    Bertha's Signature House Pizza

Bertha's has a classic dive bar feel from both the outside and inside. In the midwest this also means the staff are quick and super friendly! On top of that, I was really impressed with how good the food was here. There aren't too many local food options in CB, so finding a place that does quality pizza and a good price was very exciting. We came here for Thursday night football, and overall had a great experience. I will remember this place when I want to watch a game in a chill spot or order some local pizza for take out. Definitely recommending to friends and family!

It was just after midnight and i was watching a TV show and they were talking about the best pizza in NYC. That was all it took. I whipped out my phone, opened Yelp and started looking for pizza options near me, open late. A couple places popped up, but I'd been to them before. I wanted something new. Bertha's Bar & Grill? Never been there. Not really a fan of Dive bars. But the Yelp reviews were pretty great. I'm down for that. I used the mapping directions in Yelp and they took me right there. Easy. I walked in. Not really sure what to expect. It's a dive bar, across the street from a strip joint, in CB. But I'm open to culinary adventure. I got the House Special pizza and a Zip Line Copper Alt to enjoy while the pizza cooked. Um, damn delicious beer, on tap. Highly recommended. Timing was perfect. Just as I finished the beer, the pizza came out. I started home with it. It smelled so good, I had to stop for a piece. It's square cut, for easy sharing with friends. Or a quick and easy bite in the car. And so delicious! Great crust! Excellent toppings and plenty of em. No skimping. All in all, probably...no, easily the best late night pizza I've had.

August 14, 2019 Wednesday - 6:30 PM for dinner One Adult Atmosphere - 4 stars Food - 4 star Service - 5 star Background - Looking for pizza, and Yelp helped me out. Atmosphere - Nothing special, just a bar. Just a few tables to sit at, and some space at the bar. Food Drink - Brickway's Coffee Vanilla Stout. Dinner - Pizza as that is what I was craving. They have one size for their pizzas, 14 inches. I selected my standard topping, pepperoni. Party cut was a surprise on this cheesy pizza. Clearly the pizza is popular as a steady flow of people picking up pizzas to go. Service - Simple and effective. I found my beer in the fridge behind the bar, and then she took my dinner order at the table. Future - Sure.

Love Bertha's! Great food and local bar atmosphere. I've been many times. Excellent pork tenderloin sandwich, burgers, pizza and wings. We almost always get the Bertha's Signature House pizza. The Enchilada Supreme pizza is pretty good as well. They also have good wings. I really like the dry rub wings in either Southwest Ranch or Chipotle BBQ and my husband likes the traditional buffalo sauce. The food here is consistently great. It's a favorite local bar and grill we enjoy going to.

I met my friends here for dinner a couple weeks ago and the whole experience was really surprising,…read moretbh, but in a good way. One of my friends has been here with his co-workers a few times but I haven't been here before. (Maybe one time many many years ago that I don't remember....) We walk in on a Monday night and there were a few people there. It's a small place so I'm glad we were able to get a table. When we sat down, the bartender, (waitress as well), came right over and took our drink orders and eventually our food orders. I wanted to try their renowned broasted chicken. (A device essentially uses pressure cooking and light frying to create a thin crispy skin and juicy interior). The chicken was some of the best 'fried' chicken that I've ever had, seriously. Super crispy skin and juice inside. Reminds me a little of Korean fried chicken. The texas toast was yummy, the cole slaw was creamy (if you like creamy slaw), and the crispy tots were crispy delicious. My friend got a broasted chicken sammich and he loved it too. (High praise coming from him.) My friends and I have been wanting to go back and get more broasted chicken since we left. On Fridays, they have a 4 piece special for $13.99 that I'll have to take advantage of soon. All in all, this little bar/restaurant has some amazing food that I just didn't expect after driving and running past it for years. Can't wait to go back.

