I joined this gym the beginning of this year. This place is clean.. during the day. Depending on who's working day shift it gets cleaned every 20-30 minutes. I've been coming in at 2 am and I noticed.. depending who works that the place is dirty, paper towels on the floor next to equipments or on top. Water bottles laying on the floor as well. When it comes to the free weights, they are never re racked as a matter of fact, no of the weights are put back. They are laying around and it gets frustrating when looking for certain weights around the gym. I have brought it up to a staff member and she did apologize for the unpleasant experience. She did confirm it is their job to re rack the weights and have the place clean. read more

I'm 2 min from canceling membership here. Got membership here because of proximity. It was fine before summer but then boom. Summer has been horrible. Kids enter for free is a glorified child care center with no control. Kids sit on machines talking for 10-20 min at a time. I mean taking up 3-4 machines at a time. No parents around to regulate them. Staff doesn't walk around to ensure the kids are not just taking up space. God forbid you come during the week after 5. No way you'll get a workout in here. COOL GYM: I went for a couple of hours around noon on a weekday. The gym was clean, the locker room was clean, it was not crowded, people were wiping the machines after use, and there was plenty of equipment to access. You should bring your own gym towels, toiletries, and tissue. I also used the gym showers, and I appreciated that there were private changing stalls across from the showers. Since the beginning of summer this gym has gone downhill and fast. The trash cans are routinely overflowing, the restrooms are dirty and the gym equipment ( dumbbells, weight plates benches), attachments for cable machines) are almosr never where they're supposed to be. Great gym, but the staff is lazy and the manager was rude. I had a really bad experience trying to cancel my membership. I canceled in person at the gym, but for some reason it wasn't processed. When I found out I was still being charged, I had to call the manager. At first he didn't want to help, but after I explained it was their mistake, he finally canceled it. He had a terrible attitude and said that I "should be grateful" he was even doing it. He still refused to remove the charges, which was really frustrating. read more

This gym is the worst when it comes to customer service. Although kept clean it's probably because they deny everyone who legit has a membership or guest. Today October 29, 2024 Diana the front desk denied me because my boyfriend who has me on his guest list with my own barcode has denied me to come in workout and better myself. So I'm switching gyms and I was checking out locations to decide on my home-gym. I went to the BP location and had a great experience with the tour then I went to El Monte....I'll detail from beginning to end. You can decide if this person working there needs to chill or if you would have been 100% ok with the situation. First off, I am a woman. I walked into PF El Monte. Went directly to the front desk and informed them I had previously been to this location but it had been a while, years maybe, and I wanted to get a tour to see what they had. The guy who was maybe 30yrs and younger, Hispanic and lots of acne, immediately asked for my ID. So, since I had just gone to BP and they didn't ask for ID, I asked him what he needed my ID for. It was literally just a question since the experience was different elsewhere literally moments before. He said he needed it to enter my information into the iPad. I informed him, I could enter it myself since I had literally just done that at BP location and I didn't mind. He flipped the iPad towards me and he stepped in front of his computer. His tone then changed into an aggressive one 100%. (In my head I'm thinking) It is basic stuff, no one should be IDd just to enter your name, number and email with some authorization check marks, basic stuff. He THEN said I could enter my information but he still needed my ID in order to give me a tour and then he would "run my name" to make sure I didn't have any other accounts. Ermmmm ok???? Like what? So I told him I didn't need an tour then, I just needed to know if they had certain equipment. I named a few machines I personally planned to use, and the only ones that actually mattered to me and HE DID NOT ANSWER. He said AFTER I gave him my ID and he gave me a tour he would show me. I really didn't care where he was going with this plot, because in the end he was being difficult and aggressive for no reason. All that attitude, all these presumptive conclusions about me and I had no clue what was up his derriere. So I stopped engaging, I deleted my info from the iPad as he's giving sass, I put my hand down and he flipped the iPad towards him and when he saw that it was blank, he OF COURSE did some super exaggerated facial and bodily expression and then I told him "I'm good, it's ok" and I turned around to walk away. I glanced at the girl to his left, my right, and she was just starring at us and at the interaction with her mouth slightly agasp. I'm not sure if she was used to his behavior, maybe even convinced he did a great job handling that situation or if she was shocked at her coworkers audacity. I am very very very sure that that man at the front desk feels superior for whatever reason, maybe even on a whole power trip. At the end of the day, he's just an employee there and he wasn't doing anything except standing there when I walked in. Giving someone a tour should not be a combo package with a background check, colonoscopy and a whole load of unnecessary sass. No I don't have another membership with PF since I've been a member elsewhere for the last 4 years and I'm not even sure what his end goal was with that comment. Like yes, I want to have multiple accounts opened with PF to be giving them money even though I'm just 1 person. Please, he needs to stop. I am also very sure that if I was a man, that would not have gone down like that. Nobody that looks like that dude would even dare talk to a man that way. There was no need for attitude, no need for aggression, no need to assume I am looking to open multiple accounts, no need for any of that man's behavior. Someone above him needs to talk to him about his power trip. He literally works at a gym, maybe y'all need to install some punching bags for that "man". So unfortunately, I don't know if they have the equipment i need, I don't know if it's clean, I can't give any useful information besides... parking is weird & the front desk guy is power tripping rude. Was my neighborhood gym. Excellent facility. Lots of equipment, well maintained, cleaned frequently, and cleaned after every usage. I moved to California about a year into the pandemic. This gym continue to have broken shower heads but they refuse to get it fixed! There is one shower without a shower head for around two months already. How can this problem continue without the staff noticing??!! They have 2 water fountains that have been broken for weeks with zero alternatives for water while people are working out. Multiple machines are broken or make loud noises and when you tell the staff, nothing gets done. I come here because it's the most convenient but the amenities are so terrible that I'm not sure what we are paying for. read more

