I love the pizza here. I understand that during this covid time things are difficult but having people use the drive thru for ordering and pickup is just ridiculous. The line is down Eubank! Your window is panted open for carryout but that is a lie. You should allow either one or two people at a time to pick up their food. Last night was a pretty big let down for most of us. The green chile on the pizza was jarred and tasted pickled... yuck!! We got green chile and chicken for toppings and it was so incredibly salty! I chose a one star because that's the lowest I could give. Last night we ordered 2 pizzas one cheese the other vegetarian with green Chile. The girl that took our order kept reading back a vegetarian told her 3 times no meat, green chile. When we picked it up the cheese tasted gross, and our vegetarian pizza had sausage on it along with frozen chopped spinach and no chile. Told the guy we order a vegetarian pizza, we were told to pick it off. REALLY? At the end someone did offer to make another the one but it would be at least a10 minute wait. I would NEVER have gone into a place called Pizza Castle. Sounds like a kids pizza place with bad pizza. SO WRONG!!! I am so glad I read a bunch of reviews and gave it a shot. You walk in and are immediately enveloped in the smell of deliciousness. If you weren't already hungry, you will be in about half a second. It's warm and welcoming and just awesome. We ordered a few different kinds of pizzas for poker night and WOW! Everything was just astonishingly good - truly just yum! The sauce is excellent, the crust is perfect, the pizzas are huge and the combination of ingredients is perfection. The staff are really nice - big, burly guys cooking pizza and almost clueless about the register. The restaurant is very old school pizza joint from the 70s - formica tables, fake brick and video games. Comforting somehow. I fervently wish they delivered. I would never order from anyone else. So far, the best pizza we have had in ABQ over the past year and a half. Absolutely a huge recommendation! read more

I have been going to Pizza Castle for years and the food is always great. The pizza is delicious and the proportions of dough, cheese, sauce, and toppings are always perfect. They have a regular offer for a slice of pizza, salad, and 20 oz. drink for ~$6 that is very filling and well worth the price (the slices alone are a generous size). The veggies and mozzarella in their salads always taste fresh and they add several slices of pepperoni that adds great flavor to the salad. I have also tried their wings and garlic cheese bread and they are also favorites of mine. I have yet to try other dishes because it's hard for me to stray away from my favorites (pizza, salad, wings, garlic cheese bread), but I'm confident they are just as delicious. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is always clean; I especially love the nostalgic 80's vibe. I love local restaurants and I definitely prefer Pizza Castle over any other local pizza place, and I definitely prefer it to large chains (Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc.). Used to be much better. New owners don't seem to care as much about quality as they did back in the day. First bad sign was when I got my slice with mushrooms and they had just put some canned/sliced mushrooms on top of a warmed up slice of cheese. Drinks are more expensive than most places and the killer is they charge for refills. That in itself will make me cross a restaurant off my go to list. Salad was ok, pizza was alright once I took the canned shrooms off. Tasted almost like the original pizza castle pizza, but not quite. On the plus side, staff was friendly and out going. Not enough that it makes up for the food by any means... Used to eat here a lot but haven't since it was sold. Decided to give it another try and I did. Definitely will not become a regular again... The pizza parlor has been around for a long time. I never stopped to eat there because of the appearance of their old location. I took a look at their reviews in Yelp and decided to give them a try (Not disappointed). They currently don't have Dine-In. But they have Take Out and their service is outstanding. The manager took care of us (Wife/Myself) and the service was great. Since it was our first visit we order one slice per person to try it out. We order the pepperoni and green chili and weren't disappointed. Except that one of the two slices had an over abundance of crust. We gave our feedback to the staff (Young Man/Lady) and they were very attentive to what we had to say. You don't see this to often. Because the pizza was so good we decided to get another two slice (Huge). This time we order sausage, green chili, and red onion (Awesome). The young man/lady told us that they would make a whole new pie. And the slices came out perfect. The slices were real New York style and well served. Flavor was on point. Would Pizza Castle be 5 stars outside of ABQ? No. But man oh man, it's among the best you'll find here. Plus, I gotta give a bonus star shout out to my girl Ms. Pac-Man. They've got the sit-down tabletop version! My favorite way to spend 25 cents, hands down. My advice is to order your pie well-done. Go to Pizza Castle! This place has been consistently good since I was a kid (I'm 42 now). The place is no frills as the interior is a throwback to a 1980's pizza joint complete with pinball and arcade games. The staff has always been friendly as well. Their pizza is almost kind of perfect. Thin crust which is similar to a NY style without being in NY. The sauce is both tangy and sweet and they don't put too much cheese which can totally ruin a pizza. Plus, they give you two options for green chile- medium and hot. Reminds me of the slices I could get in Carol Gardens Brooklyn, thats a real complement. I would say you are better off with a slice and drink there then take away...I wish it wasn't true...but the crisp is gone by the time you get it home. This place is sleeper good. I'll often stop in and grab