Not a lot but not little. It sure was filling. The sandwich had a great flavor and the fruit was fresh. If I am in town I'll stop by and try something else. Probably the best food in council bluffs. The hummus plate is amazing. I was impressed with all the appetizers. The sandwiches look amazing. The wine list is currently growing and is impressive for the area (I'm from Cali and self appointed wine snob ) They have a fabulous patio and half off apps on Mondays. Being wine savvy, I do tend to be a harder critic when it comes to wine bars so let's begin!! We came on a Monday for half price apps and good wine. I'm so happy the apps were half off because if I would have paid full price.... I ordered the shrimp app, my sister ordered the hummus platter, and her friend got the artichoke dip. We actually thought our waitress forgot our order because it took over 30 minutes to get. I ordered cold shrimp for crying out loud!! We finally get our food (on my 2nd glass of wine), and the artichoke dip won hands down!! The shrimp seemed to have been run under warm water for that 30 minutes to "thaw". It was horrid. The hummus plate looked like it came from Wal-mart. The artichoke dip was warm and the bread went well with it. So yay!! One out of three ain't bad. I had 2 glasses of their Malbec which was dry, fruity, and everything you could ask for in a red wine. So that was a plus!! So go for the wine and if you are going to eat, go on 1/2 off Mondays. read more

I happened to stumble on this place while I was reading Yelp reviews so decided to try it out. Cute place. Dimly lit and a cozy atmosphere. There was only a couple of open tables when we arrived. The waitress came over quickly and advised food orders would be 30 minutes or so due to the large party they had. Looked like they had a group of about 12-14. That being said I ordered my drink right away and we placed our order as soon as she came with my drink. I ordered the blood orange Moscow Mule and it was very tasty. I ordered the French dip sandwich and my dining partner ordered the special which was chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes. To my surprise our food was delivered in under 10 minutes. My French dip was tasty! Loved that it was served on baguette that was toasted and had Swiss cheese on it. The roast beef was sliced which I normally don't like but this was sliced thicker and was super tender. The au jus was very good as well. I had the cucumber salad as a side and while it was good it could have used more cucumbers and less red onion. I'd still order again. I'm told the chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes was good but not likely one to be ordered again. Look forward to stopping in again sometime. I had lunch here on a Sunday, we showed up shortly after the place opened. The ambience is nice, with dim lighting, floor to ceiling wine racks, a bar, high tops and regular tables. At the counter, we were told they don't serve appetizers on Sundays, because they close early on Sundays and appetizers are only served after 3pm. So we figured sandwiches would do. I asked about the ingredients in one of their listed daily soups, and was told they didn't know for sure, as it just came in a bag from Boar's Head. When our sandwiches were brought out, the waitress asked if we wanted anything else. I asked for a glass of water, and she told me to go get it myself, over there, it's self-service on the weekends. Then why ask? Overall it kind of felt like the service wasn't the friendliest, just a bit short and serious at every interaction. Which is fine, I was there to eat, not to chat I suppose, but things like this add to one's overall impression of a place. As for the food, I went ahead and ordered the aforementioned soup, and it was perfectly fine as a warm accoutrement to a cold sandwich. My sandwich was the only vegetarian option on the menu as far as I recall. It was listed with sprouts as a topping, but they no longer serve these and I was given the option of replacing the sprouts with lettuce. The sandwich was decent, if a bit heavy on the mustard. The baguette bread it was served on was chewy as baguette tends to be, so eating it was a bit messy as the tough bread would squish the toppings out the other end of the sandwich with every bite. Just a structural issue baguette sandwiches so often suffer. My friend ordered a Moscow mule and I had a glass of white wine. The drinks were both good, and there is the option of ordering certain wines by the glass or bottle. The place got busy quickly after we showed up, it looked like they have a fair amount of regulars. Got to the bar and was met by a very rude lady who instead of greeting us friendly, she says, "What can I help you with?" Well for one, drinks, that's why we came to your bar. Decided to give this place another shot since I heard ownership had changed hands. Overall it was a much better experience. I ordered the pastrami sandwich with pasta salad and a cup of philly cheesesteak soup. The sandwich was delicious. Thick sliced pastrami and a great horseradish sauce. The pasta salad was full of big chunks of cheese which looked great but honestly it had no flavor. The soup was bland also but after some salt and pepper it was very good. Cellar 19 is a pretty good sandwich and wine shop. The staff was really nice and helpful on choosing a sandwich for a first time diner. I had Jay's Gouda and it was good. The ingredients were fresh and very tasty. They also have specials on certain beers and they had bottled of hard ciders when I was there, (cannot, for the life of me, remember the name), for only $2; which is great for a bottled hard cider. So I had a couple and they were great. All in all, the sandwich was good, the drink special was nice, but nothing really WOW'd me. I have always enjoyed Cellar 19, but tonight was the worst service I've ever had any in my life. It took a half an hour to get our order in (which only happened AFTER my friend asked for help), and then another 30 minutes to get our food. We both ordered a small salad and an appetizer and we asked for the salads as starters. Our apps came out first and then we had to ask about the salads...which came out another 10 minutes later and as large salads. Not once did our server ask how we were doing and I did not get a refill on water (which was empty after waiting 30 minutes). Our server was unapologetic and rude the entire time even though we were nothing but nice. I worked as a server and a barista through college, I get we all have bad days...but, damn! It felt like she didn't care at all about anything. And the rest of the staff did nothing, either. I had a wonderful experience at Cellar 19. I went to live music night. The musicians were wonderful. Their wine prices are reasonable for the bottle. They had a moderate size of various wines. I tried their feature sandwich of the day with a cup of French onion soup. The sandwich was a tasty combo of flavors with fresh ingredients. The soup was not very flavorful or hot, however I did like their baguette covered with cheese on top. The owner, Jim, was pleasant. Started with a cheese tray that made a great appetizer. I had the French Dip - it was very good! The bread was perfect. The only thing I would have changed was the soup I also ordered. The chicken and dumping soup was tasty, but I over ordered and could not finish! Service was great, music was not not too loud so we could easily have a conversation. It's a little odd, because it's not really one or the other, but the lunch here was tasty, and I wouldn't mind stopping by in the evening for a glass of wine. We hit up Cellar 19 as we were passing through Iowa/Nebraska, heading home to Colorado. We wanted some better-quality food than McDonald's and the other standard fare you get while on the road. We arrived as soon as they opened and ordered a Cajun roast beef sandwich, a turkey and avocado sandwich and a BLT. The sides looked delightful. We ordered the macaroni and potato salads, respectively. The sandwiches were a far sight better than what I'd get at Mickey D's, but they didn't blow our socks off. They were just OK. The sides were better than the sandwiches. I took note, of course, of the wonderful wine selection. If I lived in the area I'd definitely pop in for happy hour cocktails and some appetizers. Cellar 19 has at least 19 different fresh made sandwiches every day (yea, the name). They have a few soups of the days. Their sides are excellent; a nice variety to choose from. As you can see though from my photos, we got the nachos on this particular night. Amazing cheesy goodness. Tasty salsa and plenty o' fixings. We've had the bruschetta and spinach & artichoke dip before, both of which are good. In addition, the wine bottle prices are stellar! We've crosschecked online and they are literally store prices. On top of that, they don't have any sort of corkage fee or anything. In other words, GREAT DEAL. Definitely one of our favorite "wine bars". read more
