I came here with my son on a Thursday and scored their kids-eat-free deal with an adult entrée purchase! I ordered the salmon on bread (I can't remember the exact name, but it was fantastic). It is baked fresh in their brick oven. My son devoured the spaghetti and meatballs--which even came with a scoop of ice cream. The service was definitely on the slow side, but the food made up for it. We also grabbed a chicken fettuccine to go for dinner later--they offer these meals for just $6! I've been wanting to come back for dinner ever since.

We went to Tom and Tina last night group of six and dinner was great. We were celebrating a birthday. Our server Jake came right over and took care of us. Got to start off with some water. We ended up sitting outside on this winter evening and it wasn't bad at all. There was a heater right above us. It was pretty comfortable even for my mom. Will they have some garlic bread to look good so we try to start off with that? They served with a warm marinara, which is also pretty good. They also had an assortment of hot tea which we enjoyed it as well. Then we got down to the dinner. The dinner were great couple got pasta dishes, so I got a pizza for the table and we all had salads. They had a mixt salad which was great. The food came out. They accommodated all of our wishes and Ava gave us a free drink for the birthday girl and then I have to say they had a great dessert which was like an apple crumb with a gelato assortment. Once again, I'd recommend this restaurant because the location is nice and there's something that everyone will like on the menu steak seafood pasta. We also didn't eat all of our food so we took some to go. And finally, it is a note that my sister called this morning and said that she left her purse there and she couldn't reach anyone this morning when she realized it, but she went back out there this morning and they handed her purse. It was right there up under the table where we sat last night so that was great.

This was my first time being back at Tomatina since my friends and I had a horrible experience here a few years ago (we had to wait for our food and drink for around 30mins and our waitress was very rude... I assume it was because we were in high school at the time). This time around service was fine and our servers were very attentive. It wasn't very busy and the inside was toasty and dark. My friend and I opted to sit in the patio which was very nice because it was a little too warm inside for us. The hostess was very friendly. The garlic rolls were decent and soft. The marina paired well with it. I wouldn't recommend the garden pizza unless you want to have a mouthful of spinach. It was pretty good, but only after you take out the heap of spinach and bell peppers off it. The chicken fettuccine lacked Parmesan and tasted like buttered noodles.

I love Tomatina for Italian comfort food in a casual environment. You always know what you're going to get. There is a lot to be said for consistency. We prefer this location over the Alameda one. The service is better here, and no screaming kids to date, unlike in Alameda where that is more common than not. I order the spaghetti with alfredo sauce every time, sometimes with mushrooms added, and RB usually gets the meatballs. We'll typically share a half Caesar salad; the half portion is plenty, and they don't skimp on the anchovies! The food is always tasty, and when I'm in the mood for pasta, this place always hits the spot. The service has always been good here, with friendly and attentive staff. They have outdoor seating, which I prefer. Great for people-watching. This restaurant has been around for a while, and could use a bit of a facelift at this point. Investing into some renovations and sprucing up would go a long way in making the place even more inviting. Glad this staple is in downtown Walnut Creek, and we will continue to visit.

Tomatina's for the win! They came in cutch for me and my husband who were in town celebrating our rehearsal dinner. We called Wednesday and they were able to accommodate 30+ guests on Friday evening. We were immediately served drinks and salads came out shortly after. We got bruschetta and garlic knots for appetizers which were delicious! Everyone seemed to enjoy their entrees because I saw lots of empty plates. My fettuccine was great! Most people order the special (short rib ravioli). All in total they got us in and out of there in around 2 hours and it was great from start to finish. Kayla (manager I believe) was so beyond helpful and sweet. This restaurant saved our night!

I made a reservation for my birthday and was disappointed the table they saved us was outside in the cold on their covered patio. Ambiance was still nice. The garlic bread was delicious. The server was friendly. The Alfredo was flavorless so bland. I enjoyed the tuscan arranbiata. The mixta salad was really good. The apple crisp was my partners favorite part. They brought the salad and pasta out at the same time which was a little inconvenient. Overall I liked the food and would go back.

