Best. Gluten. Free. Pizza. Ever. The crust was crispy all the way to the middle even loaded with toppings. And speaking of toppings, wow! The Texas barbecue pizza was loaded with meat and delicious. We needed to order a bunch of pizzas for work last week, and being a pun-loving crowd, there really was no other option once we saw the name. Thankfully, the pizzas lived up to the clever name. The pesto pizza went over well, and the meat lovers was unbelievably saturated with different meats. The quantity of meat on it lead some to joke, "The Meat Lover's pizza, brought to you by Liptor." But really, it was delicious. The staff was great to deal with on a large order and they came through for us on a big order. Closed on Tuesdays. read more

This place is sick, Best Pizza I have ever had and their waitress Sierra is one of the best I have ever encountered always pleasant and smiling. Love to try the specialty pizzas personal favorite is the buffalo blue cheese and the hot wings are big and meaty with just the right amount of heat. Note: I've only had delivery from here. The pizza is pretty meh; sauce has a kind of sour from a jar taste (the only way I can describe it) and the crust is very dough-y. However, the wings and grinders are awesome. Seriously, their buffalo wings. They are crispy (not wet) but still have a great buffalo spice that is flavorful but not overly spicy (I think you can specify your spice level). Delivery is always prompt, food is always hot, and the drivers are very friendly. read more

I loved this place the first time that I went there! They have old-style black-and-white checkered floor tiles and retro (literally in the process of collecting them) seats. Old diner-style tables. They recently installed some funky new lights over the booths. Really nice atmosphere. If you're a drinker, they have a decent selection of beers, some of which are NOT Bud, Coors, or Miller- like Lost Sailor by BBC. They also have some wines to choose from- one that sticks out in my head is Gnarley Head. Pizza selection is fantastic! So many specialty ones to choose from. Also, salads, grinders, and entrees. Employees are super-friendly! One of the owners came out to ask a few patrons about their opinions on the new lighting and he made adjustments accordingly and immediately. Best chicken wings I've ever had!! They get 'em crunchy but the flavor is still good! We've ordered the buffalo wings two nights in a row because they're so good. The wings aren't dripping in sauce, which is what keeps them crispy. If you prefer your wings dripping in sauce, go someplace else. Their greek salad is great as well, and their eggplant pizza has loads of ricotta and mozz on it with delicious parm-style eggplant. Yum! They try to make almost all of their dressings and stuff in-house, and service has been really friendly, which makes a difference. Can't wait to try some more of their pizzas. read more

Where to start ... Last night I ordered boneless wings . And my friend ordered chicken parm. She actually ordered lasagna but they ran out . She asked if they had chicken parm, they said yes . We waited about an hour and a half . I had to call back , they left me on hold , came back on the line and said the driver would be there shortly . It was still another 15 min . We had the cash ready , paid , done . My friend opens her chicken parm, and it was something I have never seen . The chicken was cut into thin slices , sautéed in a sauce , which was a dark red sauce . Served over pasta that was tossed in that same sauce , which looked like straight meat sauce . She had asked for extra cheese , not even that was done correctly . My buffalo boneless wings were by far the worst I have ever had ! How is that even possible ? It tasted like this odd dark red sauce , almost black in color , and the taste like straight cayenne pepper . And it was cold . Where did the driver go , home & showered .. forgot about our order and then brought us our food ? We called back and my friend asked for a refund . I just left mine alone . I took a few bites and I couldn't eat it . I had to throw it away . Then I took a drive and got something else . So not only did I want deliverer because I bartend and I couldn't leave . I had to ask someone else to cover the bar , so I could go get some food , before the crowd came in . I have read the other reviews and I see that the pizza is what they may specialize in and vegan & gluten free options and such . The only good thing I can say is the waitress was nice. However, we just waited 45 only to walk out with no food. It took a little too long to order, then we were told the vegan food I had ordered was NOT VEGAN. Not cool, why the actual f*#k would you put Wild Vegan Tofu on your menu if the blue cheese on the pizza is not vegan!?! So one of the 2 vegan pizza's on your menu are not vegan?? Seriously, what dip shit wrote your menu?? Our salad was supposed to come right away but never showed up and when we walked out they said it would be 10 more minutes. So it takes you an hour to make 2 pizzas and a salad when you have 3 tables? If you're backed up with call in orders (we didn't hear the phone ring and no one was waiting) you should inform your customers "just so you know it's going to be about an hour wait" when they walk in the door, that way they can decide if it's worth an hour of their time for the greesey guy in the tank top to make your lunch. This place has great gluten-free pizza and grinders. We usually order from somewhere else but have tried Pizza D'Action the past few times we've wanted pizza, and not been disappointed! My husband loves their pizza (he usually gets sausage, mushroom, peppers, onion) and I've trued a few pizzas and recently got a grinder. The amount of food you get is staggering - my grinder easily weighed 5 pounds. Super tasty, and really satisfying to be able to get a real gluten free grinder and not a dinky sandwich. read more

