Great local place that is always busy. Whether you are ordering and picking up to go or sitting in. You will see friends from the area enjoying time with family or celebrating milestones. We just wanted to run in and grab a slice before running some errands. I loved my chicken, bacon ranch slice. It was so filling, I actually took it home for later! My daughter got a chicken Caesar slice which freaked me out a little because how does the lettuce not get soggy, but it was actually pretty good! Tried Pizza Rustica for the first time last night. Ordered 2 hot subs and had them delivered. I tried the grilled eggplant with mozzarella and arugula, wow it was fabulous. My husband had the prosciutto with roasted peppers and mozzarella. His as great too. Can't wait to try some of the pasta dishes next time. read more

Always searching for new pizzerias, I stopped in for lunch at Pizza Rustica yesterday. This restaurant is located in a strip mall off Main Street in Rockaway. There's plenty of parking in the lot in front. The place is big inside with plenty of seating. The counter is on the right with a few small tables. To the left is a large dining room. I always love when there's plenty of choices of pies for slices, and they had an excellent selection here. I chose a slice of broccoli rabe with sausage. That combo is great and you don't find that on pies too often. Very friendly server behind the counter giving details on other pies. It was a fun stop and I definitely recommend! read more

Great Pizza, Great Place, Great People and the Wings are pretty damn good too!! So far I've tried their Grandma Pizza, Chicken Parmesan Pizza, and their version of Buffalo Wings and found everything to be on point and totally delicious in every way.    At first I thought it'd be alot smaller inside than it is but they have it split into two sections, on the right is the pickup ordering counter with a few small tables and on the left side is a larger dinning room area with the kitchen in back, it's a pretty cool spot for lunch or dinner.     They also do a decent amount of delivery business so keep that in mind if you ever find yourself stuck to the couch or under house arrest for some shenanigans that you did or didn't do. .. Food was really good. Warm and flavorful without being too much. Each ingredient stood out.

Let me preface this by saying we have eaten here many many times and the food is consistently good. That being said the service tonight was awful. It appears that there is no management over the dining room staff. Girl comes to take our drink order first. When she brings the drinks my granddaughter asks her to bring some bread which was received about half an hour later after asking for it a few more times. Also when she brings the drinks we tell her we are ready to order at which point she tells us she is not the waitress and walks away. Seriously? We all looked at each other like what? Finally a waiter comes over and I tell him about the no bread issue, he takes our order and it takes forever to get the salads. He brings the pizza finally for the kids and my husband's dinner. But never brought the soup he has ordered as his appetizer until he was almost done eating. Some of us had to pack up our food to take home because we had little kids to put to bed. Management needs training and so does the dining room staff. Service used to be good. Not sure that's going on there but we won't be back anytime soon to eat there. read more

Ordered to-go which we have done many times. Being particular about meatballs, I thought I'd give a try. They were as expected. Very hard and dry. I don't understand why its so difficult for restaurants to make a moist, tasty meatball! Maybe take a look at improving the recipe. WOULD STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT PLACING SURCHARGES FOR NOTHING! The food there to start off with is tasteless and small portion. They are bunch of Franks Pizza employees starting up another business using the same food, garlic bread, menu as Franks. So if you don't like them, you can go to a Franks Pizza anywhere and get the same type of food. We had ordered the eggplant and received perhaps 4 slices of heavily breaded oiled for their version of eggplant, which we didnt even see nor taste any! The pasta was another joke, the sauce was totally tasteless because the want to be cook fried the sauce, making the whole plate taste like reheated pasta from the pervious night. Stay away from the garlic bread. Its not fresh! It basically old bread that they slice into pieces and throw this watered down garlic sauce onto each slide then they throw it in a box for days between pieces of wax paper. Gee talk about fresh! Not! Got the bill and they slipped sever additional charges. (1) charge for being to place the pasta on a separate. When we questioned them why there was a charge for it, they brought up the separate plate. Asked them was it for additional pasta on the plate - they said no. It wasnt a plate sharing charge. The number of lies coming from them, they said they reason that we were surcharged was BECAUSE WE HAD TO PAY FOR THER COOKS TIME TO PUT THE PASTA ONTO A SEPRATE PLATE AND NO OTHER REASON. Pizza Rustica will but kiss their cusomters because they only care to see how much they can steal from customers. When we nailed this place, her excuse was "we've been here 4 years and no one has complained asbout it." That's your response for ripping off customers, because no one else has caught you ripping them off. Will be reporting this to the Attorney Generals Oiffce! read more

Love the food here the pizza is delicious definitely one of a kind. It's local and the service is nice and helpful. The ambiance has a cozy home type of feel. Definitely one of my go to spots for pizza and a good penne pasta love the sauce. read more

