The food and the ambiance is one of the best in the country. --==Food==-- Appetizers - We always get the breaded mushrooms and cauliflower. I have tried breaded mushrooms all over the country and Pizza King nails it. The breadi game is excellent, they deep fry them so they're crisp and not soggy and they are well done on the inside. Pair this with nacho cheese and you'll thank me even if your arteries don't. 5 Pizza - We've enjoyed many different pizzas, but my favorite so far is the Greek Cowgirl. My family hails from Italy and the flavors of the Mediterranean are well appreciated. The lamb is well prepared, the spices are overbearing and the traditional combination of pepperoncini, red onion, feta, Roma tomatoes, kalamata olives and Romano cheese is awesome. 5 The staff is well dressed and clean and very polite. They are excellent at their job and again one of the better experiences. Almost comparable to a Fogo De Chao. The restaurant itself appears outdated but it creates a really neat ambiance. This is a place that my wife's family frequents often. My wife spoke very highly of this place. We afe both from Miami, Florida. We ordered pizza and a greek salad. The pizza was fine, however the salad had no lettuce and easily a POUND of feta cheese. It was TOO much. I was only able to eat the cucumbers. read more

I would not recommend Pizza King for any event. We asked management several times for specific prices and never got a clear answer. When I called to clarify a few things the day before our event, the owner verbally assaulted me over the phone and threatened to cancel our event if we didn't purchase the amount of food he demanded. This man yelled at me for several minutes over the phone and hung up on me, leaving me to wonder if he would even let us in the door the next day. I called to speak with another manager, who kindly and professionally assured me our event would go smoothly. The event turned out fine, and the service was stellar. Unfortunately I have been made sick by Pizza King twice...The second time I actually called to speak with the owner, and this was sadly handled unprofessionally and as if the owner did not care. Did I mention that I was taken to the hospital with the worse case of food poisoning I have ever had, the first was MY FIRST time I was made sick because of the food I had eaten at Pizza Kings. At no time did the owner or manager of the establishment say sorry, in fact they both said maybe it was just me? Really?!!! I had nothing to eat both times I got food poisoning from Pizza King. To be clear both times I was made sick by the salad I ate. I know this because this is the only thing I ate and nothing else. It was VERY apparent what it was, and this is very dangerous as there are so many people that die of food poisoning around the country every year by food poisoning. I wish the management and owner would have been just a tiny bit apologetic about this, as the Pizza is some of the best this far west of Chicago. So, let me also tell you that the take out area of Pizza King and a couple of its employees are some of the rudest people I have ever encountered and have no business being in a position that services the public. EVER! I cannot count the many times that I have been treated with such crappy attitudes from these very people, even though I tip 20% of what my pick up order is every time I have gone there for the Pizza. This is pick up, so tipping is NOT necessary at all, however I always have, only because the people doing the grunt work benefits from the tips I leave from what Im told. I cannot in good conscious recommend a place that would get someone sick or that management/owner dont give a crap about their customers that are hospitalized because of their tainted greens. Pizza King is a very nice restaurant people can go to sit down and be waited upon. They have a standard menu consisting of beef, chicken, and pasta items. A standard Bread Basket is given to every table. How many people like their thin crust pizza cut into squares however I am partial to a beefier pizza. They have a take out entrance allowing for quick and easy access for pickups and two party rooms, one of which can be partitioned into two. read more

