I hate to do this but this is the 2nd time that I've made a mobile order the night before to pick up at 7:30 and have had to wait more than 10 mins. Today it was 15 and that was after I walked in looking upset. They still had to make 2 of my 3 drinks. When I drove up to the window they asked me to pull around and they'd bring it out. Well after 10 minutes I went in to investigate and found them still making drinks. All this time while customers came and went inside and through drive up. I try to support my local coffee shop and treat my grandkids although it costs $30 for us all to get a drink and pastry but I just can't do it if I'm going to be made to wait and be late for work. I love this spot! The staff is always polite and friendly. The coffee is always good and they make really good recommendations. Today I tried the Pralines and Cream Cold Brew and it was just lovely! I added half and half, as well as a few pumps of praline and caramel syrups. Soooo yummy. They also recommended the spinach and feta croissant which were fresh out of the oven. LISTEN.... Wow!!! The difference a day makes!!! New owners!!! New attitudes!!! Fresh vibe in the place. The location is at 6600 Franklin Ave in front Rouses across from the UNO Lakefront Arena. I stopped in for a caramel granita after early voting this October 2020 and what a pleasant surprise it was to meet the new owner; she is beautiful inside and out, she was smiling and full of joy. Her joy spreads over into the whole atmosphere; the vibe when you enter is simply welcoming and amazing. The caramel granita was super tasty & refreshing. Although it has dairy in it and I'm not doing dairy, this is such a refreshing and welcoming treat, I just had to suck it up, literally and figuratively, and bear the discomfort. The cranberry muffin was fresh and I asked them to warm it up; it was oh so tasty, warm and melted like butter in my tummy. I have been wanting to stop in and today I finally got the chance to a little after noon. It was a delight to say the least. There was a very friendly gentleman who helped me make a selection of a Mocha Velvet Ice. He offered me flavors like salted caramel, chocolate, and I decided to get regular caramel and chocolate. The beverage was just what I wanted. I had it made with almond milk and it was so fresh and smooth, next thing I knew I was slurping up the whipped cream from the bottom of my cup. Good thing I was in the car by myself. I also chose a cranberry orange muffin. There was a very nice lady behind the counter who offered to warm it up for me. It was fresh, sweet, with huge pieces of fruit. I was very happy with my selections and have no complaints whatsoever. I'm glad too because this place is close to my job and I will definitely be stopping in regularly. read more

I was there twice today. The first time I got a medium vanilla velvet ice with extra Caramel. The cashier asked me was I tipping. Honestly I tip, but I wasn't t ready for that question. I tipped anyways because I think it's appropriate to tip. I went back for my second round, and the guy that took my order didn't ask me for my number for my rewards, so I asked him if he could enter my number or name so that I could get my points. He said "it might be too late for that." I turn I say well you didn't ask me for my number or if I wanted to get my points. He in turn says "you didn't ask." I looked at him and said "I patronize this place, it's only fair that you ask me." This boy looked at me and told me "ma'am I do t think you are using the right word. I'm like what??? Do you know what patronize means? Either way we both left and looked up the word. I went back. Now when I went back, there was a dark skinned, kinda heavy set lady that came to the window and tried to close the window in my face saying that "we not doing this!" I'm like what? Doing what?? I came back here to tell him that he was wrong and not to do that to nobody else, (because we both had patronizing a little confused. Well at least the way he spoke to me made me think that I was fricken confused. ). I looked at her and said we have to treat each other better. I teach,. I'm a para, but with this job we definitely teach. I told him don't do that nobody else! Because he would look foolish. . But I had to tell them because at the end of the day we are all people and should be treated with respect...don't treat people like that. Us black people have to do better. Stop judging each other. I frequented that PJ's. But today made me feel very very uncomfortable, unworthy and unwelcome. Hopefully it's a better day tomorrow for all of us. They have to train properly. read more

Okay Folks. Theirs some new owners on the block. So i had to give this place another try. Just walking in felt different. I understand that Covid-19 is still going on. So I made sure to wear my mask. I notice right away that everything was socially distance including the on the floor signs. The pastry area was fully stocked and looking delicious. But what shocked me the most was the owners were their helping their employees and greeting the customers as we walked in. I've never seen that done in New Orleans. Im pretty simple when it comes to coffee but this day i actually did one of the holiday drinks and it was very good. Free WiFi is all you had to offer mixed with good customer service and Im supporting your business. I invited a friend and she was impressed as well. We'll definitely be back very soon. read more

The drive through on this place could use a lot of work hence the 3 star review. Upon driving up you get to look at the menu but not order where one would normally. Instead we drive up and order at the window you'd normally just get food. This would be completely fine if they had a menu visible here but they don't. We got two cold brews, one black, and one with almond milk and a single shot of caramel. The drinks were great! We also wanted two chicken Swiss egg white sandwiches. We couldn't quite remember what they were called and did our best describing it (hence use for a menu). They ended up being out of one of the chicken Swiss croissant (which is what they thought we wanted). We got one of those and one spinach feta croissant. They were hot and okay overall but not what we originally intended/wanted. The staff was very nice as well through this process. Biggest complaint is fix the drive through so we can know what we're ordering! read more

However, they are located in the same shopping center as Rouse's, and power was already running 7 am the morning after... I've had great coffee and service every time I've stopped in. read more

