The weather was beautiful, and with summer being so short in Minnesota, we like to take advantage of it whenever we can. Our server came to our table shortly after we were seated, but it was long enough that we both had time to decide what we wanted before she arrived. I ordered the Texas Philly, and my husband had the brisket sandwich. We had to wait a while for our food, which we understood given how busy the restaurant was. Others around us were complaining about the wait, and those tables had a different server who was very apologetic about the kitchen being backed up. The hand-cut fries were piping hot and seasoned perfectly. It's so rare to go out to eat and get hot fries, let alone fries that are piping hot. That alone was worth the wait! My husband loved the brisket sandwich, and the Texas Philly was SO good--piled full of meat. We live in the south metro, but it was well worth the 30+ minute drive to get there. We'll definitely be back and will absolutely recommend J&J's to others!

(The previous "Kretschmar" brand was even worse.) Fortunately, I visited Anoka Meat and Sausage for the first time and I'm very impressed. This is definitely my new go-to spot for my zero-carb, meat based diet. This place has nearly everything you could ever want from a meat market. Plus, they have tons of extra specialty products like spices, rubs, sauces...and more. And they're the ONLY place I've found (so far) in my local area that offers bacon with no added sugar! I don't know why it's is so hard to find processed meat with no sugar. Companies insist on throwing sugar in every damn food product and they even do it with meat...rotisserie chickens, hot dogs, sausages, hot dogs, jerky, brats, bacon, braunschweiger, etc. Don't believe me? Read the labels. They try to hide it by listing sugars on the ingredient label as organic cane juice, turbinado sugar, sucanat, molasses, honey, dextrose, kings syrup, invert syrup, maltose...you name it...they try to sneak it in everything. I found a website that lists sugars by 65 difference deceptive and sneaky names. It's sad. I guess the big food companies want everyone to be diabetic. Last but not least, the employees are very friendly and I feel the prices are very reasonable. You can go to Main Street Anoka and buy a high end product for the same price (or less) than the big box grocery stores with questionable quality. What's not to love? Thumbs up! -Maxx

I used to see this place as a 5 star place. Grew up down the road and ate here all the time. I've done both my kids birthdays here since they were born and my sister has done the same. Great prices. Order the same thing for parties every time and somehow though this last one was 65 dollars more than normal and only thing I did different was order one extra pizza. They charged me more in pop and I only ordered 6 or 7 pitchers of pop. When I called later after my fiance told me the total the girls were rather rude. I was shocked. Eventually after I explained myself the girl said whatever to me and hung up. So i went to them and asked for a manager and conveniently they had no idea when the manager would be in. The girl I spoke with said she was the owners daughter and told me I wasn't doing math right and that I'm lucky they didn't charge me for salads. I didn't order any salads so why would I be charged? She then said refills on pop is what got me and even charged me for water. I didn't even ask for it. They just brought the water out. Then said I had 3 refills on all pops when one wasn't even touched. I told her I'll pay for the ones I know we're refilled and another girl interrupted me claiming I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about. The owners daughter finally got frustrated and said the owner would get back to me and of course I never got a call and this was the first Sunday of May. I'm not one to post reviews but I'm hoping since calling and asking for the owner isn't working that he will see this and look into it. It's a shame cause I planned on continuing having all my kids parties here but after being treated the way I was I won't and my sister no longer wants to do her kids birthdays here. We'll order now and then but they lost put on quite a bit of banquet parties because of this. If the owner would look into this and call me it would be greatly appreciated. I just want this resolved and apparently the girls working there don't want to tell him about how poorly service was that day cause the message isn't getting passed on. It's a shame cause this is a great place to eat when the girls aren't treating you the way they did me at my son's bday party. read more

The food is good don't get me wrong . But the owner is a racist asshole !!! My boyfriend works there & he is mixed - but real light skinned . The owner has asked him several times if "he was born here in America" & he has said stuff to my boyfriend - like comparing him "to the other black people that used to work here" Now ; what kind of OWNER treats his employees like that !?! That to me is not a business professional !!! I swear someone else needs to own this company !!! Because it is very good food , but to have an owner like that who disrespects his employees is NOT right !!! And on top of it ; while the owner was treating my boyfriend like shit ; NONE of the other employees said a damn word ; NOT even the manager on duty !!!! The ambiance of the restaurant was amazing. I will be back to get traditional pies. I was just not a big fan of the salad on top of my pizza.
