We've lived in Davis for five years and were restricted to gluten free pizzas for most of that time due to a mistaken diagnosis. Now that that's over, we're trying out all the pizza places we couldn't before -- and we'll definitely be coming back to Pizza Guys. We got a deal on a specialty pizza (vegetarian) + cheesy garlic bread. Half the time I get "veggie lovers" pizza it's a half-hearted sprinkling of mushrooms and green peppers and not much else but Pizza Guys did not skimp on toppings whatever! Our pizza was smothered in mushrooms, very fresh olives, seasoning, and a reasonable handful of green peppers and red onions. I could have used more of the latter than the former but my spouse was in heaven. The marinara sauce was perfectly balanced in flavor and the crust was good. Not overly thick but sizable and tasty. I'll definitely be back for more thanks to the generous offerings and good flavor. Here's where the missing fifth star comes in: the cheesy garlic sauce tastes like cream with a bit of garlic powder. I despise sour cream and was expecting butter, garlic, and mozzarella. Smothering the garlic and sour cream bread with marinara sauce made it tolerable but in the future I'll just save my money. I was a bit let down there because I normally love and cannot be disappointed by garlic bread. Let's not even talk about ambiance because even though I'm rating exclusively on the food, I must mention that you cannot eat there. I'd say this is primarily a carry out. With that said, the pizza was not overflowing with ingredients, nor excellent cheese. The cheese used, even when melted, did not have a elastic consistency. The curst was definitely the biggest disappointment because it was thin, but had the dryness of flatbread. If it's thin, it's got to be crunchy with a dry rustic texture to it. I tried the pepperroni, hawaiian, garlic chicken ranch, and combination. 4 XL's total was $79. You get a free soda if you order a certain amount, a minimal plus at most. I highly recommend getting their chicken & ranch pizza and a combo pizza, with a couple 2-litre bottles of coke and sprite - all for abouts $20... You'll needs to give them coupons for these deals. But ironically, they have the coupons laying right there on the counter for you, so it's a bit of a silly and unnecessary step in my opinion. What more could a po' starving college student ask for? I just wanted people (especially the girls) to be aware of an incident that occurred with a pizza delivery guy and my sister one night. Now the BAD: - watch out for one of the delivery guys with a thick accent. My younger sister was visiting me one night and was home alone while I was still at work and decided to order pizza. They told her it would take 45 minutes. Well my front door doesn't have a peep hole and there is no doorbell so twenty minutes later while she's on the toilet upstairs, the pizza arrives. She didn't hear the guy knocking on the door and when she was coming downstairs someone is jiggling the doorknob, violently shaking the door, trying to open it, and banging on it. Of course she got freaked out and got too scared to answer it because she didn't know who it was and she thought someone was trying to break in! When she called me, I hurried home and got there within 10 minutes. I called the pizza guys to find out if it had been them but the girl told me that the pizza hadn't been delivered and that it was on its way. So I thought ok so it was someone else trying to break my door down. But about 5-10 minutes later someone knocked hard on the door and low and behold it was the pizza guy and he was pissed off. I tried to tell him nicely that he shouldn't have been banging on my door like that or touching the doorknob but he wouldn't have it. He claimed he had been knocking or waiting at the door for 10 minutes (which is BS because my sister said he was only there for a few minutes). When I paid for the pizza he pretty much threw the change at me and left. He must have had a really crappy day to be acting like that to customers. My question: isn't there a reason why they take your phone number down when you order??? I don't care if he's knocking on the door for 10 minutes his hand shouldn't have gone anywhere near the door knob. What if my sister left it unlocked and he got in. Was he going to let himself in and make himself at home?? WTH? At least when I called to complain about him, the shift supervisor was nice and understanding. I requested for a manager but she wasn't available and I was told that my complaint would be passed on to her. (Hopefully it was... I don't want the guy to get fired but geez, people need to be aware of his behavior.) ugh. My roommate and I ordered pizza for dinner tonight. We found a coupon for $11.99 for a 2 topping medium pizza and 2 free 20oz soda (if delivered) or 1 free 2 liter soda (if picked up). So I get my pizza and he tells me that I can instead of getting 2 free 20oz soda I can now get 1 free 2liter soda and 1 free 1 pint Dryer's ice cream. WHOOO!! Their Specialty Hawaiian Pizza is my go-to here. Delivery is pretty fast most of the time. I had to dock a stars for food handler code purposes. One time, I went to pick-up at this location and the worker had a vine of grapes in her hands (and chewing a few in her mouth) as she proceeded to take an order out of the oven. The Pizza Guys are awesome! They have great options and sides on their menu and many vegetarian options since I sometimes go vegetarian/pescatarian and it's hard to find places that have anchovies! The pizza tastes delicious, I've been going here since my freshman year of college in 2005. Oh Pizza Guys...every time I called you a man with a thick Russian accent took my order while seemingly yelling at the rest of the staff in Russian at every interval possible. The specials at Pizza guys are insane 20 bucks for a 2 liter, cheese sticks, and 2 pizzas. What Pizza Guys lacks in quality they certainly make up for in quantity. Pizza Guys became my go-to pizza place when I was living in Vacaville, for their quick service and cheap-but-decent pizza. I was hoping they'd be a similar staple in Davis. No such luck. First, we got a delivery estimate time of over 40 minutes, ut it took them over an hour to get to our apartment. Our food was lukewarm by the time it got to us. Then, they f-ed up 2/3rds of our order. They forgot marinara sauce for the cheesy bread (and instead gave extra ranch - ugh I don't like ranch), and they left the onions on the veggie pizza even though we left specific instructions to take them off. When I called to complain, the guy went "uuuuhhhh, duuuhh... right, didn't see that onion thing" like he had an IQ of 60. Pizza Guys did the right thing and sent us a new pizza and sauce, but it took another hour from the phone call for them to deliver it. I used to think my favorite pizza place was Mountain Mikes but now I like Pizza Guys :) I love their cheesy garlic bread and to my surprise, not many places make it like they do. What I like about theirs is that it's pretty much like a pizza with some garlic sauce and cheese on it rather than normal bread with cheese on it. The people that work here are pretty friendly. Someone called in to make an order and I heard the guy working there asking the customer if they could hold on for a quick second so he can figure out what combination would make their order the cheapest. I have been coming to Pizza guys for years and it is one of the better pizza chains in town. The pizzas are good and are priced reasonably especially with the deals and coupons they have. I came in today to get a free pizza due to being an "Elite" :) I had the buffalo chicken pizza and I also ordered a chezee garlic bread. Both items were delicious and well made. I want to report that a certian delivery driver who delivered to me twice was extremely rude, unprofessional, and actually asked me to pay cash when i already paid through eat24 app. I had to go out of my way to prove to him that I paid already even though it turned out pointless. I forked over cash to him asking eat24 for a refund. The second order, on a different day, the same delivery driver came and pretty much threw the food at me, made a sexist, racial sacrastic remark which caused me to reinjure my left hand (when he roughly handed me the food which the corner of the box roughly stabbed me in my chest) and reinjured my left hand when i tried to hold the food from falling and away from my chest because it hurted. His remarks were painful and hurted me mentally and i seriously feel threatened mainly because he knows where I live!!!! I am not willing to cause myself more stress by calling the police or identify the driver. I reported this to eat24 and nothing was done. I spoke with Yoshi on Eat24 app through chat and sent emails to eat24. Please don't hurt me anymore. I am already in pain 24/7. Chronic pain is no joke.
