We had a fantastic dinner here on Friday night. We sat in the rear so I f room which was very cozy and received excellent service. On previous visits we had their delicious wood-fires pizzas, but decided to go with pastas. We started off with a couple Old Fashions, followed by a delicious fresh salad with their garlicky Green Goddess dressing. For our entrees, I chose the spaghetti bolognese which was delicious, meaty, and hearty. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was perfecto! My husband had the pasta carbonara on fettuccini and it was so good - so creamy with delicious bites of smoky bacon. We were absolutely delighted with our meal! We were too full to try dessert, but next time I'm going for the tiramisu we saw others enjoy. read more

Melanie solved it by calling Olympia and having it switched while Patrick quickly made my order. The food here is already off the hook but this kind of customer service is just above and beyond. My best friend and I went here to enjoy their lunch special. We walked and were greeted and was asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We chose outside (there isn't a lot of roomy seating choices inside so outside was the best for that time). The lady gave us a water pitcher and menus. We decided on doing the pasta and salad for our lunches. It fell within the lunch prices and looked and sounded pretty good too. When she came back she took our food order. Carbonara and a house salad and a vinaigrette dressing (when ordering the salad the waitress asked us what dressing we would like. Proceeded to give us options like a green goddess which she said was the best one and few other choices. The pasta came out right after the salads. It was pretty tasty.) Pesto Pasta and a side house salad with green goddess dressing. (I had chosen the green goddess dressing since she rated it so highly and everything did come out in good timing. The salads then more water and our pastas. There was nothing wrong with the food.. ) Until our bill came back and we both looked and realized that the prices were a bit different. Both of us were charged extra for the salad dressing we chose. We weren't told that the different salad dressings would be an upcharge. And some of the pastas were also an upcharge. When we asked the waitress she replied that if we just chose the oil and vinegar supplied on the table that it would've stayed within the lunch prices. Also, that she wished the different salad dressing prices would be printed on the menu. We went over the prices again, paid, and left. It was a nice day to enjoy food outside. Just a bit thrown back about the upcharges. They either need to tell the customers that their choices are more or print it on the menu. Otherwise, it's would've been a 5 rating. read more

