This is a great place for happy hour! I'm not sure if it starts at 2 or 3, but it ends at 5 Monday through Friday. Large pizzas with one topping are $10. You can do half and half if you'd like. They also have calzones for $8 or so, which I am definitely trying next time. We like it because it is family-friendly, so we can bring our daughter. They have a few old school video games, which keeps her occupied. The pizza is delicious! We have had the same server/bartender the past four times we have been there and she is super sweet, smart, attentive, and on top of things. This last time, we decided to get two pizzas, because we all three wanted different things and wanted to take some home. First pizza, basil, tomato, and ricotta (I had to pay full price for this one). Second pizza, half cheese, half pepperoni. I got a blood orange cider and my daughter got a delicious tap Root Beer. We tried Half Pint for the first time last weekend. We had spent all day in the yard. We were a little grimy, very sore, and starving. Seemed like we fit right in. The pizza was some of the best I've had in the PNW. This part of the country is seriously lacking in a pizza culture, but this place does a decent job. It starts with the crust and HP gets it right. I also ordered a steak sandwich- so huge! I thought they made a mistake and brought me two sandwiches, but they insisted it was only one sandwich cut in half. The best part about Half-Pint is that it's family/kid friendly. Yes, there's a full bar. Yes, kiddos are welcome. No they don't care if the little ragamuffins climb all over the place and mash buttons on the pinball or Pac-Man game. Yes, I buried the lead there. They have a vintage Pac Man arcade game. I'm holding onto the 5th star for service. We had to flag down the waitress/bartender for refills and they were pretty slow bringing the check/bringing back my credit card. I'm a huge pinball fan so a bar with pinball and pizza is right up my alley. Due to the pandemic, we can't go there and I long for the days of taking my kids to play pinball and have a slice. What a great little spot for pizza. Restaurant is not huge, so i was surprised to see 20 beers on tap...plus one root beer. I had a three topping large pizza for $15. The inhouse made crust was deliciuos. Thin, but not cracker crispy. Soft, but sturdy enough to hold the three toppings. Plus, the crust wasn't burnt, which is how it normally comes at the more expensive, fancy pizza chains. The big bonus is that the pizza is not greasy, this makes for great reheated pizza the next day. The staff is fast and friendly. The location is in the busy part of Tacoma's 6th Ave, so a short walk is expected. I will definately be returning to this spot. read more

This is a difficult review because we, my whole office, frequently ordered lunch to go and for several years I ordered for the office once a week. We were on first name basis with Josh, Hannah, and others that worked there. That all changed recently. My son and I were at an art opening in Tacoma and decided we would grab a pizza on the way home. When we got there it was fairly busy and just a typical night. I wouldn't have even walked in except I needed to use the restroom. When I entered the bathroom there was a person lying on the floor who appeared to need assistance. I asked him if he needed any help and he couldn't respond so I walked closer and reached down to help him up him off the floor. All of a sudden this large black man advanced at me from behind the door accusing me of trying to sexually assault him, bare in mind I am 53 years old and disabled, so I was startled and scared I was going to be harmed. I told the man I thought the person needed help. The man began yelling at me and pushed me against the wall outside the bathroom, My son saw this and came to my assistance . I told him it was alright. That is when Dickey, a person working in the kitchen, came out and told my son and I we were being kicked out for being intoxicated and fighting. I tried to explain to Dickey that I had been assaulted and the man had grabbed and shoved me into the wall. He would listen. I asked him to call the police, but he wouldn't. Then he realized i was only there to pick up food and had not been in the bar drinking at all. Instead of being professional and courteous about the situation he told me to get my pizza and get out. I was afraid to leave because I didn't want to get hurt by the other people Dickey had kicked out. For 3 weeks I called, sent FB messages, and even wrote a letter to Josh, the owner of Half Pint Pizza. He never returned my call, never responded to my FB messages, and did not respond to my letter. I finally gave up. It's really sad Josh that you didn't have time for a customer who has been a frequent patron since the place was called Medi's and you, Josh, worked in the kitchen. In case you don't know who this is, it's Big Jim and you'd remember me as soon as you saw me. We have talked many many times over the years. I no longer feel