3.25 stars Stuck at the emergency room at Kaiser Walnut Creek. Cafeteria was closed and only vending machines were available. We'd already been here about 7 hours and missed dinner. Pizza Guys to the rescue. They were still open at 9:15 pm. And located directly across the street from the hospital. Food is on par with similar pizza chains like R_ _ _d T_ _ _e. Ordered lemon pepper wings and a classic veg pizza. Wings were tiny but tasty. And while not real juicy, they weren't dry or overcooked either. Ordered pizza on thin crust. Still too thick and doughy for me but was baked to my preference. Toppings were generous and tasty enough. Fresh veggies were fresh. Canned olives didn't taste tinny. I realize quickly that my salad is missing. I ran out to ask driver if she had it and also call Pizza Guys to ask about it since it's on my receipt. The guy on the phone told me it was the driver's fault, she forgot it and did I want it? Of course, I paid for it, it is supposed to be my lunch and just simply "yes." No apology or anything. It's becoming common that my orders are incomplete and no apology or recompense. It's usually the sauce or dressing and the last 3 times it's been I have ordered garlic rolls and get this garlic cheese pizza thing. I'm not a lover of complaints, so it took my entire lunch to be missing for me to actually complain. Anyway, I called @11:36AM to report the issue. The worker told me that he will have driver come back, if I wanted, and deliver my lunch to me. Yes sir, I'm hungry.... It did just arrive @12:01 PM. The driver was so sweet and apologized. This is my first time at pizza guys, and I like it. The jalapeño bread stick is very jalapeñoy and cheesy. Less bready which is very very good. Not such a big fan of Muncheez though, the stuffed potatoes seems thawed from being frozen. Simple things like potatoes shouldn't be frozen in the food. I am giving 4 stars because if the jalapeño bread sticks, will order it again. Hopefully next time will find some other good item in the menu. Overall nice late night snacks. read more

Alright came back to try this place again. This time we did some testing. Previously, we got a regular crust pizza with pepperoni and mushroom. This time we got the same pizza in thin crust and thick crust. The thin crust is terrible. Never thought I would say this but this is truly the first pizza crust that tasted like cardboard! Why the 4 star rating? Well the saving grace is that everything else was great. The pepperoni topping is crispy, crunchy, and flavorful. The sauce is the right balance of sweet and tangy. TheA cheese is composed. The thick crust had a strong showing - best crust out of the three options. Good experience here last night. Placed an order over the phone. The employee advised me to order a different size based on current deals they were running (Yay! love getting the most bang for my buck). My food was ready within the advised amount of time. The pizza I ordered was tasty, the wings were also good (i did bone-in, buffalo). To-Go wings are always sketchy, because the sauce and condensation of packaging tend to make crispy wind soggy; these wings actually held up pretty well to sauce and transportation! They did a good job. I order once a month from them, and they make the order in a really quick and timely fashion. The pizza is pretty good. Solid. No complaints. And they have plenty of coupons (make sure to check!) I use the app to order online, but if I screw something up, I can call and they usually fix it right away. We ordered from here through UberEats, so not sure if that has anything to do with how they value people's orders.... but, the pizza we ordered was supposed to be THIN crust. The crust was clearly regular as it was really THICK! and on top of that, it was under-cooked which was really gross, so we had to throw it in the oven for another 10min to get it done. At least the toppings were fresh, so that was one plus. We also ordered a side of wings. They were very, very greasy (we ordered plain, oven roasted...these were clearly fried). So the last time I wanted to order Pizza Guys for the house, my husband said NO. It was really the 2 for $20 deal I wanted. So I disobeyed and ordered it anyway. I was disappointed in the pizza but obviously had to pretend I really liked it when my husband raised his eyebrow after first bite. Since then, I've been introduced to Sliver, Build, Armendi's and even Domino's new thin crust. Thin, crunchy crust is my favorite. So when I recently went back onto the Pizza Guys website, in search of a good deal (they have lots of great online coupons), I saw they had two different thins. I called the WC location and asked the difference. Tuscany thin is supposed to be the crispy, crunchy thin. $3 for delivery and 45 min later I had an XL veggie specialty pizza delivered to my work. Unfortunately, the cardboard they disguised as crust was nearly inedible. It was tough and chewy and even hard to bite through. I made sure another girl in the office tried it and she agreed: inedible. Sadly, I'm not at a place in life where I can justify just throwing out a $30 pizza. And even though I imagine if I'd driven it downtown after work, I probably could have talked my way into a refund. But instead of fighting the traffic downtown, I went home and decided I'll have to just eat the toppings when I'm hungry and not being picky. It's been a long time since I've had pizza this bad. Plus, the delivery guy brought TWO tiny packets of cheese and TWO tiny packets of hot peppers - for an XL. Obviously I had tons of my own hot sauce (I keep getting it delivered to my office! Husband loves me). And I love husband enough to finally admit that I was wrong. As a consumer you want to be as informed as possible and Yelp certainly helps. That said, as a consumer you also need to consider your own preferences and filter the information. We're pretty picky on our pies. If you've read our other review we've tried some places here in the Bay Area (others that still need a review) as well as pizza in Italy so I'd like to think we provide a decent range of perspectives. I like trying (sometimes with trepidation) mixed review sites because I'm curious if places are as bad or as good as people say. Oftentimes, it is neither as good or as bad as we think it is. Here's my experience with Pizza Guys..... Pizza Guys does some things right and a few I wish were different but it is what it is. Pros: 1. Online ordering is quick and efficient 2. Delivery was prompt 3. Pizza has decent flavor profile and is better than some and not as good as others (know your food!) 4. Price is decent Negatives: 1. Toppings were a bit spartan but then again, the price point was good so a trade off. 2. When you create an online profile, you leave a credit card. I understand the practice and the site did nothing to make me think this was an issue but the fact I'm leaving a card where security might be a concern did make me stop. They should allow Pay Pal or a one time usage transaction. Again I understand the need for convenience on the assumption you are coming back 3. No red pepper and parmesan. This is a not a big deal since these are staples in my house but it would be a nice touch for those that do not have them handy. 4. Crust is a little gummy but when you are hungry this is not an issue. If you were being really picky then you would might call this out. Bottom Line: Yes, I would order this again. Quick and convenient with decent flavor profile. A winner with the kids many of whom gave similar comments. Uh, before you dismiss the kids comments that kids eat any kind of pizza. These kids are picky teens with very discerning palates. They've tasted good and bad pies so they can hang with the best of the food critics! read more

