Wheelz is a newish pizza joint brought to Charlotte by way of Wilmington, NC. They promise fresh ingredients on a unique sourdough crust, and now have two spots in the city, one in Midtown and the other in Southend. I have ordered their pizzas a couple times while feeling a little peckish late at night, and I've had some mixed results. I really like their Buffalo chicken pizza, and the pepperoni was promising too, but both arrived a little bit undercooked. I prefer a crisp bottom and these were both kind of runny in the middle. I'm not sure if that is the way that sourdough bakes or if it was a case of just getting orders out the door faster. The pizza was fine, but both times I think if it was just a bit crispier I would have liked it a lot more. They specialize in personal 10" pies and seem to be open late, so I think they probably make a good late night drunk meal. Also worth noting is that they offer delivery on their website so instead of ordering off door dash please consider ordering from them directly. That way they don't have to loose a cut. Always nice to support small businesses.

This place had a lot of hype when it opened in Charlotte and I'm not sure it lived up to that for me. My husband and I shared: - Pepperoni Pizza - Soppressata, Roasted Red Peppers, Hot Honey Pizza On the positive side, I loved the crust. They use a sourdough crust and it's incredibly delicious. It was the highlight of the pizza for me. They also use my favorite kind of pepperoni (the little cups). The thing I didn't like about these pizzas is that there is basically no sauce. There is a small swirl of sauce on top and that's it. This made it more of a flatbread than a pizza to me which wasn't what I was looking for. If you enjoy pizza without much (or any) sauce, then this is the spot for you.

I was definitely excited to try Wheelz based on all the amazing reviews, however I guess I chose wrong in creating my own pizza. Although it is brick oven I don't know that it is comparable to other brick oven pizzas I've had elsewhere. The crust was cooked nicely, but the interior of the pizza was a little underdone. I ordered the 10" pepperoni with mushrooms, onions, and peppers. I loved the crisp pepperoni but the onions and peppers were not cooked through and based on the fact there were so much they overwhelmed the entire pizza. I recommend maybe sticking with their menu options, since that appears to be what everyone likes.

New year, new pizza place and DAMN! I'm here for it! This little gem that originated on the coast down by Wilmington made its way to Charlotte, and boy am I glad! As of right now, this is probably making its way to my top/ favorite pizza in Charlotte. This is located where the old pizza hut used to be off of Kings. So I was excited to get a even better replacement back in the neighborhood! The most unique thing about this place is the sourdough crust... If you are a sourdough fan, which that is the one thing I miss from living in Northern California, this is the place for you! The only thing I wish there was, was a dining area, because enjoying it right in the moment coming out of the oven would be top-notch! Like I've sat in my car and ate a piece before driving home lol... But luckily, I'm only an eight minute drive so it's still warm, fresh and ready to eat! The breadsticks are good, although some may say, they are very basic with slight cheese, melted on top, and really just tasting like a piece of sourdough bread... But again, if that is your jam, you are going to love them! The pizza though... gosh, I'm drooling just thinking of it! You can see it from my photos that the presentation of toppings is beautiful and a top indicator of wanting to dive right in.... Well, after taking some fabulous pictures for the yelpers who might be reading this review. The taste is delectably and the flavor carries through in every bite! And then when you get to the crust... again if you're a big fan of sourdough, this is where it's at! Get a side of red sauce for dipping to elevate the taste or dip or sprinkle with some Parmesan! That's my go to. They don't have a cheese sauce but I'm tempted to add some of my fav into the mix and hopefully maybe they'll bring an option to the menu sooner than later. All in and all, the staff handling the takeout were super nice and helpful every time I've picked up or called an order in and I truly appreciate that! They also have easy to order pick up or delivery on their website! I've had it twice in the past two weeks and as this third week is ending I'm starting to have withdrawals so looks like I know what I'll be adding to my menu for the weekend ;) It's a MUST TRY in midtown, sourdough fan or not, but ESPECIALLY if you're a sourdough lover! 5/5 stars. Must try!