safe coming in Half Pint Pizza because I can not defend myself any longer due to my health and if you need assistance you cannot depend on the staff to help or call police. Make sure if you go there you have your cell phone. I have reached out to Half Pint Pizza and Josh for approximately 3 weeks with no response. It's just not the same fun, safe, happy place I use too go to for lunch frequently and also stopped in once in a while to play trivia or check out open mike night. Now, it's just become one of those thug type dive bars on 6th ave. It's a completely different place than when people like Hannah worked there. She would have called the police, helped me, and done the right thing. To bad Half Pint Pizza isn't the place it use to be....It's sad. I went to this pub with my girlfriend on a whim and discovered a "gold mine." When we first walked in there weren't a lot of available seats so we sat at a small square table by the bar. Customer service is imperative to me when I eat out, and I really didn't know what to expect after we committed to staying that night. A waiter walked up to us and was extremely friendly, polite, helpful. That alone had me thinking I'll be back. A booth opened up by the entrance along the wall so we moved to escape the foot traffic around us. I think we had the best seat in the house. We could see the game on the TV, as well as the entire restaurant without concern over being bumped or in the way. The pizza arrived and it was much more substantial than I anticipated. But when I tasted it, it reminded me of the homemade pizzas my mom used to make (I mean from scratch -- including the dough!). I ate the whole dang pizza and my girlfriend almost ate all of hers. We agreed that night that this place would remain on our radar. I hope they stay in business under the same ownership for a long time -- they made a lifetime customer. read more

I've been going to this place for almost 7 years. The pizza and the calzones and the tap list are pretty good. I'm giving two stars because the service is atrocious. I went in sat down at a booth for 25 minutes and no one approached me. Another time my wife and I went in and there was only one person working the bar and the entire eating area. We got one chance to order our drinks and our food after waiting for 20 minutes and no check-in's. I don't really blame the waiters or waitresses because they're working the bar and the entire restaurant usually with only a single person. Whoever owns this joint, you had better step it up and hire some more people and spend some of your money to improve the service. If you don't I'm never coming back. read more

Half Pint gets 5 stars for these reasons.. You can often find the owner Josh in the kitchen making the pizzas himself. On top of that he's always been down to chat about different pizzas of the world and new ideas for kitchen creations. The bar staff. Joe and Hannah are extremely knowledgable of their tap list and make fantastic, yet real bang-for-the-buck cocktails and shots. The trivia night on Wednesdays is hands down the most entertaining and fun in town. If you love live music you can often catch intimate shows that often feature many amazing up and coming local artists as well as touring bands. Here's the bottom line.. This place is one of, if not the best places to have fun on 6th ave and surrounding area. If some of the other reviews are leaving you skeptical it would be fair to assume that they aren't the people you'd like to share a bar with anyways. read more

The crowd here was definitely a mix, there were people dressed in business wear, and there was a lady chilling out in zebra pj's with a massive fake and bake tan, who liked to whistle along with every song that was playing. The staff was great, very attentive, and absolutely fantastic with the kids. I liked their meat pizza's, but the pizza with pineapple should have been drained a little or something, because the Canadian bacon and pineapple side was a bit soft, and by the time we warmed leftovers up it was soggy, the meat half of the pizza held up much better, so eat what you can while you're there, the leftovers didn't seem to hold up too well. It's small, and has an odd layout, but it has a old diner feel to it. I'll go back, just not on the top of my favorites list, but it was good. Medi Pizza & Pasta definitely fills a niche on 6th Ave. which is a pizza by the slice joint that also serves full pies, other italian dishes and has a full bar. For so long we have needed a place that's open til 2 am for slices of heavenly pizza to drown your drunken sorrows. This placed moved into the old Sluggo Music spot on 6th ave. We tried it for the first time last night and were impressed. We had the pineapple and Canadian bacon, a 16" pie for $10! Awesome! The pizza was great and the quality was good. The crust, which was thin, was crunchy while being a little chewy at the same time, my favorite texture. The sauce was slightly sweet and with just the right amount of cheese. The