When our waiter did come 10 minutes or so after being seated, he was super polite and took our whole order. The drinks and food were delicious! Always a great time at PJ's. This location is spacious, has ample parking, and has a full bar! The service was good and the food remains great for a diner. Decently sized menu with several all day options. My favorite is the Mashed Brown side dish and the burgers are always good. The bacon, Mac& cheese burger was so good and big. The fries are the perfect amount of crispy. So many good options here. For the size, their bathroom situation is a little light - two gender neutral individual-use bathrooms. This is the kind of surprise I love.....we hadn't visited for a while and this was about 3:00 in the afternoon... of course we were dining all alone and we hoped it was only the off hour as we walked past a vinyl upholstered booth with the vinyl seats ripped up on both sides.... But like all great "little eating holes in the wall", the food and service were awesome .... Folks it was just plain yum yum yummy!!! Every Thursday my husband and I take my mother in law out for brunch. The area she lives in is very limited for quality restaurants. Since PJ's is close to her house, we decided to stop here to eat. We were immediately seated inside at a large booth. With the exception of the hostess, staff members were wearing masks. It wasn't very crowded but a group of diners in the back were extremely loud, laughing and talking. Our server came and we ordered our meals. I got a bagel and lox with a side of fruit. I was disappointed that it came as a bagel sandwich because I would have much rather have done it myself. My husband got an egg sandwich on an English muffin. It was very small yet ample. My mother in law got the breakfast quesadilla and she said it was very good. Our entrees were priced from $13 -$16. A bit pricey for the amount of food we were given. Also, our server deemed it necessary to bring our bill and take out containers before we finished eating. As I said earlier, I'm never a happy camper eating at restaurants in this area. PJS is our work's go-to place for lunch and always enjoyed everything I've got there. We usually get sandwiches and a plate of the pancakes to share because they can't be missed. It's perfect since they have a huge selection of pancakes, sandwiches, entrees and drinks. At the last lunch I got the chickpea sliders and I'm still thinking about them. They were crispy little chickpea patties with lettuce, tomato and a tangy yogurt sauce. This time we shared the Oreo pancakes that are fluffy with great flavor but not too sweet. Nice lunch - Crabby Benedict (Eggs Benedict with crab cakes) was ok. The food came out quickly, the plate was less than I expected to pay for any crab cake, and it was a nice satisfying lunch meal. As per the norm with Benedict, there were two crab cake patties that were definitely not of a jumbo lump variety which I prefer but tasty. The poached egg on top was perfect. The potato side was "ice cream scooped" onto the plate and mushy but I liked it. There was maybe too much hollandaise on the plate but I was able to scrap some of that off. There was also a generous serving of spinach and English muffins underneath each patty. There were plenty of TVs tuned to sporting events which kept me occupied while I waited for the food to appear. Went here during lunch time. There was plenty of space and seating to chose from. I was greeted by a friendly wait staff who was attentive throughout the entire service. The menu is pretty expensive so I would highly recommend to peak at the menu prior to coming to dine unless you have a lot of time on your hands. Ordered an egg white omelette which comes with potatoes and wheat bread however for an additional $2 you can sub for French toast and for $3 you can sub for 3 plate sized pancakes. I opted for the French toast which came out fluffy and well battered in egg. I can truly say it was some of the best French toast I've ever had. Moreover, the syrup that accompanied also was rich and tasty. The egg white omelette on the other hand was pretty bland. Although it was filled with peppers and mushrooms, it lacked flavor however to substitute it with salt and ketchup (my personal add-ons) didn't require too much work. Was extremely disappointed with this place. We see pj's all over the place & we were excited to go. We had a 15/20 min wait, which was fine. When we were called the host basically sprinted away and was half was across the restaurant by the time my boyfriend with crutches was even able to stand up. She had walked to a table all the way in the back and set the menus down. She seemingly was going to continue walking away without actually sitting us until I had spoke up and asked her if we could have a booth because my boyfriend cannot sit on the wooden chairs because he is recovering from hip surgery. She looked around and basically rolled her eyes as if I was requesting the most absurd thing. I eventually pointed to multiple open booths and asked if we could sit there and so she sat us there. The service was very very slow. We had a misunderstanding with our waiter where I ordered homefries with onions and they brought out French fries covered in onions. I'm not sure why he wouldn't have clarified that beforehand, seeing as that is an unusual combination. But I'm not upset over that, miscommunication happens. But then what was odd they kept trying to get us to have their hash browns (shredded potatoes) which was what we initially wanted but what they presented to us didn't look appetizing. It included green peppers, which I don't like and we told them multiple times that we didn't want to eat them and they kept being like "you sure?". Our food then took so long to come