Took my grandkids to the Pizza Pie in West Jordan Utah, at 12:30, was told it will be a 25 minute wait, we were fine waiting. The manager was disgusted with us choosing to wait! After ten minutes of waitin, he came back out and told us they were closing at 1:00, no we are short staffed, running low on food, nothin, no other explanation! On the recommendation of a co-worker I went to the Pizza Pie Cafe for lunch. It was described to me as a pizza buffet. This type of restaurant concept seems to be a surprisingly rare thing since moving to the Mountain West area. I grew up and always lived in areas with pizza buffets so I was happy to finally have a chance to go to one without having to go all the way back to Tejas. This a very new restaurant located in the new development near the mall in Pocatello. Its located on the end cap of a strip center across the street from all the big box stores in the development. The restaurant is clean and spacious with lot of booths and tables separated into different rooms. It seemed perfect for all the little devil gremlins that were running around unattended by their mothers... but I expect this much from Utah/Idaho. They advertised a number of available types of pizza on some literature on the tables. At the buffet they had about half of those types available. Of the ones they had available, they were your core pizza types: Pepperoni, Supreme, Hawaiian, Meat Lovers, and some more interesting ones like Buffalo Chicken and Grilled Chicken Ranch. There were some additional ones advertised I would have liked to try but I guess they weren't putting them out. Maybe you could ask for it to be made but I didn't see anywhere telling me I could do so. The pizza was of good quality. Its a semi thick and very dry floury crust. The tomato sauce wasn't the sweet variety, it was pretty normally flavored. There was a decent amount of cheese on each pie I had, and they didn't seem to skimp on the toppings. Like all pizza buffets (I'm a long time expert across multiple brands) you need to seek out the fresh pies. Pizza does not sit well and even under hot lights it quickly gets dry and its not nearly as delightful to eat. I'll admit there were more pizzas that tasted like they had been sitting than there were hot fresh slices. It doesn't help that the crust is such a dry dense type because it just doesn't sit well under the lights. So watch for fresh pies, its worth it. There was also a build your own pasta bar. You picked from 8 or so types of pastas that were al dente and then they would toss it in boiling water for 2 or 3 minutes and then serve it to you. There was a selection of about 6 tomato & cream sauces to choose from to top the pasta with. I had the spinach fettuccine and then topped it with the spicy sausage cream sauce. The sauce was actually pretty good and had noticeable spice to it. If anything the pasta needed to be cooked for probably another 2 or 3 minutes unless you like it firm. Overall its a nice place. Would I make it a regular spot for me if I live in Pokey... maybe. Its family oriented and the younger you are the more you'll probably appreciate it. For 10 bucks with a drink there's a lot of choices and its hard to eat pizza that has sat for 15 minutes and enjoy it at that price. If this were CiCi's 3.99 buffet it would be another story. Just be selective on what you're pulling from the warmers and if you don't see something don't do what I did, ask for them to make it. read more