It checks all the essential boxes. It's BYOB,no steps, open till 9PM on New Years Eve, It can accomodate up to 75 people. This is a wonderful Italian restaurant -not just a pizza place. ! Carlos is the owner and he will work with you to set up your group. Suggesting a Prix Fixed menu with everything from antipasto salad/ Choice of one entree,/ bread, zeppolis/ coffee & tea. (They can even offer gluten free pasta) Everyone was more than pleased with items such as shrimp Scampi, veal marsala, Chicken Florentine.Prices are very reasonable and the wait staff is super. My review from 7 years ago was when the pizza spot was under a different owner and name. Pizza Rustica is by far the best pizza in Rockaway. There were several hiccups a year or so ago with our delivery and pickup order constantly being wrong due to a language barrier, but since then no issues at all. I would like to give this place 5 stars because the chicken arugula pizza is phenomenal. I would recommend trying it. The downside is that I have ordered it several times in the past few months and each time the price has gone up. Paying $28.00 for one pizza is hard to justify even if it is delicious. Today, I ordered spaghetti with just a little butter and parmesan cheese - no bread, no salad. After waiting the 15 minutes I was told before walking over (work next door), I sat for another 5 minutes only to be told "oh your order is here - spaghetti and sauce" to which I said spaghetti and a little butter. I opened it up slightly before leaving and I was happy to see no red sauce. Taking it back to work and opening it up, the spaghetti is swimming in butter - what happened to "just a little butter." I need to mention the reason I ordered only basically plain spaghetti is my folks sent me home last night with eggplant parm and I didn't have time in the morning to make the spaghetti and can't eat it by itself. On top of having to call twice because my first call was forgotten about after being put on hold, having a difficult time ordering basically plain spaghetti and waiting for my order that was already done, my order was $17.00 - for what - basically plain spaghetti (no salad, no side bread) and a soda. We have lived in WML for 6 years now and there is no better pizza place than Gencarelli's. The pizza is amazing. The sauce is so wonderful. Even my parents who live in Denville switched. I have never had anything I sisnt like. Meatball parn subs, calzones, stromboli, chicken rolls, gnocchi, penne vodka is the best. Best garlic knots in the area. I have a food allergy (allergic to onions) and noted that in my order placed through Grubhub. All three salads I ordered came with onions. I called and the girl saw my note about the food allergy and apologized profusely saying she didn't know what happened. She said they would send three new salads out, which would have been fine. Then the manager called back and said because I placed the order through Grubhub I would have to deal with them and he did nothing. Pizza is actually quite good, however I am dropping my review to 2 stars due to what I consider deceptive billing. They put a charge on your bill called "Non Cash Adjustment #001". I called them and found it was because I used a credit card. The charge is relatively small but it appears to be increasing. In June it was 3.5% and in July it was 4.0%. I do not recall seeing any signs informing customers that they will be charged extra for using a credit card, and they should be more honest and clear about what it is on your receipt. Call it a credit card surcharge, put a sign near the cash register warning customers about it, or don't do it. -3 stars for sneaky billing. read more

I ordered the Gencarelli's Special pizza. It was flavorful and delicious. They were not stingy with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms or peppers. The medium pie was to die for. I decided to reorder days later a large pie. For some reason the medium was dressed better than the large pie. The delivery was quick. Very deserving of a great tip. And the female who delivered the pie was very friendly. Will order on my treat days. After all got to look after my figure. read more

I just moved to this area about 6 months ago and this is my favorite pizza place by far! I don't know anything about the prior place-Gencarelli's or what they used to be like so my suggestion is please don't go by all the negative reviews because Pizza Rustica is nothing like that. Called today at 3:19 PM for an order consisting of 3 sub sandwiches and two orders of fries. Was told 45 minutes. At 4:24 PM I called to find out where my order was. Of course it was on its way. Two subs were fine the cheesesteak had the wrong cheese, there was only 1 order of fries and the fries with gravy were soggy and swimming in the gravy I had requested on the side. I called and was told that I only orderd one fries and gravy was not requested on the side and if i had orderded american cheese he would have written it down and he didnt so it was mozzerella. DO NOT USE THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I am the customer and apparently they do not care for customers. This was not my first order but it is definitely my last. read more

Worst Italian food ever! I had a bad experience with their dine in service, they literally couldn't figure out how to bill for a pizza with half meatball and half onion. They ended up bringing two pizzas to the table. I took one a paid for it, but left the other. I know anyone can have a bad day, so we ordered delivery. We ordered sauteed broccoli, but they delivered burned broccoli. The chicken in their chicken Caesar was like jerky. Even my dog had a hard time chewing it. My husband & I have been ordering from Gencarellis since we moved here last year. Once they changed their name, idk if they also changed management or their ingredients but the last couples week the pizza isn't the same. The dough isn't cooked enough and it's just a sloppy mess. Worst customer service in town! Called in an order and asked if they could use breaded chicken cutlet instead of grilled on a wrap and put Caesar dressing on it. I ordered the lunch special with a fountain drink for 6.95. I wanted a Sprite. The fountain wasn't working so I was told to take a can from the fridge. They did not have Sprite in a can so I settled for a Pepsi. When I went to pay they charged me for a can of soda instead of a fountain. Why?