Walt from Walt's Adventures reporting from Walnut Creek, California and I am in Tomatina. This Italian restaurant has both indoor and outdoor covered dining. We were immediately directed to our table and within minutes, gave our orders and were sipping on our drinks. It was clear that I had overlooked this diamond in the city for far too long. First to arrive was the Garlic Rolls. This appetizer was to die for. They were the best I have ever eaten. Our meals had great presentations and all tasted fantastic. Four of five stars for we had a wait for our refills and I was told that I could input my honors number to receive the complimentary 10.00 membership reduction but failed where to do so. I now have a favorite Italian restaurant in the San Francisco east Bay Area. If you want the best garlic rolls you will ever consume, then seek out Tomatina.

Fantastic experience!! Our group came in and were promptly greeted by Fred. (Such a gem!) He ran through the menu and gave excellent recommendations. Let me say the food was as good as the company...and I don't just mean my group, I mean the staff! Not only was Fred fantastic, but mah girl Raphaela was amazing as well! Quick with a drink and a joke! My type of woman! Anyway the special fantastic as was my friends' piadine were fantastic! And Fred and Raphaela wooed us with their charm! Definitely a must return!

We finally made it in after having this place on our list for a while, and it did not disappoint! Came with family and were seated inside--such a quaint, intimate little spot with a cozy vibe. You can see the open kitchen and the wood-fire oven where they make their pizzas and piadine, which adds to the charm. We started with the garlic rolls (absolutely drenched in a dreamy mix of garlic, oregano, EVOO, and parmesan--SO good) and the house-made onion focaccia. We asked for Alfredo, marinara, and pesto to dip them in (yes, we have Olive Garden kids in the crew lol), and they were happy to oblige. One of the kids ordered a cheese pizza, and it came out massive--like medium/large size--and was surprisingly flavorful for a simple cheese pie. My son got the Chicken Alfredo and added shrimp. The pasta was perfectly cooked with that ideal "tooth" bite, and the creamy sauce was delicious. Both the chicken and shrimp were cooked to perfection. I usually lean toward seafood, but this time I tried the lemon chicken, and WOW. It was a thin, egg-battered fillet, pan-seared and bursting with lemon zest flavor. It came with gemelli pasta in a creamy sauce with spinach, peas, and tomatoes--so bright, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. I loved it way more than I expected to. Someone else at our table had the bruschetta, and I was pleasantly surprised--the bread was soft (not the usual overly toasted kind), and the pesto was amazing. Service was friendly and attentive. It's a small place, and it gets busy, but that just confirms how popular and well-loved it is. Can't wait to come back to try more items--and next time, we're definitely sitting outside on the cute patio! An added plus, The city of Walnut Creek has partnered with a piano gallery and placed pianos all over the city for people to freely play on... My son learned how to play piano by ear when he was 3 years old so he decided to play a little something after dinner! He started to attract a tiny crowd, and got nervous and that's why he got up and walked away lol But that ALSO added to the ambiance & charm of the entire evening.

The service was amazing and it was a great vibe overall. The food was great and surprisingly affordable! 10/10 RECOMMEND!! Dillan was especially amazing and provided very high quality service!

Ended up at Tomatina's again. We seem to always forget about it when we are thinking about places to go and then, bam lets go to Tomatina. We have always sat outside on the patio facing the sidewalk instead of inside. There's a random piano across the street where individuals of a range of skill levels seranade the crowd. The patio is not a parklet in the street so you you don't have to fear for your life from a out of control car making a mess of your linguine. I usually get the meatball appetizer and my partner some kind of a carbo pasta dish and we split a caesar salad. The sauce on the meatballs is spicy enough and lots of it. I occasionally have a bite of the pasta which is also excellent. Service is great and everyone is super polite. This location is smaller than the Alameda one which we hit once in awhile. I like the DubC place better. I know its a chain and the food should all be the same but there is a difference. Also, full bar and totally adequate wine and beer list all at a good price.

    Caesar Salad

Tomatina in Walnut Creek is one of those spots that's always busy for a reason...it's super casual, consistently tasty, and right in the heart of downtown. It can feel a little cramped and hectic, which is honestly the downside, but that's also how you know people love it. The garlic rolls are so great... make sure to get a side of ranch along with the marinara. I tried their seasonal butternut squash ravioli, which was good but had a lot going on flavor-wise. The potato leek soup, though, was perfect on a rainy day, comfort food in a bowl. Their Caesar salad is fine but nothing fancy, definitely a little mid. The real star here is the pepperoni pizza: simple, classic, and seriously delicious. Even the kids' menu is great, especially the mac and cheese (which I never mind finishing at home later). And their strawberry lemonade is my favorite drink to get here. It's a great stop if you're shopping or hanging out downtown, but probably a little too busy and loud for a chill date night. Service is okay since they're always slammed, you usually have to ask for what you need rather than them being super proactive. Still, when you want something easy, comforting, and reliably good, Tomatina totally hits the spot.

