This review being made is towards leadership. I have been a paying member to this location for 13 months from January 2022-Feb 2023 and attended regularly. Equipment: is clean, presentable, sanitized via their checklist and routinely taken care of by the hourly staff. When equipment issues occur, the staff (if extra are available) rectify it with great care. Maintenance comes in with professionalism and handles business. 5* Locker Rooms (Male): Lockers are plentiful and if you require a lock, they have them at the front desk for sale along with other products (bags, water bottles, lotions for indoor tanning, and goggles). Cleanliness of the area is great. 5* Hourly Staff: Unless it's a trainee, the regular hourly staff are professional, cordial, speak with manners and eager to help you. They're friendly and give a welcoming experience. If an issue occurs, they want to help you to ensure you enjoy your workout experience. 5* Appearance: The upkeep of the facility is acceptable. Normal usage of walkways are apparent and cleanliness of it is maintained. Only issues when inclement weather is happening and it's as expected. Equipment is showing wear and tear and has the old PF equipment and waiting swap out. 4* Planet Fitness Trainer (Black Card): Location no longer has a trainer and does not know when one will return. If you want one, you have to go to a different center if you're a Black Card. I find this unacceptable as I'm paying for a service at a location that authorizes one. 0* Leadership (Club Manager & up) The Club Managers there are respectful, cordial, knowledgeable, and professional. Pleasant experiences with walkthroughs, equipment help and how to use it. 5* Regional Manager requires people skills, leadership skills, understanding body language and not rely on Rule #16 of the catch-all-be-all. They are out of touch with reality. 0* Overall It is a fitness center and not a gym. This is to get acquainted with working out, help you understand, strengthen, and learn the proper techniques for free form lifting which is offered at gyms. I enjoyed my time there with the people and staff and I ended membership because I disagreed with the regional manager's view on treatment of staff. Two instances in 6 weeks when the employee scheduled to open has not been at the club on time to open. Sunday, March 2 and Friday, April 11. Both days the club opens at 6 and the parking lot has been filled with customers hoping someone would show up soon. Customers commit to paying their dues. The club needs to commit to their hours of operation. Especially opening hours. Most people plan their schedules around going to the gym and I would argue there is enough interest to open the gym at 5 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. read more

I asked for a recommendation for one of my therapy exercises and both men ignored me to continue chatting with each other. I have also gotten sick twice now since joining this specific gym!! This a great, no frills gym! Plentiful equipment with no wait. The gym is clean and many windows contribute to a bright, inviting environment. This establishment certain subscribes to its parent company motto of no judgement zone. From beginners to fitness enthusiasts, everyone can feel comfortable working out in this location. The locker room and bathroom facilities are well maintained and clean. The most compelling feature of this location is the space. There is more than sufficient space between you and the next guest, especially important during these times. There is more than enough equipment for one to get imaginative with their workout and try something new. And of course, the more traditional free weights section is well-stocked and organized. The separate and section permits one to grab a mat and perform floor exercises to tone and define. This location is definitely recommended. Look this review is for THIS LOCATION ONLY. I came in tonight first time ever at this location. When I walked in the girl at the front counter did not say a thing to me. ok cool whatever but she was instead singing her heart out to her phone and talking on her phone like she was video taping herself. I thought it was a bit odd but again not my problem. I asked her if she wanted me to sign the clip board because my home location is brighton and from what I was told I had to do that if I was not at my home location. She said Nah this is your home location your fine. I shrugged it off what ever. Everything was fine work out was good no worries. The gym itself is not bad BUT I wanted to use the total body red and my sister wanted to get a massage. Now we are both new members to planet fitness. I came from a different gym that did not offer any services like this, so I had questions. I did not get a single answer out of this girl at the counter and instead she seemed very annoyed that I was talking to her. She eventually just said I don't know what you want and I was done asking questions and just signed my name on the board and went in. I was pretty upset with her attitude towards me and my sister and honestly I don't think I will be going back here. I wasn't mean I was trying to be very kind because I work in customer service but put a smile on your face or something and don't be so rude. If I was being rude understandable. but I just asked her what do you offer here and how do I use the total body machine. Recently went to this gym and immediately caught Covid. I was sick for almost 2 weeks and finally got back to myself. I went again and you'll never guess... SICK AGAIN. Caught COVID for a second time after going to this gym. That lets you know how much they care about cleaning. Employees were literally HIDING in the locker rooms just to NOT do their jobs. (There were 4 people on shift and not a single one did their job). AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS!!! Go to any other location but close this one down. I was visiting Wixom and wanted to wrk out..I usually use the Holt Mi. Facility..Which is Awsome by the way...They set the bar.. The PF in Wixom was ok..good space and Machines..But the shower area is Lame! No changing stall for disabled..or anybody For that matter..I'm not that shy..but when your a overweight guy..and your a bit disabled ..No one wants to watch you struggle to get dressed..it's embarrassing. And the Shower in the handicap stall was a joke! No water pressure..no place to set soap and shampoo...come on guy's... You can do better. read more

