Look no further for your gluten free pizza fix. Or any pizza fix, for that matter. Whatever your culinary pizza needs, Pizza D'Action has you covered. Service is super friendly and informative inside this cozy storefront in Holyoke. Since the food is made to order, be prepared for a bit of a wait, especially if you have a food allergy. They take the time to ensure the prep area is clean to reduce the risk of any cross-contamination. So if you're in a hurry, I'd advise calling ahead with your order. The pizza was worth the drive north from Springfield, and it held up well for leftovers several days afterward. If I ever find myself in the area again, I will be back for more.

Side salad with side of bug.
Racquel B.

Had an interesting experience here. Found an insect in the side salad that came with my vegan lasagna. The waitress apologized deeply and said we'd receive a discount on our meal. We received the bill and there was no discount. They'd simply taken off $2 for the cost of the side salad. I asked the waitress and Josh, the manager came over to explain. He was pretty arrogant, defensive and overly loud. He said the salad comes in a bag and essentially it's not their fault. And I quote "it's not like it's a cockroach!" He continued with "I've been doing this for 15 years and the Health Inspector eats here all of the time". Not sure how that justifies having a beetle in my salad. He finally takes the angle of accusing us of having eaten the salad. After much back and forth he says if we aren't happy with the 'discount' he can go ahead and "take some more money off our dinner". He eventually gave us half-off another item on our bill (pizza)--and a very awkward and uncomfortable end to our dinner. I'll have to pass on this one. While the waitress was very pleasant and the lasagna good, I don't want Pizza Dis Action.

There are so many vegan options I had a hard time picking but i went with the lasagna and it was great. Huge portion, very fresh and even the dressing for the salad was delicious. I will be back again to try all of the other vegan options. Also the hostess/server, Rebecca was the sweetest thing! Super helpful and just made the experience that much better. Thank you!!

Vegan sausage sandwich. Loaded with sausage. Good value.

I had a nice quick lunch here on the way to the airport. I love when restaurants are eager to provide great fare for their diet-restricted patrons, like myself. I had the vegan sausage sandwich. It nice and hearty, and had a really generous helping of sausage (did they put a whole package of Tofurky in there??). The interior of the restaurant was pretty plain - standard pizza parlor look - but I like that. The woman working that day was really nice and helpful, as well. Overall, a nice experience. My only concern as I leafed through the menu was the big upcharge on pizzas when substituting vegan cheese. If I recall correctly, it was more than $7 substitution fee for the largest size. I understand vegan substitutes are expensive, but who can afford a ~$30 pizza? Any other vegans have experience with this?

This is supposed to be pizza sauce. It's more like tomato paste with Italian spices. Yuck!!!
Arthur M.

I ordered a 1/2 cheese, 1/2 onion x large pizza and my wife got a small vegan pizza with the red sauce. Okay... calling the red stuff on the pizza, sauce, would be a lie. It's more like tomato paste. I seriously believe that it's canned something (probably tomato paste with a little added water) and additional spices. It's very unappealing. I had a hard time checking down the few slices that I forced myself to eat considering it was over $20. We also got French fries and mozzarella sticks. The fries are fries...had a weird coating but was okay. The mozzarella sticks were obviously frozen with the same paste for dipping. I will mention that my wife liked her thin crust vegan pizza but the same issues wth the sauce (paste). The crust of the regular is pan pizza. More like a pan doused with oil and the crust fried inside of it. We went there for the vegan options and I'm shaking my head at the how awful the non-vegan food was. Avoid this place if you're looking for anything palatable. To add insult to injury. We had to wait more than 35 minutes for our yucky food!

My family and I were astonished about this hidden gem during a day trip to Holyoke MA. The vegan eggplant pizza was delicious. The staff was polite, funny and friendly. I highly recommend this place for vegan and non vegans too. Please see attached menu.

