Food reviews are more geographically relevant than most will let on. For example, New Jersey has some of, if not the best pizza in the country. What that means is that a solid choice elsewhere can sit mid to low middle of the pack in NJ. Mondo most definitely represents this relativism. The pizza is solidly meh, the sauce lacks the rich garlic or herb based flavors, the cheese tastes budget and the crust no real flavor to speak of. In many parts of the country this would be more than acceptable but here in Pizza's home state, it feels like a betrayal. To be clear I order and eat at least three different types of pizza before making any review as I feel as though reviewing something as sacred as this requires a deeper look. If you are looking for good pizza I'd skip by Mondo, though in fairness I don't know if the other local pizza places are any better and this might be your best option. Personally, I'd choose another type of food before eating here again. Side note the people seemed nice and I always have a hard time panning a place when the people are nice but my fidelity is to the food not the personalities. read more

Hadn't been there in a few months. Used to be my go-to pizza b/c literally OMW home from work. Stopped in for a sandwich. I ordered: chicken cutlet with fresh mozz, tomato, lettuce, oil and balsamic. Okay, let's start with a quick disclaimer. This is northern NJ, you can literally drop a marker anywhere in the area and find a dozen decent pizza shops within a 10 mile radius. As someone who lived out of state for 9 years, it's one of the great things about food in this state and something we really take for granted here. That being said, Mondo Pizza is our favorite pizza spot in the Randolph area. It's consistently good, they are generous with toppings and the crust can still support the weight. Tasty, chewy crust and great sauce. My husband is gluten intolerant and believes their GF pizza to be the best in the area. Wings are also great, and I've had a really nice salad from there from time to time (but let's be honest, when we order from a pizza shop we are looking for carbs!). Not really sure why some reviewers say it doesn't reheat well, either. We always order 2 pies (regular crust for me and GF for the husband), so there are always abundant leftovers and I always find they turn out great in the oven or toaster oven (if you're microwaving leftover pizza, that's a whole different issue!). We order take out from them at least once a month and are never disappointed. read more

Tonight we decided to give Mondo Pizza a try based on the numerous 5 star reviews. I placed an online pickup order through their "order online" feature on their website for a large pizza and appetizer. The pizza was not made as indicated on the online confirmation. Although they remade it right away, it still took and extra 15+ minutes waiting in person for the pizza to be remade. When we got home, I was hoping at least the food would be good. Nothing was good. The pizza crust had a weird salty/buttered taste and the entire thing just didn't taste right. I'm usually good with 1-2 slices and my husband can easily finish 3-4 slices in a sitting. Neither of us wanted to finish the piece we started with. The appetizer (mozzarella sticks) sat for the duration the pizza was being remade and was cold and rubbery by the time we got home. We've order several types of pies from Mondo's and they have all been consistently delicious. Beyond the food, and this is the reason I felt compelled to post my review, is Mondo's great service. They are a family owned and operated business and are truly customer oriented. They are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Fair to middling pizza and OK in a pinch. However, as another reviewer before me stated, the pizza is not good cold and does NOT reheat well. If you order a pizza from MONDO, make absolutely sure you eat it hot and at the first seating. Otherwise, be prepared for a very mediocre second serving. A new pizzeria named PAISANO's is soon to open in the WEIS Supermarket shopping center and I'm looking forward to it because a) competition is always a good thing and b) that shopping center is a lot easier to get in and out of than the strip mall where MONDO is located. Mondo has had this area to itself since SCALICI's closed prior to the opening of the WEIS Supermarket and I am hoping their pies will be better because it will make my life that much easier. read more

And... the gnocchi bolognese was seriously the best we've ever had!! Each came with a side salad and bread. My wife and I moved to the area last February. We have tried practically every pizza joint in the area, and we have been majorly underwhelmed to the point where we almost gave up on eating pizza in Randolph. On NYE, we decided to try Mondo. I ordered a Sicilian pie, and dang it was good! Crust was awesome, sauce was flavorful, and love the cheese they use. This might be my go to place going forward.
