Bruno's Bistro is a family run Italian restaurant hidden off of Rte. 10 in Morris Plains and is a must-go. The staff is lovely, attentive without being overbearing, and helpful with recommendations or things to try. All the food is fantastic but what we got this night was: - Calamari (forgot to take a photo it was so good), which are large rings lightly battered accompanied by a gravy boat size holder of spicy marinara sauce. - Special: Homemade meat lasagna - MASSIVE and covered with lots of meat sauce. Unless you have a bottomless pit of a stomach, you will be taking half of this home. - Special: Chicken pecan - unique and fantastic. Two large pieces of chicken along with mashed potatoes and broccoli. - Chicken parm- the pro tip is to get it with vodka sauce instead of marinara. Trust me. You won't regret it. - Rigatoni Torino- their pink vodka sauce is the place to be so that with the peas and crumbled sausage is *chef's kiss*. As an FYI, they do have a gluten free pasta in case that's needed (it's only in penne form, if you care). Fantastic meal. Cherry on top that it's BYOB, so bring a couple of bottles and some friends, and you'll have a great night. read more

Found this on Yelp searching for Italian food in the area. Bruno's Italian Bistro was a lovely experience! I ordered the chicken rollantini, and it was delicious- it was one of their specials. The ambiance was really nice, and the staff were super friendly. Even though we didn't have reservations, they accommodated us without any issue. It's basically the local Italian restaurant where it feels like everyone knows each other. Plenty of parking available, which is a plus. The only downside was exiting the parking lot onto Route 10 - it's a bit of a dangerous turn. read more

My first thought of Bruno's is the fantastic job they did during Covid preparing takeout meals. We ordered often and the food was always delicious. Last night, we dined at the restaurant for the first time in a couple of years. On a Friday night, there was a good crowd. We started by sharing the rice ball appetizer from the specials menu. There was plenty to share and was a big hit. Our entrees ranged from Lasagna to Chicken Milanese to my Veal Funghi. The veal dish with Gorgonzola cheese was excellent. Service here was very friendly, including the owner stopping by to make sure all was good. It's a BYOB so make a reservation and grab your wine! read more

Disappointing second visit. Service was horrible. Waiter was inattentive and close to ignoring my wife and I. Food was not well prepared as last time. I ordered veal franchaise and was not sure exactly what I got. No egg batter, no lemon??? Marinara sauce had entirely too much red wine in it. Even meatballs were not as tasty. Consistency is an issue. Waited twenty minutes for waiter to ask if we wanted coffee and dessert- we did but just asked for check and left. read more

