The reviews seem to show a trend.. And yes, I was also treated poorly on 2 occasions ( which happened to be slow days as well ) however, on 2 separate occasions the service was at least decent. It's a neighborhood spot with a long history.. And hey.. I'm a big boy, not gonna cry too much about someone's bad day or hopefully occasional poor CS at a dive spot such as this. Maple Valley is really lacking mom and pop bars and restaurants. The Pla-Mor deserves a spot higher on this list. It has a really good burger and my friend had a Ruben that he really enjoyed. We've been coming to the Pla-Mor for over 30 years. I know they recently changed new ownership and so we thought we'd give it a try. The food was mediocre at best. The service was cold and unfriendly. The menu has changed quite a bit and it reflects in the prices. Not great. They did decide to keep the Wing Ding and we were told that it's the same as it has always been. We plan to go back and try it. If it hasn't changed, we'd probably come in just for that. If it's anything less than the original Wing Ding, we won't be back. Change happens and that's to be expected, however it no longer has that friendly local feel. So sad to see that happen. read more

This bar has been here forever. Generally when I make it by it is Monday for Prime Rib. With inflation prices have changed over the years. Still one of the best deals around and awesome food. We have lived just down the street from the Pla-Mor for the past 4+ years and driven past many times but never stopped to check it out. I had heard about this place from a few of our neighbors that had been there and loved the food especially the burgers. The only caveat they mentioned was to emphasize that it is a true dive bar in every sense of the word. A few months ago we had some of our old friends visiting from Florida who saw this place and asked us about it. . That said we decided to try it and went for lunch. We were not disappointed as the place was exactly as described as is truly a classic dive bar in every sense of the word and we loved it. The service was good and the food was great included the cold beer on tap. The burgers are really the best to be found around here and we're absolutely amazingly delicious. I was really impressed and pleasantly surprised. Our out of town guests also loved this place and were very glad that we went. This place is close enough to walk to from our house on a nice day and definitely be back and put the Pla-Mor on list regular list of restaurants and bars. We have been back a few times since our first visit and have never been disappointed. Also love the down and dirty dive bar atmosphere which I sure has not changed since the place was first opened in 1966. They should not change a thing as this place is a hidden gem as true neighborhood dive bar which really works well. Need to carry on this great tradition and it will continue to be a success. I live close by and can walk to the Play Mor so it's convenient to have drinks here. It's not much to look at but I kinda like that. However, the food is great! Fast too. This is a great place to watch football all the patrons are friendly and remind me of Cheers! Not kidding lol, very cool. I have had hit and miss service as far as the bartenders go. But, I think it gets better the more you go in there. I get a lot of food to go from there and it's always been good. Had the worse time. Service was terrible, the drinks where watered down, when we complained the bartender asked us to leave.

The food is always excellent as well as the drinks.Always wondered why there are always new waitresses there. Well I told a friend to come down as they had an opening, she quit shortly after words. When I ran into her I asked why they said she quit, I am in a couple times a week, she said she did not get any tips from her tables, it all goes to the bartenders. She said the bartenders get about $500 a night in tips on a slow night and she gets a small percentage of food sales per shift (about $30) and every where else she has ever worked the tips are split or they are given sections and get the tips from there section. She was even pouring the beers. She said she has never seen anyone do tips like that. She said the bartenders stand behind the bar and she does all the work but gets nothing., even if they leave cash on the table. It's hard to write a negative review of my favorite tavern but after Saturday I just can't write a positive one. To wit, my wife and I went there on Saturday nite and, as usual, the place was packed. My wife ordered a glass of wine and I a Bud Lite. The wine came in a small urine sample bottlette and, when poured, only comprised a half a glass. The beer came flat but, since I have just cut my consumption to a minimum, I let it go. We ordered our favorite cheeseburgers and proceeded to wait for about 45 minutes. I looked into the kitchen and saw that the cook was a frazzled wreck because it was steak night and he was overwhelmed. My burger, when it came, was overcooked and tasteless - the bun was crispy on the bottom which I have never had before and the meat was on the edge of being shoe leather. My wife's was not any better except that her bun wasn't crispy. My experience here in the past has been that the burger wasn't eaten unless I had 3 or 4 napkins to catch the deliciousness of the juice running down my chin and hands but, on Saturday, this was not the case. I think the patties are no longer hand-formed (as advertised) and they are using Fred Meyer as their purveyor of ready-made ones. Too bad. Not going back. read more

Seriously hillbilly. My husband and I are out-of-staters. We drove through Mt Rainier today and stopped to grab a burger. They accepted my ID (ND), but not his MN ID. We were told we couldn't stay, despite ordering waters and wanting food, and the kitchen closed 45 minutes ago. When I asked to look at the server's ID guide I was told, "I don't have to show you anything." (True.) the manager came over and explained they do not accept out of state IDs. When I asked "why was my ND ID accepted?" I was told "Because you're over 30." (I'm 27.) When I told her my age, she responded "I don't know your age." We were told we would not be served because they don't accept out of state IDs, and because they believed his MN ID to be fake due to a lack of hologram on the id (mn standard. When he presented a tribal ID - with a hologram - the server said "I don't know what that is" and threw the card on the table). Totally rude and unhelpful. read more
