It's ok. Close to the hotel. Food is average. Prices aren't crazy. Garlic rolls are overrated and not worth $16.

Staff is friendly and attentive, ordered the signature dish Pizza Nova, smoked salmon and capers. Very tasty thin crust pizza. Started with white bean ministronie soup which was very flavorful. Comes with a garlic knot. Everything was delicious. Came fast hot and fresh. Recommend. Paid parking lot but they have some free spaces reserved for customers.

March 23, 2026 To Whom It May Concern, Management & Team Pizza Nova - Point Loma San Diego, CA RE: Letter of Appreciation - Ms. Jillian Dear Pizza Nova Management Team, I am writing to express my sincere appreciation and admiration for one of your outstanding team members, Ms. Jillian, at your Pizza Nova - Point Loma location in San Diego, California. It is not every day that a dining experience leaves such a lasting and positive impression, but Ms. Jillian has consistently made that a reality. From the moment I walk through the door, Ms. Jillian is always on the go -- attentive, energetic, and fully present for every guest. She moves with purpose and efficiency that is both impressive and refreshing. No table is overlooked, no request goes unnoticed, and no guest is ever left waiting without her warm acknowledgment. What truly distinguishes Ms. Jillian is her unwavering commitment to following restaurant policies and procedures. She conducts herself with professionalism at every turn, ensuring that quality, safety, and service standards are upheld without exception. It is evident that she takes pride in representing Pizza Nova the right way -- every single shift. Beyond her efficiency, Ms. Jillian is genuinely one of the most helpful and kind-hearted individuals I have encountered in the service industry. She goes above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome, comfortable, and taken care of. Her helpful nature is not performative -- it comes from a place of authentic care for the people she serves. Ms. Jillian is, without question, a tremendous asset to the Pizza Nova team in San Diego. Employees of her caliber are rare -- those who combine reliability, professionalism, warmth, and genuine dedication into every shift they work. She elevates the dining experience and reflects the very best of what hospitality should be. I hope this letter serves as a small token of the immense appreciation she deserves. Please ensure that Ms. Jillian knows how much her hard work, dedication, and wonderful spirit are noticed and valued by the guests she serves. She is a true gem, and Pizza Nova - Point Loma is fortunate to have her on the team. Honestly glad I walked across the street to try this place! Made a reservation to sit outside, wandered over early and got in no problems. Service was fast and kind, my pizza came out so quickly and was hot and fresh and delicious. Not as overpriced as I was thinking it might be and it was a beautiful night to sit on the patio. Would come back here!

My daughter and I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this restaurant. The view was lovely, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. We were there in time for happy hour and enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower starter, apple martinis, and for our dinner we tried two different 10" pizzas. My daughter also tried a mocktail named "ginger Julip". We took half of the pizza back to the hotel so that we could have room for dessert, and it was the "icing on the cake". Their tiramisu rocked our world. please try this really cute and fabulously delicious restaurant when in the area.

I've been to pizza nova many times throughout the years but our most recent experience from this past weekend where we were served by: Kent, was by far my favorite!! What a nice and wholesome waiter . He really made the experience enjoyable. We love to eat out on the patio and look at the harbor. The food is delicious - specifically, the garlic balls and pepperoni white pizza! To die for. Always look forward to coming here when we visit from Las Vegas. Can't wait for the next time!

We chose to dine in at Pizza Nova because of the recommendation we had from our friends, the great location, and the gorgeous marina view. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu includes woodfired Pizza, salads, pasta, sandwiches, specialties, and more. Our host was a very friendly and an energetic young man. He checked on us several times. We received complementary warm buttery garlic knots. They were really delicious. We ordered Calamari. It was crispy and garnished with parmesan cheese. We also got Southwest Corn Chowder. It was creamy and fresh. Then, we ordered three individual pizza. -Mediterranean Vegetarian It had Portobello mushrooms, zucchini, kalamata, caramelized onions, tomato & feta cheese -Pizza Nova The pizza topped with smoked salmon, red onions, capers, and goat cheese. -Portobello, pancetta and truffle oil The pizza toppings were portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, crispy pancetta, topped with parmesan cheese and truffle oil Then we had Tomato basil Angel Hair. It was light, and hot. It was okay. The pizzas were good. The crust was thin, and had doughy texture. The toppings were generous. The service was fast. We had a nice dinner at Pizza Nova.

