I always love how you can see your pizza being made at places like this. I was very simple and got a cheese pizza with black olives. The pizza came out fast and was nice and hot! I also like how this place has booths that you can sit in... I feel like most places don't have booth just tables, so I appreciate that. The hand washing station, next to the fountain drinks and beers on tap, is very cool and keeps little kiddos occupied. I have never seen this, so this was very cool. Gave this place another try. Still not good. When we got there, the staff just stared at us for a minute. Eventually someone walked over and slowly took our order. It took forever for them to make our pizza, and they still are VERY stingy with their toppings. (Unlike LIT, where they whip out those pizzas and are quite generous with the toppings). Another turn off, CHEESE counts as a topping. What's that about? Just allow 6 toppings and don't count cheese as one. Also, the pizza was not cooked well (veggies still relatively raw). Nah, in fact I'll keep it at a 4 until I get a few more visits to this fine establishment to determine consistency. We got a Fig-n Awesome pizza and a BBQ Chicken pizza: Their pizza crust has a nice chew, not too thick or thin, helping hold toppings well (other places in town have a problem with that.) The toppings we had were fully cooked and yummy, and the sauces on our pizzas were applied lightly as to not overpower the rest of the flavors going on (other places in town have a problem with that.) My patience was rewarded on this first visit as it took about 10 minutes from payment to pizza. We ordered the bbq chicken and the boucherie cajun pizza. I had the boucherie pizza. It was VERY good and featured ghost pepper cheese which was mildly spicy. This place is legit and that's how I'm starting this review off. They recently just opened and I have seen a coworker/friend post about how good it was at the other location outside of BR so when they opened here I had to go try it out. Worth it. They have a beer wall (is this the new thing with all the new restaurants?) and kiosk you can order at without talking to anyone. A nice option if you don't want to be bothered or there is a long line. You can create your own pizza or pick a prefixed one. There are other options such as wings and I believe I saw bowls/salads so something for everyone. Ordering process was easy and the cashier answered all my questions without seeming annoyed which is a plus. We got our food pretty quick and it was good. It is similar to Lit but I give this place a step above. The pizza sauce and toppings are good! The crust is thin but it holds it better than most pizza spots like it. Big plus to me. Overall we spent a little bit more but the quality was there to cover it. They also have wings which is a score bc I like pizza and wings together. Would highly recommend this spot. read more

First started eating this in Lafayette, La when I lived there & it was my favorite. I love the specialty pizzas but you still have the "Create your own" option. Love Pizza Artista Baton Rouge! Super crisp crust and a multitude of topping options. Some toppings are what you'd see at any other pizza place, but others are more exotic like crawfish or Philly steak. They have a modest upcharge for the fancier toppings. They even have GREEN olives which I love since I can't stand black olives. Staff is super friendly and service is quick. The restaurant and restrooms are extremely clean and well maintained. Several TVs on the walls around the rooms. They seem to mostly play sports channels but I don't go on family day, where other channels may be run. They recently installed an interesting hand washing machine near the soda fountains. I'm guessing it's mostly for the kids that visit with their families because it's a no touch washing station - interesting and fun to use. For the adults they have on tap IPA beers, a fairly large variety. Just get a card when you order your pizza and you scan at each time you pull a glass (or partial glass) of a different beer, and you pay for whatever you've drunk/pulled before you leave. If you sign up for their loyalty program through their website, you'll get text messages regarding special offers. My favorite is the Tuesday special which is a buy one get one pizza free. I often eat one at the restaurant and then bring the other one home to warm up for lunch / dinner the next day. I've even put them in bags in the freezer to warm up later and they still taste yummy. As good or better then LIT pizza and with a loyalty program a better bargain if you take advantage of their texted specials. read more

One of the first things you see is a stand that allows you to take selfies. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic. Upon learning that this was my first visit, they warmly welcomed me. The menu is a smorgasbord of offerings. Pizza Artista approaches the Italian darling (Pizza) from the perspective of Cajun cuisine--and I am here for it! I decided to try the restaurant's namesake, the Artista sans the ham. For people who suffer from Celiac Disease or non-Celiac gluten sensitivities, you are safe here. There is a gluten-free crust option and the staff is trained to handle your food safely. They change their gloves and utensils to prevent cross-contamination. All of the staff were wearing face masks per the COVID guidelines. Pizza Artista also offers dessert options that are gluten-free. I had the browned butter, sea salt rice krispy treat. It was divine. Like most places, Pizza Artista has a drink station with a litany of soda and beer options for self-serve. As a plus and for the convenience of the customer, there is a handwashing station; so, you may clean your hands before you eat your meal. There is a role of butcher paper with puzzles and games printed on it for the kids. It's the little details that I love. I had an opportunity to speak with the Supervisor, Aaron. He told me that they host a wine sampling every Friday, where they share with the customers two selections of wine to sample that they do not offer on their regular wine menu. Last Friday, they offered the Critic Cabernet Sauvignon and the Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon which was aged in Bourbon barrels. As I tasted the wine, I informed him that I am a novice and he happily shared with me his wealth of knowledge in wine and guided me through my tasting experience. I also had the opportunity to meet with the owner Mr. Scott who is Aaron's father. Yes, this is a family business and they are Lafayette, Louisiana proud! We talked about wine, his family, and why he opened Pizza Artista. He spoke passionately about his process and how the details matter to him. He cares about the customers' satisfaction, but he also cares for the morale of his employees. I recommend this restaurant to you all! I hate to pile on to these other bad reviews so early for this new restaurant but someone needs to get in here and turn this place around before it's too late. Someone left the kids in charge here thinking it would be easy to copy the "make your own pizza" concept while the money rolled in and they could do something else with their time. I've never seen so many workers falling all over each other to make pizzas for so few customers. My family of 4 were the only ones in line while 6 workers scrambled into each other's way, bobbing in and out with no apparent system in place that made any sense. When I got to the cash register, I had to repeat from memory what each person ordered as they were already in the oven and again no system to pass that info along to the cashier. It took so long, I wondered what a disaster this place must be if/when they had more business? The selection of ingredients is better than all the other similar joints like this, but the owner/manager should take some time to spy on the others and copy their time and motion sequence before it's too late. We got a large Boucherie pizza and it was nothing like the photos I've seen. They were very stingy with the toppings and it felt like we were just eating a spicy cheese pizza. It was extremely disappointing. The pizza was fine just wasn't worth the price. In my opinion I would just order fast food pizza over this.
