I've recently joined Planet Fitness after years with other local facilities. I have been working out consistently for over 40 years with a great knowledge of physical fitness. I am amazed at the value that you receive at the Maple Rd. location. You get a huge selection of all sorts of aerobic and anaerobic equipment, and for a small upgrade in your membership you also receive: message chairs/beds, hot and cold therapy, tanning and other perks. I recently went in for a workout to find additional equipment being installed which impressed me because facilities are making due with older, broken down equipment while PF is upgrading theirs. I am writing this review as someone who is not easily impressed but also as someone who is very fair when it comes comes to both negative and positive reviewing. This was the first Planet Fitness location I visited and the overall experience was very positive. The location is set up as a huge rectangle, with a whole bunch of treadmills set up in the middle and weight machines and equipment towards the walls. They have really high ceilings and the place is pretty well ventilated. There are also mirrors set up all along one side of the wall as well. The restroom/washrooms here are decently clean, but I did see some stalls that needed immediate attention in the women's restroom. :( The staff here is super nice and friendly too, which made the visit more positive. The only down side about the place was they didn't really have enough "free space" to put down a yoga mat and stretch or anything. Other than that, was good. :) read more

I made a long search to find the right gym in town, and i landed here. To make sure this is the right gym for me, I requested a free trial of the facilities and they gave me 3 days of free access!! The location is in the heart of Amherst, close to everything. The front of the gym is all glass with high sealing that makes the space airy and filled with natural light. The facilities are updated, always nice and clean, smells good with plenty of lockers, showers and changing rooms. the equipments are almost new and well maintained, huge variety of machines, lifting equipments and 2 circuit exercise stations that are very helpful if you don't have much time or you don't know how to exercise, personal TVs on every treadmill and bigger TVs on the longer wall of the gym that you can watch from every angle, also you can connect your headphones to the TVs for a full experience, the overhead music is a bit low volume for me and i wish it was a bit louder. The staff are super nice and helpful, the trainer's schedule is very reasonable where it alternates from morning to late afternoons and nights to cover the schedule of everyone, with a lot of room to book classes with him or one on one time included in the price of the membership. Deion (the trainer) is the best, he is knowledgable, always fun to work out with, with a lot of experience where he tailors the exercise to fit your needs and physical limitations when present. Their prices are unbeatable, my membership is 10$/ month and the yearly membership i believe was 35$ which is cheaper than many many places in town. The VIP membership was around 21$/month and it includes free tanning beds and spray tan, massage water bed and massage chair. Leaving the best for last, the atmosphere is anti-intimidation, anti-judgment and comfortable to be at regardless if you are there to loose weight, stay fit or train for the heavy lifting championship. Gym itself is fantastic. Staff is friendly, floor and equipment is clean, locker rooms are large. Only downside is there is NEVER WiFi. IF you are one of the lucky ones able to connect, you are guaranteed to be disconnected within a few minutes. And I hope you don't try to use Netflix or pandora, because the WiFi is so slow that it won't even load. The WiFi is the only complaint I have, but it makes a huge difference and I really wish this facility would get it together. I've been here for almost 2 years and it has never improved. Being able to listen to my own radio or watch a show while running is important to me and I know to many others as well. read more

The only time I've ever encountered a problem with this location, was with Joesph. It's unfortunately happened with him on a few different occasions. He's extremely rude and should not be doing anything involving customer service. Every other employee has gone above and beyond to make my experience pleasant. Ive been a loyal customer for going on 4 years. I'm now considering changing gyms solely so I don't have to deal with someone so miserable at the front desk. Planet Fitness definitely lives up to it's motto of being "Judgment Free"! I have been a member for about three years, and I've always felt comfortable going there, especially the Maple location! The facilities are always clean, the staff is friendly, and I never feel like anyone is watching or judging my workout! I'm not going to lie, the fact that the gym offers Pizza Mondays is hilarious, but it also saves me time and worry when it comes to what I'm having for dinner! Plus, I factor the pizza into my workout so I actually push myself even harder! It is also family friendly, so if you have kids (who are 13+) you can bring them with you (I recommend the Black Card Membership, that's what I use when I bring my kids)! Plant fitness has most, if not all of the basic needs for anyone to work out. I joined this area gym after moving and the hours work very well for me because I have a hectic schedule with attending college and working - plus a little time with family and friends. By far the cleanest planet fitness I have ever been to. Employees are constantly cleaning the equipment and tidying up. Locker rooms are always immaculate. Staff are also very friendly. It's usually very busy between 5-7pm during weekdays because people come after work - but I never have an issue finding available equipment. My biggest pet peeve at the gym is when people occupy equipment that they aren't using (to talk to friends,etc). Luckily this rarely happens at this gym!! This gym has a very relaxed atmosphere and none of that grunting/weight slamming seen at other gyms. If you're looking for a place to workout I would definitely recommend coming here. They even have a personal trainer available throughout the week for personalized sessions! read more

