This used to be one of my favorite places to go in Simsbury. It has really gone down hill and I can not recommend it any longer. I arrived on a Sunday night at 6:00 pm to find one hostess running around seating people and clearing tables while 2 others standing in the back playing with their hair and chatting away. My daughter orders her regular food, Shepard's pie, and the middle is ice cold. After going through my wife's dairy allergy I order her a pretzel burger to go. I get home and find cheese on it. It's really not that hard. Super disappointed and they have forever lost my trust, at least in Simsbury. Time to find a new restaurant. read more

OMFG.. My husband (a CT native) has been raving about this place since his last solo visit home a year ago... All he could talk about when planning out our trip was... PLAN B, "THE NEW ENGLANDER!" "BABE! IT HAS LOBSTER!!!" So we flew in and on our second day, we made our way out to Simsbury, where my FIL's girlfriend lives. (Sidenote: Simsbury is beautiful. Its well worth the drive through just to see all the colonial houses in their Sunday best. Seriously, CT keeps their sh*t cleeeean. I love it....and being from the south, the supposed home of hospitality, I can tell you that is false. CTicans were way friendlier than any southern natives I've ever encountered.) When we pulled up, I was immediately impressed. The area where Plan B is all historic and done-up nicely. The actual building (I think) is an old railroad station. Whatever, who cares. I ordered my 3 shrooms burger (not a huge mushroom fanatic but every now and then...I get a hankering.) and parmesan fries. The boys (my husband and FIL) got the New Englander, my FIL's gf got the Westerner and my SIL got the Rodeo.. ALL WERE AMAZEBALLS! Like off the chart, AMAZEBALLS. I'm a slow eater and I couldn't eat it fast enough. The beer selection was pretty decent. NE is the place for craft beer so I was not disappointed. Also we shared the B-cup and the Funnibone and I didn't think we would be able to top this meal for the rest of our trip. It was awesome. read more

I've been here on 3 occasions and all of them have been sub-par. But this last time I feel I have to write a review. I ordered a Baja Burger from take out, got there a little early and found my order waiting for me. I got home (5min drive) and found the burger cold, fries cold, and the burger smashed in half (I'm guessing this is from the chef or whoever was on the grill to check and see if the burger was done, I ordered no pink), nothing on the burger looked fresh, the avocado had black spots on it, the lettuce was stale, the tomatoes were disgusting, the jalapenos were old and crusted, and the meat looked and tasted awful. I've had McDonald's that was fresher and better tasting than this. Will never eat here again! read more

I love Plan B! Their burgers are delicious and they always have different variations. It's not just their burgers that a re great though. They always have interesting craft beers on taps. Their mac and cheese with caramelized onions is to die for. Their baked brie is also a great way to start a meal. Be prepared to eat and drink a ton when you go! read more

Any place the puts a dish of pickles on your table when you walk in is a win in my book. The service was a little slow despite the place not appearing overly busy ( my first water refill came after the meal). The food was great. Blue chips and buffalo cauliflower appetizers were excellent. My 3 shrooms burger was juicy and flavorful. Kids lived the sliders and mac n cheese. read more

We went here after out mini tour of Simsbury, CT on our quest to climb a mountain. And climb a mountain we did! So much so that we were straving and needed something to eat. And fast. In comes Plan B Burger Bar. Really a cute location, an old train station with some puck looking decorations. However the atmosphere was pleasant and service and attentive even though the place was pretty full. I ordered the salmon burger with "normal" fries (the fancy fries and other names scared me! Sorry!) it was all really good! However I would urge people thinking about eating here to only get burgers. My father got the fish and Chips and honesty, they weren't really good. The fish was just straight up fried with a side of tartar sauce. His fries were good but how can you mess that up? Plan B is great. Their burgers are so good and they have several different combinations and kinds of burgers. It's interesting the name is Plan B because I feel like we always end up there when we don't know what we want or if the place we wanted to get reservations is booked. While it may end up being our Plan B, my husband and I are never disappointed. The Bourbons they have are great as is their choices of beer! How can you go wrong? read more

I would like to say that the managers at this location are horrible and rude and argue with you when something is wrong with your food the general manager whose name I got the last time I was in there (Nancy) was actually drunk at the bar at the place that she is suppose to be in charge of does not seem very professional to me and goes to show you that the owners of this place must not care about the managers embarrassing the brand that they built. Food is good... Shepherds pie was enjoyable and like their drink menu... Service is a struggle... I've been there twice and both times the waiter was very inattentive, spent a lot of time talking with the other waitstaff. It used to be good here. Appetizer of lobster sliders were dry, no butter not even Mayo. Onion rings were over seasoned with pepper, not mentioned on the menu. Burgers ordered medium rare, pink, were close to well done. Hand-cut fries got cold real fast. Side of kale was more like a side of Brussels sprouts. We tried four different beers, one tasted like bad water was used or the tap lines were not cleaned. Service was good read more