Unbeknownst to us this is their bar side. Initially turned off by a patron smoking near the door. After walking through the bar to the restaurant area, we were met by Katie, and directed to take a seat anywhere. Being midafternoon the restaurant only had couple and a six top of people celebrating one of diner's 70th birthday. The rest of the restaurant was empty. I commented to my wife how clean the carpet looked. We reviewed the menu and asked Katie what some of the popular dishes were and if she had her choice between the fish & chips or the clams which would she choose. She praised the fish and said that the clams depend on who is cooking. Said today was a fish day. We ordered a Fish & Chips, a pretzel bites which is new to their menu, and the JP minis with an upgrade to onion rings. The pretzel bites were brought out very quickly. The ten little nuggets of pretzel goodness were delicious. The cheese sauce was a perfect compliment to the bites. Our mains came out just as we ate the last pretzel bite. Let's start with fish and chips. The fried scrod was flaky, delicate, and moist, perfectly cooked. The crinkle cut fries were very good. The cole slaw had a nice crunch and not overly done up with celery salt. It was a dry slaw. The JP minis were at trio of juicy sliders with mayo, mustard, and a pickle slice. Very juice two bite burgers. Struck the perfect balance of meat to bread. The onion rings were a bit over fried, had a satisfying crunch, but some were missing the onion. For dessert we split a chocolate chip lava cake. While it was good, it was a little too much sweet on sweet on sweet. The food and service was above average. Definitely will stop by again. Two thing really were turn offs. I mentioned the amount of cigarette smoke from patrons smoking right near the bar door. Next time I will park in the south side and use that restaurant entrance. Second and perhaps the most annoying is that they charge a fee to use a credit card. No where in their menu or any other signage was this additional fee disclosed other than at the bottom of the bill. If my math is correct it is about 4%. So in summary good food and service, avoid the bar side, and be aware they charge extra to pay by credit card.

We got seated right away, but it was busy for the time (mid afternoon). Our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. The French onion soup hit the spot and was some of the best I've ever had. Rich beef broth, tender onions, nice and hot, and of course perfectly melted cheese. We shared a patty melt with onion rings. The patty melt was overdone - we ordered medium but it was beyond well done. Still flavorful but would have preferred it as ordered. They had a large patio which must be nice in the summer. A lot of the photos showed it being in a shopping mall, but those must be old, because it is a standalone restaurant. We will definitely go back when in the area, especially when we want French onion soup!

The burgers certainly didn't seem fresh. We had the appetizer pretzel that was $12 and came out on the big "show-stopping" hook. The bottom was almost burnt, it had no salt on it and absolutely ZERO flavor. The mustard and cheese sauce that they gave you to dip it in was tasteless. I'm pretty sure the cheese sauce was from a can and the mustard was just plain yellow mustard. Gross. The only redeeming thing about the meal was my chili..I'd say that was very good. Everything else was subpar. Service was friendly, but we didn't really require a lot. It was over $100 for four of us to have a light lunch and only one person had an alcoholic beverage. So it's pretty expensive for midgrade pub food. The atmosphere has a cozy vibe and I'm sure when their patio is open, people will enjoy that. But I certainly won't be back anytime soon.