Pizza for pick-up. Ordered a eggplant parmesan pizza. A little healthy veggie but still fried and tasty. It was as usual acesthecally pleasing and delicious. The crust is nice and firm with yeasty notes which are noticable. Some people may not notice this, I did. I have been ordering food from Pizza D.Action for quite a while now, and have tried to call them when I have something delicious that I enjoy and share that with them. I also call them when I have something that is not so great. Tonight it started with my ordering a salad and pizza, and asked for the tuna to be placed in a separate container. I was told by the person on the phone that it would be extra to use another container. I was not happy with the extra charge and told them to put it in the same container as the salad. A minute later I got a phone call from Josh the manager. He explained why the extra charge. I wanted to explain my outlook as a customer and he encouraged me by telling me to be upfront and honest as he could take the criticism. (Apparently he could not) In discussing a dish with shrimp included, I tried to explain that I ordered the item twice. The first time, it had a lot of shrimp in it, and the second time, it had six shrimp. (I had received a ten dollar credit from the owner Scott for a meal that was not very good, so I ordered the shrimp creole dish again that I really enjoyed, but unfortunately, it had a lot less shrimp in the ten dollar meal than the first meal I ordered and paid over eighteen dollars for. Josh told me about their policies on amounts of food, down to the cream on the dish. He over took the conversation by lecturing me on this protocol. Josh told me about other women that had ordered from them for 4-5 nights a week and that they complained almost every time that they received their meal, and then Josh told them that maybe they should order elsewhere if they were not happy. I asked Josh, if he was telling me to do that and he directly said "no." The conversation was not going well, as he was very defensive and kept talking over me, and accused me of lying about the shrimp in the dish, telling me that he is completely sure that there is only 6 shrimp in that dish at all times. My expectation of a manager would be someone who is an effective and professional person who understands how to work with the public and not be dismissive, rude, or to talk over the customer. Josh's behavior is that of a bigot and should not be working with the public. When he said to me, it's too bad you did not call us about the shrimp when you got the dish. I tried to explain, but he kept interrupting me and when I told him that he was not letting me talk, he asked me if I wanted my pizza that I ordered, and before I could even answer him, he took it upon himself to cancel my order, telling them to take the pizza out of the oven. He then told me that I could not order from them again, because I was not happy with my dishes and should order elsewhere. Since my interaction with Josh, I have read several reviews of Pizza d'Action, and the common complaint was that Josh treats customers (women very badly and also does not know how to manage and react to the public, as a manager.) Josh does not handle himself in a professional way and this has been identified by many reviews in which a customer has an issue with something, like a fly in a salad, dirty chairs and tables etc, etc. Josh is not management material and eventually will do damage to this business as if he has not done that already. I asked to speak with the owner Scott and Josh told me that I could but it would do me no good. Josh said he has worked there for a long time and that he runs the place.????? I thought Scary. I do not know what the business arrangement is at Pizza D'Action but if the owner Scott allows Josh to treat his female customers with disdain and disrespect, then it is a management issue and is bigotry at it's finest. Do not go here, if you do not want to be treated badly or disrespectfully by Josh. He should not be in the customer service end of things if he cannot control his bigotry. I do feel that this restaurant knows exactly how they are preparing their food, and do NOT want to hear if they do a bad job. read more

