Tried TNT Pizza for the first time and went with a grandma slice -- really solid choice. The crust had that perfect crispy-on-the-bottom, soft-in-the-middle texture that makes grandma style so good, and the sauce-to-cheese ratio was spot on. You could tell a lot of care goes into the dough here. I know they're known for their Detroit style too, so I'll definitely be coming back to try that next. There are so many great pizza spots in San Diego and TNT is definitely one of them. I usually hate having to navigate downtown, but without a Padres game happening, we were able to find a spot to jump out and order a few slices. They have full pies or a big selection of slices that they'll warm up for you to order. While I love their regular NY style pizzas, the grandma is such a hit. I didn't realize that grandma style is a thing, but it's the perfect marriage of a NY and Detroit pizza. For me, the Detroit was a little too thick, so I'd stick to the NY and Grandma. The cheese is perfection. You can't go wrong with a plain cheese pizza. If you're feeling more adventurous and wanting something special, I loved the pickle pie with all its dilly flavor. Came during dinner (around 7 pm) and there was a line of about 6 people waiting to order. When I finally got to the front, I was told the tavern style pizzas were out. Fortunately the slice pizza case still had a decent selection left. We got a hot sop, Detroit style pep, spinach and mushroom, sausage pep and jalapeños, and a pep ricotta and pesto. Everything was heated to perfection and it all smelled so good we had to have a bite as soon as we got in the car. Every time I have TNT, I'm shocked at how light and airy the crust is and how nice the chew is. We also got ranch and hot marinara, both of which were super delicious and worth ordering extra if. I first heard of this pizza because of the comic con activation with TMNT (IYKYK). I have tried it and I liked it but I didn't stop by the actual shop until December after the East Village Tree Lighting. My friend recommended it because they make some of the best Detroit style pizzas and San Diego. Let me tell you. They are not wrong. We ordered the Blippe and it was so worth it! Stopped in for a slice and it was super tasty. The crust was crispy and thin. Doesnt have that NY chewiness but still really yummy. The one we chose had salami, dates, ricotta and honey. Great combo. The turnoff was cleanliness. There were several open tables that were really dirty. Not with trash, just sticky or wet. Had to wipe ours down ourselves. The extra charge was totally fine, businesses need to cover costs, but it would've been nice to know there was an upcharge beforehand. * Margherita: Somehow even worse. Again, very soggy crust, super greasy, and overwhelmingly cheesy. It just didn't taste like quality ingredients or well-executed pizza. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the interior is actually a cool spot with a chill vibe. No public restroom, but dogs are allowed, which is a big plus. I searched Reddit for vegan eats near Petco Park and someone recommended stopping by here before the game. I'm so glad I did! They have several vegan pizza options and I was thrilled. I went with the vegan pickle thick crust slice. I'm a sucker for ranch and this thing was covered in it. It was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back and try their house slice. The pepperoncinis looked amazing, and they had some great-looking vegan meat alternatives too. I have no idea where these positive reviews are coming from. I tried 3 different vegan slices and they were all horrendous - too much cheese, too sour, and they tasted like old burnt oil. The marinara sauce was a disgusting dark red color. They use really bad quality ingredients here. My husband ordered one of their specialty pies and he agreed that it's horrible. Also, there are no real utensils or plates, only disposable ones so it was impossible to cut the pizza with the plastic knife. Additionally, their chili oil ran out and they didnt have a replacement. We both said this is one of the worst restaurants we ever ate at! My mind is blown at how bad it is and how they are serving people such awful pizza. read more

Stopped by at 8pm during the week and although they didn't have all their slices available, we were able to get a good assortment. TNT pizza does 4 kinds of crusts (New York, Tavern, Grandma, Detroit) plus vegan options too. I appreciate the variety and customization that you are able to come up with. But for our visit, we focused on whatever was on display for slices. Inside has that old-school pizza shop/arcade vibe (with a Street Fighter machine). I did ask the cashier what each pizza was on display, but he just told me look at the board menu. It wasn't obvious based on some of the pizza toppings which one was which so that wasn't the best experience. In this case I'd rather them have name tags for each slice in the window to make it easier for everyone. The Pickle Pie was a fun flavor and I really loved the grandma-style crust! I had a ton of flavor and was perfectly crispy. The flavors of the pickle pie reminds me of a cheesburger pizza, minus the meat. Really good and tasty! The Green Dream was also a solid slice that comes with spinach, mushroom, ricotta, and garlic. The New York style was also nice and crispy. For the Detroit-styles, I preferred their pepperoni slice. I thought the tomato sauce was exceptional and packed with flavor. The Hot Sop was a unique slice since it comes with sopressata, dates, balsamic reduction, ricotta, and hot honey. I understand what they were going for and I did appreciate the sweetness of the date+balsamic to balance out the other salty flavors, but I felt the slice was a bit dry w/o sauce (but by adding sauce you take away the flavor of the balsamic *shrug). I'd love to come back earlier to get other slices since overall I think TNT serves up good slices that are worth checking out! read more