I was told by a Vietnam buddy of mine from the Military Club at Holyoke Community College. That the bar changed owners some years back and back in the day, the bar was a huge supporter for its men and woman in arms. Now it promote violence and gang affiliation. The bouncers will watch while you bleed on their floor and the the bartenders will berate and try to humiliate you in the bathroom. It only took two visits for me to completely turn my back on this establishment. The first visit was very friendly. I went in about 9 pm -11 pm on or about Sep 25th. Small crowd, all watching a game. Had a couple beers and went home happy. The second visit was unbelievable. My grandmother (the woman that raised me) had passed away Dec 4th, 2018. On Dec 5th, I decided to visit the bar with my husband to have a few drinks to drown in our sorrows. Immediately you saw a complete change in the atmosphere. Loud music and groups of people swarming around the entrance. I was not in a social mood, so I breezed passed them and sat on the other end of the bar. I came in about 11 pm that night and stayed until close. I played Keno and scratched tickets. Nothing special. Talked with my husband about my grandmother and had a couple tears and laughs. Last call: I took my last drink and headed towards the entrance. When at the door, I heard a couple females talk to me over my shoulder. Not thinking much about it, I turned to say hi. Immediately I was screamed at: "Mind your business white B!@#$". "You don't know us, we're the wrong ones. White B!@#$." I than was grabbed by the woman on the left and pulled to the ground. Unfortunately for them. I just so happen to be a "WHite B!@#$" that grew up in the bad neighborhood of Six Corners in Spfld, MA. I joined the Military and I just so happen to box in my spare time. I tore the first girl up. The other three girls than jumped in and it was a four against one fight. The staff and bouncers stood by and watched. I could see them circle around me as I fought for my life. The bar helped the girl that started the fight, by escorting her out without anyone seeing her. Leaving me bleeding on the floor. Once the woman that jumped me were safe in their car. I was pushed out the door and left by the side-walk of the building. One of the females left the car and returned for her phone. Because I laughed in her face and screamed she had no honor. She tried to initiate a second fight. THe bouncer than at that time. grabbed me and brought me to the bathroom to clean up my bloody face. While in the bathroom, I was ridiculed by the bartender. Not comfortable but blamed. She kept telling me, "Look at your face!" Once the female fetched her phone, I was grabbed from the bathroom by the Security Guard and pushed back outside where the doors were locked behind me. Outside again, I could hear the employees laughing indoors, "White B!@#$ always get what they deserve." I went home. The next day I tried to call the owner of the bar. He was never in and never returned my call. Again, I tried to use my position as The Military Club Treasurer of the Bunker at HCC, to reach out to a fellow Veteran. Again, the owner refused to answer. Finally, I turned to post and review the bar on Facebook. Nothing was ever posted. I decided to go looking through the feedback. I found one of the females that jumped me. 5 starred the bar! Followed her profile and sure enough there were all four girls. I filled a report with the Holyoke Police Dep. And also identified them correctly through mug-shots. Now, I have legal proceedings in place for the females and we are going to trail for one of them. Beware this bar! They are prejudice and you could die just trying to mourn a loved one. FYI: This "White B!@#$ is actually Cretan and Bahamian. Sorry my light skin offends you.

This time I got the braised pork and polenta and this one is on me because I don't usually like braised pork or polenta too much but it sounded interesting and I wanted to try it. It wasn't my favorite but that's more about my taste than anything. The peach crumble was absolutely spectacular and I'm glad they learned from last time and made the ice cream sweeter (the creme fraiche on the dessert I got last time was not sweet whatsoever). Can't wait to see what's on the menu next time I'm here! 7/3/25: God, I love it here! This year, I got two mocktails, the ruby Tuesday and orange lovely, because I couldn't choose and loved both of them! Then I started with the pickled carrots which were absolutely delectable. The turmeric honey and chili oil sauce was absolutely PERFECT. If I wasn't worried about social standing I would've licked that plate clean. I never thought I would enjoy eating carrots so much. Then came my queso mac and cheese that I took myself I would only eat half of so I could take the rest home and not hurt my stomach but I couldn't help myself. This was one of the best mac and cheese I've ever ordered at a restaurant. It was made with cotijia, had tortilla chips and cilantro in it with onion on top to pull it all together. Chef's kiss. I had to get dessert since I only come once a year and this orange almond cake was SOOOO GOOOD ughhhh I wish this restaurant was in Westchester I'm an avid nuts-in-dessert hater and this cake had me eating spoonfuls of almonds. I think they converted me. It was so moist and sticky and beautiful and the almonds were perfectly toasted and crispy without being like chewing on rocks. I am obsessed. 10/11/25: Back at my favorite restaurant! Got to have some new variations of the great things I loved in the past: fire roasted peppers (this time with ricotta!) and pickled carrots with turnips. I also got the orange lovely again because it was favorite of the two I got last time. So yummy still! I also got the general tso cauliflower and it was so good but also spicy!! Now this butter braised tomato soup was absolutely fantastic. Best tomato soup I've ever had. And the plum galette was perfection. I really have no notes because as I keep saying, everything I ever get from here is absolutely fantastic.
