Popped in on a random early evening during Spring Break and practically had the place to myself which was heavenly. It's usually the hopping place to be and I'm well past hopping age. Ordered up a chicken + pineapple BBQ sauce personal pizza. At the last minute, and ONLY because the kitchen wasn't slammed, I also asked for sautéed mushrooms instead of raw. OMG heaven on a bumpy tray (well-designed to keep the crust from getting soggy). I devoured that pie and finally remembered to take a photo of the last piece before finishing it off. Super friendly staff, fun vibe. Lots of front porch outside seating, large main room with booths and tables, and a back room with still more booths and tables and an entrance to/from the rear parking area. We were visiting my nephew at UC Davis and decided on pizza for dinner. I was told Steve's was the place to go. Steve's did not disappoint. The location is great, right next to UC. It's a cool old building and pretty big too. Inside and outside tables. Cool booths inside. This is obviously a great place for groups. There was a large group event in the back area and the front patio was reserved for a birthday party. It was busy but not crazy. The guy at the counter was super cool and the pizza was delicious. The prices were reasonable. Definitely the pizza place to bring the folks to, when they are in town. read more

All I can say is, "WOW," and not in a good way. We were the only customers on a Sunday evening. The place was hot and the TVs were blaring at top volume, but those complaints are minor compared to what we discovered next. There was actual fuzzy MOLD growing on the sliced tomatoes in the salad bar. I mean, how is that even possible? That's the kind of mold you might see on something that was lost in the back of your refrigerator for a couple of weeks! When we handed the bowl to an employee, he just kind of shrugged and grunted. We stood in line at Woodstocks to be told the kitchen was closed?? (8:30) Walked over to Steve's & what a find. Pizza was better, cheese sticks better and service better than Michelins!! 'Steve' (not his name) let me taste 4 beers ("don't buy a bad pint" he said) and this along w so many small points won me over. Besides asking only if all ok, servers stood and interacted with questions, comments etc. They didn't interfere w our group just alowed us to include them w our fun. We grabbed our pizzas to go! I love the location of this place but parking can be a bear! We asked for ranch and we're only given two... ordering $100 worth of pizza plus tip and you only get two 2oz containers of ranch? Additional is .75cents? That was definitely a let down! We ordered breadsticks that came with 2 small containers, however we are sharing all this among a large group of people which made it super frustrating. We ordered the Steve's pizza and the garlic chicken- both were very good! The garlic chicken lacked chicken but the flavors were delicious! The Steve's was truly delicious! I would order that one again for sure. The breadsticks were dry and mediocre at best, I would not order them again. Another update! Of course I needed to validate that my five star review last time was indeed still current. Research, right? And of course it is. The pizza is divine. Our favorite is still The Steve. The new owners have really settled in over the last couple of years and the service is still amazing. Even though the pandemic is over, we are still digging the upgraded patio. Such a nice and relaxing place. Always clean! Another thing that makes this place special is the large circular table in the dining room. It's huge--and so good for actually being able to talk to the people you're hanging out with. So much better than trying to squeeze into several booths. (notice how I didn't call it a round table?) The pizza is always delicious and the crust is perfection! I'm not a salad bar gal, but I recently had one and it was pretty good! I've been to Steve's Pizza in person once before, and can say I had a nice experience (okay food but everything was up to par). However, my rating is exclusively based on how poor of a job Steve's Pizza does when it comes to delivery. I had an order on DoorDash today I placed at 10:52 that was SCHEDULED for a delivery between 11:40 to 12pm. I just order the large salad bar salad and 10 wings...Tell me why I receive notice at 11:45pm that my order wouldn't come until 27 minutes AFTER the scheduled time. Mind you, they didn't even take the time to cancel it themselves once they knew an order with TWO items would take an hour and a half. I had to reach out to DoorDash to make sure that cancelling my order wouldn't prevent me from being refunded (since Steve's was still "preparing" it). Needlessly to say, I'm turned off enough to make this my last "order" with this restaurant. I'd advise everyone to stick to in-person dining EXCLUSIVELY if you don't want to go hungry. read more