a quick slice and an ice tea and, it always hits the spot. I've even seen them more than a few times, draw up a fresh pie just to provide me with a fresh slice. Amazing. I recently order two large (18") pizzas to take to a customer's for lunch. Everyone, and I mean everyone loved the pizza. One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how many albuquerqians have not discovered or ventured out a bit to find other places to eat. For example...two of my customers live in the NE heights but have only eaten dions or that velencia pizza. After yesterday's intro to pizza castle, I think they'll be heading over to Eubank and constitution to indulge in a much more flavorable experience. Surprised to see this PC with such a "high" rating... (ugh..!) My only experience with this place was stopping in to look at the menu and get an idea of the joint... But when I say joint I didn't know it was going to literally smell LIKE a "joint"!... Seriously, wtf? There was a distinct smell of weed in their as soon as I walked in. And the dudes working there seemed like the type to partake, too.. Not to judge but then again... What was that stink in the air?? I know you can play pinball at NYPD down town. The problem with that, is it's a bad table and worse food. Pizza castle has two great pinball tables, which they repair if broken. They've also got fantastic pizza. A great size slice, salad and drink won't set you back enough to care while you're going for a free game on theater of magic. I'd say this is up there with the best in Albuquerque, easy. I like it more than giovanni's and slice parlor. Dions never stood a chance. Pizza Castle has the best cheese, too. Best pizza I have found in Albuquerque. We dined in right after they opened around 11am. Ordered a small four topping pizza. It was ready in about 20 minutes and was delicious. The crust was thin and crispy but poofy on the edges, cheese was high quality, sauce tasted good, and toppings tasty. read more

I'm writing this review as I'm eating because I just had to promote this place.... I picked up through their drive-in window which is so handy because... COVID. The girl who took my payment was so sweet and cheerful, and the man that gave me my pizza (maybe the owner?) just had the friendliest energy which was so refreshing given the state of the world here (and the fact that I personally have had little to no human interaction for weeks now). Instead, you get a beautiful, perfect crust that's topped with delicious goodness! It's not as heavy and doesn't stick to your gut like other pizzas. The crust to toppings and cheesy goodness ratio at Pizza Castle isn't compromised like other pizzas with ridiculously thick, nasty, waste of space crusts and miniscule toppings. So unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of rekindling old but good memories of one the best places in the city to get a slice because they ran out of slices according to the gentleman that answered the phone. Now correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't all u need to do is make a cheese pizza the correct size and cut it into slices. The gentlemen then proceeded to ask me if I would like a 12in pizza instead which would take the same amount if time. Considering a neon sign in the front advertises PIZZA by the slice I feel like this was just a case of the staff or employees being lazy which I'm sure is to bring business. Dion's on the other hand was more than happy to provide slices. I hope to some day find out if it's still just as good as when I was a kid and they were across the street next to skate city. Dined in yesterday for lunch. Pizza was okay, sauce lacked flavor but the crust was yummy with a good chew to it. We also had the sausage sub and the sausage was really tasty and spicy. The sub would be great with some peppers and onions. It was a little pricey for just okay pizza. We got a 12"- 3 topping pizza, sausage sub and a kids meal (1 slice of cheese and a small drink), my husband and I had water and it was $35. The lady working the register was really nice and even came out to see if we needed anything and to talk with the kiddos. Let's start off with Spaghetti... The meatballs were still pink in the middle. The sauce left a vinegar like after taste, I might as well just of had eaten a jar of pickles. I don't think the pictures of the pizza I see posted do this place justice. The pictures make the pizza look average, meh, and ordinary. But the crust is light, has a great texture, and is not overbearing. The sauce's flavor is a wonderful balance between sweet and savory with a smooth consistency. Me and my friend wandered in here after a long day of driving and we were not disappointed. Ending up at Pizza Castle was the perfect way to end the day. The owner (I think it was the owner) was SO FRIENDLY! It was pretty late so we were the only customers in there which was nice. It felt like we had rented out the space for a private event. The pizza was really good and reasonably priced especially considering how huge each slice was. We each got two slices of pizza and ate one and then left the other in the car and ate it for breakfast the next day. Two meals for $6 is quite a steal. I've been to Pizza Castle several times; a few weeks back they didn't give me change, even though I asked for it. Today (10-15), I informed the lady at the counter about it and still didn't get my change from the previous order. I called tonight and spoke with Brian who claims he owns the business; he proceeded to imply that I was wrong for not bringing the problem to someone's attention 'that day'. I told him about the apparent (IMO) slipping quality of the pizza; the last few times have been lower quality. I was about to tell him about the lack of tomato sauce and toppings but his attitude, frankly, stopped me. Personally, I don't like being chastised like an employee. Honestly, he did offer a free order next time I'm in; truthfully, I don't think I will be back. I think a poor attitude from a boss trickles down to the employees.