OK, this place is just plain terrible. The one in Concord is actually pretty good. Recently moved to Walnut Creek and after trying this location, I can tell you I for sure won't go with them again. Ok granted, it was Christmas, I can understand that. I would have waited 2 hours if I had to, no problem. Here's what the problem was: they brought us a pizza with olives when I clearly asked for no olives, it even says it on the receipt! I'll attach a picture for proof. Even the screw up I was ok with, though obviously disappointed. I called up expecting that they would bring us a new one no problem. Nope. Manager tried to just "give a discount with our next order" and when I said that wouldn't do, he tried to get me to settle for a small pizza replacement instead the large I had ordered.... To make things even worse it didn't end up being cheaper. I don't know how much their toppings are but the pizza itself was supposed to be $11.99 plus one topping and the bill was just under $20 ($19 something). $7 for an additional topping, really? The whole experience even got better when we noticed right there on the box that we were supposed to get something for free for ordering over $12. No one ever told us that and we did not get our free item. Bottom line is we won't be ordering from here again and will stick with Mountain Mike's. read more

An average place for a cheap quick in home pizza dinner. nothing special. the dough is premade you call tell from the bubbles in the pizza base. the toppings are sparingly placed. you will be lucky if you find 10 good pieces of chicken in your large pizza. price is awesome for $10 bucks you can feed 2 to 3 if you are light eaters. if you check in yelp when you get there you get to choose between a 1.5L drink or a small ice cream tub. If you are looking for a cheap pizza and quick service this place works out. if you are looking for good cheese and abundant toppings and fresh dough this is not the place. you get what you pay for. I am reviewing the Pizza Guys not for the their pizza, but rather their team of knucklehead drivers that ignore every traffic sign, line, stripe, nearby car whether in front of them of behind them and/or cyclists or walker. We have witnessed, in less than a week, one driver in a white Corolla, which wreaks of speed and nimbleness, shoot through a stop sign, with no hesitation, while chirping the tires. A few nights later a proud Pizza Guy delivery kook was driving his gold Civic down Walnut Blvd, passing people over double yellow lines, while screaming and honking. We have called them both times to let them know and have talked to very nice and seemingly shocked associates saying they will let the owners know. Here's the deal. We will never eat at the Pizza Guys for one simple reason. They are hiring reckless and feckless people to deliver their pizzas, which means their judgement is flawed, which means you are likely going to get a pizza with the same attributes. Reliable & fast pickup for carryout, which I have used many times. Reasonable prices, but watch for coupons as this will save you a few bucks. Also, a nice touch is that if you order 2 pizzas, they will come with a free 2 liter bottle of soda, or a pint of ice cream -- your choice. I find their pizzas to be rather on the salty side, but then this is true of pretty much all pizza joints. Their pizzas are generally of similar quality to Dominos or Pizza Hut . . . pretty average, but you get what you pay for. I'm going with 3.5 stars and rounding up to 4 for being ready quick . . . and also because no orders have been screwed up yet (which I can't say for their competition). I wasn't sure what to make of this place after yelping pizza joints last weekend, but I had three hungry dudes and myself to feed. After calling one place that apparently had the wrong number listed online, and another that didn't deliver until after 4:00 (Seriously?), I decided to go for it. I ordered two XL pizzas: one with Canadian bacon on the whole pizza and mushrooms added to one side, and one that was half cheese, and half mushrooms and onions. I liked that they mixed yellow and red onions. The pizza came in a timely fashion, and tasted good. I really liked how the crust tasted. I didn't order thin or deep dish, just regular. My husband and friends thought it was good, too. The one thing I can say that would give me pause from ordering again is the pricing. I didn't see any deals online, so I had to pay full price. I am not proud of this at all, but I paid $57 for two pizzas, one two liter of Diet Coke, a 20 oz. Mug Root Beer, delivery, and tip.