As a proud UC Davis Aggie alum, I've been eating at Steve's since, well, Steve made the pizza. I'm happy to report that the newer owners (about five years now) have kept the good vibes and good food going. Here's to dining in, nothing ever seems to taste as good at home. Steve's has got a sports bar vibe with 10 TVs. There's a pretty good salad bar to practice your reverse-Jenga skills and get as much as you can on the one plate per guest. Lettuce was super fresh which of course is the building block of any salad bar worth its stuff. I don't like anything on the bone, but my posse wanted bone-in wings and they disappeared quickly. The garlic bread twists had a nice kick. I'm a pepperoni pizza guy and this one is tasty. Yes to supporting small business (when it's good) and Steve's gets all five of my stars. read more

Love this cute little local pizza place. We came here when we were in town for my nephew's graduation. It is my nephews favorite pizza place. And you can tell it's a local favorite for all the college kids. They sell beer and seltzers and offer you shots. lol my kind of place. They have a great salad bar. Not a good first time experience. I'm going to blunt with this review because I felt ripped off from the service to the food. It was overpriced and the service didn't justify that price tag for a salad,wings and a drink. . I found some black gunk in my ice cube from the soda fountain by the way. The ice cubes had black specs all over it. I'm tempted to call the health department but maybe someone will see this review and investigate. The staff were rude and more concerned with Uber eats orders . Service is big with me and the staff just felt lazy . 28 bucks for ONE trip to the salad bar (the cashier told me it's not a buffet and I wasn't allowed anymore) . Even your bougie artisanal grass-fed local version. I continue to give Steve's high praise not only because it is what I was raised upon, but also because I believe it is delicious. This last visit I was out with my Mom who decided that she wanted pizza. So I called them up and ordered a "Steve" which was obviously to go. No, it's not cheap. Took it (and Mom) to a park because all of the chairs there are outside and it was empty. Steve's is a solid pizza spot in town. Quality ingredients and great tasting food. A bit expensive, so I usually come on Tuesdays for their BOGO L/XL pizza deal. Sign up for five star rewards to get deals and rewards points. I've only ever had "The Steve" and pepperoni pizza here. The staff has always been nice and cordial to me at every visit. They're masked up for COVID, and social distancing doesn't ever appear to be a problem. For this visit, I called in a takeout order and it was ready in 20 minutes. The Steve is your standard combo pizza: pepperoni, salami, olives, tomato, bell peppers, sausage, mushrooms, onions. Tastes great, a go-to classic pizza. I remembered to take a photo this time, so you can check out what it looks like. Though, I think most yelpers get this (judging from the photos). I ordered an UberEats pickup order from Cupid's Wings in Davis with the item as pictured. Interestingly, there wasn't a restaurant actually called Cupid's Wings that can be found on the maps, nor there was any signage at the address suggesting that there was a restaurant named Cupid's Wings at the location. Instead, you only see Steve's Pizza outside at the address and that they do sell chicken wings during happy hour. As I entered the location and stood in line and wait, the kitchen staff just handed me the order without saying a word. I knew this order was mine because I asked for Hot Sauce with a Diet Pepsi with my order, and it was the only 8pcs that they were cooking up (they weren't cooking anything else at the time). The location was relatively empty with only a few other tables being seated. Although I thought it was weird that the kitchen staff would hand someone an order without saying anything, I digress... Originally, I thought paying $20 for 8x chicken tenders would last me both lunch and dinner, especially given the size of those tenders indicated in the picture. Upon opening the box, however, I can say I was beyond disappointed. The size of the "tenders" (or I mean nuggets) were somewhere between a popcorn chicken nugget and a McDonald's McNugget. Although the nugget uses actual chicken, the breading makes up a big portion of the nugget that you would consume. As for the food itself goes, they were cooking these nuggets and french fries in the pizza oven, so you can see that parts of the fries and nuggets were starting to be burnt. The fries were quite dry and so were the nuggets. The nuggets themselves taste and look exactly like the ones you would get at Grocery Outlet, where you would buy a large bag of orange chicken for $4.99, but bake the nuggets minus the sauce (which I often do myself at home using an air-fryer). I think it was pretty outrageous that they could be charging almost $20 for 8 tiny nuggets, fries, and drink (almost like a McDonald's Happy Meal) where I could have gotten 20 larger nuggets at McDonald's for $5, a large drink for a $1, and large fries for $1 under the app. While initially hoping to save the leftovers for dinner, the nuggets were so tiny that I ended up going to Jack in the Box a couple of blocks away afterward and getting another combo meal since they gave me so little food for $20. $30 total for a fast-food lunch?
