The service was great and the pizza the amazing. For my first time there i love the atmosphere. I would definitely go back.

This used to be one of my favorite places. In the past years it's gotten worse and worse. It's pretty dingy, booths that don't match or need repair, an odor around the restrooms, dingy and nasty looking cups and silverware. The food is progressively worse as well. I ordered a salad last time and it was literally a hunk of lettuce, not chopped hardly. The tea had a funny taste like soapy water almost. I couldn't drink it. A decent pizza. Service is extremely slow. Took over 60 minutes to get a 14" pizza, and the restaurant was not packed between 8:30pm and 9:30pm. I've been going here about every month or two for the past 2.5 years. It was my family's go to pizza place and we LOVED it. This last time my husband and I each had one slice and were not impressed. The sauce tasted really off and it was not good. We usually get a big pizza to eat left overs and they went bad in the fridge because neither of us wanted another slice. This is the best place for pizza. Hands down. The service was very speedy and friendly; and the food is incredible. My favorite pizza spot.

Was in town for a show downtown and we had been recommended this spot. We started with dough balls which are exactly as they sound. They were fine. I got the spinach and feta calzone, and it was great. My boyfriend got a Stromboli, and he mentioned it was more bread than anything else. I have been there 4 times and every single time my order either did not come out or I had multiple pizzas on my table that we did not order. Today I went to Pizza Joint on Broad St during my lunch break. It was during the lunch rush so it was busy. I sat myself and was greeted within a few minutes. My server was nice and polite. I ordered the lunch special of a slice of pizza and a half sandwich. It took about 30 minutes for my food to get to my table. While I understand it was during the lunch rush, 30 minutes is still a bit too long to wait, especially since a party of 4 (who sat down after me) got their food well before me. Overall, the food was good. Next time I'll return after the lunch rush. read more

First of all let me start off by saying I do not like pizza very much the boyfriend however, loves it. (I know what you're thinking why would you go to a pizza place then?) I am fine with getting something else whenever we go to a pizza place and just having a slice. Here we go: This place is awesome! We got a salad, wings and a pizza (duh), I recommend getting the hot wings. The wings aren't too spicy, and you can enjoy the wings without setting your mouth on fire! The atmosphere was great, the servers are friendly. It reminds me of a college pizza joint. Once Don't Stop Believin' by Journey comes on, you bet your sweet ass the whole place will be singing along! The place is just great, I even enjoyed the pizza. Dinner with Friends Service was without reproach but the new item on the menu chicken calzone was horrible, couldn't eat it, friends wanted to taste it and they couldn't eat it, the waitress asked if we wanted a box to take it home, no thank you! Great local place to grab a slice of pizza and a beer. The Mediterranean and Bleu Buffalo pizza are my personal favorites. Good selection of beer with rotating specials. The service is hit or miss. Don't go in expecting a fancy Italian restaurant and you will be pleased. read more

I'm not one to review restaurants, but after a truly awful service experience I felt like I had to. Went to Pizza Joint last night for trivia. Not one waitress stopped at our table until we asked for one. We ordered our food and waited an hour and a half only to cancel our order. When we asked our waitress what was taking so long she said "The kitchen is backed up." She never once came on her own to tell us. The manager came out and said, "Well, you've only been waiting an hour for your food." We never received an apology... not once. We cancelled our order immediately after. This was truly a horrible experience. The food is below average, and the service is even worse. Will not be going back. read more

