I've lived in the area all my life. I didn't eat at this particular place until Iwas in my twenties. I thought, "how good could pizza movers be?" It is fantastic at this location only, for the price and what you might expect. Manny and Olga's on fenton is better, but much more expensive and quite a different style of pizza. The best in the area is by far Pete's Pizza in Columbia Heights but I don't live near there anymore and their pizza is WAY more expensive. Today I wanted to treat my staff to lunch... I frequently order pizza from Pizza Movers. I placed the order and sent my son to pick up the order with my bank card. Mr. Jose Vanquez ran my bank card several times and each tome the transaction was declined with that happening my son decided to enter in the pin number to assist with the transaction and again the transaction was declined. My son called me and alerted me to the situation that my card would not process and that he will use his personal bank card to make the purchase. He called me again and said that his card would not process and the person is now asking for his ID to use the cards. My son is an African American black male with dreads. I gave the benefit of a doubt that the establishments bank machine may have been out of order. I met my son at the store and I asked Mr. Vasquez to process my card again to ensure that his machine was working, to my surprise the bank card was approved and no ID was required. Mr. Vanquez continued to defend his actions with stating "your son punched the wrong pin number". I explained to Mr. Vansquez that he is racially profiling my son and I would like a full refund. He said that he could not give me a refund and I had to call the company for the refund. Needless to say I was adamant about my refund and he made several calls to process my refund. I will not patronize this establishment in the future and I will also let all my friends know of my encounter and let them know that this was a racist act. Updating my review from a month ago. I've now bought pizza from Pizza Movers in Takoma Park at least a dozen times now and the pizza is consistantly good (not the greatest but good delivery pizza) and you cannot beat the price. $13 for an extra large with 3 toppings. I always do carry out so I can't say anything about their delivery. I will say I don't understand people's complaints about the staff. I've spoken to at least 3 different employees when I've called and ordered on the phone and each one has been courteous, efficient and spoke english fine. I did not get good service at all, the man had a bad attitude while taking my order, I have been living in this neighborhood all my life and I have never gotten bad service from them. I'm personally pissed my pizza didn't have what I ordered and I lost my appetite. Whatever you do not go to them they are racist and they do not like to serve black people. I know what discrimination is and that man had a bad attitude with me before I even opened up my mouth. Not great but half-decent pizza for a really fair price, particularly if you pick it up. Guy that answers the phone is a grade-A douche and I've had more than one incident with his surliness. One time, I ordered a fairly complicated order. He always wants to just hang up quickly but I asked him if he'd please read my order back to me. He asked me, "Why would I do that?" Jackass, don't ask that question. It's obvious why I'm asking. Then he said, "You tell me, I write it down." I see. It had been almost 3 weeks since I last had a slice and man o man was I ready for something new and spectacular after moving into Takoma, D.C. Pizza Movers, although giving off the vibe that it might be a hole-in-the-wall restaurant is only a block away from my crib, so I made the trek to get me piece of pie, ya dig? Upon stepping in, I was greeted with a "WHO ARE YOU? WHAT DO YOU WANT? HOW CAN I HELP YOU?" I admit I was startled at first but I wasn't going to let an odd opener ruin my chances of attaining pizza. The menu was an old-style letter replacement board that had items that ran into each other making it hard to order, but I was able to make out "meat lovers." A Pizza Movers medium meat lovers pizza somehow came out to $18.00.... After 15 minutes it was ready. I brought it home and dug in, literally...with a wooden spoon, because there was so much damn grease on the thing. All the meat blended in together because it was poor quality. Each topping on the pizza was a piece of crap and the cheese was barely melted. After 40 minutes, I wanted to puke in my socks, because I didn't want to degrade the toilet with such awful garbage. Thieves and crooks. The first time we tried to buy a pizza here, we asked if we could get extra veggies instead of cheese at the same price (we don't do dairy). The guy taking the order said sure and then tried to charge us for extra toppings. When we called him out he just smiled and said 'oh....you caught me'. I decided to give it a try six months later and ordered something without substitutions. When the guy gave me my change I counted it. I told him it was short and he handed me $3. Anyone who says the pizza here probably loves pizza hut, papa johns, and dominos. This is definitely one of the best no frills pizza around and can't be beat for the price. 12 years and counting of fantastic pies. Good crust and fantastic sauce! Keep up the good work! read more

I love this place! Flashbacks to my favorite pizza from the 80s, 90s and even today.

I ordered pizza online from this place and when I picked up the food I let them run my card again thinking that was just normal procedure. Turned out they gave me a different ticket (perhaps thinking my order was phoned in instead). Being in a hurry I just went through the motions. A week later I saw 2 different charges in my bank account. I called the manager and from the get-go the guy was rude and showing no interest in trying to help me. We ended up shouting over each other. In the end, all he had to do was refund the wrong amount over the phone. Instead, I was left disputing the transaction with my bank. Pathetic customer service. And I even liked the pizza. To have lost a customer permanently over this is the height of stupidity. I hope the business shutters its doors soon. read more

I LOVE PIZZA MOVERS! I have never had a bad pizza. If you want "uppity" pizza, go somewhere else. Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Dominos can all be greasy - even the sauce. Pizza Movers uses plain, simple, fresh tomato sauce and real cheese. No frills pizza at an amazing price. I live within walking distance and have never brought home a cold pizza. In fact, the pizza is soooooo hot, I can't hold the bottom! I suggest you give Pizza Movers a try. It's worth it - taste and value, both. read more

Tried to patronize the business while working in the area, walked into a one man show that appeared to be owner with a terrible since of operations. Entered the establishment no greeting or acknowledgement while he continues to prep something behind the counter once he approached the window no hello or how may I help you he grabs his pen and paper and just looks at me as to say what you want! So I proceed to give him my order not being done he quoted me he price for just a sandwich I say I would like to add fries still no pleasantries or anything else from him so I add a then his demeanor bothers me even more so I asked him is there a problem his attitude gets a worse so I canceled my order and gave my business to another small local business who acknowledged me as I walked in and said I'll be right with you. In all if your in this line of work and if you want your business to stand out have a different attitude your profibilty is based on CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE....