I'm sad to say that I lived in Holyoke for 7 years before I got the name of this restaurant. (I know, pathetic, right?) I dunno if these name puns are a Greek pizza place thing or what, but my godmother, who is also a Greek-American, has long threatened to open a pizza place and name it after herself with a horrible pun: Ioanna Pizza? Anyway, this is more expensive pizza than you'll find at a lot of the shops in town, but it is some damn good stuff, the crust is delightful and the sauce is heavenly. When I'm here with my boo, we get the meat lovers' pizza which is delightful the first time around, delightful cold the next morning, delightful heated back up, we have to order a big one so there will be leftovers. When I'm ordering on my own, I usually get a pepperoni and vegetables sort of thing and those are great too. This is definitely a good Greek pie, and we love it. The retro decor is fun, and even when some of the more eccentric locals are here, they usually pick pretty awesome songs for the jukebox. read more

Ended up being the best meal experience ever! The service was warm and welcoming. Lovely space (the jukebox a very nice touch). The other customers we met were also incredibly friendly. And the food? Was excited to find a vegan pizza place! We ordered from here this past weekend and I was impressed with their pizza!! We ordered the veggie vegan combo pizza with vegan cheese.... I loved the thin crust, the quality of the olives, the slices of eggplant on top, and the olive oil based "sauce" covering the pizza... it was superb! Customer service was also great. I found this place a couple of years ago and I have taken every visitor I've had there for the best pizza ever made (with absolutely no arguments from anyone). I swear there is something mystical in the tomato sauce; I've never tasted one that ran an even close second. Everyone in the place is so friendly and Becky is worth her weight in GOLD! I switched to a vegan diet a few years ago, but still love take out on occasion. I got the vegan veggie pizza which was delicious (but not so healthy-there is fried eggplant on it!). I love eggplant and caramelized onions and greek olives so...yum. I also tried the Indian Korma which was also delicious. Two thumbs up from me. I will be back to try more dishes. I am usually more of a fan of thin crust than thicker crusts (too much bread for me), but I found the ratio of crust to toppings to be excellent in this case. read more

I was in the area for a weekend trip and a Google search recommended Pizza D'Action for vegan food. It's hard to say what I enjoyed most when eating here. The service was phenomenal! Everyone (including the owner) were pleasant and really went above and beyond! The food was amazing! The vegan lasagna was delicious! We also had pizza that was great. This is a VERY friendly place with, by FAR, the BEST vegan pepperoni pizza I have ever had. Not many pizza joints have vegan options, and the ones that do--the pizza is usually really soggy, sticky, flavorless, and they never have vegan pepperoni! THANK YOU, Pizza D'Action, for being the ONLY restaurant I have found that gets the vegan pizza right! It tastes and acts just like dairy pizza, the pepperoni is spot-on too. I tried their vegan meatball sub which is also very good (could have used more sauce), but not as awesome as the pizza. The owner told me that they are considering adding even more vegan-friendly options to the menu, I hope they do! I would have given them five stars but for two reasons--they charge extra for vegan cheese and they serve non-vegan too. IMO, they should just GO FULLY VEGAN, as they would corner the market, especially if they just focused on what they do very well--vegan! We had the best time tonight at Pizza D'Action. We travelled from Boston to Holyoke so our son could go the the wonderful children's museum near by for his 6th birthday (his choice). I wanted pizza and cake after the museum and picked Pizza D'Action based on location and reviews. We were not disappointed. Not only was the pizza out of this world, the manager and the young woman who assisted us could not have been nicer. The food was outstanding and the staff were just as fantastic.