The woman working behind the bar who helped me was incredibly courteous and friendly, which I really appreciated. While I was waiting, I saw several tenderloin sandwiches being served to dine-in customers, and they looked absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, our food was only average. We ordered the chicken fried chicken and the nachos. The homemade tortilla chips had good flavor, but they were extremely greasy. The biggest disappointment was that part of our takeout order was missing. That's partly on me for not checking before I left, but it was still frustrating. Overall, the combination of the long wait, average food, and incomplete order left us with a disappointing experience. I just didn't get a good feeling from the place, and based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

We were seated right away, and it was a perfect day to sit outside. The hostess let us know they had workers outside, but we were totally okay with the noise, which ended up being very minimal. We didn't order any drinks, but for food, I decided to try the birria grilled cheese, which comes with one side, and I chose fries. Not only did it look so appetizing, but it tasted AMAZING. The bread had some sort of seasoning on it that added so much flavor to the sandwich. The fries were seasoned exceptionally well too. I'll definitely be back sometime soon to try more items. The food today was 10/10, and our waitress was very kind and attentive as well.

I had the Cubano sandwich, which was good overall, especially the smoky meat, but I think the coarse-ground mustard overpowered the flavours a bit and dulled the smokiness a bit. A plain yellow mustard might balance the sandwich better and let the smokiness shine through more. The sweet potato fries, however, were excellent. My wife Laura ordered Emily's Salad, which was pleasant and fresh, though we both thought it could have benefited from a little crunch--maybe some seeds or nuts added in. Our daughter Alex had the birria tacos and carne asada fries. The tacos were tasty, though a little on the small side, but the carne asada fries were fantastic. Umai! (I am a Rengoku fan; if you know, you know.) I highly recommend it. Our other daughter, Sam, ordered the birria grilled cheese and elote fries, and both were really good. Her cherryade was especially refreshing. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, though the dining area and patio felt a bit bare. A few plants outside and inside would really warm the place up and give it more character. The music was pretty good with indie hits in there. I also tried the Old Fashioned. It was definitely strong, which I appreciated, but it felt like it was missing a touch of sweetness or something to round it out. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, and I'd absolutely go back and try more on the menu. Their waitstaff was top-notch and really were on their game. The restaurant has good ingredients and solid ideas--it just feels like a few flavour balances could be dialed in a little more.

I had a free afternoon and for some reason when I check yelp, a couple spots in Council Bluffs, IA show up. I check around and they look fine, elevated bar/comfort food that could be from Anywhere, USA. Pork tenderloin seems to be the move with something fried on the side. LPL's really stuck out for a few reason - massive tenderloin sandwich and a super Midwest feel from the pics. Coming from Omaha, LPL's is about 15 minutes from downtown, but everything is 15-30 minutes it seems no matter where you go so might as well check out a new state. This restaurant is as middle of nowhere in the middle of nowhere as it gets. Nondescript building with just a few windows on the side of what seems like a main road for the area. I'm fairly certain there has not ever been an Asian and/or Hispanic person set foot in here, but hey, I was looking for a hearty and authentic meal and that's what I got. Felt like Joe and Marisa showing up in Alabama. I walked in and could feel the eyes on me immediately and went straight to an open bar stool. The place was pretty packed for a random Monday at 1pm. Everyone seems like regular locals. Server/bartender came up and handed me a menu and I ordered a Yuengling. I already knew what I wanted - pork tenderloin deluxe with some cheese curds. Very reasonable and necessary up charges for both. Now, when people exaggerate and say, "so and so was bigger than my face" I brush it aside, BUT this pork tenderloin was much bigger than my face and is comically large. They actually gave me a to go box to cut some of it up and set aside for maneuverability. I won't say it was seasoned well but the bonus points for size outweighs all. I cut and stacked with mayo and veggies to eat and it was very delicious. Crunchy and juicy with fresh veggies and needed richness from mayo. I was on my 3rd day of curds and ranch, no complaints there other than from my doctor I'm sure. I suppose I can recommend this place... it was just an odd experience of being so out of place for me but the staff was friendly and food was good making this a good place to check out. I would say it's one-of-a-kind spot but I have no idea what the rest of the Midwest is like. It's really in the middle of nowhere and getting an uber back to Omaha took a whopping 17 minutes. I, of course, appreciate anyone that reads my long reviews of random restaurants. I have no idea who is reading this review in NE or IA. $25 for a massive sandwich and 2 beers is the deal if the century. Way off the beaten path but may be worth a visit if you are visiting Omaha and what a different experience.