toppings were generous and everything had a well balanced flavor. They also had some great beers on tap, I had the Ninkasi IPA, can't go wrong there. The service was really good as well, very attentive and prompt while serving a good sized crowd. All in all I was really impressed for just opening the other day. They are still working out a few kinks but I definitely felt like they had their crap together and have no doubt things will get even better. A very long wait for a Tuesday at 7pm, the server did apologize that a few takeout orders were placed at the same time, Understandable. But when our 2 side salads never made it out by the time the pizza came he ran to the kitchen and came back saying they were sitting out...not sure to take that as made awhile ago and sitting out...that's my best guess because it the greens were warm. They also forgot to put in our order of breadsticks, so they discounted our order $1.20 smh. Came a while back when it was still medi's. Apparently they have gone through a name change? Our visit: We expected a cheap salad as advertised in the TNT. it wasn't cheap and wasn't worth it. We each got a pint of beer. They were $6.00 each!!!! We each ordered calzones. It took FOREVER to get them. They were ok. Service sucked all night. The server (super tatooed) was busy fraternizing with the "regulars" She definetly couldn't make our meal cook faster but she could have checked on us at least once or twice. Two years ago the pizza and service were great. Just returned last week and it was terrible. Wait staff in short shorts with bums visible, chips were so salty no one could eat them. The music was loud pseudo rap/punk. The pizza had chewy dough and no flavor. Big disappointment to find this place has gone so far downhill. Medi pizza is super cheap and they have fresh vegetable toppings. These are the pros. The pizza crust was definitely frozen at one point, and tastes like something I could buy at Winco. If they started making their crust in shop, or even got a different supplier, they could be on their way to something great. Another con, Medi doesn't have any original pizza combinations, it's just choose your own two toppings, and they have one combo pizza. They're pretty new right now, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and maybe come back for a slice (it is only $2). I have now been there three times. Being one who sits back and observes the whole picture, I do see improvements each time I have been there. Today, there was a father with his little boy, eating pizza, drinking soda, totally enjoying themselves. The staff treated them with respect. A single lady, and small group, and several sitting at the bar. I noticed the staff making the rounds at each table. Yes, the menu is small, but I would rather them have it small, but do it right. Keeps the costs done. There is a full bar. They do have a wine list, will save comments until later...will start tasting their wines on my next visit. The pizza I ordered was excellent..small, pepperoni and fresh basil. The crust was good, not soggy in the middle. The right amount of indgredents and cheese. The side salad I ordered was very fresh, not from a bag. I do enjoy this restaurant. Love the prices. Would recommend Medi's to all my friends. Enjoy!!!! read more

Half Pint is the epitome of why I wish Yelp would let us rate aspects of an establishment separately. I would give atmosphere, food, drink, over all experience wildly varying scores. With that said: Food was solid. The toppings on the pizza was delicious. 5 stars. The pizza crust itself was lackluster and disappointing at 3 stars. **BEER SNOB ALERT** Beer selection while wide, was a little disappointing. Do you really need to have Coors Light on tap next to 19 craft beers? Most of the beers were just average offerings. With a little research done by the bar manager, they could offer some great stuff on tap (see Parkway Tavern for example)--not just macro-craft shit like redhook and fullsail. The atmosphere is-like others have noted-loud. The live music is really hit or miss. We heard 5 "acts" on Thursday night. We started with a nice folk trio, next up was a horrible slam poetry free styler, then a girl with an out of tune ukelele, followed by a homeless guy strumming one chord on a guitar for a couple songs. Lastly there was a decent classic rock acoustic cover band who were pretty good. The ukelele player and the slam poetry wannabe were pretty fucking terrible, let's be honest. Even the bartender was laughing. The two bands seemed too well polished to be an open mic night, but maybe that's what this was? Hard to enjoy yourself over the loud noise to begin with, as well as the questionable "talent." FINAL THOUGHT: skip the crowd and noise and come here for lunch. Went here for lunch with my friend. I had been here once before. This is kind of a hole in the wall place. It benefits from the other places nearby not serving lunch. We were the only ones there on a Friday at noon. This was a