Four stars for one of the employees at the taqueria. Two stars for the food. We were visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area where there are many excellent taquerias. It was like they intentionally made my food bad. From the moment I walked in I was treated like an unwelcomed guest. The menu was split between smaller cheaper options like street tacos, or you could spend $10-$12 on something more. Not many mid range choices to get full without spending a lot. I thanked the lady behind the counter who countered my humble smile with a stern scowl. I'm still unsure what part of the chicken I was eating. I think if they don't like how you look, or something they just put the end pieces in your order. I have no reason to give it even the 1 star, or to ever bother going back. I was looking forward to eating here for a while. Totally disappointing. :-( read more

This place is a great find in Eugene. I was living in town last year, originally from Los Angeles, and could not find decent Mexican food to save my life. Plaza Latina isn't the best, but it IS the best in Eugene. Fresh tortillas and ingredients, plus you can do some grocery shopping, and get your watch fixed all in the same place! Ate here for the first time, and had the Heuvo con Chorizo burrito. It was delicious! I definitely recommend this place!

I prepare a lot of ethnic foods and Plaza always has that one herb, spice or condiment I can't find anywhere else in town. The Deli is good, too! Also, if you want to explore one of the best over the counter meat cases in town, Plaza is where you should go. Bottom line 5 stars. read more

I have gone to this grocery several times as I have recently moved to the area. At first I really enjoyed their to-go burritos and have bought small things for Mexican style dinners at home. However, in the past few months I have bought bad produce. All the avocados I have purchased were over ripe to the point where I had to throw 2/3 of it away. I purchased strawberries one weekend morning in hopes of putting them on top of pancakes for breakfast and got home to find there was mold all over the bottom of the package. When I went to return them, the manager on duty was reluctant to return them....Really? Most recently though, tonight I went with my boyfriend to get burritos and a couple 22oz of beer for a quick relaxing dinner. I saw they had a "sale" on Hop Valley's alpha centaun for 2.59 and was stoked. When I got to the register, they rang up a dollar more and the cashier talked to the manager about the price difference. I followed the manager to where the tag was and after she proceeded to lie to me about the price realized the tag was incorrect, but refused to honor the price posted. After the mold experience I should have stopped shopping there, however, after the events of this evening, I am never shopping there again! Despite their friendly cashiers and workers, Management is rude, liars, and don't care about their customers. This is not how you run a business. It seems that in the beginnings of this grocery store, it was a great place, but honestly even their to go food is borderline disgusting these days. read more

Good place for grocery shopping. One highlight used to be the homemade tortillas, but they have stopped doing that now. The only place in the Eugene/Springfield area to get fresh tortillas is at Metete over in Springfield. Would have gotten 5 stars if they still made tortillas! read more

I love this place because it saved me from swearing off Mexican food in Eugene forever. The salsa verde is super cheap ($2.00 for a little tub), and it's wonderfully spicy. It almost makes me homesick for Colorado--it's that good. Their homemade tortillas and chips are also a real find. The produce can be hit or miss, but they carry a variety of spices for low prices. It's a great place to do your grocery shopping. read more

Awesome authentic Mexican food. The little restaurant in the back has awesome carnitas, too bad it is only served on the weekends! They make fresh corn tortillas on Tues, Thurs and Sat, they are the best. Their salsa's are excellent. Great little market to pick up spices you don't find in the regular stores. read more

Plaza Latina has the best $4 burritos in town. Especially on weekends when you can get their carnitas. I think they changed the recipe for their green sauce recently, but it's still my favorite salsa. If you like Plaza Latina check out Naya's Taqueria, which I just found last week and can't wait to go back. read more

Right when my bf and I stepped in we were followed. Employee pretended to fix candy down the aisle we were down until we selected our candy. When we were done the employee ran to her register and forced us down their register when we were down someone else's line. She rang us up and over charged us for 3 items. This place was on our way from the airport to Lincoln City (right by the 5 Frwy). We stopped in for a quick bite and we were very impressed by how clean it was. The food was made fresh to order and authentic. They had a great variety of international foods in the market section and their fresh fruit looked good. Prices were very reasonable. Lived in the hood for 5 years and this is by far one of the best places to shop for Latin flavors. The carniceria is amazing, authentic, and extensive. You can also get your platanos, lemons, limes, cilan, nopalito, etc. here. They are always blasting some sweet Latin beats which makes the shopping fun. Prices are absolutely reasonable. In fact I go here to buy certain items that are irrationally overpriced elsewhere. I also enjoy the Middle Eastern foods and wish that they would seriously consider opening a restaurant offering gourmet Middle Eastern dishes. I have to wait until I make a trip to Portland to get delicious Middle Eastern food. Sure, you can get a falafel, gyro, kabob or kafta somewhere in town, which are simply mediocre offerings. Anyway, I encourage readers to visit PL. I am sure you will find something that suits your taste....and please, while you're in the hood, avoid Albertson's. read more