What an unexpected and wonderful surprise when I walked into this restaurant and bar. It was really upscale in the interior design. Immediately I was greeted by Tom and he was the bartender/waiter since it was later at night. I loved the beer selection on draft. Even the late night menu for dining had more than enough delicious choices. I had the veggie burger and it was terrific! The sweet potato fries were slender and well done also. Best burger in town, perhaps best in NE. I bring the family to Plan B almost every week and it's always a hit! The burgers are superb, lightly pressed, cooked just right, and flavor like an $85 tenderloin. Menu choices are awesome, I like the Baja but beware it is hot, and have had all the others. The West coast is cool for a change with a fried egg on top. Beer selection is great but honestly I think they are falling behind their own standard of having the best selection possible. I think this may be related to Plan B's success and growth being more difficult to source truly small craft beers to supply all locations. I'd like to see them tap something like Crop or Alchemist from VT. Despite this, I still give Plan B a big thumbs up since their tap remains the best in town. I also want to say the Simsbury location is my favorite. I've been to all but Fairfield and DC. The old Simsbury rail station is so cool and friendly. read more

I've never felt the urge to write a review until I went here for dinner : By far the worst service and just mediocre food I have ever encountered out to eat.... I walked in wasn't greeted until about 3 minutes of standing there as two workers gossiped to each other ignoring us. Then got asked "how many " with no hello or anything, got told "okay that will be 15 minutes" and since there is no where to stand we had to stand right in the doorway/entrance. Got seated our waitress was Tanya, the person I was with got a beer that had 70% foam that he had to scrape off. Needed more time with the menu but she wasn't happy about that, when placing our order she rudely rushed us and had attitude about everything we said. I got soup before my meal and it was COLD! I mean like room temperature cold, then we got our meals (which they gave the wrong sides to us) and our buns were completely soggy, as if they had been sitting there for a while. Our waitress didn't even deliver the soup or our food to our table, the kitchen helpers did. She never even came over to see how we were doing and see if we needed anything. I had to grab her attention when she was helping another table to ask for some dressing, and she put a huge stink up about it. Saying" there's already dressing on it" I said no there is not, so after about 10 minutes she finally brought me some dressing to which I was already done with my meal about 15 mins before this. And then had the nerve to say " is that enough dressing for you?" While taking another tables order! I've never felt so uncomfortable and pissed off going out to eat then I did here at Plan B, most unsatisfying dinner experience of my life. I have been here before and it was fine, but this time, I did not have such a great experience. I ordered my burger "pink" or medium. It came out medium rare, more on the rare side. When the waitress came back, I asked her if "rare" was the restaurants version of "pink". I was polite and I never complained, I just wanted to know how to order for next time. They told me that "medium has pockets of pink" whatever that means. I just know that when I bit into it, parts of the "medium" that I was expecting were delicious, while the "pockets of pink" that I bit into were raw, and not "medium " at all. They took my burger off the bill, which I certainly did not expect, and I do appreciate. I did not however, expect to have to argue with how to explain the proper temperature of a medium burger. What they don't know, is that being a really good cook, I know how to achieve this, and my medium doesn't involve "pockets of pink". read more

Stopped by for the first time late on a Friday afternoon. Great atmosphere and decor. Good menu choices and lots of draft beers to pick from. My wife and I both had the blue cheese burger with bacon as an adder. Both our burgers were excellent. We had finished our first beer and our waitress had not been by the table for a while. My wife turned around to look for her and by the time she had turned back around to face the table the manager was at her side asking if he could help us! Within minutes we had our second beer on the table. After we had finished the manager stopped by to see how the meal was. The waitress could have paid a little more attention to her tables but the manager jumped in and made up for any delay in service. Great atmosphere, great burgers, and cold beers....We'll definitely go back when we're in town. read more

I've been to Plan B many times, but tonight was an off night for the waitress and the cook. We had Traditional (pink) and Baja (no pink) burgers. The Baja was way more pink than the other and the fries were cold. The menu read avocado slices, but we got a big chunk instead. The waitress checked on our meal when it was first delivered and never came to the table after that until she came with the bill. Not busy when we were there. I can only chalk it up to a bad day. Never saw the manager, but he should watch what's coming out of the kitchen. read more

I like Plan B in Simsbury quite a bit. The location is cool although space inside is at a minimum. The burgers are good but I like the turkey club the best. The wings and tenders are very tasty. And they have tater tots!! read more
