I came to PJ's for dinner while in Savannah. My last visit here, I stumbled on PJs and loved it so much so I knew I wanted to come back. We were sat and it was quite a busy night. We started with a large Thai iced tea, veggie spring rolls, and the veggie pad Thai with tofu. The iced tea was pretty good, it was tasty and strong. The pad Thai was also quite good. The noodles were a lot thinner than my usual pad Thai experiences and the portion was a bit smaller than last time but still very good flavor. For dessert we decided to go for the mango sticky rice. Very good, actually. Only thing unpleasant was the warm eating area, which forced us outside, where we fought flies all meal long. I'm not usually big on appetizers, but the Thai basil rolls, the chicken satay, the dumplings, and spring rolls all are so amazing, especially paired with their secret peanut sauce. Apologies to those with peanut allergies who will never experience this magic sauce. For entrees I've tried the Bangkok chicken, the pad kee mao, and the yellow curry. All of these are so deeply flavorful and satisfying. To cap it off I always finish with some bubble tea. Very nice clean flavors. This place is small but big on flavor. If I lived here it would be my favorite Asian restaurant. I am gluten intolerant so had to be careful what I chose. I was happy to be able to have an appetizer of basil spring roll which is made with a rice wrapper and served with a tasty "I could eat the whole thing myself" warm peanut sauce. If I wasn't on vacation I would of asked if they sold it by the containers-like a pint. I had a red Thai tea to drink. It was delicious. We sat outside so the drink was served in a to go plastic cup which I was thankful for as I knew I would not be able to finish it at the restaurant. My husband ordered the massaman curry which he has had in FL and WI and said this was one of the best. I was hungry for meat so ordered the fried rice for 2 knowing I had takeout coming with probably two more meals off of it. It included scallops, shrimp and chicken. The flavors were excellent and the meats cooked perfectly. I also ordered the sticky rice and mango to go. We left stuffed and looking forward to our leftovers. We walked here from Jones Street and noticed that the old cemetery we had previously seen on a trolly ride was adjacent to the restaurant. We decided to take a stroll through it on our way back to our carriage house. When we returned home I am embarrassed to say that I finished my fried rice. Normally I would have gotten at least three meals out of it but it was so good with clean flavors and so fresh that I couldn't stop eating it. I reheated my sticky rice which was served up in a cute heart shape with a coconut sauce to pour over it. I offered up a taste to my husband and then proceeded to finish it off before he could ask for more. I'm not good with sharing my food. Next time we return to Savannah this will certainly be one of our to go to places to eat. read more

My husband and I love Thai. We walked by this place several times during our stay and noticed them growing their own basil. We decided to try them and I am so glad we did. This is a true small business with a "mom and pop" vibe. I had the Larb Gai which was fresh and flavorful which was welcomed after the heavy seafood dinners. My husband had Basil Crispy Pork (Bellies). He said it was just right spicy, with small Crispy bits and a perfect portion of onions/peppers/basil to mix with jasmine rice. I love when a bookmarked business and an out of town guest's interests collide! PJ's Thai has been on my radar for a very long time. When I do go out to enjoy Thai food, I find that I never venture away from the Pad Thai, no matter how hard I try. Our group started with edamame and dumplings. Both were popular at our table, but definitely not the main show. I didn't know they offer boba here, so a couple of us had to try the Thai Tea with Boba. We were promised it wouldn't be overly sweet, like some places have a tendency to do, and that promise was delivered. One dinner member had the Thai Pink drink. This essentially is best described as a Strawberry milk tea. They also have a Thai Green drink, which tastes like a honeydew milk tea. So far, so good. Like I mentioned before, I stuck with the Pad Thai with chicken. Good solid choice! It did not disappoint and was one of the top two I have had - the other being at Papaya Thai in Pooler. My husband, not a Thai food seeker, always supports every dinner outing because he is flexible and willing to try something new. Thanks to the photos on Yelp, it made his decision a little bit easier! He picked the Kao Pad Sapparhod. This dish is rice sautéed with egg, yellow curry powder, pineapple, garlic, onions, cashew nuts and tomato, and he chose chicken. I only had a chance to try a bite - and it was good - before I noticed he inhaled it. He went out of his food comfort zone and loved it! Our friend also had a rice dish with tofu. Her plate was also empty the next moment I looked over. PJ's Thai is very accommodating to vegetarians, and can be vegan friendly too. I would not give this place a single star if I could. There are two reasons for my rating, horrible service and horrible food. About the service, we were handed 2 menus at 5:45 P.M , one was regular and another was happy hour menu. For reference: happy hour is from 4:30 - 6:00P.M. here. The waiter said he will show up in 1 minute which he didn't and ended up at our table at 6:00 P.M. so the first thing I ordered was veggie spring roll from happy hour menu and he said sorry I can't honor this because happy hour ends at 6:00 but it was 06:00 then. It's not my fault that he decided to show up at our table after 15 mins and also gave us the happy hour menu to order from. I was completely upset at this point with the restaurant and the kind of service they provide. If this was any less of off putting behavior, he took our orders but didn't ask what spice level we prefer. So I had to call him again to ask him about the default spice level for the dishes. I decided to choose 4 for my drunken noodle based on one of the yelp reviews mentioning 5 to be not spicy at all. When the food came, my drunken noodles didn't have tofu in it which I asked for and it had tons of red pepper and just that with no taste. The massaman curry we ordered ended up being horrible quality that my husband was feeling puky after that, the fried rice we ordered was the only thing which was edible on the table but the taste was not the greatest there as well. Never coming back.. stay away from this place is what I would recommend fellow yelpers. read more

Pj's menu had all the Thai staples from appetizers to salads, curries, noodle and rice dishes as well as some house specials without being too big of a menu. I started with their Thai tea and vegetarian eggrolls, for my lunch I ordered the pad kee mao to share with my son. My friend was unsure what she wanted to drink so they brought her a sample of the Thai tea to make sure she'd like it which was so sweet of them. For her lunch she went with their special Bangkok chicken and rice. Food was excellent and service was just as good- fast, efficient and friendly.
