We started off with a beet salad, which was surprisingly delicious, combining candied walnuts and sweet orange and green apple slices with salty feta and tangy balsamic over a mountain of mixed greens. We then moved on to paninis, generous portions of meat and toppings on freshly baked, crispy bread. One of us chose more mixed greens tossed with dressing while the other chose crunchy French fries. We also ordered a third panini to go, the Mondo combo. We asked for fries; the kitchen accidentally gave us a salad. The guy has been making pizza since he was 15, there, and their oven is 120 years old. They are meticulous. Every single pie is the same quality. The crust is really unique. If you enjoy thin crust pizza, you have to order it here. Thin, crispy. Their house pie--sausage, mushrooms and peppers--is outstanding. Never overly wet or greasy, slices are uniform. Just made by the best of the best, in the best oven. Prices are remarkably affordable. Despite their reputation they stay the same. Will always feel like a family-run, neighborhood gem.
