    Blueberry pancakes
    Chelsea N.

Enjoyed Sunday brunch at PJs this past weekend! We sat at the bar, and I had a good cinnamon maple whiskey sour. For my meal, I chose the special Mexi-Benny which was very flavorful and I loved the potato's it came with! My wife had the two-fer (eggs and pancakes) and raved about the blueberry pancakes.

A cozy little place packed with flavor and history. The menu, along with flavorful pancake choices, has robust breakfast options. The food was served hot and fresh. My only complaint is that the chai latte was not as tasty as others I have had in other restaurants. My friend got the hot chocolate and enjoyed it. The server was respectful and the wait time was expected for a Saturday brunch rush. I highly recommend this breakfast spot when in the area.

Every Thursday my husband and I take my mother in law out for brunch. The area she lives in is very limited for quality restaurants. Since PJ's is close to her house, we decided to stop here to eat. We were immediately seated inside at a large booth. With the exception of the hostess, staff members were wearing masks. It wasn't very crowded but a group of diners in the back were extremely loud, laughing and talking. Our server came and we ordered our meals. I got a bagel and lox with a side of fruit. I was disappointed that it came as a bagel sandwich because I would have much rather have done it myself. My husband got an egg sandwich on an English muffin. It was very small yet ample. My mother in law got the breakfast quesadilla and she said it was very good. Our entrees were priced from $13 -$16. A bit pricey for the amount of food we were given. Also, our server deemed it necessary to bring our bill and take out containers before we finished eating. As I said earlier, I'm never a happy camper eating at restaurants in this area. Given another situation, I'd spend my money some place else.

    PJ's "Two-Fer" Breakfast

The waitress asked me if I was still working on it...I said, "the work is done" *empty plate* LOL PJ's is one of the best in town for breakfast. The pancakes and eggs are perfect!! No lie, the fluffiest ever. If you're used to "diner food" and looking for that traditional taste, a low key "no need to get dressed up" spot to roll out of bed and go to this is it. The prices are very reasonable, so bring a friend or two! With free parking, good service, and fresh made to order plates it's a YAY from me, check it out!

PJ's Classic Omelet with tons of fresh veggies. So good!

PJS is our work's go-to place for lunch and always enjoyed everything I've got there. We usually get sandwiches and a plate of the pancakes to share because they can't be missed. It's perfect since they have a huge selection of pancakes, sandwiches, entrees and drinks. At the last lunch I got the chickpea sliders and I'm still thinking about them. They were crispy little chickpea patties with lettuce, tomato and a tangy yogurt sauce. This time we shared the Oreo pancakes that are fluffy with great flavor but not too sweet. Another time, I went by myself for a breakfast and had the pjs classic omelette. It was filled with tons of crisp veggies and just the right amount of feta. I loved it! I got the potatoes and toast with it. It was a lot of food so no room for pancakes this time. Service is always friendly and fast.

    Crabby Benny - Crab Benedict

Nice lunch - Crabby Benedict (Eggs Benedict with crab cakes) was ok. The food came out quickly, the plate was less than I expected to pay for any crab cake, and it was a nice satisfying lunch meal. As per the norm with Benedict, there were two crab cake patties that were definitely not of a jumbo lump variety which I prefer but tasty. The poached egg on top was perfect. The potato side was "ice cream scooped" onto the plate and mushy but I liked it. There was maybe too much hollandaise on the plate but I was able to scrap some of that off. There was also a generous serving of spinach and English muffins underneath each patty. There were plenty of TVs tuned to sporting events which kept me occupied while I waited for the food to appear. The service was good and friendly. Good place for a Wednesday work lunch.

We always do delivery so we called to straighten the issue out and have it delivered today and when we called the restaurant they told it's no one there speaks English. They can't help us. WHAAT?! Ok I left that so that you could see what my initial problem was, but I am extremely impressed with a quick response from Ricardo, who I believe is one of the owners and the help I got from the restaurant itself. And yes, I found several people that spoke English. And I'm so happy to be able to update this because the food is out of this world. But they did tell me that I have to order through DoorDash that I can't order for delivery through them so just note that And definitely stop by because this food is so outstanding that I don't believe there's any other Mexican restaurant that can touch this I lived in Arizona for five years and I found out what real Mexican food taste like and all the wonderful fresh ingredients they use like the American version of Chinese food. The American version of Mexican can be way way off and that's a shame because Mexican food is so healthy and so fresh when it's made by the right people that you can eat healthy and be extremely happy at the same time.