little surprising once we got our food. It was great! My cheesesteak sandwich was everything I would want. I probably would have been happy with the bread alone, it was that perfectly toasted. I know that sounds lame, but if the bread's not right, the whole sandwich isn't right. Accompanied by a Caesar salad that hit the mark with two kinds of Parmesan and crispy croutons, I couldn't have done much better. My friend had a pizza (I forget the name) with white sauce, chicken, sundried tomatoes, and pesto. The crust was a nice balance between crisp and chewy. I wished I were taking home her leftovers myself! Tip: Spend the extra $2 for the house salad. Considering that we were the only ones there, it's not surprising that the service was attentive. My only real quibble was the choice of music on the sound system. My friend liked it, though. You should go here, and not just to encourage them to stay in business. We were in the neighborhood and were needing dinner. First off, points for pinball and that 1980s bar/pizza feel!! Love that. Bar, music, food, video games...these are a few of my favorite things. I had a calzone...mushroom, cheese and pepperoni....soo soo good. Totally can tell it's homemade. It states in the menu it takes 20 minutes! Gf had a house salad [she was bummed it indicated pepperchinis and there weren't any]. She then had a slice of Hawaiian pizza. She liked the pizza but kept eating bites of my calzone. Great place to take the family and keep meal costs down. A large combo pizza is only $15 and to add a nice sized side salad it is only $2. The combo pizza was very good with a nice wood fired crust. We also ordered a Sicilian pizza that comes out rectangular on a sheet pan which I believe was baked....not wood fired. Had I known that I would have passed on ordering it. It was still a bit undercooked, but had good flavor. The only other issue was the temp of the pizzas upon coming out....they were more lukewarm than hot. Not a deal breaker, so we will stop in again and give it another go. Service was great and friendly. I am sure as time goes on Medi's will fine tune and improve on the little things. My husband, mother-in-law, and I walked into this restaurant the other day. We checked it up on yelp and after 29 reviews it had 4 stars. So I was curious on how the pizza would taste. We ordered the chicken pizza and two side salads. For some reason, the salads took as long as the pizza did. The salads came out and not even 3 minutes later, the pizza shows up. So timing wasn't on their side this time. As for the pizza, good crust, fresh cheese, and wasn't all that greasy. My complaints were the chicken and the random raw tomato on top. You figure the tomatoes would be cooked with the pizza instead of being put on at the last minute. The chicken was right out of a can. Not impressed. They actually seasoned it, so it had flavor. My husband and I have contemplated going in to Medi's a couple times, but something about the space kept putting us off. Walking by, patrons appear uncomfortable in the overly bright lighting. Last Saturday, we decided to put on our big kid pants and just try it. Pro: It's CHEAP. We split a small pizza, with 2 side salads, and 4 canned beers for $30 with an 18% tip. Con: Everything tastes cheap. Families on the go can feed more people, with a higher quality of food, for less at COSTCO. Pro: The beer selection is varied. Craft lovers can find at least 1 decent beer on tap. Or, opt for a $2 can on special. Con: Is it a late night bar? A family style casual restaurant? A college cafeteria? It's not a place I want to hang out because I can't relax there. They were playing an awful movie instead of sports or music. A Security guard was lumbering around and I had to wonder why they feel a need for a bouncer at "family" restaurant?! A group of guys who appeared to be in charge hung out at the bar the entire time to flirt with the waitresses (also read "distract" the waitresses). I felt like we were intruding on their good time and I couldn't wait to get out. Medi's pizza is pretty decent, the sauce is delicious and their specials are usually tastey! Their happy hour is nothing to write home about as their hours are limited, you would expect a small place like this to compete with the rest of the Ave by doing all day HH on Sun/Mon alas they do not. Also, pretty kid friendly, but no children's drink other than nasty bar orange juice (gagarama)!! They do pick up where they lack with cheap kids eats. They win me over with their excellent beer selection and FINALLY offering growlers- hallelujah Medi's! The several times I've been I have been really unimpressed with the service. The inexperienced server/bartender was obviously stressed and needed help...she, in fact, failed to take or place our order when the cook from the back came out and took another tables order prior to ours. All that being said I really like Medi's and I hope they make it, they just need management to clean up a few of the loose ends. read more
