First time for us at a pizza ranch. It is a buffet style but you can place special orders, which is nice. The only problem is it takes a long time to get those and there rest of your group is left waiting. They also serve fried chicken (which was pretty greasy), mashed potatoes, green beans and the like. They have a nice salad bar and also a soft serve ice cream machine. They are a little slow keeping the buffet stocked and don't keep a big variety of pizzas available for you to choose from. The pizza buffet is heavily dependent on the other patrons. If you want a pie, ask for it, they bring a slice, and put the pie on the buffet. Apparently the other patrons were jerks born without taste buds tonight. It was all BBQ chicken, pulled pork, and such. All sweet. There was a BLT pizza with mayonnaise on it. Mayo! The pizza is about the same quality as Totino's frozen pizza. Bland, cardboard with grease dripping from it. Definitely a very midwestern experience, which may explain why it is popular in Rapid City, where they think ketchup is spicy. The pizza is even worse than Cici's and ChuckECheese. The chiken is edible, but they serve INSTANT mashed potatoes and the rest of the veggie options are disgusting. I can't believe ANYONE would give it five stars! It's bad enough that the food is disgusting, but they also have an in-your-face-right-wing-Christians-only atmosphere. This place is definitely what you should expect from a very religious owner: bad food and preachy attitude. I'd rather eat an a Salvation Army soup kitchen. I love the food here but the staff is horrible!!! Everytime we order delivery they get it wrong!!! If we dine-in at the buffet & are asked what kind of pizza we want the employees act like it's such an inconvenience! Don't ask if you don't want to take down the order! I've never been disappointed in the food at a Pizza Ranch but the service here was dismal ; no offer of type of pizza I wanted nor could I find any service person to find out where the salad or dessert bars were. The food was cold and not very good...we came in with 45 minutes left before they closed. They didn't refresh the buffet despite us paying full price. It was not a good experience. My family and I stopped here while returning to Rapid City from Mount Rushmore. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good food. A nice variety for a pizza buffet. Every time I have been there the pizza's are constantly coming out fresh and hot. They also let you choose pizza flavors for the buffet if you don't see something you like. They'll let you have as many slices of the requested pizza that you want, then they put the remainder on the buffet line. Nice idea. read more

Ate here for dinner on the way back from Mount Rushmore on 4th of July. The quality of the food was pretty good for a pizza buffet - variety of food was good (had more than just pizza), food looked appetizing and freshly made. But what really stood out was the service; all of the staff were friendly and one even went as far as printed out a list of places where we could see fireworks that night, whaaaat?! My office and I have ordered from the luna street Pizza Ranch numerous times and only had simple issues, maybe a missing sauce or no plates (when requested) but this time was different, we had a bigger issue. I ordered the 3-piece chicken tenders' dinner and received pieces that were the size of a Mcdonalds Chicken Nugget and all breading and they did not bring the sauce I ordered either, the size alone made the meal not worth the price I paid for them. The last time we ordered one of the tenders was the size of all three the tenders this time put together, so I called to ask them what could be done and was told I could wait for 30 minutes for new tenders and sauce or get a credit. I choose the credit then asked how it would work, I would have a credit attached to my phone number and I would have to remind them that there was credit when I called in my order. The person on the phone was not rude, but they were not nice either. The whole experience was mediocre at best. None of the food we ordered was great, the boneless wings were cold and not sauced very well, the pizza was kinda warm but not hot. I have never had this problem and to be brushed off like it didnt matter, I expected more. read more

My first experience at a Pizza Ranch, and it will most likely be my last. We arrived around 7pm and there was very little food on the buffet. There were 2 slices of pizza, some bread sticks, and a few pieces of fried chicken. We had to ask for lettuce to be brought out to the salad bar and the dessert bar was empty as well. The final straw was that the ice cream machine was even broken! I did speak to the manager, and she said they were still trying to recover from a 3 pm rush(evident by all the dirty tables), and offered us our money back. I went with family the other night for the first time. We didn't eat at this location-their card reader was down from a storm that just went through, so we went to the one across town (off 5th St I think). Didn't find that location here for review. But at THAT location, the staff was friendly and attentive, food was good, grandkids had fun getting as much as they wanted with vanilla soft serve ice cream and dessert pizza at the end. Prices go by kids ages, adults and senior price-but senior is less than $1.00 off. Restaurant temp was comfortable (walking in to the Luna Ave location it was chilly). But I'm sure it will be a place to go again. read more