Randomly came here with family in town visiting and they had this garlic butter bread dish to serve which was so savory. I think I ate about 3 and had to tell myself to stop cause we haven't received the food we ordered. (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) Service was great and the pizza came out faster than I thought considering we came during a lunch rush. The environment is great cause it's right by the marina so after you stuff yourself here go walk it off and enjoy the boats you wish you can afford.

In short: two different visits....great food both times, great service the first time but lackluster the second. My +1 and I found this place during our last visit to Shelter Island about half a year ago. It's easy to find and there's plenty of parking, though the area is busy. We came on an evening and the place was bustling, but the gentleman who served us made sure we were taken care of, getting our drinks and some tasty garlic knots out while we patiently waited for our pizza, a supreme style combo that was delicious. We were eager to revisit the place, and we came back on an early Friday afternoon. The place was still bustling. Our waitress didn't come by for about 10 minutes, brought us water and left us a drink menu, promised to be right back to take our orders and then disappeared for another 15 minutes or so. We finally saw her again, taking orders for another table, and then she finally came back to us. We ordered drinks, garlic knots, and a prosciutto gorgonzola tomato pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza came out first and the garlic knots a few minutes later (both brought out by another server) but they forgot our drinks. Our server eventually came out asking how everything was, and we had to remind her about the drinks. And then we had to ask a couple times for a box. We love the food here, but service seems to be hit or miss. The first visit was a solid 5-star experience which made us eager to come back. The second time, however, was no more than 3-stars because of the lackluster service.

In short: Great food, good service, and a lovely ambiance. Long version: I'm on vacation, and my friend and I really needed lunch. He'd driven by Nova Pizza before and said it looked good, so we decided to give it a try. We sat outside since the weather in California is apparently always perfect. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive. The bread they brought to the table was so delicious -- honestly, I could've just eaten that and been perfectly happy! I ordered the cheese pizza (yes, I eat like a five-year-old -- no regrets), while my friend got the mini pizza. Unsurprisingly, it was just as tasty as the bread. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by -- come hungry and leave happy (and maybe stuffed with bread)!

The funniest part was actually finding the place. We kept looking at the Yelp photos of the exterior, and the logo made us think the restaurant was in a large standalone building. Our Tesla kept navigating us to the same location, but we couldn't find what we expected. On our second pass, FSD actually pulled us right in front of the entrance--even in a red zone for a brief moment--just so we could finally see the Starlite sign. It honestly felt like the car knew we weren't recognizing the place. It was such a funny experience that made FSD seem almost human. Once inside, we were blown away. The interior is absolutely top-notch--stylish, elegant, and full of character. The pistachio dessert and the chocolate mousse were pure heaven, rich, smooth, and beautifully presented. The hidden disco room with the waterfall is simply insane and adds such a unique vibe to the experience. Even the restrooms are thoughtfully designed and incredibly cool. Starlite isn't just a place for dessert--it's an experience from the moment you arrive until you leave. Highly recommended if you're looking for an unforgettable atmosphere paired with amazing desserts.

Made reservations for my birthday. I thoroughly reviewed their website. This age requirement is NOWHERE on their website, so we booked a reservation with Open Table. No problems. When I point out none of this is advertised anywhere, I'm informed it's on Open Table, and that we should've seen it there, and were dismissed. They said they could give us another restaurant recommendation and then proceeded to just dismiss us without even that courtesy. We go back to verify this age limit, and it's there... one TINY line 2 scrolls down on the page, WAY beyond any of the information needed to just book a table, which is the only thing Open Table is used for. Complete waste of time for a poorly advertised bar with zero helpful staff on a dumpy street by the airport.

It's cozy, intimate, and unlike any other place I've been to in San Diego. Reservations are definitely worth making since the space is on the smaller side and fills up quickly. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that, while the experience and ambiance were amazing, the drinks are definitely on the pricier side. I understand you're paying for the craftsmanship and atmosphere, but it's probably not somewhere I'd visit regularly because of that. It's common for tiki bars to be pricey so it was to be expected. Overall, I'm really glad I finally got to experience False Idol.