This is the good stuff. I had their buffalo chicken pizza and it was a very tasty pie. Yeah, not keto compliant at all. But with the three beers I enjoyed over the course of two hours, I was already going to be out of ketosis so let's enjoy some pizza crust, hmmm? Just a bit of blackened on the edges to show that it's cooked properly, nicely topped with spicy chicken and served with a small pot of blue cheese dressing. Five stars. Delicious! Their pizza is so different, the good different! Maybe it's the extra sauce combo with the crust? It's just yum! I really loved how nice brian was taking our order and the options were endless, love topping options! This pizza was also a hit with our outfits haha! Best pizza for a not so "high" not so "man" haha

I visited Wheelz Pizza at the Kings Drive location on 5/18/25 as I was leaving church in the area. I needed something quick since I was planning to do a little car shopping afterwards. After a quick search for pizza nearby I was quite surprised when I saw Wheelz Pizza appear with their stellar reviews. I tasted their pizza once before during a party and while I only had one cheese slice at the event I thought it was quite tasty. This location shares a dedicated parking lot with other businesses, and I was able to find a close space right in front of the establishment. This is a takeout business only, which was not a problem for me since I planned to eat it in the car anyway. I walked in and placed my order at the counter and the staff mentioned that my pizza would be ready in 10 minutes. I opted to wait in my car since there was no seating. I ordered a 10" pepperoni pizza to satisfy my taste buds and it was delicious! I also ordered marinara sauce to dip the crust in as well as crushed red pepper and Parmesan cheese. The Parmesan cheese was served fresh and not in a packet. I would normally order lots of toppings, meats and veggies, for extra flavor. This pie was just fine as-is. It was served hot out the oven. I knew that I had made the right choice with the first bite. The crust was chewy and perfect when paired with the marinara sauce. The pizza itself was thin which I loved as well. The pepperoni and fresh mozzarella...chef's kiss. I hope they open a location in southwest Charlotte, but until then I will continue to visit the Kings Drive and South End locations.

I can't say enough of those pizza. I don't eat pork and I'm ok with sticking with the 3 cheese pie here. That combo with the sauce is so good! Please try it!

The useful keep it crisp screen in the box. Brilliant.

Good pizza. Great crust. Speedy service. Zero ambiance, 100% take-away but the pizza is very good. One of the best things is the little screen they put your pie on in the box to help keep the crust from getting soggy. Such a brilliant idea!

Yum! We split two personal (10") pizzas - pepperoni and supreme. The supreme is actually more like a build your own with the option for four toppings. We did ham, pineapple, and jalapeño. Both were delicious!

Wheelz Pizza in Midtown is now open and comes to us from Wilmington so I consider them local-ish! Their pizza comes with a sourdough crust that I absolutely love but, full disclosure I am a sourdough lover through and through! We got a pepperoni pizza where you can see the pepperonis have a beautiful char around the edges. I loved the fresh mozzarella on the pizza along with the 2 other cheeses - buffalo mozzarella cheese and 10-month fresh shaved parmesan! Everything was super high quality and tasted like it! Be sure to follow Wheelz Pizza on IG to get the best deals/specials and remember they are take-out and delivery only! However, they do have a pizza truck too that you may spot at local breweries so be sure to give them a try! They are located in Midtown in Kings Court (where Melting Pot is). @feisty.eats

    Three Cheese pizza.
    Alisha J.

We went to Wheelz Pizza because the thought of a pizza made with sourdough intrigued us! Baby, we were not disappointed! We had the three cheese pizza and I also created my own with onions, sausage, and pepperoni! They both were fantastic. There were ample amounts of delicious cheese and the sauce was simply delightful! It was in fact a wheel of sauce. The way they put the sauce on the pizza is quite unique for the area. The toppings on my create your own were also delicious. Now let's get to the sourdough crust! It was very good! The kind of good that when you put it in your mouth you have to look at it because you are so surprised! Well that is exactly what I was, surprised! The service was fast and the associates were helpful and friendly. One was even singing when we walked in the door! It is a small establishment and there is no seating inside, but it is a great spot for pickup! I would recommend that you try it! If your looking for something different this is your place.

