Can't believe I haven't been here sooner. Ambiance is a 10/10 they have classic 90s jams going on a Monday and that's exactly the type of vibe I'm here for. Nothing better than a nice cocktail while tears for fears or Sade is playing in the back. The pizza is Neapolitan style so if you don't like totally understand it but we LOVE IT. So many different flavors and combinations, we have to come back and try the pasta! Our server was incredible, Jake is a gem and I hope to be served by him next time. Yall are doing everything right!! Love this place

Came on a Monday night, 8pm, and we got seated within a few minutes. Our server was Jake, and he was the best! Ambiance was amazing, played 90s music, has a disco ball inside. We ordered the little gems Caesar salad, Margherita pizza and the wild arugula and prosciutto pizza. Everything was 10/10. I highly recommend, and my friends and I will definitely be back soon!

Stopped by here a little before opening and there was already a line! We were seated in the beautiful outdoor patio where we could hear the place next door having a love island watch party. Such fresh and delicious ingredients used in every dish. Favorites of the night were the melon, fig, and prosciutto salad as well as the pepperoni pizza!

I came to Pizzaiolo with a few friends and we were seated right away when we arrived. We decided to share everything family style and started with the Acme bread with salted butter. For our mains, we ordered two pizzas: the margherita and one with tomato sauce, pepperoni, jalapeño, and spicy honey. Everything we had was really delicious, and I especially liked the crust since it had a nice chewy texture. The ambiance was great and felt both upscale and casual at the same time. The servers were very attentive, and I really enjoyed my experience here.

One of my favorite restaurants. Amazing food! Bartender Mike was lovely! A must when in the area :)

This is such a cute spot. We stopped in for a coffee and to do a little work remotely and it's such a great place for it during the day. We ended up just ordering coffees, but the person who helped us was very nice and there were plenty of tables to choose from. We ended up at a four top in the main dining area and were able to sip our drinks and work, while chatting. I heard the food is good, and after enjoying the space I'd definitely stop by again.

Long time neighborhood favorite in Temescal. We frequent for pizzas and pastas. Reservation is a must unless you don't mind the wait. It's always packed.

Recently came back to Oakland to visit family and had a wonderful time at Pizzaiolo! Loved that the food was flavorful and fresh and that we could share everything!! Who doesn't love a great tasting menu Service was impeccable and had multiple people come in and check on us. You can tell it's a neighborhood fave when you go on a Wednesday evening and it is full and people are engaged in lively conversation. I would probably not recommend coming for a first date unless you're able to project your vice cuz it can get a little loud but it's a great place for delicious food and a nice drink!

Lowkey, intimate vibes here paired with great pizza! One pizza is six slices, so enough to share or have by yourself + bring some home (which is what I did) The mushroom one had great flavor, but the crust was a little chewy so just wish it was a bit crispier! Not sure if the automatically added 'Fare wage + wellness fee' is standard in Temescal? Not against it but would like to know more instead of blindly paying for it

Another amazing meal at Pizzaiolo. Been coming here for 20+ years and it hasn't lost a step. Food as usual impeccable . Paris was wonderful as was Matt. Sweet experience. Thank you.

Our second time at this place. Salads are great & can't go wrong with any pizza. The pizza dough is light & amazing. Good cocktails too. Must try when in Oakland.

What time is a good idea to line up out the door tonight FRI 1/2/26 if I want to sit INSIDE for only me? 4:45? Or is even earlier than that better?... help!!!

I would start to line up at least 15-20 minutes before they open.

Is the happy hour pizza smaller, and is it restricted to bar only or can I order it at a main regular table instead?

No, it was a regular size when we ordered

    Is the patio dog friendly?

Yes! Lots of well behaved dogs on leashes

Are children (i.e., under 21) permitted?

Yes, Pizzaiolo is very kid friendly!

Are the portion sizes of all food items very small? If yes would I be spending $100 on very little food?

Here is the way to order at my favorite place. The appetizers with their amazing bread can be a light meal on its own. We always over order and eat too much haha We get three apps, One main to share and sometimes a pizza when there are 4 of us. Any…

Can we make a reservation for 8 for the outside patio beforehand?

Hi all, how do I make reservations for two? Is it possible? Thanks!

They are currently not taking reservations. We went at about 5:30 on a Friday and waited 45 minutes or so for a table.

Is it dog friendly on the patio?

The patio is dog friendly. You do need to walk you dog through the alley that starts at 49th street and ends at the patio (per the health department) The staff at the restaurants love dogs!

Is the outdoor seating by reservation? If so, is there any first come first served seating available?

No reservations. Back patio requires signing up with the hostess. The parklet is first come first serve but you are limited to the menu options. Cannot order from the first or second course options.

    Do they wifi available?

yes, at least during breakfast when i was there last.

Website says no longer open sundays ... have not called to confirm. has anyone else?

Bummer! last time I was there was Easter Sunday and it was closed, but not sure if that was because of Easter or not.

The distinction is a matter of ambition. Mama's sugo is a dependable companion, just as much as it is a well crafted pasta dish. In New Jersey (my ancestral homeland), every town or neighborhood has a place like this. When you need a place to unwind with a glass of wine or treat your family to a fancy pasta with red sauce, this is the place to come. If you happen to be around Lake Merritt, then by all means stop in. I strongly recommend the vegetarian sugo (made with mushrooms). But, if you are coming from elsewhere, it may be just as rewarding to spend time at your own neighborhood's "dependable companion."

So I ordered "Spaghetti with Meaty Marinara and 3 Piece Meatballs" for $15.99. What I received was spaghetti and meatballs, no meaty sauce. The flavor was bland and nothing to rave about. The 3 meatballs were tasty. The pasta was a little dry. Perhaps you should put a scoop of sauce on top of the pasta before you seal the container. Also, they use a foil container, not a microwavable one. The dish itself tastes average, nothing special. For $15.99, you should add extra sauce and add a free dinner roll. If you do a little research, you will find that "901 Marina Village" is the Straw Hat Pizza Restaurant. I don't know if this is a shared kitchen, a ghost kitchen, or just a menu option at Straw hat in Alameda. Would I order again? Nope, not worth $15.99, even with $5.00 off. 901 Marina Village is the Straw Hat Pizza in the Marina Village shopping center. Free parking. Near the Alameda Tube. So I called the restaurant, and they seemed to realize before I even finished explaining, because clearly another customer had received my order. I confirmed the item I ordered and they said they'd re-deliver. I live 10-15 min from the restaurant. 35 min later the re-delivered item arrived.... still not correct. I ordered "Bruschetta Chicken Pasta" and there was no bruschetta. The food itself was also pretty mediocre for the price they're charging. My husband was unimpressed with the quality and scant portion of his meatball spaghetti. The portion of my re-delivered item was ok, but the earlier (wrong) item they delivered was a tiny portion, the container barely half full. GrubHub provided a full refund for my Bruschetta Chicken Pasta, at least. Also as others have noted: the restaurant address is actually the address for VJ's Sports Bar, formerly Straw Hat Pizza, so not sure what's going on there... Bottom line: avoid this place.
