The hostess got us in quickly and the wait staff was friendly. I ordered the chicken fried chicken (with potatoes, collard greens, and sausage gravy). The breading on the chicken was near flawless. It had the perfect crunch which held up well to the gravy. Amazing! Not crowded. Sat in the courtyard. Greeted by the owner at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. It's kinda tucked away but in the middle of everything. Avoids the touristy madness. Everything had layers of flavor. Take a bite of anything, close your eyes and pay attention to the layers. Genuinely constructed. Great hospitality. Amazing food. I enjoy food, and it's very rare that I give a restaurant a 10 out of 10. The food here was amazing. The breakfast burritos were on point. Biscuits and gravy was the best biscuit and gravy I've ever had. The corned beef and cabbage was delightful. The service was top-notch. Our server was very attentive. We came to the Roosevelt Room for brunch yesterday on Memorial Day and it was great! We waited about 20 minutes to be seated shortly after it opened. We sat at the bar and our server was excellent. All of these high reviewers must not get out much. I hate to be so negative, but wow... things could have gone better. With all the fuss about this restaurant we were happy to only have a 30 minute wait for a party of four. After we were sat, reviewed the menu, and ordered- our food took over 35 minutes to arrive. During this time our waitress checked on us once. Not that we needed anything, but they were not crazy busy and it is only breakfast food. Seemed a little excessive. I had the Croque Madame and it was very good. Everything else our party ordered was below average. My wife had their eggs Benedict special, it was cooked ok but lacked flavor and the pork was quite tough. My brother had an omelette with cheese and bacon, his cheese was not even melted. My sister-in-law had the corned beef from the waitresses suggestion and it was pretty horrible. We had a couple waffles on the side and they didn't have the right texture and lacked flavor. Not to mention the only thing hot on any of our plates were the potatoes. It was a pretty big letdown and other than the lovely atmosphere, there weren't many redeeming qualities. With so many other great restaurants, who has time to give a sub performer a second chance? To those about to dine, do yourself a favor and skip the blowsevelt room! read more

My mom and I agreed that the coffee was delicious. I got a brisket with eggs, avocado, tomatoes, and cilantro. I declined the Texas toast and pepper Jack cheese that would normally come on it. The brisket was tender and the flavors meshed so well together. My mom got the eggs Benedict. Instead of ham they used a pork tenderloin and put some asparagus on top of the eggs and hollandaise sauce. Breakfast with coffee will run you about $20, but I think it was worth it. The food is ABSOLUTELY amazing!! I had the espresso which was yummy, I was bummed they were out of the sugar sticks but that's okay. I also got the tomato soup with chunks of grilled cheese, omg that was delish. As my main dish I had the fried chicken biscuit and lobster gravy with an egg. Every bite was blissful! Now when you enter this establishment, the atmosphere takes you back to old new Orleans. The drinks were cold and fresh and food was hot and fresh. It took 15 minutes to bring water and then another 5 for our drink order. Once drink and food are ordered is comes out fast and fresh, the between time takes 15-30 minutes for each order. We were there 70 minutes and could have just been there 30 minutes. Just too many people standing around talking and not helping the servers. The food was delicious. They offer out of the ordinary breakfast selections. I ordered the omelette with zucchini, tomato, and onion. It was topped with tzatziki and feta which was full of flavor. I also had a side salad that was simple yet so good. My sister had the brisket rancheros which was a twist on regular huevos rancheros that we are familiar with. It was made with Texas toast instead of tortillas and obviously had brisket on top of it. We had the mimosa special which was strawberry kiwi. It is definitely a different vibe from Prohibition Kitchen, which helps create a unique experience. The service is great. They are very friendly here. Extensive menu items help ensure there is something for everyone to eat. The coffee is serviceable. Not a standout by any means, but you'll get your caffeine fix with some decent flavor. I had an omelette with mushrooms, onions, and avocado. It was delicious. The omelette was prepared perfectly. They have a lot of vegetables, meats, and cheeses to choose from, so if you like omelettes you cannot go wrong here. For my sides, I swapped the potatoes for cheese grits and added a biscuit. They were both fantastic. The grits had great flavor and texture. The biscuit was made very well. Fluffy and light interior and a crunchy exterior with bite to it. A memorable biscuit for sure. All in, I highly recommend Roosevelt Room. If there is a line (there usually is), it is definitely worth the wait. read more

Weird experience. Breakfast time. The server seemed to be in a rush and although she had a smile on her face you could tell was fake. I strongly believe she judged us by the way we were dressed (comfy clothes to walk around all days, sneakers, jeans, T-shirts) since she seemed more attentive to tables where people were dressed fancier. Made us feel out of place. Had the shrimp and grits, it was really good. My husband and kids had sandwiches and those were ok. The menu is very limited, there's not many options. The place is small and noisy, and it does not feel upscale as it tries to be. I ordered the French toast: I was in a sweet mood and the caramel brûlée flavor was There complete with the fruit compote... yummm and he got a made to order omelette- there's a separate menu for them so you can get all your favorite fixings and choose if 2 or 3 eggs. Why do they give you a choice? Just pig out people: you're on vacation!! Lol Mimosas were delish by the glass, and then we got a candied bacon appetizer- quite good although served cold, and with a mustard sauce that actually tasted good when slightly dipped onto the bacon! Overall a fun experience, tables were still very spaced out but at the breakfast "bar" people were chatty and friendly and traveling from all around the country, quite fun to share favorite stops around the city!