This place is absolutely incredible. We both got the eggplant Parmesan for our dinner. The eggplant is so thinly sliced and not overly breaded. It's perfect. The star of the show was the sauce which is perfectly blended and complex. We also got the tiramisu which was wonderfully homemade and not overly soggy like sometimes you get. This was one of the worst experiences I ever had at a restaurant. We had ordered a appetizer around 7:30 and we get it pretty fast then we waited until 8:30 then I go up to ask where my food is then the owner come to my table and starts talking horrible to my table and saying this wasn't a McDonald and even yelled at my son the space was so stuck and was so hard to have any leg space. Took a friend there recently and the food is still outstanding. Everything is made fresh to order and it shows. Classic Italian food that is fresh and plentiful. Why would you premake your salads and put them in the refrigerator and chill them So much that they're partially frozen to the point of wilted,wet and soggy! This is salad for christ sake. So of course, the pork chop I was insanely overcooked. This restaurant just can't seem to get it right on many dishes. Don't even bother ordering the shrimp.Unless you wanna eat erasers. My sister-in-law is a regular customer at Brunos and my husband and I had dinner there once before on her recommendation. No one will be returning to Brunos after a poor customer service experience this past Easter Sunday. It was at least an hour after we ordered our entreea before they started to come out of the kitchen, but even then the entrees were brought out 1 or 2 at a time, 5-10 minutes apart. It was about an hour and thirty minutes before my son received his entree. At no time did our waitress check on us while we were waiting. We largely sat there patiently waiting but when I finally inquired about my son's entree, the owner told me to be quiet, they had other customers they were serving. I guess that is true they were serving everyone else in the restaurant but our table. Additionally, the waitress who completely ignored us made a rude comment as well. Realizing that is was Easter Sunday and things happen, there is absolutely no excuse for the unapologetic poor treatment of customers by the owner and waitstaff. And to be honest the food was not worth waiting for...my husband's chicken scarpariello was rubbery......Rosie's in Randolph would have been a better choice. The food here is DELICIOUS! We didn't have a reservation (this place books fast apparently, so make one!) but were kindly seated in between reservations. The bread in the beginning with olive oil was perfect, drinks were delicious and the main event was amazinggggg. Get the chicken parm!! This is the Italian restaurant you go to when you want a filling and flavorful Italian meal. Service was slow. Staff had an "I'd rather be somewhere else" attitude. Food promised was not delivered. We had to remind them what was suppose to be served. The rug was dirty lacking vacuuming before event. Table cloths were dirty and we had to seek out clean ones for replacement. Painters still painting while guests were arriving. Very disrespectful to paying clients. Offered to change us to outside seating while that area hadn't been cleaned and was full of bird droppings. I have been to Bruno's several times. It is a wonderful restaurant with great service and well prepared food. We are spoiled in NJ/Ny with an abundance of Italian restaurants. Hence my 4 stars. Bruno's is very popular and has good food. I wish they had pounded out the veal chop for the parm. I didn't post pic because it looks like a chicken parm. I was happy that they split the Caesar and added the anchovies. But they were not the best anchovies. My pork ossobuco shank was delicious and fell off the bone. I do miss the marrow from a true veal shank. But, I appreciate not serving baby cow. My shank was served with risotto on the side. There were too many peas that took away from the flavor of the risotto as well as the gravy of the shank. We didn't order dessert. I do like a tableside zabglione with berries, but this wasn't a choice. I understand that baking desserts is overwhelming for a restaurant, but I would appreciate ordering from a local baker and giving them credits on the menu. Then, I would have definitely ordered something to support local. But coffee and espresso was very good. I'll be back because their service, food and ambiance is inviting and the owners are engaged with their customers as well as their servers. read more

I think it has been hard on my wife since she has been practicing 'social distancing' with me since then (I'm sure it's to protect me). Where has this place been all my life living here in Parsippany? I used to work about a mile away and never knew about this place. Shame on me! This is the second time I've been to Bruno's, once for a birthday celebration and another for a baptism the food was ok, not the best I've had but not the worst either. They served a 3 course meal; salad, penne vodka, and an entree. The salad was ok, only greens. Maybe throw in some tomatoes since it is an Italian restaurant. The penne vodka was pretty good, portion was on the smaller side. For the entree I had Chicken Parmesan, which was served with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and carrots. Not terrible, the portion was a good size. The service was pretty good too. The staff was friendly and quick to remove any used dishes and utensils. We had a 1 year old and they were friendly with him as well. Ambiance was lacking. It was a 90 degree day and the air conditioner was not working properly, if at all. I bet it was 80 in the back room. Also, there were quite a bit of gnats/fruit flies lingering around my table / plate that may have been from the flowers on the window sills. All correctable issues that may be easily addressed. Altogether, not a bad place to stop but wouldn't be at the top of my list. read more

Let me start by saying we were greeted as soon as we opened the front door. We were immediately seated and our water asked us if we had a bottle of wine to open. We had no clue this place was BYOB. The waiter informed us there was a wine store across the street but we did not want to hop back into car to obtain a bottle. Not sure if I missed a posting but did not view online the restaurant was a BYOB. We ordered lemonade and continued with the evening. For appetizers we ordered clams oreganata and the best Polenta with Beef Ragu! The Polenta was to die for! Hubby had the Shrimp Fra Diavolo. I had a dish from the nights Special Menu- it was a Chicken Rollantine type of dish.. flavor was good but I will try a Parmesan dish next time. Finished the evening with Cappuccino and a Bread pudding desert. I loved the Cappuccino, bread pudding was too sweet for my taste. I must mention a women came over to check on every table. She may be the owner but she was very friendly and wanted to know how the food and service was. Overall the entire staff was very friendly and took good care of us. Not only was the food fantastic but everyone was super accommodating. I came for a baby shower and we sat outside being that we were a big group and people were concerned about COVID. Although it was cold out, there were many heating lamps around us to help keep us warm. Staff was super attentive, and made sure we were happy with our dining experience. We've been here several times in the last two years. At first, food was consistently excellent. However, the last three times it's gotten worse each time. Portions got smaller, service is not great, and prices keep creeping up. I know inflation is bad, so if you're going to raise prices, keep the quality and potion size the same.