The gym is spacious and has plenty of machines available even on their peak hour. What I like is that ever goes and does their thing. I haven't noticed ppl trying to show off or walk around all cocky. Parking can be a little crammed if it's a busy time. Especially because it shares the parking wIth other business. You can always park towards the back side but I personally don't like to since it's dark and empty. The staff is ok. They'll greet and say bye at times. It's fairly clean. There are 3 regular showers and a handicap shower. There are changing rooms available and of course bathroom stalls. The thing thatt bothers me is that the hooks for the showers are broken in all except one. Those are really needed to hang out towel. Not sure why those are not being replaced or fixed. They sell combination locks for the lockers in case you need one for $6. Options: $10 a month - I think this one is best. $22 a month - Here is where I was deceived when I first called to get information on signing up. I wasn't told that there is a limit to the gyms I can go to. Apparently they are grouped by location. So when you sign up in a city you can only go unlimited to the gyms in the area/within the group. If you go outside the area then you can only go a specific amount of times (ex: 5 times in a month). Also when you take a guest they need to have an ID with them in order to go in. That's a pain. I tried taking my niece who is in High School. They asked for an ID. I left. I'm actually going to cancel the black card and get the $10 a month instead. Honesty is the best policy in my opinion, and I am sorry to say that the Planet Fitness at this location did not deliver. I came here to cancel my membership as I was not comfortable exercising in their gym, and was extremely frustrated that Planet Fitness charged their monthly fee one day after opening. They did not give at least a week notice or a buffer "cancelation" time, so every member was immediately charged whether they like it or not. I was already annoyed that they charged the monthly fee when they closed their gym in April 2020. I actually spoke to the staff, and they said it would roll over to when their gym opened-- but you know what, that was a lie because they opened in March 2021 and charged me immediately when they opened. It did not roll over like they said... I appreciate the new staff member that I spoke to that efficiently cancelled my gym membership, and was nice to explain the process for me. I'm rating my experience a one stars because the new staff was nice. However, the lack of honestly was disappointing. Mainly when I tried to speak to the manager, and he wasn't available since he was on lunch break (understandable, I was willing to wait). I wanted to see if I could get a refund for the charge in April 2020. The new staff member said he spoke to the manager, and they were willing to refund me. However, that was a lie-- 3 months later and no refund. I wish they were honest and said, no we aren't refunding people. I would be disappointed but at least they were honest about it. The fact that they said they were going to do it, but not deliver is even more depressing! read more

I've been going to a competing gym since high school where one can visit 24 hours a day. After enduring various annoyances at that establishment over the decades that have ensued-- trashed bathrooms, perpetually unracked plates, broken weight machines, dangerous night time conditions in the parking structure, and long wait times for treadmills occupied by people walking 1.0 miles per hour wearing jeans and penny loafers, I finally had an incident with another patron who, in what can only be described as a roided-out unprovoked attack, threatened to kick my donkey for "staring at him." Flattered, I'm sure, but that was the last straw. I set out to find a new gym, and at the suggestion of a friend, visited this Planet Fitness location. Imagine my eager mirth to find three long rows of well-kept and largely unoccupied treadmills, plenty of machines in good working order, bathroom stalls that weren't littered with garbage, and in fact were spotlessly clean. For $10/month, I can visit this club as often as I like, 24 hours a day (and I'm one of those vampires who usually gets here around 11:30 PM), never wait for machines, or enjoy the 30 minute work out area that keeps you working through a whole body circuit. If you're a free weights afficianado, this is not your gym; only a small section of the floor has dumbbell racks and some free weights for the squat machines. No pool, no overcrowded Power Yoga classes here featuring overpoweringly loud and haunting Enya tunes... just plenty of purple powder coat painted machines with clear explanations of how they work. As advertised, there are no oiled-up lunks here, and unlike my last gym, I haven't seen anyone in skin-tight Lycra outfits and full make-up trolling for dates.... just people who have lives outside the gym and apparently want to improve their health in realistic and steady ways. The atmosphere really exudes their marketing of "judgment free," with folks of all shapes and sizes getting their work outs on. I'm not training for a Mr. Universe competition, and I don't have an Ironman scheduled anytime soon. This place is no-nonsense, honest, and genuine. For the price of two Starbucks drinks, you can work out here for a month. Glad to have found this gym, and make it a part of my active lifestyle of hiking, cycling, and keeping up with my three kids. If you're looking for a gym that doesn't have a whole front end store selling string tanks and butt floss, seven kinds of whey powder and pupil constricting preworkouts, and or ornithine/creatine/glutamine stacks, and just want a place to sweat and do some resistance training, check this one out. read more