You know those super cheap cardboard pizzas you get from the freezer at the local grocery store? Yeah... this is worse. Don't let the "all the pizza you can stick in your face" gimmick fool you into thinking that they have great prices. You can get three medium pizzas for $15 somewhere else and feed your family, or spend twice as much feeding your family at this place. It's not good, it's not cheap. We were there Wednesday night 22 Sep, and sat at the only available clean table. The floor was covered in spilled soda and food, a severe slipping hazard. After we were there for about a half hour the mess still hadn't been mopped up and several employees had splashed through the mess ignoring its existence. I informed a supervisor who said he would get right on it but after another half hour with employees continuing to splash through it was still not mopped up. During this entire time people walking by would splash the near by tables and customers and no less than 12 -15 customers slipped but caught themselves on the table to keep from falling. During our stay 3 of the members of our party tried to bring this to the attention of management only to be ignored. We informed them again on the way out and our group socialized outside for another 15 min, only to notice the mess was still being ignored by employees. This place has the worst service!! They always get your order wrong, then act like you are not allowed to complain. Tonight they left off part of my order, when I called, the girl said oh yeah we forgot to give your pasta to the delivery driver. No apology whatsoever. I had to ask for a refund and ask them if I get an apology. She giggled and said oh yeah, we are so sorry. I asked why me or the delivery person was not called and she couldn't answer that. Went for dinner price went up and they no longer send out weekly coupons. Sent out a promotional trivia question for a discount when I answered they sent me an expired coupon that the store would not honor. They said it was c corporate problem. $47 for a family of four makes it the most expensive pizza place in town. Very few people in the restaurant so all the pizza was old and mostly cold. Soda spills on the floor near the restroom that did not get cleaned up the entire time we were there. This had been by sons favorite restaurant. The Pocatello restaurant was a disaster tonight. A supposed manager who had no idea what was going on, a whole bunch of reserved tables with no one sitting at them. They lost my groups' reservation and tried to have us sit at a table they put right in the entry way, blocking anyone from getting out quickly in the event of a fire or other emergency. The teenage "manager" was very rude and unhelpful and never apologized for their mistake. They were taking money from a bunch of people who then had no where to sit because of all the reserved tables. What a mess! We got a refund and went somewhere else. The price to value of food ratio is not that great. This is still a better place than Cici's all you can eat pizza business model from out east. The pasta bar is good, but the same sauces make it boring after a couple visits. This place is not ADA friendly with the Pizza bar being too tall for even a average sized woman. I'm almost 6 feet and have to get on my tippy toes to get a top shelf slice. I feel a rotation on the pasta sauces and a more robust salad bar would make this place worth the money. I came in for dinner 7/16/17 and the food wasn't bad. It was meteoric like always but still filling. The only complaint i had was the kid working the pasta station wasnt very good. He didnt notice us because his back was to us, which is forgiveable but, he dropped the tongs used to scoup past into the cup and used them for the people behind us. This is a great family restaurant! I will be honest and say that pizza is not my favorite, but my husband and kids love it. I go to dive into the pasta bar! (ohhh that spicy sausage is out of this world!!) It's clean, cheerful, and a fun place to go and enjoy time with the family; everyone can find something they really enjoy. My family loves eating here. The Pizza Pie Cafe is my kids' #1 requested restaurant. They love the pizza (especially the dessert pizzas) and I love the salad bar. The salad bar has a great selection of toppings and a nice variety of lettuces to choose from (no iceberg for me--they have spring greens and spinach). The pasta bar has many varieties of pasta and sauces, and I've loved every combination I've tried. The employees and management are so friendly. We stopped in for lunch right around noon. We were greeted by a very friendly employee who asked us if we were interested in joining their rewards club. We weren't too sure since we live two hours away and only come to Pocatello once a month. She said she'd buy our drinks and give us one buffet for free. Sold! The four of us got our meals and drinks and we only paid 21.00 bucks! Once we got settled we headed off for food. The salad bar, while not huge, offered a decent amount of toppings and dressings and it was very clean. At the pasta station I was greeted right away by an employee who gave me my pasta promptly. I opted for the penne pasta with half meat sauce, half Alfredo. Both sauces were flavorful and tasty. I then grabbed some slices of pizza. The pepperoni pizza was packed with pepperoni. The garlic knots were amazing, I kept going back for more. Then there was the dessert pizzas. I saw they had a red velvet one as their pizza of the month, it was o.k. however the Apple pie pizza was delicious, and the pizza that stole the show was the freshly baked Oreo pizza. To.die.for. The customer service here was exceptional, the employees were friendly, helpful, and on top of things. Food was great. We stopped in here with our kids after a function at the college. The staff was super friendly and they were very affordable. The place was packed though so the employees were having a hard time keeping up on cleaning up after all of the customers. But the food was great and the staff was really nice and professional. I've never been a big fan of this place since they switched from "Craigos", but my opinion was validated yesterday on my visit. Granted, I went after the lunch rush, but they appeared to be in no hurry to restock the salad bar or pizza. The pizza I had was old and nasty from sitting under the heat lamps. When I asked about a particular favorite that was completely out, the manager said it was in the oven. I was there for over a half hour and that pizza never got put out while I was there. Convienently enough as I was leaving, I noticed they finally restocked the pizza I really wanted. Bad timing on my part? Maybe, but the lack of apologies, the old, dried out pizza that was out just made my low opinion of this place even worse. read more

Pizza Pie Cafe is one of our favorite family restaurants. We live in Utah and frequent the Orem, Utah one. We decided to try out the Pocatello location on our way to a family vacation. We went out of our way to find it and what a disappointment. I'll start out with the pros since that list is much shorter. Pros: *We ordered our usual, a pesto vegetarian pizza. Young man was happy to help and our customer order was ready quickly and it was delicious. *They honored a Kids Eat Free coupon that was for a different location. Cons: *The restaurant was a mess. The floors were sticky, covered in food and used napkins. *They had fluorescent lights that are sure to give anyone a headache and only highlighted how dirty the floors and tables were. *There were only two tables open when we walked in and both were covered in dirty dishes and old food. I had to find an employee to clean one off so we had somewhere to sit. *A worker would circle our table at least every five minutes pushing a cart full of old dirty plates, old food spilling out, sticky cups, and used silverware. I understand she's helping clean up after people who leave, but at the Orem location not ONCE have I had to look at a nasty bin of old dishes every five minutes. They need a new system. *During the busiest time of night the restaurant had out only 3-4 pizzas. They consistently would run out of cheese and other popular flavors. Lines were long because there was not a good variety to choose from. *Wanting to finish our dinner experience I grabbed two cookie dough pizza slices and brought them back to our table and took a bite of one only to find BACON on the pizza. Being a vegetarian that did not make me happy. How in the world do you accidentally put bacon on your dessert pizza?!!! Overall, not a great experience. I would give this location of Pizza Pie Cafe only 1 star. But, if you are ever in Orem, Utah I would give that location 5 stars. Pocatello needs to get it together. read more

My husband and I enjoy going here to indulge on all the yummy foods, We always look forward to the pizza of the month. Except for today. We stopped in for lunch. We sat by the pasta bar giving us a full view of the prep areas. What we think was either the manager or owner was working in the time frame we were there (1-2 pm) We witnessed her pick up a cheese ball off the ground. Whenever i go into Pizza Pie Cafe I am always happy. They have a fantastic crew who are always willing to help and are always friendly. I love eating off the Salad Bar it is the best in town hands down!! It has everything you could think of to put on your salad, and it is all fresh which fresh cucumbers are amazing!! Overall, I would say that this restaurant is decent. The pizza is ok, the place is clean, and has friendly, helpful staff. However, there are a few downsides. As mentioned earlier, the pizza is ok, but after sitting out on under the buffet light so long, it tends to become crusty and cold, so I would recommend that you get your pizza when it is served freshly. Also, the bathrooms are rather small for the size and popularity of the restaurant, but they are kept clean. read more
