This planet fitness is your typical planet fitness - nothing's fancy. Perfect for getting into and out of the gym quickly and not being bothered by anyone. Their memberships and costs vary so can't speak to that. The staff here is decent - there is definitely better staff other places though. They offer tanning beds hydration beds and luxury chairs as one of their memberships. The place has just been remodeled too which is a plus. read more

I joined in August and i cancelled my membership after two months. Not very clean, staff is always chit chatting or on their phones constantly, I could have walked right passed them and just walked in and worked out without a membership, that's how much they pay attention. Honestly, It's a nasty location, not very clean. I have joined another PF and it's a way better location and less issues. If you are a planet fitness member and go to Gates, choose another location, you are better off! Plus, Gates is not the same place anymore, alot more crime there! read more

I have been a black card member at Planet Fitness in Gates for the last three years. The facility is clean and well equipped. The staff is friendly professional and helpful. The most important part of this organization, in my opinion, is personalized training. Romar Watts is an amazing trainer he is a selfless caring professional who puts all of his effort and attention on his clients. Planet Fitness is a very basic gym for a very moderate price. There is no pool or sauna, no aerobics classes, no basketball or racquetball courts, and only a very small stretching area. The hours are good, though I do wish they were open 24 hours like some other gyms that I have been to. At peak hours, such as after work in the evenings, it can get fairly crowded and I often have to wait for equipment while someone else is doing multiple sets or playing on their phone. UPDATE: After being a member here for 3 years I had to end my membership. The locker room is now the size of a large walk-in closet and there are no showers or even a water fountain for members to get a drink! It's not even worth the $10 a month to come here anymore. read more

I am new to working out and this place has everything I need and more! There is so much cardio to choose from and my most favorite part is the abs and stretching area! It's so spacious and well-equipped. This gym is perfect for anyone looking to start their fitness journey! The trainer is amazing also, I meet with him 2x a week and he is so great at timing and making sure I get a good workout in in the short time we have! My teenage child was repeatedly told that they had no adult authority for them to attend gym. So membership was cancelled. PF continues to charge our account. This is how they offer low deals by scamming clients who try to leave. Have found out from other students that this had happened to them too. read more

Really kinda ticked that the websites all say this Planet Fitness is open 24 hrs Mon through Thurs. this is why I chose this gym. Then my first night I get told it is closed halfway through my workout. It's 11 pm. Definitely not a great way to start. Otherwise it's just a plain, no thrills, kinda place. read more

After 2 years at Planet Fitness, I've canceled my membership. I've noticed that broken machines can take a few weeks to fix. The gym is getting more and more crowded - this could still be the New Year Resolution Crowd but it was hard to get a treadmill at all times of the day/ evening. I stopped in a few weeks ago to see that the personal TVs had been removed from half the treadmills and there was no info about whether new ones were being added or if there was a further update coming. Instead, receivers had been added so you could try and watch the TVs that are hanging further away. I posted a question on the gym's facebook page and got a canned corporate response. So, for $10 a month, for a basic membership, it's hard to beat. But, sometimes you do get what you pay for. If I had no other options, I'd certainly return. And with some general updates and maintenance, it would be a better experience. After 2 years as a member, when I stopped in to cancel, no one asked why or sent out a survey or anything. I am happy there was no haggling or convincing me to stay but the lack of info seeking about a member's experiences says something as well. So, if you are on a tight budget, check out PF for sure. read more

Background: I'm a black card member so I've been to a few PFs whatever one is closest to where my job is that day I usually lift at. So I know what I'm paying for when attending an affordable gym like Planet fitness. This may have been my least liked planet fitness yet, just seems dirty and not well kept. All the machines seem older and not as smooth as other planet fitness locations. This maybe normal wear and tear but it seems like here there is just less upkeep on everything. Benches aren't sturdy, cables aren't as smooth as they once were, treadmills also seem to be due for some loving attention. Other than that it's pretty much as basic a planet fitness as they get, nothing special. So for that I say if you live close by and just need a basic blah gym then this ones for you. read more

