four stars for years of good experiences that offset the barely two-star one I had this visit. the pizza slice de jour, CARNE ASADA, CHEESE, and JALAPENO, was an epic fail. so overcooked and dried out, the toppings had the texture of jerky dust. no bueno. the always consistent side salad, the lunch special's healthy element, turned into a weird revelation and then a wonderful memory of my mother's kitchen. ate with a couple softball friends. Rich confessed mid-lunch, as he slid his across the table to me, had NEVER eaten a salad, not once, in his entire life. strange, right? I remember my very first "real" salad. I was eight-years-old. the only way I'd ever eaten spinach was straight out of a can (generously "seasoned" with Tabasco so it was edible). then one evening, my mom whipped up a spinach salad with bacon, red onion, and hard-boiled eggs. the experience was transcendent. funny how a simple act of eating with friends can generate sweet and loving memories. read more

I didn't realize this location was so close to home, well closer than Carlsbad so I'm excited either way. Obviously pizza post is a staple pizza place for us. We ordered online but my son wanted to order more beer buddies so we called that in and they told us it would be ready about the same time as the other order. Parking was easy, but it was also raining. Once you walk in signs point you in the direction needed. We paid for our order of beer buddies. No problems there at all. Lady was nice. The first part of our order came out first and the buddies about 10 mins later. Which we understood. It was busy so we didn't mind waiting. I like that they will give you the extra sauces without getting annoyed. Sometimes I feel like the cbad employees get annoyed if we ask for more then 2, but we like sauce lol We grabbed our items to go but did notice they have an upstairs. We will explore more next time. How many stars can you really give a pizza place? I went here on a Sunday with a couple friends to celebrate a birthday. We got the San Francisco pizza and tried a bunch of different beers. The service really stood out -- it was honestly above and beyond. I don't remember the name of the girl who took our pizza order, but she was super friendly. And Jessica, the bartender, mentioned her birthday was the next day. When she found out we were celebrating one too, she went in the back and cut us three slices of her own birthday cake to share. I ordered and waited, once my order was up I asked for a box as I thought I had said to go, and the guy just hands the box and walks off. The Cbad village location is a lot more friendly and welcoming than this location. When I got to the car I wanted to try a bite and was majorly disappointed in the fact that it was under cooked! I'm use to them being crunchy on the outside and soft and yummy on the inside. This was just soft and almost soggy like. We have been coming here for many years and I enjoy both the beer and the pizza. This was our first trip without the kids, so we totally over-ordered on the pizza (a med pizza plus an order of "buddies" was just too much food for two of us). We ordered a simple pizza with sausage and mushrooms on half. The mushrooms were large and there were a lot of them. If you don't like large slices of fresh mushrooms, it is probably best to leave them off. I had a nice lager with a low ABV -- the first time I had anything here that was not dark and knock-you-on-your-butt from an alcohol content -- and it hit the spot after a long day of relaxing at the beach. They do a great job with the dark beers, even if they're a lot less popular than the IPAs. I suggest giving them a shot at least once. read more

We've been to multiple pizza port locations and this one is our favorite! The pizza is always delicious, there's enough space inside and outside under the shade tents. We love that we can take our kids here and we don't have to worry about them being too loud, they have video games for the kids to play as well. The young lady with mostly black hair who helped us at the beer counter was very knowledgeable and helpful when deciding on which beverage to order. They deserve negative stars. Our order was missing food, and even after we asked them about it, they never fixed it or brought out the rest. The lettuce from the salad was brown and disgusting. We stood in line to get a beer for about 10 minutes, but the bartender never even looked at the people waiting in line because she was too busy chatting. She didn't even notice that people gave up and left the line. The staff does not care at all. The floor is super dirty, the trash cans are full, and most of the games are broken. We ordered one pizza. It was during a Saturday night and was not busy. We waited for 45 minutes and my wife kindly asked where our order was. The employee told her it would be ready shortly. We waited an extra 20 minutes and noticed people who arrived after us got their food before us. Update #2: the GM contacted me to apologize and gave me a full refund. He said the kitchen managers should update the pick up times online when it is busy like that. I'm adjusting my review to account for all the other times I have been to pizza port and had a better experience but would still avoid ordering online food to go on a weekend when there are lots of teams and kid groups there just because the volume of business they do and the waits are overwhelming. Haven't been here in a a while and I ordered pizza online to take out. I was given a pick up time about 45 minutes later. I came to the restaurant which is overrun with screaming kids (whatever, that's fine), angry parents, food all over the floor and tables. My pizza wasn't ready. So I waited. 50 minutes after the time I was told for pick up and three small pies are ready and sitting there getting cold and congealed. Two of them have not even been made yet. Waste of my time and money. Update: after 15 more minutes one of the employees at least was honest enough to tell me that my last pie was not even close to being made and would take 30-45 minutes MORE. She gave me the card for the GM so I could ask for a refund. I sent him an email and will give a further update if I hear anything. read more

What's up: The gang is going around and visiting the different breweries in the area. First on our list is Pizza Port. Parking: Parking is located all around and it was packed! We circled around a couple times before we found some free spots towards the back. A portion of the parking spots were sectioned off for outdoor dining. Environment: Outdoor dining with plenty of picnic tables set up under gazebos. Head on inside to take a look at the beer and food options. On the right, you'll see the counter to order food, and on the left, line up at the counter and you can order beer and food. The beers were served quickly, but food took a while. They'll call your name on the speaker to let you know that your order is ready. The only issue we had was that when they called our name, they were only ready with our appetizer, not our pizza. And when we went there first time to pick it up, they were confused as to why we were there. We got our pizza the second time they called us. There were tables available inside and outside; we chose to sit outside since it was such a nice day. What was ordered: - Golden Delicious (carbonated apple juice, didn't taste any alcohol, but it was refreshing) - Mac and Cheese Bites (it was ok. I think it was lacking salt since it was a bit bland) - The Roma Pizza (so tasty! This was definitely worth the wait) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The guys enjoyed their beers and we all enjoyed the pizza. We drove down here from Orange County to get some beer for my friend's keg-orator, but there was a bit of a mix up because we came on the wrong weekend. Everything turned out ok in the end, we just decided to stick around for some lunch and then drive back home. My boyfriend and I split one of the special pizzas which was topped with chicken, basil, mushrooms and heart of palm. Service was pretty straight forward and easy. It was a bit noisy with a bunch of kids running around, but nothing too bad. I've never had heart of palm before so I was very curious. I also got some chicken wings as well with the sauce and some ranch on the side. The chicken wings were pretty good and the pizza was very tasty and unique.