Horrible gym! Horrible service! Zero recommendation to make this your main location. I cancelled supposedly literally one day late to avoid being charged next month's fees. I even asked the manager and they said no. Ridiculous. Why I hate planet fitness. In response to owner, I never received a copy of my original contract (paper or email). I understand there is a policy; however, I am less than a full 24 hours past the 7 days in advance which is ridiculous. You could easily make an exception for myself and others. I should have read the reviews first because you obviously care more about making money versus good customer service. I don't want to knock this place too hard because a) they're constructing an expansion of their gym in the space next door, so they'll spread out a bit once that's done, and b) their staff is actually really friendly. But yeah, this Planet Fitness is cramped. Their cardio and weight machine selection is understandably basic and limited (no captain's chair or more than 1-2 full service racks... for cardio, just the basic treadmills/bikes/ellipticals). There's barely any room to walk between things. They're overdue for expansion. I imagine the expansion will alleviate the space issues, but they also need to add a little variety to their available machines. It's no guarantee they will do so once they open it up. So given that, I have to knock them for having a basic gear selection, and because when it gets busy getting your planned workout in may be tough. Still, again, the people who work here are friendly. The other gym-goers aren't particularly problematic. There's plenty of parking. As a gym, it's alright. read more

I've been going to this gym since its remodel in summer 2019, and I love it! It's always clean, staff are kind and try to learn everyone's names, and all the equipment is clean and works. I 100% recommend this place to anyone! TIPS IF YOURE WORRIED ABOUT HOW BUSY THE GYM IS WHILE YOURE THERE: this gym gets quite busy "right after work" (~4-7p on weeknights). If you don't mind being around so many other people it's fine to come in during this time, but if you prefer fewer people around you while working out like I do, try early mornings, anytime before 4p weekdays, and anytime on weekends. If you like to be almost alone while working out, come after 11p and you'll almost always have the place almost to yourself! read more

This is my gym. Based on location this one is closest to me so I find 30 minutes out of my day, everyday to get my cardio in. Most of the time I dont have any issue. Its only busy during 12pm-2pm and in the evening 5-7pm. If you're looking to workout in solo or less people come EARLY morning 4am-6am or late night after 9pm. Its nice to know when the crowds come. Working out for me has really helped with my depression and overall energy level. Just give it a shot! They have LOTS of cardio machines and a decent amount of tanning beds too. Theres CLEANING happening all the time at this location, and full hand sanitizer and paper towel stands everywhere! A germaphobes dream. My mantra, do 30 minutes of cardio a day... push yourself just enough to get that heart rate between 155-160 and you'll get the results you want! Everyones worth the effort. Carpe Diem! read more

This gym is always clean, has the best price point in the area and has genuinely friendly staff. They are currently working on adding some new things which I'm interested in seeing. I use the black card membership and have never had a problem going to another gym, love the massage chairs and the red light booth. I've never tanned so can't attest to that! The only thing I'll say is there are basically no free weights here, which aligns well with the PF mentality but can be a downside to people trying to build functional muscles and tone. If you don't know what I mean try doing a squat with and without the guiding rack, there's a huge difference in how much work your muscles actually do! The free bagels and pizza are great too, but really don't help me lose weight. Never had a problem here, but the lack of free weights loses it a star for me. Again, this is standard for all PF locations that I know of. If you are looking for something cheap, clean and friendly I definitely recommend this gym. read more

I have 3 gym memberships and I keep this one because it's close to my job but I never attend unless Lifetime Commerce is closed for remodeling. The reason why I don't attended is because this gym is not designed for people like me who take their workout serious and go to the gym to get fit. I don't go to the gym for "free pizza"!? Free bagels?? Worse of all is when I tried to use a few different sets of weights at one time, I was told your only allowed to use one set at a time!? Who created this type of mentality? Obviously not someone who knows about exercise, super sets, interval training, etc!? The gym itself is clean and the staff is nice. My pet peeve is with the concept. 15 cardio machines "Out of Order" I was told because they have one maintenance person for all of their franchise.

