So glad my Director introduced me to this spot. Our corporate office is only 20 minutes away and totally worth the drive. There were so many awesome things to choose from. Soups, salads, sandwiches, all the sides. It was hard to choose. After much debating I went with a roast beef melt, side salad with Italian dressing as well as Chinese coleslaw. The bread on the melt was so fluffy, yet warm and crispy. Roast beef had awesome flavor. I don't believe there was any cheese on it. I LOVE cheese but I didn't even miss it....nor the calories. The horseradish was fresh and added that spicy kick to the sandwich. They added that to the side so I could apply myself. The au jus...you can tell they make this stuff in house. The salad was a salad but it was so fresh and a good size. I was almost full from the salad and half a piece of the melt. But NO, what did I do? I preceded to eat the remainder of the sandwich!! It was that good!! I couldn't eat the second side so I took it home. I poured the dressing on top in the to go container because I knew the cabbage would hold up and boy did it ever! The dressing was really good! This Chinese coleslaw reminds me of Chinese chicken salad minus the chicken . All in all I will be back. I can't wait to try their chicken salad. They prepare it two ways....a creamy chicken salad and then one with walnuts and grapes. I'm all about the creamy people! Will update as soon as I try that as well. A lovely neighborhood spot right off the square. Doesn't look like much and clearly a local spot. But the food is good and they have a nice variety. Despite the recent price increases (who hasn't had one?) still a bargain. Main course, 2 sides and a drink (tea,lemonade) for one price. The variety of sides is impressive too. read more

They catered our wedding and was getting nothing but complements from the food. Also a great place for lunch off the square. Fresh food and great service. Everything is homemade, not canned like other some restaurants. Plus, no charge for tea or lemonade when you buy lunch. Love this place. read more

With all of the salads that are offered up here, you might think that you have stepped into a Ladies tea, which is about as southern as you can get. Chicken salad every which way you can think of as well as several pasta salads and a multitude of other choices! Cozy little joint that is located right off the square that epidemizes small town America. Great place for lunch! read more

I was traveling for work to Covington and went here for lunch one day. I ordered the special which was creamy chicken salad and I picked for the sides the seasonal fruit and the Greek salad. All of it was really good. I had the chicken salad as a panini with Swiss cheese and it was toasted just enough to have that crispy outside but soft inside. Unfortunately I live in Arizona so I won't be able to stop in here until I travel to Georgia again but when I do I'll definitely try to stop in here again. read more

as a vegetarian, I really enjoy their pimento cheese sandwich. They have lots of sides & breads to choose from. You end up getting a large amount of food for the $7-$8 you spend on the combo meal.(sandwich, 2 sides, drink, & don't forget the complimentary peanuts!) I recently attended a wedding that was catered by this establishment. I along with 90+ people got very sick and some were hospitalized (er and actual hospital stays) including my week old newborn. It landed us 37 hours in Scottish Rite with numerous scans and a spinal tap. I am from Covington and have been to this place several times. I always support local businesses on and around the square but this is unacceptable! Something needs to happen! Since the event that I attended there has been at least one more and now there are more hospitalized. All with the same diagnosis of Salmonella. I truly hope that something is done about this as our situation could have been a lot worse. read more

These people are plain nuts, lol. But you have to be to be in the catering business, right? They are open for lunch and also cater events. The service isn't great. But lunch here? Best in the square. A bit pricey, but the tomato bisque is good and so are the salads. I've had the reuben and sonetimes it's good and sometimes not. The place is always packed and you'll typically see just about every higher up government guy and gal here on a weekday lunch break. The murals on the wall are awful and it usually looks like they need someone bussing tables full time, but I don't go for the ambience. read more

We've gone to lunch here several times this month. Jim Williamson is very friendly and walks over and talks to customers. I have enjoyed everything I've had. All his soups are great. I had the chicken sausage gumbo today. It was delicious. My husband had the broccoli cheese soup. I love the hamburgers, best I've had anywhere. It's true... they make everything by SCRATCH! And it's soooo good! Can't beat it anywhere else in town, or Atlanta for that matter. I feel good about eating FRESH food made when you order. The only thing better is conversations with the loyal customers that eat there daily. I highly recommend you get there early, as Plain Nuts tends to pack out fast around lunch time.
