I was excited for another chance for great pizza in Tacoma, but alas, I came to understand why a friend's sister had dubbed this "Medi-ocre." The menu was very small, which is fine if you do all the items listed very well, but I was less than impressed with my pizza. Crust was not great, and just in general...nothing to write home about. Service was a bit irritating. Our server was friendly enough, I suppose, but the speaker was aimed right at our table, and the music was super loud. And this was not post-dinner time bar crowd- there were still families with kids sitting near us. When I asked the waitress if they could turn it down, she gave me a "why on earth would anyone want to do that? You must me older than you look..." sort of face. And then never bothered to turn it down, though she said she would. Once again, girls' night out gossip hour was stifled by an atmosphere non-conducive to comfortable conversation. Gah! I would give them more of a 3.5 but I really like there mac and cheese so I'll round up. Unfortunately the last two times I wasn't able to get it. One time they ran out and another time I came in too early. My husband and I both think there pizza is ok. My husband really likes their calzones. Along with there mac and cheese I really like their caesar salad. The service here is pretty friendly we usually get our stuff to go but they still offer us water. We usually take our stuff to go because the place can be a little loud for me. I wouldn't say it's excessively loud but I'm a little sensitive to noise. Also I do think the orders take a little long. I've been going here since they opened and have always been satisfied with the pizza that we paid for. The pizzas here are good and the atmosphere is urban and cozy. It's a great place to take groups of people that don't want to spend a fortune on a simple pizza and salad. It's a shame that this place doesn't have more room to expand. I also wish that they had kept the arcade machines that they don't seem to have anymore. One thing that I will say is that they will get you on the drinks. $4 for a glass of root beer on tap is a little high. Not obscene, but I'm sure it helps support their business model. read more

I have been going to this place forever, however I just had a horrible experience after leaving my passport. Apparently a family dining at the establishment the next day found my passport, and also incidentally found a weed pipe. I personally do not smoke, however it is possible that someone in my group of 6 people did leave a pipe. I apologized and explained that it may have been someone else's, but that I wasn't sure. His response was to ask me repeatedly to "take a break" from coming back, and to explain how messed up it was that a kid found the pipe. He also maintained that I should have somehow known that someone in the group had a pipe and left the pipe. I completely agree that it is messed up a kid found a pipe, however I strongly recommend that they clean their booths at night before having kids come into the bar. I was humiliated and shamed over something I had nothing to do with and had no control over. I will be taking more than a break from this establishment. *update. The woman who actually found the passport contacted me, and there were no kids in the bar at the time the passport and pipe were found. So not only did they shame me over something I had nothing to do with, they lied during the process. read more

This place is great. Little hole in the wall that serves up absolutely delicious pizza. Lots of beers on tap and root beer on tap. Couple of retro booths, some tables, a few arcade games like cruisin USA, lots of cool signage and a great 6th ave location. The pizza crust is deceiving it doesnt look nearly as good as it tastes. I believe they make it in house as well. Great prices and great ranch dressing. Ive had a lot of crappy pizza in the south sound area and this is one of the best. I want to shout out to half pint pizza for being the most excellent hosts for my daughter's 5th birthday party. We were advised on the best time to have the partya and our table was set up when we got there. It's not a large space but it worked out great. The service was on point and the pizza was delicious, we scarfed down the taco pizza. The grown ups drank beer, the kids drank delicious tap root beer. Anyone giving this place a bad review after one stop during their soft opening should reconsider. The menu is brief, the plates paper, and the staff green, but it's brand freaking new! And it's good. Damn good. Not mind blowing (like I've heard Marrow across the street is) but it is solid and cheap. A 16" pizza is $10 and the beer selection is great. The sorriest excuse for a margarita pizza I have ever had in my life. Dry and burnt. I went to complain and the manager was a total d*ck about it. He said the ingredients are clearly listed and I ordered it so I had to pay for it. He kept trying to justify it so I said ok I will pay for it but he just kept talking. I said I would pay for it so asked him to please go away. He wouldn't shut up about how people come in everyday and never complain. Except for me apparently. A couple weekends ago I went in to grab a couple slices of pizza late night and encountered someone that continually harassed a friend of mine. He kept coming up behind her and whispering her name in her ear and interrupting our conversation. We told him several times that he made us uncomfortable and to leave us alone and he continued. We then brought up the problem to TWO separate male employees who brushed it off. After bringing it up for the third time to the bartender on shift he apologized and said the person was a regular, shrugged it off, and continued to serve him. After the me too movement and much harassment that women deal with on a daily basis I've decided this place isn't worth my time or money and neither should you. So we walked into Medi's and though kind of cute looking from the outside, we found the inside feeling unfinished (picture blank walls in the dining area and beer distributor swag on the bar wall), generic, and somehow already divey but not in a good way. The menus were presented on a wrinkled greasy single sheet of paper and didn't have much to offer other than a basic slice/pizza menu, and Italian staples like lasagna and meatball subs. Ordering drinks from our (pleasant, but clueless) waitress, she looked confused when I asked her what kind of vodka they served, and when my husband inquired about the taps she just said "uh, I don't know". My vodka-rocks with a twist came with a squeeze of lime instead, but on the upside was dirt cheap. Later, after our friend joined us and asked her what kind of IPA they had she came up with "Indian?"...and he chuckled and just said "I'll just have whatever" which seemed to work better. After slices were ordered it was at least 10 minutes before they came out, and I have to say they were small, flavorless, and reheated to within an inch of their lives. The pizza felt like a cross between a frozen Safeway pizza and something you might get at a mall food court. I had high hopes for a basic but good pizza place on 6th Ave, but unfortunately think this is going to be geared more to college kids on a budget or 6th Avers on the way home from a late night bender. read more

