Ok- I have a lot to say about this spot, so buckle up. First, the aesthetic is immaculate. I love that the space is so big and open, and how they have little stations for pop ups. It's the perfect place to have community events! Also, the decor with the vinyls and speakers is so nice. Staff were super friendly and made great recommendations. I ended up getting the mentaiko pasta & a half sisig, half bulgogi NY pie. The pasta was DELICIOUS. No notes- the sauce was perfectly creamy yet light, noodles were well-cooked with a springy-bite, and the mentaiko flavor was just right. Bravo! The pies could used a bit of work. Firstly, the sisig pizza was ALMOST PERFECT. I'd put it at a 9.95/10. You know what would make it better? Hear me out- a light drizzle of sinigang glaze. The pizza is perfectly thin and crispy and the flavor of the pork belly is spot on, it just needs a TEENSY bit more contrast since the calamansi cream is so subtle; the pizza came off as a bit too homogenous at some points. Same thing with the bulgogi- it was a bit too salty and overpowering for my taste, but if y'all added some korean pickled radish on top or on the side, it would be perfect! Went here for a matcha popup but came back later for lunch because we saw the menu and really wanted to try the food. Heads up, they only serve their brunch menu before 2pm, so if you want to try the pizza make sure to come after. Overall, staff was super kind, and the space was lively and full of community. My friend and I shared the a whole mentaiko pizza and got some beers on tap. No complaints on the food - the pizza is the best of its kind in the area... but it did take 45 minutes from the time I paid. Not an exaggeration. I had to ask the staff for an update because I genuinely thought they forgot about us. I understand whole pizza pies would take some time, but I wish someone was transparent with us with how long it was actually going to take. Overall, loved the food and their beer selection. AMBIANCE Parking: Located in Barrio Logan with a dedicated parking lot and street parking. Seating: Inside seating for small groups and large groups. Maybe room for about 50 people. Vibes: Welcome to Barrio Logan! You'll love the grit and grind culture from the shopping good, local flavors, and art that represents Chicano culture. They have a mix of other cultures like Pizza Kaiju mixing some Asian representation. The spot itself is nothing too flashy but a classic pizza shop, taproom aesthetics with some retro decor and vinyl records. They got music playing but also tv in the background to. Great place to hang out with friends or hanging out with family. FOOD Sisig Pizza (Highly Recommend) Deeeelicious. The sisig batch can hold itself well - a nice balance of tender meat, crispy edges and a nice citrus kick from the calamansi. You'll also enjoy some other kicks from the pickled serranos and the red onions. The NY pizza style delivery gives it a good balance with the crust and the flavors. Mentaiko Pasta (Highly Recommend) Another signature dish. This is your alfredo pasta with with Japanese roots - mentaiko (seasoned cod roe). Super frustrating experience. The aesthetic Instagram marketing caught our eye. The adjacent pop-up matcha shop lured us in. But we were in for a rude awakening inside. But it was deeply cluttered with homeless people, one of which we saw actively taking a dump in the bushes nearby. The sidewalks were sticky, wet, and stained with miscellaneous fluids of questionable origin. A decade ago, I used to regularly bike through here and stop by the coffee shop across the street. I don't know what happened since then, I see some failed hints of failed gentrification. We brush it off and walk to the storefront. Immediately we see what looked like an empty pizza cabinet. Confused with how the place operated, the cashier said "oh we only serve cheese and pepperoni pizza by the slice right now". Uuhh ok, it's 11:30am, lunchtime on a weekend and we didn't want a whole pizza. So I just order a side of ube cheese bread, gotta represent my culture. It took nearly 30 minutes to get our order. We almost thought they forgot our order, none of the workers acknowledged or reassured us that it was on its way. In fact they seemed to have ignored all the customers entirely, being too concerned with hanging out in the makeshift plywood room, which looked like a daycare filled with playing kids. If left a lot of people just standing around confused and unsure what was happening. The interior felt minimal and spacious, but unfinished. What a fun place! It caught our attention because we wanted pizza and saw their menu..Sisig Pizza!? We had to try it! The space is fun! We walked in and saw a counter, looked like a sushi counter to me, ( I recently found out they host events there, one being a coffee Omakase which im so excited tobtry!) I was a big fan of theirs at Market on 8th, so I was really happy to see them open back up and now with an even bigger space in Barrio. The place itself is pretty spacious with lots of tables, booths and high chairs to sit at, although the place was pretty packed during my visit. Service were friendly and they seemed to keep things going around, but unfortunately this is where my visit went sideways. The menu was expanded from what I remembered, and they offer beer and other drinks now. I ended up placing an order of a slice of pizza and 6 wings after my BF ordered two slices. We ended up on the same ticket, which was cool, and he ended up getting his slices in about 10 mins or so. However, after that, my order never came while others around the restaurant were getting theirs. I thought maybe since the other groups had ordered full pizzas, that's what was causing the delay. After about 25-30 mins, my BF asked a passing server, while I ended up catching the cashier who rang me up, and after a couple more mins, my order finally came out. The food was good and freshly made, but by then the BF had finished his food and we were starting to run late for a show in downtown, so I had to eat a bit quickly. The space is really big inside, and I was surprised to see they even have a separate kids' play area in the building, which is a nice touch. You order at the counter. *Wednesdays are $1 wings (minimum of six), and they feature a different special wing each week. *Thursdays are burger night. I ordered the Soy Garlic wings and a slice of the Mashed Potato pizza. *Soy Garlic Wings: these were DELICIOUS. The wings are huge and super flavorful, and they come with ranch on the side. Definitely a solid wing special. *Mashed Potato Slice: was amazing and so unique. Big scoops of mashed potatoes on top with a crispy New York-style crust. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it totally worked. The employee behind the bar was really friendly and easy to talk to. They have TVs up so I watched the Winter Olympics while I ate and ended up chatting with a few people at the bar too. Everyone was very friendly. This place is located in Bario Logan, next to the 5 freeway, close to a Mexican supermarket, and next to a barber shop. They just moved here from another location, so it still looks like some parts of the restaurant are still being renovated. They have beer, pizza by the slice, and pizza made to order. Their pizza comes in deep dish style or hand tossed. They take your order at the counter and then give you a number to take to your table. The decor is that of a chill living room and bar with a few sofas and small tables. The staff were very friendly. We asked for some garlic sauce and that was a game changer! I highly recommend this. They have a lot of unique flavors as well as traditional ones. I love the pepperoni pan slice. It was crispy, savory, cheesy, and chewy. The sisig and mentaiko were excellent as well. I'm not really one to leave reviews on yelp, but I felt I had to make an exception. My family and I came in to eat today after a friend recommended it to me. First, I was really excited to try this place out because today was the day I was able to eat after cutting weight for a competition. My experience was not worth the hype. I'll start by saying the food was all pretty amazing. They had some of the best wings I've ever had and the pizza was delicious. My problem, however was with the service and the major fly problem in the dining area. It took us about 50 minutes to get our order of wings and well over an hour to get our pizza and fries. Most of my family had left at this point and so did my wife and 2 small children. When I asked about the pizza 45 minutes in, I was told that it's normal for pizzas to take over an hour if 2 or more are ordered at once. I was told that the kitchen was really backed up (there was only one other table in the restaurant besides us). Service was extremely slow to say the least. My last issue was the number of flys inside the restaurant. It was absolutely insane. Overall Food - 5 stars. Nothing but praise here. Service - 1 star. This review is after 3 trips to Pizza Kaiju (admittedly because the first experience wasn't the best) because I wanted to see if things got better since we first went here really soon after their grand opening. The space is really big and open which is great for groups of all sizes. The pizza slice selections rotate daily (with some being there more often than others) so if there's a slice you see online that you want, you probably want to check their Instagram page to see if they posts the slices of the day; alternatively you can get any pizza (whole) made to order. Pizza Kaiju is worth checking out for their take on asian-inspired pizzas. Over the few trips my favorites are definitely the Wonton Don and the Bulgogi Supreme. But their poster child and the one slice everyone must get is the Wonton Don. The cream cheese, tomato sauce, wontons, chili sauce all work so well together and it's such a great combination on pizza. I've also gotten the Mentaiko Cream Pasta which was really tasty and a huge portion. Plus the Chicken Karaage is a really good starter. Outside of our first experience with the cashier (Hispanic lady who wasn't very welcoming and didn't seem to care to be there), every trip has been great. The first time, our food took a while to get ready and so the chef actually came out with an order of Curry Fries on the house which was a very nice gesture. And another time I came to get some of the Ultra Donuts and the cashier added a couple more to our order because she felt bad for her kid who was making loud noises in the kitchen (which really didn't bother us at all). Pizza Kaiju also hosts a lot of collaborations with other eateries and hosts these events which is nice to see. The concept was probably good but it did not deliver the experience very well. My first impression was, the restaurant looked disorganized. I am ok with that mostly, my biggest thing is with the food. Curry... Yeah. I will eat it if I am hungry. But there are other places in San Diego that serves similar curry similar price but better quality. I tried the sisig pizza but I think it's underutilizing the Filipino feature. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place. We came in on a Sunday evening and ordered takeout. To be honest, I reaaaally wanted to like this place! I don't think I've tried mentaiko pasta before this experience so I had nothing to compare it to but it did have a strong, creamy fish taste. I was expecting it to be similar to uni pasta. The pizza, on the other hand, was good! It did come in a huge box - maybe a box twice as big as the actual size. When we opened the box, we were so surprised to see it filled only halfway. Would come back for more pizza and try their drinks. Maybe a round pizza or single slice next time. I absolutely loved the chill ambience of the place. It would have been ideal to sip on a beer or any of their cocktails but didn't expect to wait as long as we did. We definitely had more than enough time to grab a drink or two. Portion sizes are large, so perfect to share with a group. And you can do split flavors on the same pizza, so a nice twofer for trying out more flavors! Food The pies here have interesting takes on both new and familiar flavors. Today we had the white pie, sisig, and sausage slices. All of them equally delicious, especially when paired with whatever their ranch is. I don't know exactly what's in the ranch but it pairs so well with every pie we've tried. So far, every pie we've tried here has been great. Service The service was quick, responsive, and overall very hospitable. The staff here are great and very transparent on how long things will take. The people that helped us today were excellent! Ambiance Now that pizza kaiju has significantly more space it's able to express itself much more through its decoration and seating. Pizza Kaiju had different options for appetizers, entrees and also different kind of beers. We ordered the sisig pizza (square), bulgogi pizza (square) and aporkalypse (circle). I enjoyed all of their pizza, but I'm wondering if it'll be so much better of we got a circle sisig, and bulgogi. It just had too much dough to toppings ratio. Our bartender was great, she gave different recommendations and asked us what kind of beer do we enjoy, I love their blueberry sour (must try!) It was a little loud as it got later in the night but all in all, would still go for the pizza and blueberry sour! read more

This restaurant has a misleading name. "Pizza" Kaju didn't serve pizza until 3 pm. My family and I attempted to stop by here for lunch on a Saturday at 12 pm and were disappointed. The cashier informed us of this, but did give us the option for their brunch menu which included loaded tots and chilaquiles. I would give this place a 1 star for this, but I haven't had food at this particular location. I tried their pizza when they had a food stall in National City and it was tasty then. read more