My wife and I have enjoyed the downtown Pizza Joint for 25 years. Last night we went for a pitcher of beer and two slices of cheese pizza. An hour and 45 minutes later we had nursed our way through the beer and still no pizza. We asked several times about the pizza and the server always answered with " they didn't tell me how long it will be before your pizza is ready." We saw several parties that arrived after us that were served and already departed. The manager on duty shrugged her shoulders as to why our pizza had not arrived. I asked for the check for the beer and the server said don't worry it's taken care of. The manager ran over to our table and offered a free slice of cheese pizza to go. For. N hour and 45 minutes there was no cheese pizza and now a single piece suddenly appears? There were two of us, so we refused the single slice of pizza. She threw the box across the aisle to a shelf and turned her back and walked away. We left and picked up Little Caesar's on the way home. Very disappointed on the service and treatment. We will not be back. By the way, Little Caesar's pizza is far superior to the pizza served by the Pizza Joint. Mr. Reynolds, My name is Leslie Lowery. A pitcher of beer and two slices of pizza is our standard order. Sometimes after the pitcher I have an extra pint of beer. We always leave a $5 tip. When we had no beer and my water glass was empty we just wanted to go and our server was no where to be found. It was a while later I had to grab him as he ran past our table. A waitress waiting in the adjacent table is the only person that cared enough to ask if she could get me some more water. That night there was no interest in checking on our food. Our server never asked if he could get us more beer or water or checked on our food. I understand things happen but to not care as your staff did that night was rude and the people were uncaring. My wife has no interest in coming back. She feels our order is too small as the reason we got no care from your staff. We live a mile from the Evans location but always went downtown because we just liked it better. The atmosphere seems to have changed quite a bit. We haven't been there for awhile because of my knee replacement surgery. The genuine hospitality you talk about was not present on a night we were really craving it. My wife says she will never go back and I am looking for additional sites to place my review. I looked up your name. YOU were the manager on duty ! Instead of sending the do nothing waiter over to tell us the beer was taken care of why didn't you come to the table to see what the problem was? Why would you offer a single slice of pizza to go when it was my wife and I there for what was supposed to be a simple dinner? Why was cheese pizza so readily available at that time and not available to be served to us with our beer? Neither you or your sorry waiter said I am sorry for what happened. Do you really think we would bother to come back? If you had brought pizza to the table and apologized I would have ordered a pint of beer and accepted an apology and paid the check. Mistakes happen and as busy as the place was it was understandable that our order was lost or picked up by another server. But for an hour and 45 minutes we were left unattended and with a waiter that never checked on our pizza. Absolutely delightful! I went to this place after a show and it was great. The service was impeccable and quite friendly. I half expected our server to sit down and join us. Huge variety of toppings to chose if you get a pizza, and lots of other things. I ordered a sub with tons of veggies and anchovies. Great sandwich! I think it's called a Big Mike or something. This place is disgusting. The menus are filthy and the service is the worst in the entire area. I'm shocked people think this a good place to hang out or bring a date. The days when the place was new are over. Their novelty has worn off. The food is cheap quality bread with grocery store clearance vegetables. Hygiene is important. The outdoor tables are never cleaned to disinfect. On a past trip a server had long sleeves on during 100 degree temps. Her sleeves had holes and frays all over. how does this guy stay in business, this is my third trip to this place and every time there is problems. this time a coworker suggested it, so we went, we got a half cheese/half pepperoni pizza, diet coke and lemonade. they didn't have sugar for the lemonade (huh), whatever, we got the pizza in no time at all, like really fast. we were eating all is good the crust was a little hard and the pizza was a little dryer than I like. Then I pieced two and two together. they reheated some pizza and threw pepperoni's on it. what a pathetic place. Pizza Joint is the quintessential Augusta Restaurant; and lo, it consistently wins a Best of Augusta each year. It has REALLY crappy service. They will give you the check, and not show up for another 15 minutes, then take your card and return in 10 more minutes. Why not just cash out your customers quickly so you can clear up the table for more people? It's just as puzzling as "why not incentivize business and residence in what could be a highly cool downtown area, instead of leaving it relegated to drug dealers and drunks?" These are the mysteries of Augusta. The slices are large, and pizza is thin and not super memorable. Be prepared to wait a decent amount of time for your food: not the place for those shy conversationalists or obligatory final dinner before a breakup. As I am essentially a vegetarian, I cannot speak for the meatzza, but I can say that the treehugger is usually my go to pie when having a sit down meal. But nevermind all that, you silly goose! The real reason to go to pizza joint is singular: pizza lunch buffet, the best one in town. There, I said it. For something like $7.00 they grant you exclusive (not that exclusive) access to a heated line of pizzas and some iceberg lettuce with ranch dressing. You can just keep going back, a gastronomical nightmare yet the sin qua non of American Overconsumption. And I can't look away. Despite my positive family history of Coronary Artery Disease, and my father's close relationship with the Fuqua Heart Center and their great work, I will fill my gorde at Pizza Joint (either here or Evans) on most fridays. Only visit if you can sit at the bar and if Rose or Ashley or Annette are working. I've been coming here for over a year because of these 3. Lots of bars have great beer specials like PJ but if they weren't here I'd walk right out and I have as recent as 3 weeks ago. Rest of staff treats you like they are high on drugs and just don't give 2 shits. Tonight we had a girl training but no trainer was around. We're in the beer club but we got the wrong sized beers. Another tiny grumpy girl with glasses delivered beers to us "Gratis" once Rose realized the new girl got our Beer Club order incorrect, girl in glasses said zero words to us and walked away. We've had this grumpy girl as a bartebder and her heads deep into her phone. Tonight, for the second time in the past 30 days we saw 2 spots open at the bar and sat down with Rose and all was right again. If I was the owner, Mike, I'd immediately fire a bunch of this locations staff and take a loss in profits to protect the image of PJ. In Evans and in Aiken I get excellent service but on Broad I get great service only when Ashley or Rose and Annette are in house. 3 out if 5 stars on Broad is not a winning combination in this industry. read more