Place seems to just get worse and worse. The fans on the ceiling don't even span the whole building, so doing cardio in some spots is roughhhh. The paper towel/cleaning liquid/garbage can stations out on the floor for cleaning machines keep disappearing. They used to be, conveniently, all around. Then they'd break, and I guess they don't care to replace them?? There's way less now. You have to walk all around the gym, hoping to find a station that's actually stocked with supplies (a lot of times the few there aren't even). I've noticed this has caused a lot of people to not even bother cleaning the machines! Not only that, but once again their open hours have deceased. Years ago most locations were 24/7. This one WAS 24 hours Monday-Thursday at least when I rejoined this year, which still wasn't great. Now suddenly it isn't open 24 hours AT ALL, not any days, only til 11 mon-thurs! Plus theyre closing two hours earlier on Saturdays now too. Starting to wonder if PF is going bankrupt or something. All that, combined with the fact that machines will be 'out of order' for months.. Can they not afford to fix/replace things? Is it cheapness? I don't know ‍ For $10/month it's still worth it to me. But if things keep going downhill like they are, I might need to find a pricier gym I guess. read more

I am very disappointed at the Planet Fitness in Gates. I have not been in there all summer and it appears it is just going down. Staff not friendly and many standing behind the counter. I was there last evening to find 4 treadmills not working, which after cleaning each of them before starting was an inconvenience. No signs saying "out of order". I could hear a woman next to me angry as well as she tried to get on yet another piece of equipment that was not working. I went to several paper towel stations to find no paper towels. I have been to many Planet Fitness around the US that are very very nice. This location is horrible! read more

I've been a member of PF for 20 months. I think for the price it's a good value if your only interested in strength training or use of cardio machines. For the most part the gym is clean and equipment is in very good condition. All of these thoughts were pre COVID. Like many other gym goers I was anticipating the reopening of the gym. I was a bit apprehensive about coming back and needed to be reassured that the gym was clean, and that both the staff and members are expected to clean machines both before and after use. Well today I entered the gym in Gates for my first time since there reopening. This is what I experienced: 1. All 5 PF staff members Including the manager were behind the front desk the entire time I was there (75 min). They were More interested in talking to each other than "working the floor" and mingling with members. 2. A few members were not wearing their masks correctly, exposing their nose. 3. Not one staff member walked around the gym to monitor members behaviors, or attempt to wipe anything down or correct members behaviors. 4. I was there for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and NOT one PF staff member cleaned anything! 5. I observed a couple members not wiping down machines after use, this the reason PF staff need to monitor members behaviors and clean behind members ( get out from behind the damn desk and do your job!) All things touched need to be cleaned (bars, handles, knobs, seats, seat backs, adjustment handles, etc. ) 6. NO additional cleaning spray bottles are at the cleaning stations, only have 2 at each station. If members are to help keep equipment clean both before and after use, it requires more trips back and forth to the cleaning stations. Maybe have additional cleaning stations around the club, the number of cleaning stations hasn't changed since pre COVID. Why? This is my beef, if I can't trust PF staff to clean behind members, I don't feel safe, and if I don't feel safe I will be canceling my BLACK CARD membership. Although I am writing this review for the Gates Club location, almost the exact experience was witnessed at both Penfield Club and the New Location in Brockport. Wake up PF staff! This is a real pandemic and if your members don't feel safe, then you missed your opportunity to do what is expected; and if this is not corrected quickly, I will most likely be canceling and I'm sure others will follow. I will give you a couple more visits before making my decision. I hope you do the right thing! read more

I have a membership to Planet Fitness, and work out at the Gates Club. The Pros: If you are a poor 20-something, this place gives you great bang for your buck. $10 for a monthly, basic membership to use the equipment. $20 for a Black Card membership. Black Card Memberships allow you to bring a guest an unlimited amount of times. Instead of visiting just your "home club" you can use any of the Planet Fitness facilities at any franchise location. Tanning beds are available with the black card membership, and can be used by the black card member holder once per visit, but tanning isn't allowed for their guests. Black membership allows 1/2 off of drinks in the coolers. They are open 24 hours from Monday at 12:00 AM until Friday at 9:00 PM Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM There are a lot of machines, and I never have trouble getting on one, even if they are busy. It isn't too busy during the day, but picks up around 5pm-9pm. For the most part, the gym is pretty clean. I take showers after my workouts in the locker room and the showers are very clean, as well as the equipment. The Cons: This isn't a gym that has a pool or any kind of group exercise classes. If this is what you are into, look elsewhere. There is very little space to stretch/do core training for your workout. They only have one small mat that can fill up quickly. I recommend wiping it down before using it with their supplies because not everyone is courteous. If you come during the peak hours there are a lot of meat heads there, and girls that wear a lot of makeup with tight yoga pants pretending to work out (we all know you are there just to check people out and tan). If I had more money I would like to go to a posh gym that offered classes and had a sauna to sit in afterwards, but due to economic and distance-wise convenience, this is where I get my swell on for now. read more