Ordered fettuccine Alfredo to go. Was $21 and was surprised how small the portion was for the price. The pasta barely covered the bottom of the container

I ordered the fried spaghetti as an appetizer, a chicken Caesar salad, the Chicken Marsala for my entrée, and an espresso martini. Everything was absolutely delicious. Our server, Brittany, was friendly, personable, and took responsibility when there was a delay in service. I asked for a bowl of water for my dog as soon as we were seated, but it took about 20 minutes before it was brought to the table and our order was taken. She sincerely apologized, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, I've experienced similar delays with other servers during previous visits. I also noticed the bartender place coffee beans into an espresso martini using her bare hands. Although I didn't say anything at the time, it made me uncomfortable from a hygiene standpoint. When I ordered another drink, Brittany used a utensil to place the coffee beans into the drink, which I felt was much more appropriate. Overall, the food was outstanding, as always, and that's what keeps me coming back. I hope the restaurant improves its service times and reinforces proper food handling practices so every guest can enjoy the same great dining experience.

The pace of our dinner moved along exactly as expected. Service (Jess, et al) is friendly, professional and timely. Members of the service staff moved in and out efficiently to refill water, remove plates and keep our table uncluttered. I will also say that the service was very good- considering that it was very crowded at the time, however I had an odd experience with a hostess. My indian family was made to sit at the corner of the restaurant, by the bathrooms. However I want to keep in mind that maybe it was a bad day, and the rest of the staff were very polite to us.

We chose Il Fornaio Walnut Creek to celebrate both my birthday and my daughter's birthday. We were pleasantly surprised by the spacious, elegant dining room. When making our reservation, we noted that we were celebrating two birthdays. As a party of 10, including a 5-month-old baby and a 3-year-old toddler, we were seated at a large family-style table in a quieter area of the restaurant. It felt like we had our own private celebration space. The kitchen did not disappoint. We ordered two Tomahawk steaks, which were expertly prepared and carved tableside by the chef. Every dish we ordered was delicious, and the affogato was one of the best I have ever had. Unfortunately, our waiter fell short of the restaurant's otherwise high standards. Despite ordering appetizers, salads, and drinks, our water glasses remained empty for extended periods. My husband eventually had to speak with the manager because neither the waiter nor his assistant seemed attentive. Since the restaurant was not busy on a Monday evening, this was disappointing. The manager was excellent and quickly addressed our concerns. When she asked about the birthday celebration, I explained that both my daughter and I were celebrating, yet only one candle was provided despite our mentioning this during the reservation and to our waiter. The manager immediately apologized for the oversight. Another issue arose when we requested the dessert menu. Our grand baby was becoming restless as it approached bedtime, so we wanted to order quickly. However, our waiter repeatedly told us to wait until he had completely cleared the table before bringing the desert menu. It was an unnecessary delay. Obviously, we could have already been reading through the dessert menu while he was clearing the table. Our waiter did not know about time Management. To make matters worse, the complimentary birthday ice cream was served to the wrong person, even though the waiter had been told multiple times who the birthday celebrants were. We also requested an extra candle for my daughter's tiramisu, but that request was ignored. We shared one birthday candle. Despite the service issues, I still consider this restaurant a very good for dining experience because of its outstanding food, attentive manager, talented chefs, and warm atmosphere. We spent over $800 on dinner and typically leave a 25% tip for excellent service. However, due to the lack of attentiveness by the waiter and waiter assistant, we gave only a 20% tip. (Honestly, the chef and the manager deserved the tip More than the waiter himself.) Please don't give this waiter a large party because, the service has a negative impact and leaves a sour taste. I would give this restaurant a 5 star, it only fell short because of this waiter. Il Fornaio Walnut Creek offers food and ambiance that rival much more expensive restaurants. With more attentive service and better attention to detail, the overall experience would be truly exceptional.