I didn't actually realize it was where I wanted to go until I was parking in front of it. As mentioned in other reviews, the dining space inside is small and very basic--which is fine. The portion of the store selling Mexican food staples is in the front as you enter, and the handful of dine-in tables are located at the back of the store between the store's aisles and the kitchen counter. What finally got me there to visit was that it was open for breakfast, and while a lot of places say they're open for breakfast, opening up at 9AM twice a week doesn't qualify. El Sabor Oaxaqueño 2 is open for breakfast most days at 6AM, because they serve people who are working their butts off and who need a good meal. The breakfasts at El Oaxaqueño 2 serve that need. My Chilaquiles Verde were spicy, but not super spicy, and it was served with rice and black beans. My carne asada was an addition as were my fried eggs. You can also get chicken breast (pechuga) or a red sauce if that's more your style. My wife's Huevos con Chorizo were very flavorful and very filling. They were also served with rice and black beans, along freshly made tortillas and a stick of cheese to crumble over your meal. She was only able to finish off half her plate, and we took home the rest. Our next visit was for dinner, and because I couldn't decide on what I wanted, we split three plates between us. First up was my Tacos de Tripa. I asked for the tripa (pork chitterlings, not tripe) to be well cooked so that it was crunchy, and they served them up just as I like them. They were topped with chopped onion and garlic, and once topped with the spicy green fresh salsa, we gobbled them down. The tortillas were freshly made and had a nice texture. The next dish was the chicken enchiladas en mole. Four enchiladas were well stuffed with white chicken meat then bathed in flavorful mole and served with rice and beans. Thankfully, it wasn't topped with a ridiculously huge glob of melted cheese. Last was the Quesadilla--not your Mama's quesadilla either. It was huge, and it wasn't as cheesy as the quesadillas the average person knows. Inside it was stuffed almost like a taco with big pieces of shrimp in one half and carne asada in the other. There was cheese, but cheese was not the star as it is in the average quesadilla we're all used to. It was good, and we both enjoyed it--it was just a surprise. The place is far from fancy, but they serve real food, and it's real good.

Service is friendly and efficient. Orders are made at the counter, or, dare you dare, via QR codes located at the table. Parking is limited, and because it's located between two one-way streets, it can be tricky coming in to or leaving. The Sopes at La Taqueria are a must to try. They're heavily ladened with tasty toppings, and I'd order them again in a heartbeat. The chorizo sope was especially good, and had enough chorizo on it to make two Sopes. Be forewarned that you will not have clean hands after eating them. On another visit I tried the fish tacos. Fish tacos at La Taqueria are the chopped/shredded variety rather than the deep fried filet version. The tortillas themselves were heated well, but were nothing special, nor was the flavor of the fish itself anything remarkable. I expected something more interesting from the place. On the flip side, I also tried a Taco de Tripa, asking for it to be cooked crisp (Tripa in Mexico is pork chitterling, not tripe) and it was very, very (feel free to insert more verys) good, and is definitely a taco I'll try again and again. During our most recent visit, we had the Enchiladas de Pollo en Mole, which brought four enchiladas in a deeply flavored mole with rice and beans. The mole was not sweet like so many other moles in other area restaurants, but was instead relying heavily on the flavors of the chiles. It was very tasty, and a nice change from the usual sweet moles. We also had an excellent Huarache de Lengua, a thick, oval tortilla ladened with beef tongue. I have a feeling my wife will be ordering it each time we return. In addition, we ordered a bowl of the Sopa de Panza y Pata, a soup with a spicy broth and loaded with cow's hooves and tripe. It was a meal in itself, and was also served with rice on the side along with some thick corn gorditas. I was torn between four and five stars here, and if the fish tacos hadn't been such a bust, they'd probably have gotten that fifth star. La Taqueria is definitely in the top tier of local Mexican/Guatemalan restaurants, and will be part of our regular rotation going forward.

Every single wall is painted or has some type of artisanal art work....plus can we talk about the GIANT HORSE in the middle of the restaurant! Alright now for the food, I would highly recommend getting the tacos Al pastor. They are some of the best tacos and come filled to the brim with delicious meat and pineapple.
