    Crab cake special
    Gene W.

For Father's day, we were near Manzanita on the Oregon Coast. Not a lot of choices for a good sit-down meal but this is a decent one. Big note! Check hours even on weekends, cuz many places close before 6 pm, but thankfully Mama Mia's closes at 8 or 9. Entrees ranged from $20 to $40, which might seem pricey but this is a tourist & seafood area. Most items were successful with the Italian selections being the best (e.g., meatballs, lasagne) & the seafood being meh. Service was slow but attentive and location was nicely situated along the riverfront. Desserts looked & smelled great but we were stuffed so we didn't partake. Dining area isn't large so on busy weekends, be prepared to wait for a table & your food.

    Bread sticks with cheese.

Pizza was pretty good....7.8. The bread sticks were pretty much double the price to add cheese on top, could have done that at home. Also, automatically added gratuity on our to go order. Wasn't told about this so it was kind of a what the hell moment. We would have tipped but adding it and not telling us kinda sucks. Staff was super friendly, beautiful location and food was solid. I would recommend just be aware of automatic gratuity and skip adding cheese to your breadsticks.

Special of the night. Spicy prawns over rice pilaf

Didn't get a photo of the crab cakes because we ate them too fast. They were packed with crab and fabulous! Both meals were top notch and the service was excellent. We would have ordered the apple pie dessert that many were eating but we were too full. Next time!

Outdoor patio next to river view

Where do I start, this was a gem in Nehalem, Mama Mía , has a great outdoor patio that sits next to the river. Great view, even better food. We ordered a pizza and salad. The Pizza was the star, lots of veggies and meat, nice red sauce and a buttery crust. The Ceasar salads were ok. The drinks were great and the staff was Super friendly. They have a nice variety of Italian food, the portions looked ample. They have a nice wine list as well. I will be visiting this great spot again.

    Pizza and meat balls

Paid 55 bucks for pizza and meat balls . Meat balls not bad but 14 dollars for 2 meats balls seems like a rip off to me . I asked for a medium pizza was charged for a large that was 32 bucks . Pizza that has no taste what so ever . Also was changed a 9 dollar tip ( I guess was for the to go order). I think I could have had better dinner if I bought a frozen pizza at Walmart

Chef Debby lent me her own glasses...her service matches her food genius!

The weekend where nearly nothing and yet things worked out better than if it had been planned. The list is long but it's summed up best by saying this trip in large part was centered around a specific restaurant I've been wanting to eat at for a couple years. Turns out they're closed...perhaps indefinitely. Had to call audible and ended up at Mama Mia's in Nehalem. At this point so many things had gone sideways so I was over the moon when Debby, the owner greeted me personally. After an amusing conversation, mid-beer no less she told me that I needed to go a few doors down to Buttercup for some of their homemade ice cream. Before I could protest she said that she would hold the ice cream in her freezer until the meal was over, so ice cream I did procure. I got a Vietnamese Coffee and a Pineapple Allspice...which were amazing. Essentially everything great you enjoy about homemade with really delicious and interesting flavors. Side note, forgot to mention I'd forgotten my glasses which makes menus fun so Debby offered me her own pair, hence the stylish selfie in stylish pink frames. When I get back to Mamas there is a custom app waiting at my place because Debby is an amazing chef. Not only was it fantastic, but she knew it was needed which shows how much she cares. I wish I got pictures of her spinach and herb lasagna because it was the best lasagna since I was last in Italy. In fact, lasagna isn't a favorite of mine but this was money. Finally, Debby gave solid breakfast recommendations for the next morning. One was Wanda's and the she said we also needed to check out Yolk just up the road because they had the best French toast. I consider myself a French Toast snob and theirs belongs on the Mt Rushmore. It has this sweet and crunchy exterior with the custard rich soft interior. As luck has it, it's Debby's birthday tomorrow so I hope you'll welcome me in wishing her a very happy birthday. Happy Birthday Not the weekend I planned, but the weekend I needed!

She suggested the beef medallions with mushrooms, so we got that, as well as the house lasagna. Both were absolutely delicious! Lasagna is his all time favorite - and what his mother would have made him if we had been able to make it back East for his birthday, (but we got stormed out). I was thrilled that he thought this was just as good. I don't do mushrooms but can maneuver my way around them (which means picking them out at putting them on my boyfriends plate). The restaurant is charming and intimate and decor very much takes you from Seaside, OR to any small town in Italy (or Little Italy in NYC). Maria was our server (according to the receipt) and she was awesome! She was personable, and spent time visiting with us and telling us the history of the restaurant. She also helped me be sneaky and hid the little birthday cake I snuck in my bag and hid it in back, then had brought it out later; adding a bunch of ice cream to it - and got the other restaurant guests to suing Happy Birthday to him. My boyfriend is fairly private so this intimate setting and delicious food, was exactly what he wanted and a wonderful surprise for him.

