The absolute bar none best pizza in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area! Their entire menu is very good...especially their Prime Rib. Sometimes they run out of the Prime Rib when they make it, but I guess that must be a good thing??? But...you cannot go here and not try the pizza...any flavor...to die for!!!! read more

Don't let the name fool you, not just pizza. Although the pizza is awesome, plenty of other options as well. My wife has a gluten allergy and said out of all the gluten free crusts she's had, Pizza King had one of the best. My husband and I discovered this place a few years ago on a road trip from STL, MO to South Dakota. We liked it so much that we made it a point to stop on our way back as well. Two years later, we still remembered it and planned our leave time from STL so we'd be in Council Bluffs around dinner time. It is still awesome! We decided to head to Pizza King from West Omaha yesterday evening and it was well worth the trip! We were seated immediately, even though the place was packed, as it was Friday night. Starting with the hostess, the friendliness was superb and went out of her way to get us a clean table (as it should be). Our waitress, Heather, was running around making sure drink orders at other tables were taken, at the same time as food items were coming out to her other tables. I was impressed, to say the least of how she was handling all of that. When she brought us our drinks, she took our order and was patient with us asking her questions about the menu. Most of the time, when a waiter/waitress has all of those tables, they feel sort of rushed and look a little impatient. Again, this awesome waitress, on her way to put our order in was checking her tables on the way. It was amazing. I ordered the half chicken and my friend ordered the 2 breast chicken dinner. We received the salads right away, crispy and cold and just as we ordered them. About 10-15 minutes later, our entree's came and were made to perfection. Also, a big thing with me are the restrooms, which were clean and free of clutter. The vanity was free of water and looked as if someone keeps up on maintaining it throughout the evening. We showed up with a party of 14 right after a wedding. We called and reserved our seats quite a few days in advance so they would be ready. Half the party showed up right away (4:30 PM), the other half around thirty minutes later. This time I understand not taking orders. After everyone arrived the waiter got everyone drink orders... and that was it. We asked him a few times if we could order, but he wanted to make sure the whole part was their, which shouldn't have been a factor since it was all different checks. During our waiting time my table of six finished three bread baskets, and watched two different tables get turned over twice before ordering. Around 8PM we finally started ordering. The first mistake was someone at our table ordered blue cheese on their salad. When the Salads came out, he ended up with peaches, with one lettuce leaf under them. This was just the start of the downhill trend. The next mistake was one of our close friends asked if he could get cheese hash browns, he was told this would be no problem at all. When the waiter asked what type of cheese, he replied with cheddar please. The first time the plate came out, there was zero cheese on or in the hash browns, so that got sent back. Once they came back everyone looked in shock when we noticed. The waiter just placed a slice of American cheese on top. Not wanting to send his meal back again and wait any longer, our friend ate around the cheese and lived with it. The next mistake when a steak sandwich ordered medium rare showed up. The person who ordered the steak doesn't mind pink or even bloody meats, but this was to much for him, I'm talking blood all over the plate and almost no char on the steak before cutting in. After getting that sent back, the waiter showed up again and apologized stating he knew it was very rare. At this point the fries with the steak sandwich were so cold they got thrown away. I would also like to add, the bread used for the steak sandwich was the same bread given out for bread baskets. The steak didn't even fit on the two slices. I myself ordered a double crust meat lovers. The only complaint I have was the top crest got burned pretty badly, while the bottom was cooked perfectly. This was solved with me just removing the top layer, but it was still an extra $2.00 for burnt bread I didn't eat. Now remember these where just the complaints and mistakes I heard from the six wedding quests I sat with, I can't speak for the other eight, and I haven't even started on the restaurant layout. As I heard from here and many places, the place was packed, but when I hear packed I think a lot of people, not literally packed. Our table was inches away from three others, and the waiters and staff kept hitting our chairs trying to find a way into the labyrinth of tables in the middle of the room, that was even more closely placed than ours. Because of all this, I doubt we'll ever make a return to Pizza Kings, which is sad because I've always heard good things. The worst part of all, after so many mistakes and mishaps, the tip was forced on us as it was added to the bill before we paid. I understand we had a large party, but after so many mistakes I feel tipping anything or even paying full price was a slap in the face. By the time we finally finished eating (9PM) no one cared enough to fight and we just wanted to get home. Heck, our checks even got screwed up, because half of my order (cheese sticks) got added onto my sisters order. I just paid her after since again, we didn't want to spend anymore time standing around trying to fix their mistakes. read more

