Review for Pizzeria Sapienza CLT As a local to the neighborhood, Sapienza is just a couple blocks away from me, and it has quickly become one of my go-to spots when I'm craving classic Italian comfort food. Sometimes you just want the whole experience-- pepperoni pizza, calamari, maybe a pasta like spaghetti with meatballs or a rich Bolognese, and something bright and lemony to finish. This place absolutely delivers on those cravings. They do a fantastic job with takeout--fast, efficient, and consistently hot when you get it home. I've also met friends there to sit outside and enjoy a casual meal. It's located on a very busy corner at Church and Ninth, so there's always something happening, which makes it a fun place to people-watch while you eat. One thing to note: there's a fire station right across the street, so it can get a little loud at times--but that's part of the Uptown energy, and honestly, it adds to the character of the area. What stands out: * Great value for the price * Fast, reliable service * Friendly staff * Solid, classic Italian menu * Convenient neighborhood location I also noticed they occasionally run app promotions or discounts, which definitely caught my attention the first time--and helped turn me into a repeat customer. Parking tip: Parking is mostly street parking, and it can be limited during busy times. If you're picking up takeout, you can usually find a quick spot or circle the block--just remember many of the streets are one-way, so pay attention to signage and traffic flow. Bottom line: Delicious, dependable food, friendly service, and great value. This has become one of my regular neighborhood spots--and if you're in Uptown near Ninth and Church, it's absolutely worth checking out.

I love this place. It is at a very convenient location which is on the corner of 9th and Church Street. It is also affordable, so if you are turned off by the high prices resteraunts uptown, this is the place to be. They sell pizza by the slice, and they have a small bar for drinks.

This is a cute and casual place with amazing pizza! Didn't try the pasta or drinks but we absolutely enjoyed our slices. The pizza was super hot, priced fairly, and delicious. The service was fast and friendly. I just wish they had more pies with other meat options other than pork.

This restaurant was walking distance from our Airbnb. It wasn't too busy on a Friday night and they had slices already prepared behind the counter. I ordered the veggie pizza and they warmed it up perfectly. The fried green beans were plentiful and delicious, hot and crispy. Restaurant was very clean and pretty quiet. Outdoor seating is also available. Beer was available too.

They also have a location on Park Road formally Sal's pizza. Nice small pizza establishment clean to sit down and eat a delicious slice. The employees were professional and welcoming. I purchased the bruschetta pizza with a balsamic glaze, incredible fresh tomatoes, fresh cut onions, and the balsamic glaze, complements all the ingredients. The crust was crunchy and cooked to perfection. It's my go to.

This is my favorite pizza spot. The cheese and pepperoni pizza is amazing. Today I tried the Stromboli, Italian wings, and shrimp scampi. The shrimp scampi was inedible. The Stromboli was alright. Wings were good. Really let down. My girlfriend got the scampi and once I tasted it I realized why she couldn't eat it. :(

The pizza is good even though service was a little slow and they left off the basalmic vinegar.

When is half off wine night? And do they have any gluten free or reduced gluten options?

Hi Julie! Thanks for inquiring. Tuesday is our half price bottles of wine night. You can check out our wine list on Instagram. We are looking to add more gluten free options moving forward, but for now we offer salads and wings.

It was super busy, so I believe that a reservation is needed for the weekend, especially for larger groups. The vibe is a bit darker and moodier but with natural lighting- perfect for a date night but not limited to that. The espresso martinis, cocktails, beer, and mocktails were all delicious. They have amazing espresso martinis and aperol spritzes. The only dishes that I tried included the white truffle garlic bread, Sunday night lasagna, and the hot honey prosciutto pizza. Everything was delicious. A special shoutout to the Sunday night lasagna - WOW it was perfect. I'm usually not a huge lasagna person, but this changed that. I would 100% recommend this. Since we were celebrating my birthday with our parents, they were kind enough to give me a free dessert. I chose the salted caramel budino, and it was amazing. I would definitely recommend this as a dessert. Overall, we had a great experience! I would definitely come back.