It was moderately crowded for a Saturday. The place is a quant old house converted to a restaurant. Apparently the owner has expanded and has another much larger place in Olympia. Total $51. Arrived and we were told to sit anywhere. We (3 kids, 2 adult) picked to sit outside. Music was at a nice level and I really like how the bushes surrounded us, creating privacy. We ordered 14" Fresca and Presciutto pies and a peach Bellini for my wife. The waiter did forget the drink, but he took it off on our check. The pizza was amazing. Some of the best I've ever had. 1st time trying to this place & in not going to lie, it took 2 hours from the the time we entered until we left. Some of the food was good but, the service 2/10. It took 30 min for the server to just walk up to our table and ask for our drinks. I understand they were busy, but don't be taking in more orders and customers if you can't serve the ones inside the restaurant. The pizza was a little over cooked and burnt to where it curled up! Three of us shared a salad, veggie pizza, bottle of wine, and I also took a pizza to go. This is not your kid pizza with greasy cheese and meat. Thin crust, fresh ingredients, wonderful taste. Wow!!!! Me and my family have been going to this place for years, it's so good! My family use to live in Italy and they said this place reminds them of it. Their pizza is made with ingredients transported from Italy as well: it's authentic. The place is pretty and the staff is friendly and attentive. I would say the only complaint I have about this location is there's a lot of flies inside the restaurant, going on the food. But it's understandable because there's outdoor seating, so the waiters are going back and forth. I tried their gelato for the first time and it was AMAZING!!! I crave it all the time. it's yummy. Like all dining establishments, there are ups and downs, hurdles to overcome, and pain points to work through. Pizzeria La Gitana in Yelm is no different. We have been frequenting La Gitana in Yelm since its inception and have remained fans despite growing pains. Firstly, the owners - Alin and Carola, along with Marian are delightful. They have become friends over the years, yet my review is not biased based on this fact. I have observed their genuine care for all their customers and have witnessed their contributions to the community. About the food: This is a pizza joint - obviously. Their focus is on tasty, good-for-you, organic ingredients. Quite simply, this is why in our opinion, the food tastes better than other establishments. Sure, you can visit other "joints" in Yelm (I believe we now have 6 or 7?) for a lesser costing pizza, but you'll be letting go of the deliciousness that is what La Gitana is all about. If you are not a fan of thin-crust pizzas, this is probably not the pizza for you. While they do take pride in their dough, the crust is meant to enhance its toppings - the crust is a supporting actor within the show as a whole. I adore their thin crust pizza - their large dinner size plus a salad is more than enough food to fill us up, and we end up taking leftovers home. As far as salads go, they are addicting - their simple Mediterranean with their homemade Italian dressing is amazing. Their homemade green goddess dressing is quite tasty as well. We don't order dessert too often, but they do look delicious - I know for a fact they are homemade. I've ready through these reviews and do understand where some people are coming from. From a price point, yes - I can see where food here can be seen as high/exorbitant/overpriced, etc. But I will say, you get what you pay for. You could absolutely pay less money at the local Dominos or Pizza Hut, and yes it may be tasty and filling; please the kids, etc., but I'd much rather know what I'm putting into my body than to try and determine what all is going into the fast food-type pizzas. There have been quite a few reviews focused on service. Those who have posted, I can understand their point of views. Service is sometimes inconsistent: Yes, there have been long waits; yes, there have been mix-ups; yes, there have been overly charred crusts; yes, there have been very flaccid crusts. My experience however, when issues have arisen, or brought to attention, wait staff have been very keen on setting things right - whether a refired pizza, food on the house, an additional glass of wine while we wait, etc. I am also aware that in the current market, there has been high turnover in most all restaurants. That makes consistency a challenge, when constantly having to train new staff. Overall, La Gitana, Yelm is getting things right. We are a fan and will continue to be. read more

This place makes your food to order and quality of the food and decor of the restaurant feels like something you'd find in Capitol Hill or Ballard Seattle some place. Just went in for dinner on my birthday because we've heard how good the pizza is here and it's so cute. After 15 minutes of waiting and not being given water or service, when there were only 2 other tables seated in the restaurant, we kindly asked one of the servers if someone was going to wait on us. My husband and I came here last night to celebrate my birthday early and I'm so glad I chose this cute restaurant to eat. We've lived in Yelm for 2, going on 3 years now and I don't know why we have never had this place until now! I got the Mediterranean Salad that came with this naan like bread and it was so delicious. My husband and I were able to share the salad as an appetizer together and it was the perfect amount for us. We got the gustosa (sp?) pizza and oh my was it so delicious!! I'm pregnant so baby didn't like the meat on it but honestly I loved how fresh the pizza was and the crust was just so yummy! The pizza was not super greasy at all. Totally worth the price. Once we arrived at the restaurant, we were instantly greeted and seated right away. The gals taking care of us were so kind and attentive, always checking in on us to make sure we were okay. I originally started coming here because a past coworker of mine, Leslie, works here as me I know she's a great server and always raves about this place. From day one, I've always been impressed. Leslie, London, and Mel (sorry if I have left anyone out, everyone who works there is fantastic) all give the best service. I love their create your own cauliflower crust pizza. It's crispy and every vegetable topping is FRESH! No soggy cooked veggies. Mel even put our arugula topping in a side to go box so it wouldn't get soggy in our to go pizza box! Very thoughtful. My gf is vegan, so it was important that this restaurant had vegan options. She ordered a customized vegan pizza and I had a pasta dish w/Bolognese which were both available on their lunch special menu. Food was excellent! My pasta dish was flavorful and just the right portion where I didn't feel like I overate. Service could have been better, but we must have came on a bad day.