I've never been much for going to the gym and working out, but I've been wanting to get into better shape lately, and my girlfriend convinced me to come along with her one day. I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in for the first time. The space is big and bright, and the staff are friendly. I've been going to Planet Fitness for about a month now, and it is clear to see that they foster a welcoming atmosphere. This is a gym that wants its members to feel comfortable and enjoy their time getting into better shape. The facility has all the usual machines: arms and legs, weights, cycling and elliptical machines and treadmills. It's a good place to go if you're new to the whole gym scene (like I was) or you just want someplace inviting to work out. The memberships are very reasonable. The basic membership is $10/month, and that gets you access to the gym equipment 7 days a week, but the black membership is $20/month and that allows you to bring a guest an unlimited number of times, plus it gives you access to their tanning beds. I would not suggest Planet Fitness if you are a "gym rat". But if you're in the market for a good, affordable gym that makes their members feel welcome, then Planet Fitness the place for you. read more

Having a membership is is the cheapest that a gym membership can come by. But does that low cost mean you're getting all the perks? Definetly not but on the other hand, if all you want is a solid and quick gym workout, this won't be disappointing. They have enough fitness machines like treadmills for the basics and the design is the awful vomit-inducing yellow and perplexing purple as shown in other of these locations. Nevertheless, the colors may be horrible and the resources may be a little lacking but it's easy to sum up Planet Fitness here in one word......adequate. read more

Review based on visiting other PF locations. The place is dirty: from the moment you approach the doors, there's gum on the pavement, sidewalks all the way to the doors. Entrance isn't vacuumed. Upon entering, the workers are goofing off. You aren't greeting when entering or leaving. The machines frequently don't show lbs on the plates, so I'm lifting plate #4 or #6... Who knows it its 50, 60 or 70 lbs. The weight bench I was using yesterday was uneven. Nothing like benching your max and having the bench tilting back and forth. The place seems packed with no rooms for lifting when it's just moderately busy. People generally don't wipe machines down, bottles seem to be near empty most of the time. And there's no wifi at this location. read more

If you like a place that punishes you for working hard then go here. I have never been to a worse gym. Slogans written on the wall like "no judgement," "no critics," except they judge you if a weight accidentally drops, or you make any kind of noise. Only 75lb dumbbells, only one flat bench barbell, one incline bench barbell. PISS POOR GYM Yes the place is huge, but there is no assortment. Same equipment over and over. Oh yeah they frown upon guys wearing a sleeveless shirt, but the fat girl crawling on the tread mill can wear tight pants and a tight tank top. Its cool if you want a dress code and rules, but this place has double standards This gym is aimed at lazy house wives who dont want any results. One positive - good selection of cardio. read more

This place is disgusting. The machines and ladies locker room/rest room are always filthy. Today they have NO paper towels for the few people like myself who actually clean everything they touch. Ask the desk and they just throw their hands up in the air and say we just don't have any more. Seriously? The employees spend more time behind the desk on their phones or talking than cleaning. I told them about 4 .... Yes 4 broken treadmills over a month the ago .... Still aren't fixed. Dont waste your time or money coming here because it is very obvious that the management and staff don't care about their customers. read more

Love how close to home this is and it is always a clean and comfortable environment. The staff is always friendly and it is open almost every time I want to work out. The only reason this location gets a star is because of convenience of location. I went to this location last night and it was disgusting. I didn't see a single person clean their machines when they were done. Then I went tanning after my workout and asked to use a standup. On the way to the bed she put me in I looked in the other rooms on the way not one bed had the "This bed has been sanitized" sign on it. I went into my room and again the sign was not in the bed it was in the shelf. So I looked in the floor and there was candy wrappers on the floor of the stand up! Gross. So I went back out and said "Can I please have a different bed that one has not been cleaned." She said "What bed do you want?" And I said "Whatever one is clean". So she brought me into a different bed and the floor was disgusting I can tell it hasn't been swept there was big pieces of dust on the ground. The inside of the stand up I could tell hasn't been wiped down either. I will NEVER return to this location again. I live in Brockport and this is the closet location for me, but I would rather drive all the way to Henrietta for a cleaner experience. Disgusted. read more