I've been to Medi's three times now and feel very confident they deserve every one of these five stars. The place is small, cozy and friendly. Kids are welcome and service is prompt and helpful. Great addition to 6th Avenue's ever-growing collection of fun new places. The menu is simple, but well thought out and appropriate for the size of the place. Pizza, pasta, salad and sammiches. Really, what else do you need? (Oh, they do have great drinks too, if that's your thing!) I'm not sure what other reviewers had when they ordered pizza but ours has been completely perfect every time! The sauce has that "homemade" type tang that makes you feel like some serious time and effort went into making it, (we've only tried the red sauce and pesto - they also have a "spicy" option and a white sauce that I am curious about!) and the crust is exactly the way I like it; freshly made, hand-tossed, thin, chewy and crispy but not over-baked. My teens are super-picky pizza snobs (OK, this is my doing!) and they totally LOVED the pizza here. We live 45 minutes away and could hit up a lot of other pizza places when we venture into Tacoma, but this is where we'll be heading from now on. Pasta is served steaming hot with just the right amount of sauce. Bread sticks are hot, toasty, freshly made and yummy'; salads are basic and simple, but nice and crisp. No funny-tasting bagged mixes here! I think that's what impresses me the most. Every single thing tastes like it was JUST freshly made, JUST as I ordered it, JUST for me. And the best part (for me, the Mom stuck paying for it) the prices are SUPER reasonable! OK, if I were to have a complaint, it's that the toilet seats are freezing! But since the restroom was so clean that I didn't panic when I accidentally dropped my cell phone, I'm willing to forgive freezing toilet seats (and seriously? What can they really do about that anyway?) If you're looking for a great little family-friendly place to grab reasonably-priced GOOD food (and great drinks!), this should definitely be on your radar. read more

I have been here two times now and both times I was happy with my meal. The menu is kind of minimual right now but the waitress (very nice by the way) told me that it is just temporary. There is enough on there to give you some choices. There was a good mix of people . Some older couples, college kids, and some families. The prices are fantastic. CHEAP. The calzone is YUM.My husband got the pizza and said it was also great. If you want fancy dining then dont go here.. If you want some really good cheap food this is the place for you . Great prices on food and alcohol. The sauce and crust (of the thin and crispy sort) are fine, and they have a wide selection of toppings. My friend raved about the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and hot barbecue wings. They were playing the Iron and Wine pandora station really loud when we visited and we had to request a change. Just too painful. The service was bad -- had to go to the bar and work to get someone every time we needed drink refills or any attention. The servers would go on break at the bar without letting you know and you'd end up flagging down someone else. We needed some food when we were camped out at Sluggo's, so we decided to try Half Pint Pizza. They had several pizzas to choose from, but we went with the buffalo chicken pizza. For this pizza, you can choose a bleu cheese or a ranch base (I believe we went with ranch). For toppings, it comes with chicken, red onions, bacon, garlic, and provolone. It was sooo good. I was also impressed with their service. The first pizza they made was burnt (slightly in my opinion), so they gave it to us for free and made us another pizza. A sixteen inch is only $14, so not bad at all. I plan to have another delicious pizza in the future when I return to Sluggo's. read more

The service and professionalism in this joint is garbage. Beyond garbage, in fact. Servers openly describe and complain about patrons in front of other customers. One bicyclist female staff member has repeatedly verbalized threats of potential violence towards patrons with a smug arrogance. She openly mocks patrons, claiming she's from the east-coast with a suggestive tone of her customers being inferior. This is largely a group of 20-somethings who give freebies and discounts to their friends in clear view of customers while neglecting others, all with the verbalized assumption that they 'deserve' tips. Going further, kitchen staff come out and confront customers about their experience in this establishment, seeking to clarify who might have been behind unsavory Yelp reviews. read more

I adore this place. I was a bit worried when I saw how bare and a little shabby things were, but when our waitress said they had just recently opened, I cut the place some slack... The food is pretty freaking awesome. I got an order of bread sticks (which were obviously hand made and rolled- I wish I could find frozen bread this good) and a calzone. Everything is hand made! That's what I loved most about it. They're cheap and delicious which makes this place my new go-to for drinks and pizza. Our waitress, who seems to be getting some heat for not being an expert on all the alcohol, was extremely pleasant. She didn't know for sure whether they had Guinness, but she was nice enough to check and offer an alternative if there wasn't any.