This PJ's location is one of my regulars because of its proximity to my son's school. It's busy in the morning, between folks working in the buildings across the street from UNO as well as students/faculty from the school itself. Because of the morning traffic, they're always baking stuff, and the orange-cranberry muffins were right out of the oven. Staff is cheerful, nice, and the coffee is always top-notch. Careful of the glare in the morning! The shop has an eastern exposure. While most of the morning customers are in-and-out, a few folks settle in to do some work. I sometimes frequent to this PJ's location when I am "attending" church per my mother's request or studying here when I cannot concentrate at home. There are plenty of inside and outside seating. They recently changed their soft padded chairs to all wooden hard seats which I felt like was better since the padding on the older chairs were starting to wear away. I usually order a hot/iced medium coffee with an extra shot of espresso to give me that kick starter I need in the mornings or before I begin study sessions. The nice thing about their espresso shots are that they're cold espresso shots so they don't melt all your ice down. I began drinking my coffee black a few years ago and found that you could really identify the true taste of different coffee grinds when it's not masked by cream and sugar. PJ's black coffee is my favorite because it's not too bitter and smokey like other places (Starbucks). Staff is usually friendly and nice! read more

My fave PJs in the city. The baristas are always super friendly, and although I try to limit my trips (lattes and cappuccinos add up!), I notice that they know who their regulars are and know their orders as soon as they walk through the door. The vibe is great; a lot of students from the local university come to this location to study and unwind. It's very homey, and I would love to go one day and just sit and people watch. I'm definitely not a coffee expert, so my knowledge on the quality should be ignored, but, in my HUMBLE opinion, I think the espresso drinks are way less bitter than other local coffee chains. My friend who lives in the area, too, disagrees, so again, take my opinion on that aspect with a grain of salt. However, if you're looking for a good atmosphere, patient and kind baristas, and am inexpensive cup of Joe...this should be your spot. read more

I've always liked this PJ's, but I haven't been in a while. I guess they decided to get a little lazy with their iced latte skills. Just ordered an iced vanilla latte, and instead of taking the time to make the espresso, fresh, I see the girl pull out a pitcher of what?, premade freaking espresso or something? She then proceeds to pour that into a measuring cup to make my drink... No no no. This is not how you make a latte. I think PJs is the bottom of the barrel in terms of New Orleans coffee shops. This location is the bottom of the bottom - the worst PJs around. From the weird lighting, half burned out at all times, to the awkward layout, to the cold case that seems to be constantly on the fritz. Come here only to prevent caffeine withdrawal. It is a shame that this is the closest coffee shop to UNO and SUNO. The students deserve better. read more

PJs is my favorite coffee in New Orleans probably my favorite coffee in the country. The coffee is exquisite it not to mention the southern flavors they offer for hot and iced coffee's. Granita's are their specialty and worth a try for sure. This PJs location in particular definitely needs a bit of a facelift. It's a great location near UNO and one of few coffee shops in the area. There is plenty of space to work inside. They offer free Wi-Fi for customers a great place to do some work or study. They definitely need to do a deep clean of the place it just looks a bit dirty. PJs is always five stars in my book but the actual atmosphere made me drop it down to a three. read more

I've been here about twice/month for the past 3 months or so and it is the same woman working there by herself. Each time I'm there, it's never busy, but I've noticed that it is in desperate need of a cleaning and it gets worse with each subsequent visit. The restroom is particularly bad, which is a huge deal for me personally. If I had to guess, I'd say that the woman there is the franchisee and housekeeping is low on the list of priorities. It's a shame because even though the neighborhood leaves much to be desired (it is the East after all), it's still a nice, quiet spot. I have no problems with the service or anything I've ordered, it just really stands out as very unclean which is unlike any other PJ's I've patronized. On my last visit there was a help wanted sign in the window. So hopefully it gets resolved quickly. read more

So, i do like the coffee here...not love, but like. It's convenient to my mom's house in New Orleans and the hours typically fit our needs. On this particular visit on 12/31/18, we stopped on our way out of town to get some coffee for the road and some flavored for work. We were served quickly but it seemed there was some confusion as to who was going to do what. One made the road drinks and one went to the back to grind the flavored coffee. She asked what grind to use and I told her that i wanted it a little finer than normal drip grind. This seemed to utterly confuse her and she made it sound as if there were only 3 settings: Turkish, drip and coarse. Finally, i asked her to just make it for drip and she proceeded to do it. When she came back, she got took our pastry order. She also went to the back to get the pastries and told us to just microwave them all for 45 seconds each. We microwaved them in the store and got on the road. As we unpacked our food we found that our food order was wrong. My coffee had about twice as much syrup as it needed and it was luke warm. My son and husband were satisfied with their drinks, but I was disappointed in the service and drink. The bag was even taped shut with the wire closure stuck sideways on the bag. It was a lot of small things, but added up to a sloppy encounter. read more

This is a franchise store, but the owner is always there and has great customer service. They don't appear to have any turnover, because I go here often, but the same employees are ALWAYS here. (that's good). Creamy cafe-au-lait, not too burnt like the national chains. THe cranberry-orange muffin is my favorite. I've been here over 200 times since they opened. The Iced Coffee is the best. They make some great frozen drinks including the Granita that's fantastic. Eats are average and they have a toaster and microwave for customer's use. The muffins are the best thing going for food here. The service is always quick and precise. First, the basics: Poor seating - I wasn't aloud to move a little table to attach it to another so that me and my colleague could look at each other's screen while we worked on school-work. Poor coffee - I had a latte that tasted like burnt popcorn with mildly warm milk. Poor environment - all you have to listen to is the obnoxious sounds from the coffee machines that might as well have been stolen from a dilapidated gas station somewhere well forgotten. This, along with the rest of this chain of sub-par coffee joints, is the epitome of excessive wastefulness in the modern age: Not only do they only have disposable cups, when I ordered cheesecake bites, each one was individually wrapped yet still the girl working put on a new set of disposable gloves to grab them and put them on a styrofoam plate.
