizza a'fetta while strolling the boutique lined shops of Cannon Beach. This small shop is on discreetly tucked away in a courtyard of shops. We bought pizza by the slice for around $3-4/slice. The varieties for pizza by the slice was limited to triple cheese, pepperoni, and the daily special (for us, it was sausage). We were all happy with the taste, size, and price of our NYC style pizza. Nothing to Instagram about, but still a good, quick stop for a bite to eat! read more

After a long day of driving from Vancouver island to Cannon beach, we were salivating for pizza when we put in our pizza order at this establishment. We were so hungry I was sure the pizza would taste incredible no matter what. I was wrong. The dough is thick and they have no options for thin crust=minus one star. The toppings were a little off...giant crunchy pineapple rings on the Hawaiian tasted funny and the thai chicken was more giant garlic cloves than pieces of chicken=minus another star. I really don't like to blame restaurants for illness/nausea...but after eating their pizza, which was full of grease, I tossed and turned all evening trying desperately to digest=minus a final star. GF friendly. I let them know that I needed a GF pizza and asked about cross-contamination and they said other than the ovens & flour in the air they separate everything. The crust is pre-rolled from a Portland company and was better than some pizza I've had pre GF days. They said they used different set of ingredients, and even using the same oven used a separate pan. I didn't have any issues with it. Was a $4 up charge for GF, but a great option to have out here and a very understanding staff that was happy to do what they could to avoid cross-contamination. Thank you! read more

Six words: Fisher Price My-First-Pizza-Pie. Dude, this place sucked. The sauce was sickly sweet and overly seasoned with basil and oregano. Our waiter sucked too. Major attitude in general. And pretended I had 9 heads when I asked for red wine vinegar instead of balsamic for my house salad. Really wanted to like this place. Stopped on a whim while coming through Cannon Beach to check out the seaside. Servers were great - friendly enough and accommodating. A little sarcastic, which could have been off putting. But unfortunately that's about all I have that is positive. My husband and I ordered an order of breadsticks, and then a 14inch pizza. I asked for pineapple on my half and my husband requested bacon and green pepper for his half. Well, our pizza came - no breadsticks - and my half was Hawaiian (pineapple and Canadian bacon), instead of just the pineapple I ordered. Not a big deal and thought I would just eat it anyway, rather than trouble them and make a fuss. However, the Canadian bacon was so plentiful I started taking it off. My husband agreed with me when I said I thought the pizza was undercooked. The middle was very soft and the Canadian bacon had a bologna texture - floppy almost. In my opinion, Canadian bacon should be a little more cooked and tender. Pretty much right after we paid and left (breadsticks never came), I felt a little sick. Mystified at the negative reviews! Every time we're in Cannon Beach, this place is a must for us. The pizza is to die for. Most recently, we came in for lunch. This was the day after the 4th, and the take-out line was too long so we decided to see if they had any tables. The waiter quickly prepared a table for us. We ordered three pieces of pizza and a Greek salad to share. They even brought the salad on separate plates. Great salad. Their salad dressing is so good! The pizza is amazing too. It's the best crust ever. Perfect thickness/thinness, chewy, and crispy. Also, my boyfriend usually talks me into stopping here a second time on our way out of town. So, three HUGE pieces of pizza, a salad, and a beer, all for under $25. Love this place. read more

Two stars because the meats and cheese were really good. The crust had no flavor and was a bit leathery... We also ordered a Caesar salad and it consisted of nothing but iceberg lettuce (which had been rinsed, but not drained of the excess water), mini croutons, a couple of capers, and some Parmesan. The dressing was so watery, we thought it may have turned. It wasn't. But I wouldn't call it dressing. I would call it white pepper water. 14" pizza was $23. Want a bigger pizza? How about three more inches for ten more dollars...? The salad was $8. Altogether, we paid $31 for this disappointment of a dinner. I would have been better off getting a frozen pizza and a salad from McDonald's. At least I would have known what to expect for my money and save a few bucks. read more

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I got here around 9:40, their hours on their door say open until 10 on Saturdays, and the door was wide open. I went in, and the woman tells me they are closed, but check at their window to see if they will serve me. I say ....okay. I go to the counter and sure enough they are closing. The guy won't cook me a fresh pizza even though there are more customers behind me trying to get food--they are closing. And I have no idea why. He says he can sell me some individual slices--since this is one of the few places still open (but apparently not even actually open) I grudgingly accept so that I have dinner. I get two slices of veggie pizza. The only vegetarian option they have left. The pizza I receive is who knows how old, and is barely warm... I took it back to my hotel to microwave. The sauce tasted like bad canned sauce that someone threw too much thyme in... It was really not "award winning" pizza OR service. I just really don't see what all the fuss is about. For the price the pizza should be better. It's about twice the price of the pizza place down the street. Even if the pizza was halfway decent I have no desire to return to a place that turns down customers while they should still be open........ read more