Our waiter left us sitting for very long periods of time between courses, and we actually had to flag down another server to get the check. For my part, I expected better than the food I received. My husband and I split the chopped Italian salad, which we both agreed was rather flavorless and definitely underdressed. I ended up pouring some of the oil and balsamic vinegar from the bread dipping plate into the salad, which made it a little better. I ordered the Tuesday Trio which was a sampling of three supposedly popular pasta dishes. The Tagliatelle with Ragu was OK but a little dry. The corkscrew pasta with sun-dried tomatoes and pesto cream sauce was actually quite good, but my biggest disappointment was their rigatoni à la vodka, which is one of my favorite dishes. This restaurant's version was heavily flavored with smoky bacon, which, in my opinion really drowned out the lightness of a creamy vodka sauce. It was also pretty salty - I couldn't really eat it. However, my husband's Pollo de Toscana was delicious. Overall, I was unimpressed. I know there are better Italian places out there. Probably won't be back.

We were lucky enough that Onur (manager) welcomed us with no hesitation and have us a little space to relax with our daughter and enjoy a wonderful dinner. We ordered the Appetizer for Two, which includes: Bruschetta, Caprese, Prosciutto Melone, & Beet Salad - a perfect amount for the two of us. Then we each got the Beef Wellington. Again, never a disappointment. YOU MUST TRY IT! To finish the night I had a latte and we shared a salted caramel gelato. Absolutely delightful. If you haven't tried La Fontaine, I highly recommend giving them a try. The weekends are busy, so if you're able to step out on a week night, do it. Ask for Onur the manager and he'll take care of you. Enjoy

The staff member that checked us in offered no smile or effort to be personable when seating us nor mentioned our anniversary which was noted in our reservation. This continued through her work at our table over the course of the night. Our server at least smiled on his visits to our table, but there is an opportunity for the staff to better connect with guests for a more positive overall experience. They offer good wine by the glass options and a nice pour for the price. We started with the octopus appetizer which we had enjoyed on our prior visit and it was once again fantastic. We had the duck and beef Wellington for entrees. The duck was a nicely prepared and sauced breast. The beef Wellington was fine, with a few medium rare bites in the middle very good. The dish would have been more successful if more of the beef had been medium rare. The lack of personable service on this visit made for a mediocre visit. Our anniversary was noted in our reservation but was never acknowledged, which was disappointing.

Our group of 3 sat outside in their lovely side alleyway and feasted on 6 delicious shared small plates plus their scrumptious dessert sampler. This was plenty of food for all of us, although I might have been able to force down one more small plate since everything was so delectable. We ordered: -- Cacio e pepe biscuit -- Esquites (Mexican street corn) -- Empanadas -- Tacos al pastor -- Ceviche tostadas -- Alaskan black cod The black cod dish was seriously incredible and a standout amid the other wonderful dishes. The waiter mentioned it had been on their menu for 22 years and that people traveled there to try it. I can believe it! Speaking of service, it was exceptional. Along with our friendly main waiter, there were other staff refilling water glasses and changing table settings quickly as needed. We waited on nothing but also never felt interrupted. Since Va da Vi IS a wine bar, I should mention that wine was also wonderful. I tried their Pinot Noir flight and enjoyed all 3 of the 3 oz samplings, especially the 2023 Status Quo and the 2023 "Klee" by Roots Wine Co. Is it pricey? Well, a little, but not for the quality. I've eaten at places just as expensive and left far less satisfied. I can see the bill adding up quickly for a group who wants a huge meal, but if you're into just sipping and nibbling on amazing food and wine, come!

Menu items are on the high side, so be prepared to shell out some dough. We had a nice waiter, pleasant, cheerful, and very accommodating. I would give the waiter a rating between 4 and 5 stars. It was near closing time when we got there, but we didn't feel rushed to order or eat our dinner so that they could clean up and close the restaurant and head on home. We started with an appetizer and garlic bread (see picture). We had about six pieces of bread and as you can see in the picture, it was on the burnt side. I cannot believe that for the price you pay for a bread, they would serve this. I also ordered a black coffee, but it tasted like it had been sitting there since the morning and tasted really nasty. I asked to have a hot tea instead. Food was good. We ordered spaghetti, carbonara, some chicken dish, and a grilled salmon. All the food tasted delicious and we cleaned out the carbonara and spaghetti. After we ate our dinner, they gave my son-in-law a slice of tiramisu with a lighted candle. Overall, it was a pleasant evening and we enjoyed our food (except for the garlic bread). I'd like to see them do me good and give me a nice garlic bread the next time I eat here.
