I first came here about 15 years ago, when a friend of mine from Naples (that lived in Rome) took me here for pizza. I had always loved Neapolitan Pizza, and he promised this place would not disappoint. HE WAS RIGHT. Forget most everything on the menu, except the namesake "Pizza Re'". It is absolutely fantastic! Full of flavor, buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and a crust that just balances all of the flavors to perfection. THIS is my favorite pizza in Rome (so far). I feel an overwhelming need to comment about one negative review I read here before I sign this one off. Someone made a comment about the bread being stale without butter, oil, or anything else. If you read that, let me add that if you eat ANYWHERE in Rome that offers soft bread, offers butter and other "bread toppings", you are eating at a place that is unauthentic, and catering STRICTLY to the tourists. Bread in this part of Italy does not have salt, and is a bit hard, so someone might think it stale even though it is baked fresh that day. Italians do not butter their bread, and the only way you get flavored toppings on bread is when you order bruschetta. Bread is served plain, as is. Not at this place, but at ANY place that also caters to locals. That is a fact of authentic Italian food. That review caused me to wonder when they mentioned that the pizza wasn't good, if maybe their idea of a proper pizza is a Dominos Meat Lover's Pizza. This place is fantastic, and I recommend it to anyone in Rome looking for a great Pizza Napoletana! read more

Came here late at night for dinner after long wait at the airport. We ordered 3 pizzas and two salads for five. This was our first official meal in Italy and it was delicious, much tastier than any American pizza I have ever had. It came quickly and the salads were equally satisfying. Rude host at front, would not even seat us after seeing we are English and had our two sons along. Just waived us off. I considered that they may have just been fully booked but there were visible-open tables and when we asked "how long" he just waived us off and said no. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt but, in this case, it was pretty clear and shocking. My wife and I, are are two kids, had just been walking around Rome all day and looked tired and worn out. I think we had that tourist look and smell ;-) and he just didn't want us there. We have been told no other places where they were clearly booked and/or had a very long wait. This was different. read more

A lovely little restaurant with terraces out front. The pizza's were amazing and the salads come in huge bowls and probably provide enough food for 3 to share. The service was good and attentive, staff were friendly. The toilets were also spotless and the whole place decorated in a modern style. Best for lunch while you are sightseeing but I imagine it would be nice in the evening for dinner too. read more

I've been living in, and traveling around, Italy for 3 months. Until now, the best pizza I've had was in Cinque Terre. But Pizza Re in Rome blew my mind! I had the Salsiccia pizza (sausage), and it was beyond delicious! The crust was slightly crispy (which I prefer), and the sausage was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. The sauce, the cheese...I could go on and on. Should I return to Rome, I will surely return to Pizza Re. read more

Pizza Re is an excellent place to relax, drink something cold and enjoy great pizza. After a long day of walking in the crowded streets with the hot sun beating down on us, my fiancé and I discovered Pizza Re. We were immediately greeted by a host who seated us and took a drink order. We ordered a calzone, a pizza with artichoke, olive, ham and mozz and a caprese salad with a gorgeous hunk of fresh buffalo mozzarella and ripe red tomatoes. The dough and sauce and cheese create a perfect foundation for their many pizza offerings. Coming from New Haven, Connecticut, I am more than familiar with amazing pizza (Pepe's, Sally's Apizza and Modern). Pizza Re didn't disappoint. Wood fired instead of coal fired, but excellent crust nonetheless. The sauce is bright and ripe... somewhat tart and the cheese is top quality. Depending on what kind of toppings you get, it is more of a knife and fork pizza as many european pizzas are. We finished our meal with some authentic Tiramisu. A++++ for this pizza! They also offer some delicious apps and salads. Very affordable. Do not mistake Pizza Re for a tourist trap, it is a great place to eat. read more

Great oasis from the crazy! Pizza was terrific. We had three for 2 adults and 3 kids which was plenty. Reasonable and comfortable seating. The pizza was very similar to US pizza and my kids loved it. We had the lasagne pizza sans pasta which was delicious read more

Every time I think of pizza, I think about how much I miss Pizza Re. This pizzeria has some of the best food in all of Italy, if you ask me. I went there when I met some Italian relatives for the first time, so they ordered basically every appetizer on the menu, plus a personal Margherita pizza for me. Not good. We asked for a salad caprese which was advertised with mozzarella di buffala. We had a horrible salad with frozen tomatoes and a chewy mozzarella. The chef insisted that it was mozzarella di buffala whereas it was obviously not. We are sure he served us the bad quality cheese used for the pizzas. Naturally, we did not have to pay for this salad. We then had pizzas which are Really average. read more

The reason I am giving them 3 stars is because I don't think they like tourists much and the service is pretty bad, especially for tourists I guess. The pizza was very good but unfortunately the waitress was extremely rude and then we asked a second person about a doubt we had and he just said to wait. The service was terrible. The young waiter would come outside on the patio, stand at our table, and watch women walking by. He would make a smacking noise with his mouth and watch their asses all the way down the alley way. It was creepy. He spent most of his time looking at the street for what was happening. He dropped utensils and menus. He forgot orders. He ran to clear a table instead of taking our payment because it was close to where a taxi dropped off several women. He didn't even realize that we were missing items such as salad dressing (oil and vinegar) or that the red wine that he served was not touched because it was undrinkable. Red wine should not taste as if it was carbonated. Will not be back or recommend this restaurant. read more

This is a great little place for pizza and/or pasta! You know when the locals and the polizia are getting pizza to go you've picked a good place! I had the mezzaluna (half pizza half calzone) - it was very good. The prices are not bad at all either - not paying the tourist prices. My kids were all very happy as well - perfect for an easygoing dinner. read more

Great pizza!! Took us a while to find a local pizzeria near Hotel Valadier, luckily we stumbled across this gem. The pizza is great nothing compared to the other walk in pizzerias. If your by the piazza de popolo you must try it. read more