We had a family birthday dinner last weekend, so I made a joke that we could eat over in CB somewhere then my brother-in-law and I could head south to the local BYOB establishment. Next thing I know it's been decided we're going to Pizza King. I cursed this decision (standard Omaha anti-CB bias), but when we walked in I was pleasantly surprised. Looks like a nice old school steakhouse. After a 30 minute wait (we arrived Saturday night at 7 PM) our party of 7 gets a table. Looking around and listening to the other patrons, there is a large variety of the menu being ordered. Everyone at our table ordered steaks, shrimp, pasta or chicken fried steak. The thing I just couldn't get over was the table of 6 fellas who looked like they just got done working on a basement, or working in a warehouse or something along those lines, and every single one of them ordered a pizza. I thought, if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me, so I ordered up Danny's special. We started with Onion rings, which were good, although I don't know if they were homemade or not. The onions were too soft to have been fresh cut/breaded but they still tasted pretty good. Next on to the salad, where i got the bleu cheese "half and half," or half cream, half crumbles. The lettuce was typical midwest iceberg, but the dressing/crumbles were top notch. Next onto the pizza. Off the top of my head, I can remember that my pie had pepperoni, canadian bacon, onions, mushrooms, sausage and cream cheese. I think it may have had extra mozzerella as well as it was one cheesy pizza. Crispy thin crust and great toppings made this one a winner. I'd definitely get it again, and I didn't even eat half of the small. It was a great deal for approx $10.00. I also tried a little of my wife's steak and shrimp, the steak was a nice sirloin, cooked exactly as she likes, (right between medium rare and medium) and the shrimp were tasty, typical steakhouse fried shrimp. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals, so I'd give the ol' Pizza King 5 stars for very good food, a nice variety and reasonable prices. I plan on going back in the future for sure. I'd never recommend this place to anyone. There's a lady named Kathy who works there, don't know if she's the owner or what, but she is a HUGE bitch. Horrible customer service. Incredibly rude. Doesn't give a damn about you unless you're spending mega bucks. (Either way she's trash talking you after you leave.. Don't trust her phony kindness for a second) She comes in to my job constantly demanding she be treated as royalty while in turn treating my coworkers and I like garbage. She's flat out told a coworker "you, I don't like you" because she wouldn't shop with her around the store the two hours she was there. This women is seriously the nastiest person I have met. The food sucks just as much. Not to mention I've gotten food poisoning twice from this dump. Way over priced for food you could make better in home. Don't waste your time or support her pathetic ego. There's something wholly charming about Pizza King. They haven't changed their decor with the times, or even their menu much, but it's comforting and friendly. The food is always delicious, and the service wonderful. I love that there's a pizza takeout in the back for when you want something quick, and even that they have online ordering now. My husband and I went here on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. We walked in at 6:45, even though the parking lot was full we were told it would be a 10-minute wait and it was. Seating was available in the bar, which was dark and cozy, hostess said full menu was available in the bar, but I wanted to see the rest of the restaurant. Which turned out to be disappointing because it's just basically one big, long room with no partitions or divisions. My husband had steak and shrimp, I had fried shrimp. Our food was good, but the green beans were out of a can and not hot. My husband's steak was overcooked and overseasoned. Waitress never came back to ask how his steak was. Fried shrimp was pretty good, I got five. Salad was pretty basic, ranch dressing was really good. Waitress never asked if we wanted dessert, just assumed we were done and brought the check. Whatever, I was full. Not the best steakhouse I've ever been to, but I would definitely go back and probably try the pizza and not be afraid to spend some cozy time in the lounge with my hubby. read more

Ok, maybe I was expecting more based on the Yelp reviews. And maybe we should have stuck with pizza, as the name implies, but... Everything about this meal was bland. The server was nice, but the service itself was slow considering the amount of people. Cold, sliced bread was served that looked like it had just been taken out of a plastic wrapper. My husband got pasta & vegetables, but asked for red sauce instead of Alfredo (they did but charged an extra $3. for the change). He said his dish was good. I got a gyro, in which EVERYTHING was wrong. The meat was cold, the pita bread greasy, the tzatziki sauce tasted "off", & there were tomatoes on it when I had asked for no tomatoes. I've been here a handful of times, as it is a staple family-run restaurant in Council Bluffs. Since it is close to my home, I drive by and they are constantly busy, the parking lot being full. For the times i've come here, we've always gotten adequate service, good food, and an overall decent experience. We came here for Mother's Day. I knew Mother's Day would be a catastrophe no matter where we went, so i made sure to reserve a table. Making the reservation was weird, as they only took down my name and not the number of people we had in our party. We ended up having 8 people. Food order took almost and hour and half to take. When it came, most of it was wrong and had to be sent back. I don't think they managed this holiday well. They overeat the servers multiple times with large parties. I was getting overwhelmed just watching them struggle to keep up while maneuvering through the chaos of the tables and chairs. read more

If you're looking for an old-school Italian-style steakhouse in Council Bluffs, this is your ONLY spot. The atmosphere is great, but old-school, & the food is pretty good, too. The pizza is always great, as well as the pasta. However, the steak always seems to lack the depth of flavor...at least to me. Maybe that's because they've stuck to their old-school ways of meal prep. It's a definite staple restaurant of Council Bluffs, & with good reason. This place is legit! They make their own dough from scratch daily. Their pizza is very good with a thin cracker type crust. They use innovative toppings such as cream cheese, and broccoli. They have a wide variety of other things in their menu instead of just pizza. We have never had anything bad there and will definitely return. Their prices are a bit high but it is well worth it for quality and not being a chain restaurant. read more

You can always rely on consistent quality and experience at PK. Wait times on the pizza can be pretty long on the weekends but its worth it.

Don't let the name fool you, not just pizza. Although the pizza is awesome, plenty of other options as well. My wife has a gluten allergy and said out of all the gluten free crusts she's had, Pizza King had one of the best.