We stopped in here for a weeknight late bite when our options were somewhat limited. Thankfully at that hour, street parking in NoDa wasn't too bad, we got a spot just off the main drag. Slices here are GIGANTIC, one is easily about 3 standard slices of pizza, or two normal NY size slices. We got a pepperoni and a cheese. The pepperoni had nice kick to them and the cheese was a high quality. You had to let the pepperoni grease drain onto your plate a bit, but that is expected. The thing that makes both slices so good is the garlic butter bath all around the crust that you can see them doing in the kitchen. Not just that, but the texture in the crust will make even non-crust lovers think again. You're basically left with big doughy garlic butter breadsticks. Definitely a 5 on taste. My only complaint, and I'm sure it is partly by design to keep people from staying long, the stools you can sit on to enjoy your pizza inside the restaurant are THE WORST I have ever placed my derrier on. Even for 15 minutes, it wasn't just uncomfortable, it was painful. It took me a couple blocks to start walking correctly again. Might as well just get rid of them and have people stand to eat. Terrible. Almost knocked a star off for it, that bad. Regardless of the world's worst stools, I would come back for more pizza and just plan on not eating it there.

The waiter was efficient, not friendly but not unfriendly either, just doing his job pretty much. Would have been nice to have him check on us once or twice but again not the biggest deal. The pizza: my son really enjoyed it and gave it a 5/5 and hubby ranked it a 3/5. He thought the crust was a tad too soggy. Side Caesar: 3/5 had some pieces of the lettuce that should have never made it in the salad and the dressing was just okay. Morty: also a 3/5. Too much arugula, we took some out and then seasoned the rest with s&p and some crushed red pepper flakes. It just lacked a depth of flavor and the bread and arugula overpowered it. The seasoning helped a bit. I even added garlic aioli based on a review I read on here but I didn't taste it. The pasta salad it came with also lacked flavor, though very green and appearing loaded with flavor it was not. And when eating it, the texture was very gummy. Didn't finish that. Overall, it was okay but I'm not likely to return just because there are better options based on the things we tried. But taste is subjective and it just wasn't our vibe today. But check it out for yourself because we only tried three things and the pictures of the other pizzas do look amazing. That is all!

Review for Pizza Baby…read more After a relaxing Vinyasa yoga class and sound bath at The Coterie Wellness one evening, I found myself hungry--and conveniently, Pizza Baby had just opened in the same complex. Perfect timing. Since it was still new, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and I decided to grab a table outside. The outdoor seating was lovely--relaxed, comfortable, and a great way to unwind after a wellness session. I'm a sucker for thin-crust pizza, especially when it's hand-tossed and thoughtfully prepared, so one item immediately caught my eye: the rosemary pizza with hot honey. Sold. I added Italian sausage to the pizza and paired it with a fresh green salad (I can never resist a good Green Goddess dressing). Yes, it was a little on the pricey side, but the quality matched the cost--and I was genuinely pleased with my choices. The crust was thin and flavorful, the toppings were balanced, and the hot honey added just the right touch of sweetness and heat. This is definitely a place I'd return to--next time with friends--so we can share a few different pizzas and appetizers and really explore the menu. A few practical notes: * Parking is generally easy since the restaurant shares a lot with neighboring businesses in the complex * There are several nearby spots, including a wine bar and entertainment venues, which make the area feel lively * There was some early parking congestion when a nearby church held services, but the situation has since been addressed with signage and coordinated parking solutions It's nice to see businesses and community partners working together to make things run smoothly. There's also another location of Pizza Baby that I plan to visit, which speaks to how positive my first experience was. Bottom line: Great thin-crust pizza, pleasant outdoor seating, and a convenient stop after yoga or an evening out. A solid addition to Charlotte's growing food scene--and absolutely worth checking out. And if you're already in the area for a class or wellness session, it makes for the perfect post-workout reward.