out and we only ordered one plate of food... the French toast tasted like it was cooked in old fryer grease... I spit out the first bite and could only take one more bite and was just so turned off because of the grease all over it and the smell and taste it left in my mouth. The eggs were good, the bacon good, the sausage was okay. We're just really disappointed overall, no part of the process went smoothly. How did I not know that PJ's Pancake House existed outside of Princeton? And more importantly so close to my home! Well, here it is in all its pancake glory. I will start by saying we only come here to get breakfast/brunch so perhaps the other areas are where it may lack - but in the breakfast they are king. We tend to do two big plates and share and stay full for pretty much the entire day. Our two favorite plates are the Mexican Hashishuka (? - the spelling is probably wrong), this is a skillet of amazingness. It is a bowl of nachos, meat, guacamole, salsa and let's just say you may not want to share. The second plate we always get is the pancake sampler. I recommend the sampler and pick three of your favorites to snack on. My personal favorites are the peanut butter and chocolate chip, the nutella and strawberry, and the walnut pancakes. The restaurant itself is very nice, warm and seems like a good place to even come for happy hour. The only reason I do not give a full 5 stars is because the prices are a bit steep. Plain old coffee is $3, which hurt a bit since my Starbucks coffee doesn't even cost that much, and that I can take home with me. Also they will not sell you just one pancake, my son is one and I wanted to add a single pancake to our sampler and they wouldn't allow it. I had to order a short stack which was another $6 (and then way too many pancakes, which do not reheat well). Other than that, I really do enjoy PJ's as a treat here and there. read more

Similar menu to other locations with an added bonus of alcohol. Neither one of us ordered pancakes bc we weren't in the mood for them. I know ironic. Lol. Prices are reasonable alot of food. So I ordered smothered burger with swiss, onions and mushrooms, and of course bacon. Coffee did suck..I also ordered onion rings which were EPIC. My friend ordered a Jersey burger, which btw doesnt come with a difibulator lol.. she also ordered a side of beer cheese for burger which we were dipping everything in, including onion rings. They definitely have to put that with them as a side, great combo. Lol. Next time I promise I will order pancakes since my friend lives close to this place. I will be back. We've been going to PJs in Ewing since it opened several years ago, and we went there for breakfast recently. The waitress was friendly and the service was good. My rye toast was thick and very nice, the fruit I ordered on the side was fresh and flavorful, and my husband's pancakes were great as always. However, our western omelettes were way below par especially considering how expensive our meals were. Far too much chopped peppers and ham with eggs as an almost non existent afterthought rather than the main ingredient. It was like whoever made it had no clue how to make an omelette. Very odd and disappointing. The waitress pointed out that their menu prices will be going down 25% in October, which is a good thing. My god what a breakfast! Everything was tip top delicious, especially on a cold and rainy Sunday morning. There was a bit of a wait outside, but if people are willing to wait in the rain for breakfast food, you know it's gonna be good. The standouts: the fried grits (two triangles of lightly fried insanely delicious cheesy gooey grits), the corned beef hash, and ofc the pancakes. We also had the Mexican hash dish and the other hash dish- both good, but not as incredibly memorable as the sides. The egg sando with sausage was tasty and possibly even better reheated in the oven the next day. Go and get those grits! read more

PJ's Pancake House & Tavern is located on Bear Tavern Road in Ewing, NJ. It is north of Rt. 95 in a bucolic part of the township. If you have been around for a while, they renovated the old joint formerly known as The Silo Restaurant. The house is western style, with wooden tables, chairs floor and a back room bar big enough for a large party. Gonna have to sell a lot of mimosas to make that work well for morning meal. Still, the place is very attractive, even if I was there just for breakfast. I wanted a short stack of french toast, but that was not available. Three slices or tough luck. I ordered it, and waited for my first mugga joe. Service was friendly and there were plenty of servers on hand to handle the light customer presence at 8:30 am. The plate arrived with its cargo of well grilled and caramelized light loaf. The kitchen did a good job with the egg, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla mix, which saturated the bread to its core. The edges and rises were nicely crunchified, and the application of butter and syrup made everything look terrific. The taste was very good, and even though I had asked for two slices, I found room for all three. The coffee was also strong, hot and kicky. This was a superior breakfast. I did find the $15 cost for my solitary breakfast to be excessive. Nearly $3 for the java, even if unlimited, caught me off guard. How much could I drink? Two mugs at most. $9 for the FT also felt like an extravagance which I am unlikely to repeat often. They would do well to offer a more affordable choice (short stack) if they want to bring in the masses. I know PJ's is expanding rapidly right now, and just opened its fourth store in Kingston, NJ, but unless they want to be the hangout for only the rich and famous, they should find a few smaller/cheaper options. read more