This gym was closed the 25th and 26th for equipment upgrades. Went back yesterday and all they did was remove the whole row of Arc trainer machines. This is ridiculous. They replaced it with stretching equipment just to fill space. Why would you get rid of all of them? WHY DONT YOU LEAVE a few for those of us that use it. PLEASE BRING THEM BACK. Clean spacious gym in a small strip mall. I was pleasantly surprised. No complaints here. Parking was easy. Employees were nice. The gym was clean. Employees were constantly cleaning the floor and equipment while I was there. Patrons also cleaned up after themselves. As for equipment, there were numerous cardio machines and a decent amount of weight machines. Everything was branded with the PF logo and in good working order. The wait for weight machines was minimal. The gym layout was typical for PF with areas divided into 360 area, abs and legs, 30 minute workout area, black card member area, etc. Everything was spaced out well so you don't feel cramped. We're all busy. You have to make it a priority. PF is a franchise fitness club. It's great place to burn calories and stay fit. Membership price is very affordable compared to other fitness clubs. This PF is located in a midsize plaza and is very spacious, clean, has more weights, well lit and well organized. No Critics. No Judgements. Just hard work. Parking is somewhat smaller compared to other PF location. Overall, I recommend this gym if you want to get in shape and live a healthy lifestyle. read more

Been going to this gym since last year. It's alright. It's a gym and it's a cheap one. For 10 a month and an annual 40? It truly isn't bad for the price. I try to come in around 7ish (it always ends up being a little later since it's incredibly hard for me to get up in the morning), but even at 9am, the crowd isn't too bad. The staff is nice and friendly. I personally think one of them has a great smile. Gym etiquette varies a bit but that's just what happens when membership is cheap. So my advice if you're interested in going to this gym is to go early when people like me are still asleep. Seriously, like it's really nice when there's not a lot of people and you almost never have to wait for machines to open up. Anyways, I'll be trying my best to wake up early and get there by 7am from now on, so maybe I'll see you there too? Haha, this is more of a gym buddy request than a review now isn't it? Oh, I almost forgot. The music is kinda mid lol. Bring your own headphones. I suggest the moondrop starfields (it's wired so buy accordingly) and if iems aren't your thing, then I can't recommend anything else because headphone pads and sweat are ALWAYS a bad combo. You probably know what will had happened next. Maritza pointed at the glass and asked for ID or use App. I asked if my phone number will work or if they can borrow the charger for few minutes. Fine. No help from her. I asked her name because her hair was covering over the name tag. She refused either show me or answer me... Had a very frustrating day. Scheduled a new member orientation appointment im alhambra PF. Fought traffic on the 10 fwy to get there 10mim before my appointment only to be told the trainer called off "sick ". Couldn't they have made a courtesy call to let me know appointment will be canceled? I didn't want that time to be wasted . Frustrated with the lack of communication I called El Monte PF to see if maybe they could accommodate me. The staf was very polite and professional. I was scheduled an appointment and told to come on in and I would be helped. I met with trainer Jairo who was very professional and knowledgeable. He answered my questions, made a work out plan for me and even offered me a work out session. That's what I call professional and great customer service. Thank you El Monte PF. For being a black card member of Planet Fitness I'm able to go to any Planet Fitness Establishment and I think this Planet Fitness is by far one of the best ones. The staff keeps the this establishment quite clean and the paper towels and spray bottles around, they vacuum quite often, and ensure that the equipment is clean. This Planet Fitness is a lot smaller than the other Planet Fitness, which you can tell from the reduced number of cardio machines. They still have the 30 Minutes workout area but they do not have the abs circuit. Despite being a smaller gym, they have a huge parking lot and it's next to the freeway. read more

I've been paying for my brother's membership for almost a year. He hasn't been going for the past few months so I made the decision to cancel the contract. I am sooo glad I called a week ago! Richard was so helpful and after I told him I wanted to cancel the membership, he politely asked me to come in ASAP so I wouldn't have to pay the annual fee! I was only a few days away from them automatically taking out the annual fee!! I came in the next day and I was already aware of the $58 cancelation fee. Initially, I was really skeptical and kind of afraid to cancel because I did some research and every person made it sound impossible to cancel! This was not the case at all. I just had to come in, show my ID and pay the cancelation fee. It was super easy and I didn't expect it to be that way at all!