Review for North Italia…read more has absolutely become one of my staples in Charlotte.** It's located in the heart of South End--a trendy, energetic neighborhood with beautiful outdoor dining--and one of the biggest perks here is easy parking, which, as any Charlotte diner knows, is always a win. Inside, the restaurant is gorgeous. Think large, comfortable booths, warm lighting, fresh flowers, and a lively but polished atmosphere. I always make a reservation through OpenTable--I'm too old to be waiting around to eat, and I might as well rack up some points and perks while I'm at it. One of the things I appreciate most about North Italia is their seasonal menu. It keeps the experience fresh and thoughtful, and you can tell the kitchen is paying attention to ingredients and timing. I usually start with a glass of wine-- a sparkling rosé or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc--something cold, clean, and refreshing. Bubbles are always a good option for me. They serve a delicious focaccia at the table, which I sometimes indulge in, but the dish that truly stands out--the one I still dream about--was a seasonal ravioli with butternut squash and crispy sage. It was beautifully balanced, comforting, and memorable in the best way. Other favorites: * The Caesar salad--perfectly dressed * The arancini and calamari--always solid starters * The pizzas, especially the cacio e pepe * And yes, the desserts are absolutely worth saving room for Brunch here is also a lovely experience. Sitting on the patio, eating alfresco on a sunny Sunday, reminds me so much of what I loved about California--being outdoors, enjoying great food, and taking your time. Thankfully, there's plenty of shade, so it's comfortable even on warm days. They do offer a happy hour. It's not the most extensive in town, but it's perfectly fine for drinks, a pizza, or a charcuterie board with friends after work. What keeps me coming back: * Consistently good service * Clean, beautiful space * Thoughtful seasonal dishes * Easy parking * Reliable quality Yes, it's a bit upscale--but it's approachable, welcoming, and dependable. And when a chef takes the time to create seasonal dishes that appeal to diners with curious palates, that deserves recognition. Bottom line: A polished, reliable favorite in South End that delivers great food, beautiful ambiance, and a consistently enjoyable dining experience.

I've tried several of the sauces and my favorite hands down is the vodka sauce. I like to add spinach and mushrooms to it. I have a few critiques though. I think the pasta water is under-salted most of the time. The noodles could use more salt content in my opinion. The salad proteins are always overcooked - edges are often hard. Finally, the service isn't great. Trying to get a water or tea refill is all but impossible. I will keep going bc the food is mostly good and I enjoy the ambience.

Forgot to take photos of the bread because I was too busy enjoying it. Oops! We ordered meatballs as an app, and I had the lasagna for my entree. Both were pretty good, though I wish the lasagna had a bit more of a "noodle-y" bite to it, if that makes sense. I felt like I was just eating a bowl of cheese and sauce. The ratio of noodles to cheese and sauce didn't feel balanced, and felt more like lasagna soup, but overall, it was decent. I think I'd try something different next time. My husband had the mussels and said they were okay- basically mussels and tomato sauce. As for the ambiance, it's casual Italian dining experience, and includes a market at the front of the store for take home breads and pastas.

Starbucks comes to mind but only because the app makes buying Starbucks easier than making my own coffee. Since opening in uptown, Portifino has become one of those places. I hate to admit it, but there have been weeks where I have eaten at least one meal there every day. Sometimes twice.... Charlotte isn't known for its pizza. I moved here from up north 25 years ago and growing up I. The northeast sets the bar pretty high in terms of pizza. Portifino's is great. The sauce is sweet and portioned perfectly. The cheese is nice and salty, so you actually taste it. The toppings are flavorful, and again, well proportioned. My favorite is the Caprice which comes with tomato, fresh mozzarella, olive oil and fresh basil. It's amazing. The pasta dishes are excellent. I'd recommend the linguini with clam sauce and throw in some shrimp and broccoli for good measure. The Calzones are HUGE. I get mine with Mushroom, sausage, pepperoni and black olives. The But their subs are really what stands out. The chicken Philly has to be one of the best sandwiches in town. I could go on and on here because I've had almost everything on the menu here but no one has the time or attention spans for that. The service is excellent. It's a family run business and it FEELS like a family run business. They care about what they're doing. The person at the counter taking your order has a stake in your satisfaction. Don't get me wrong, we're not talking about Ritz Carlton Gold Standard. It's a pizza joint run by REAL people. But they're good people, and they actually care. That's better in so many ways. My best recommendation is to go get lunch with a friend, coworker, or even by yourself and sit in a booth by the window, watch the city do its thing and enjoy some real food made by real people. It's a great way to spend your 30 minute lunch.
