    Pizza Castle. Booths.

Saturday. September 21, 2024. Dinner. My wife and I ate here on our date night. I saw a lot of five-star Yelp reviews. This restaurant is in a new location and under new management. If you decide to dine inside, they have 8 booths, 6 tables, 2 pinball machines and 2 video games. They also have a varied menu, with pizza, sandwiches, salads, spaghetti, calzones, stromboli and baked ziti. They have New York style pizza baked on stone. We ordered a 16", thin crust pizza with four ingredients for $26.16, including tax. These ingredients were meatballs, bacon, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. They charged .48 for the thin crust and $2.40 for each ingredient. Our pizza came out in about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I was more than a little disappointed in this pizza based on all the five star reviews. Crust wasn't crisp, sun-dried tomatoes were too sweet, mushrooms were almost non-existent and there were large portions of the pizza missing any sign of ingredients. Wished they had thrown on more bacon, mushrooms and meatballs. A less than average pie with a too sweet after taste.

I don't know about you, but I love pineapple on pizza and so right off the bat, that's a win for me. Now through is some good crust, melty cheese, and fast service and I'm a happy customer. Pizza Castle is super close to my house and I'd been wanting to check them out. So I placed an order by phone and thirty minutes I was back home with a hot pizza. I paid just under $20 for a 16" pineapple pizza with a side of ranch. It was a good, standard pizza. Drive thru options always make me happy and they have a very accessible drive thru right off of Eubank.

Started this ABQ visit with my high school buddy eating at this ol' reliable joint. First time in their 'newer' digs, and I won't lie....I miss the old location. But if this is better for them, yay. They certainly moved their ovens across the street, because the pie is as wicked good as ever. I love how you have the option for oven roasted wings, and I had to grab what I could because my buddy liked them better than I did, wink wink. I guess there will never be a visit down here without hittin' up this great place. And I'm okay with that, Gunga Din...

First time going to the new pizza castle spot. The pizza was so delicious! We went for lunch with our goddaughters and every bite was followed with an yumm at the end... The marinara is the serious some of the best in albuquerque. It's fresh with perfect amount of spice! I'll have to order a side a of marinara to finish off my crust next time!

16" pepperoni and green chile - looks beautiful!

Pizza was delish, and huge! Ordered the jumbo I think 4 toppings, so worth the $$)$. The dough is airy and light and lots of toppings!

Pizza is good. It's like the old Nunzios (now Saggios) if anyone remembers. Service was ok.

The pie was great. Good crunch on the crust and the sauce and cheese was great. It was quiet when we visited. Pizza review is 7.3.

So, I was feeling like a sandwich and decided to try this little place in the Heights. Lots of parking, SUPER clean, welcoming, small but with good seating for pairs (inside and out) and great tunes playing (an eclectic and upbeat playlist - I liked every song during my visit, but several were new to me). An impressive menu (I've put up two shots of the menu board so as to help with any reflection issues) and just the nicest folks working. You know - immediately attentive and friendly, but then leaving you alone while you enjoy your food . . . asking to make sure everything's okay, but giving you your space. But you're here for the food, right? Well, it's quite reasonably priced and generously portioned. My hot pastrami was the California sort (not the fatty NYC sort of my childhood) and it came fairly loaded with juicy meat and just the perfect amount of the dressing I'd requested as well as an ideal amount of cheese. On an ethereally soft, fresh roll - ah, this today was the best sandwich roll I've had so far this year. Just a masterpiece. The sandwich (served with a bag of chips) was delicious and the price of the cold soda (a buck?!) was kind of amazing these days. They had really good looking brownies on the counter for $2, but I resisted. Kinda regretting that now that I'm back home remembering them. Ah well, I'll have to return soon!

We had the spicy Italian, Philly twist, minestrone soup and Greek salad. Everything was excellent,…read morehighly recommend!

I've been going here for almost 40 years - not sure what it's going to take to get it through my…read morehead that Tully's just isn't to my taste. Over the years I keep going back, about once a year: I've had their sandwiches, their pastries, their pies . . . all kinda "meh" and all priced pretty reasonably but not inexpensively. Sandwiches give you a lot of everything . . . except flavor. Pastries are . . . fine. Pies are . . . fine, and kinda small (and not inexpensive, maybe reaching towards pricey); it's the kinda thing you are willing to pay for in order to bring it to a gathering, only to find almost no one bothers to eat it. And so you don't bother. The cookies are pretty good, actually. (And, yes, I know Italian delis - my Italian grandparents brought me to them in New York when I was a child. However, I'm not judging Tully's against these (as in "it's not as good as Back East"), I'm just saying it never really turns my crank.) Today I had a hot chicken, cheese, onion and pepper sandwich, the Carmela. It was a lot of food. But . . . not a lot of flavor. A whole lot of drippy mess in the bottom of my basket, though: water absolutely sopped through the (completely unmemorable tasting) bread loaf and pooled at the bottom of my basket as I ate in. The potato salad served alongside was fine - like what you'd get at Albertson's. The chicken was tender and . . . essentially without flavor, not even salt. There had clearly been a little marinade (I could sense some oregano and maybe garlic in there) but man could this thing have used about five times as much seasoning and then a healthy dose of a vinegar/garlic/oregano dressing on top of it. Bland. Lots of food in that $17 (almost $25 with tip) sandwich, but not a lot of enjoyment. I've had other Tully's sandwiches (both for here and to-go) that were better, but I can't really recall any of them . . . and I _never_ rush back. Like I said, this is a place I think about ("Hey, I'm right nearby; I should try Tully's again!") about once a year . . . and then, meh. To be fair - I believe that I am pretty out in left field on this take: Tully's is popular and always hopping. Get here early unless you want to stand in line. I only had to wait about three minutes to order, but by the time I left at noon this Friday there was a line to order all the way from the counter to the door. In terms of the room, it's a deli. Reasonably well set out with a decent amount of seating set out well, as well as some outside seating that you might want to try when it's not in the nineties. You order at the counter, pay, go get your own fountain drink (they also have some beer and wine, which they will serve you), find a seat and they'll bring it to you. When you're done, you bus it yourself. Pleasant staff - I don't regret tipping, although they don't do much. (As others have mentioned, if you get a cup of water, Tully's generously gives you a decent sized Solo cup - another plus.) It's fine. If you go, at least get yourself some cookies - they're pretty good.