This was the first time that anyone in our party of 6 had ever been to Pizza King. It will also be our last. I will start by saying that the food, in general, was pretty good (aside from the lemon cake and strawberry cake-they were terribly dry). However. And a BIG however...the service was absolutely horrendous. We had a younger waiter that I got a bad vibe from as soon as we sat down. We sat at the table for a total of over two hours. Most of that time was waiting. Waiting for our drinks. Waiting for our food. Waiting for ranch (which we never got) Waiting for our check. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. And what was our waiter doing while we were waiting? Standing in the back on his cell phone. Our drinks stayed empty at one point for over half an hour. Towards the end of our waiting err, uhm. meal, I mean, I notice the bus boy staring at something on the booth behind our table. It was a roach. He tells a waiter and the waiter growls at him "Clean it up! Don't make a big deal out of it!" Nice, huh? When we finally get our check its a whopping $171 which is quite a lot of money for such an unpleasant experience. We went to the front to pay the ticket and I see an older woman and I assume she is the owner. I ask her, she tells me that she is. I start expressing my concern about the poor service and the roach. I was very kind and respectful in doing so. She snaps at me that they "don't have roaches here!" Well mam, you obviously do since I saw it with my own two eyes. She immediately started trying to discredit everything I was saying. She tells me the waiter had just lost his uncle and etc etc. Giving me every excuse in the book as to why we got bad service. "Sorry" never once came out of her mouth but she did get very defensive. I kind of half expected that she would make some adjustments to our bill for the issues, but I was wrong. She couldn't have cared less that we left unhappy. I even told her that we will not be coming back. Lastly, we paid the bill using two cards. $50 was to be taken off one card and the remainder from the other. Because we already hadn't been disappointed enough, what does she do? Takes the first card and swipes it for the whole bill amount. She starts panicing and saying things like "Oh no, I made a mistake" and "I;m just not myself lately" and starts yelling for someone to come help her. Honestly, by this time, I was just so fed up with the entire ordeal that I snatched the receipt and my cards from her and left. I was beyond irate at everything and the card issue was just the straw that broke the camels back. Needless to say, we will NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER eat at this establishment again. If I wanted to dine with the roaches, I'd find my next meal in a dumpster. $171 for mediocre food and possibly the worst service I've ever had and then having to deal with a manager that cares NOT about anything her customers have to say. Just had a Birthday Party for my 89 year old Father. The food was great. The service the way it should be, wonderful all the way around. I have read some of the reviews saying it was just for older people but our crowd was 2 years old to 89 and everyone enjoyed the food and the feeling that you were not just a paycheck to them but someone they wanted to truly enjoy yourself and feel wanted. My friend and I went here last night for dinner, and thought the joint was solid. I had the half fried chicken dinner, which came with salad, potato and choice of second side. (Only $13 bucks for all of this) The batter was very good, but the chicken a little on the fatty side. My friend had the hot beef sandwich, and she enjoyed hers quite a bit. The prices here are super reasonable and the service was very good. I plan on returning some point to try their pizza. (Which looked really good) read more

Out of towers directed here by Yelp. Was very full but only waited for 10 mins for a table for 2. Vasili was our waiter. Very busy but fantastic. Spent time and gave great suggestions. Food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. If lives here would definitely be back. Very recommended for quality casual Italian dining. Only bad thing, odd parking lot set up. I'm giving it a three in general but only because I have had good experiences w food and waiters previously. Not tonight, though. I preferenced my steak order with " Well done, Absolutely No Pink" I get it back and it is Medium. I send it back it comes back Medium/Medium Well (if the cut I put in it still looks red/pink it shouldn't been given back). The waiter quickly walks away. I flag her down and she says "What now?!" I say "It is still pink" It is sent back. When it returns I look and granted it is less red more pink through out I say "It is still pink" She says "I bet this happens to you a lot" (Implying I'm picky I assume, but see above I said absolutely no pink) I said "I have sent back steak before, but only one send back and then it is fine". So next time it was finally done, but I was no longer in the mood to eat it. Blaming the customer is 101 BAD customer service. I was not compted or did not have a manager appologize. The waitress sucked up more near tip time, refills etc, but did not appologize. (Food wasn't her fault, attitude was). I am very dissatisfied. read more

Took Mom to Pizza King on a Saturday night and yes it was busy. We got seated in about 10 minutes, But the waitress did not even look our way for about 15 minutes! The Pizza was about one step above a good frozen pizza. My Beef tips were tough as hell and tasted like Horse Meat and my Mom's Tenderloin was an Over breaded grease cake! I won't be going back! The take out area is a fined tuned machine. At prime takeout time they average one pizza a minute. You can watch the line of pizza makers assemble your pizza with hand tossed dough, sausage paste in a gun, slices of cheese, buckets of hamburger and ground ham, slices of Canadian bacon and peperoni. I usually order a Double crust meat lovers pizza pie. As for dining in I give them a 4 star rating. Most of the time it is very good and reasonably priced. read more

I have been going to Pizza King since I was a child...we would pass the time by watching the cooks make pizza behind the glass. We went today to celebrate my daughters 17th birthday. We arrived at 5:25 and had the most wonderful waitress, Ann. Placed our order at 5:30 and waited for our steaks and lasagna. Ann brought our salads and we enjoyed our conversation. 20 minutes later Ann is assuring us that it woun't be long........an hour later we finally got our order. Steaks and lasagna were cold. Ann took them back and was very upset that we were having such a bad experience. I know it wasn't her fault. We took the bill to the cashier/owner and told her of our problem...she then told me that it was the fault of my waitress....WRONG! I told the cashier/owner it was not the waitress but the cooks....she did check to see when our order was placed...5:35. Then the cashier/owner told me she could do nothing about the bill that it was just a busy night. I have NEVER had such bad service by an owner of the restaurant. We will not be going back any time soon. read more