I decided to sign back up for the gym so I went with Planet fitness this time. So far everything has been great! The facility is so clean; every time I'm there I always see staff cleaning the machines and the locker is always spotless. Deion the trainer is awesome! He is very personably, and knowledgeable about the machines and the type of routines needed for your particular goal. His services are included with the membership so that's a added bonus. Aside for Deon all of the staff is very helpful and friendly. The hydro massage beds and massage chairs is like the icing on the cake after a good workout. I would recommend planet fitness to anyone looking for a small gym with impeccable service and friendly staff. read more

This location is a nice facility. However for the past three years I have been going here they have a chronic issue of being closed at random. It occurs around once a month especially since I workout early. The owner should feel ashamed for their lack of accountability when their employees call in sick or are unable to get to work. Don't be surprised when you show up and the lights are not on! read more

I love coming to the gym here (when I can motivate myself to get my butt out of bed). They have every machine that I could possibly need, plus extras for black card members like tanning and hydro massage. I don't usually use the extra perks, but I think it's worth having a black card since you can also go to any planet fitness and bring a guest. It's always clean, a good breezy temperature, and the locker rooms look new and nice. The only pain is having to wipe down machines every time you use them. I believe most gyms require you do this, but I wonder if they could just hire someone to do it because it gets tedious when you like to hop from machine to machine. read more

It's a well equipped gym and the price is great at $20.00 a month. I went for the black card membership plan because of the extras like massage chairs, tanning, red room and hydrotherapy beds. I go in late morning or early afternoon and it's never jammed or busy. They have 2 circuit training setups as well. Plenty of free weight and machines too. Staff is friendly, gym is clean, locker room is clean. For the price you can't go wrong. read more

When a gym is supposed to be open, they should be open. Pretty fundamental to operating a business. 50 of us got tuned away at 830-915am on a regular (non-holiday) Saturday because no one showed up for work. I'll pay more to not waste my time. read more

Good gym but WiFi is pathetic! Barely 20 people and wifi barely is usable for music

i checked this gym out just to see what some alternatives were. It seemed nice enough and was exceptionally clean. As far as this whole "judgment free zone" thing (I can only comment on my personal experiences from the past): I have worked out at quite a few gyms in my time, and I never once was put in to a compromised position as to where I was made to feel uncomfortable. I am not the most fit or muscular guy in the world, not even close to it, but I realize as a mature adult that it is my responsibility to keep my envy and insecurities in check and use said personal inhibitions to better myself. Gyms have annoying idiots as members, I get it, but if you are just as or more concerned with that then bettering yourself then perhaps it is you with the problem. Regardless, it seemed like a nice enough gym, but I still plan to stay where I am after my visit. read more

Do not waste your time signing up for this gym . Very hard to get in contact with . Constantly trying to up sell you to the more exclusive membership and almost never takes no for an answer . Monthly cost is great but wish there was a pool and sauna. Not too much to ask for a gym at $20 a month. Staff is always changing but never had an issue with any of my concerns. Hopefully in the years to come they would remodel and add those amenities read more

Today was my fist time in trying to work out at this location, since I recently moved from NYC. What a disappointment!! My husband and I arrived to the facility at around 7:07 am, mind you they were supposed to be open by 7:00 am. There were already five individuals waiting for the gym to be opened. Little did we know that we were going to be sitting in the car for while. After 20 minutes and thinking maybe the worker is running late, we called another planet fitness who said the manage has been informed on this manner and some one should be arriving within a half hour.. It's not really messy where you have to wait for machines or wait for your turns ( at least for evening shift). I would wish if Planet Fitness provide trainer services for professional training. read more

I'd give it no stars if that were possible. I had to leave the club because my daughter got cancer and I'm her caretaker. I was told I could come in anytime to cancel. I came in on the 14th of the month because we were at Roswell Park constantly; this was before the payment due date for the following month. They STILL dipped in and took my payment though I canceled ahead of time. My phone call to the manager FGS resulted in some rapid-fire BS about an electronic contract stating that I had to come in before the 10th to avoid additional charges. Well everyone I know has time and temperament to go searching the internet for an electronic document to make sure they can re-arrange their schedule to accommodate this date. My daughter shouldn't have gotten cancer so that I could come in and cancel on their preferred date. The point is, there was no humanity in this transaction.