We were seated and served right away, which is always nice. Our server was very pleasant and took good care of us throughout our visit. The food was good, but didn't impress me as much as it did on our last visit. I had carbonara, which is always my go-to baseline meal, and it wasn't bad, tasted ok, but didn't blow me away at all. My wife did enjoy her dish, however, and our drinks were very tasty too. It might have just been me, so I'm not going to say don't go here, you absolutely should, because this is probably the most authentic Italian you're going to get in this area and it's worth a visit!

You can watch the bar pilots head out to navigate the ships to the Pacific. It was my birthday and somehow we got one of these special tables. Service was perfect. I didn't get anyone's name, but when we put my name in and came back at our call time, we walked in and the woman, walking through the restaurant, said, "Hey, Mindy." A nice touch. Our server was also just right. I got the Negroni melone because I'm a sucker for Negronis. It was decent, though it would have been much better with a gentleman's cube. The hubs got a blood orange cocktail that was really yummy. We started with the ricotta and preserved tomato crostini, which was excellent! Hubs ordered the sablefish and I ordered the ravioli with chard. Both were fantastic! The sablefish was exactly, perfectly cooked. It had skin on, but easy to eat without if you're not into that. Ah, so good! The ravioli was so delish! The only thing missing was a sip of limoncello at the end of the meal, which you'd receive in Italy, but otherwise deliziosa!

We heard that the place usually is very crowded and the wait can be long. So we tried to get there earlier for dinner. Positives: -the food was once again amazing. I can see why it's crowded and for good reason. The spot is a little smaller and probably the best Italian spot in town. We had meatballs last time, I remember it and it was hard to order something else this time. I got the lamb and my wife got beef ragu. We also ordered lasagna and the deviled eggs. -the prices were reasonable which is why we ordered so much. -the food was so good that we surprisingly finished everything we ordered. My lamb wasn't too gamey and the meat was extra tender. My pasta was a little undercooked. The lasagna was very meaty and it had an herby seasoning to it. I would say it's the best lasagna I've ever had. The deviled eggs were very good too and at a great price. You also get free bread which was also good. Negatives: -the wait might be long, but it's definitely worth the wait Overall 5/5 We will definitely be back on our next Astoria trip. It's a must for us.

As I've stated in a previous review, I am no photographer, but this photo had to be taken so I had any evidence that I finally had an opportunity to try what others kept telling me about. Geraldi's has been around for as long as I can remember. I've been in Yamhill county for the last 10+ years and had been to their first location on 3rd street here in Mac. I faintly remember eating there before and recall the food being good, I mean pizza is never the wrong answer right? Well now, across from Linfield University, they didn't just relocate... they reintroduced themselves as some of(if not the) best food in town! When we first opened the door to the restaurant, we were met with nothing short of amazing smells, smiling faces and an all around welcoming environment. We looked over the menu but I knew regardless of what I or my wife chose, we wouldn't be disappointed, and I couldn't have been more right. Our minds were made up, so I went to order, and If I recall correctly, I was talking to the owner/manager..? I can't say exactly and for that I apologize. But nonetheless, the gentleman nothing short of friendly and respectful which I truly appreciated considering there were phone calls left and right, which I assume were more customers placing orders. And yet while this is happening, I can see the entire staff was in synch, not missing a step with preparing ingredients, making orders and helping those who had a question or needed to place their own order in store. Our order. I got a Spicy Geraldi, a cold sandwich but I was asked if I'd like it toasted which I agreed to trying (a must, I promise). Next, a slice of pepperoni pizza, a slice of cheesecake, my wife's Chicken fettuccine Alfredo and a soda, which he was nice enough to comp an extra cup, no charge. By no means was that required but a small, friendly gesture which is much appreciated. Now, while the photo I took doesn't display the cheesecake, I can say with no hesitation that everything I ordered and tried at this restaurant is the reason I've become a new regular. I have family out of state who often visit, as well as friends who come by every now and then. Why is this important to say? Because this is the restaurant I'll recommend to any and everyone. When I hear the question: "where's a good place to eat?" My answer will now be: Geraldi's. This short story of a review doesn't come lightly. While I'm no big bad food critic, but just a local, I felt this restaurant, this food and those who run this restaurant deserve such praise for being above and beyond what they have to offer for the town and its surrounding area. A 10/10 in my book.