For $10 / month and a yearly fee, it's a nice place to workout. The equipment is new and the staff at the desk is friendly. The facility is very clean and employees can often been seen dusting equipment, ledges, etc. Some complaints: machines aren't organized logically (eg similar machines might be next to each other or far away), the revamped locker room is much smaller making it less ventilated and more smelly. While no fault of the facility, some members sit (rest?) for long periods on a machine. (A 60 second clock or one with second hand would be nice to keep track of rest time.) Also, some don't wipe down equipment simply moving from one machine to the next. Overall, most members keep to themselves so you never feel intimidated or judged. You can't weigh yourself (even though they are sponsored by the Biggest Loser) because they don't have a scale. All told, Ive been a member here for years so it must be a good place. read more

Ok.. I love this gym!! The gym is very clean, and is open 24 hours a day 5 times a week, and the other 2 nights it closes around 10pm. The staff is very nice, always smiling, and some staff members even greet me by my first name each time I come in. The gym is right next to a Right Aid and Kroger as well as several gas stations. Don't sign up at this gym. The staff can be extremely rude and couldn't care less for your business. If you try to cancel your membership before the contract is up due to this poor customer service they will bill you outrageously and not even think twice about it. Going there was by far the worse experience I've ever had. People pop in and out of the circuit trainer just to use a machine. The weight machines that they do have, I hope you don't want to get a continuous workout in because people will just sit there texting away and tie up the machine....the staff does absolutely nothing to prevent this. This gym is good if you're looking for a place to continue being fat. They ACTUALLY HOLD bagel days (which are terrible for you) and PIZZA NIGHTS. It's like you're trying to lose weight and they dangle terrible foods in front of you? That's disgusting, but I guess it's their way to guarantee you come back. On top of that if you move away and forget to cancel you need to write a letter (which they later notified me you need a signature in). Five months and three letters later they finally canceled, but not after charging me for one more month, which was about 20 days after I sent the letter. Refund? Nope! The Manager Jessica(?) reminded me with a very very happy and friendly voice it's in your contract! She also ASSURED ME that she never EVER misses the mail, not since JANUARY when she got there. She even told me the USPS lost a piece of her mail and she can understand, but just won't do anything. Thanks Jessica. You suck at your job. This is a very weak gym, I recommend powerhouse fitness. My wife was charged a cancelation fee for terminating her membership that was started the same day as mine. When confronted and asked to have our money back for a fraudulent charge, the front desk said they can't issue refunds from the facility and we would need to contact the regional manager. Not only did they refuse to give me ANY contact information for the regional manager (JOSH LEMONS), but when I contacted the manager for the Novi facility, she redirected me again to the regional manager who has ignored my 10 emails to him. Be prepared for a complete lack of company structure if you need any help at all. I am still in the process of trying to get my money back from them. read more

Do not sign up at this club unless you want to be monitored by a control freak general manager who is in her 20s. I was a member of the Planet Fitness location in Novi Michigan, at Pontiac Trail and Beck Road, as long as that location has been opened. Recently I was harassed by the general manager because I was not fully aware of the circuit training rules and was doing my exercise routine the way I have done it for years. I was skipping machines because there was no one in that training area at that time. On that particular day I was skipping the leg exercises because of a sore leg. Instead of a calm supportive conversation to discuss the situation, I was written up by this girl for not following the rules. No one has ever accused me of ignoring rules and I never had this problem at any of the other Planet Fitness locations while doing the same routine! The Novi Planet Fitness location is ridiculous. If you want 20 year olds following you around and watching everything you do, then the Novi Planet Fitness location is perfect for you. If you want to get a good workout without being micro managed, do yourself a favor and find a different gym. read more

Planet fitness is probably the worst gym I've been too. In the middle of winter I got yelled at for having my sweat shirt with me in the gym, if I wasn't wearing it it had to me in the locker room or behind their desk. My job moved me across the state, because of their own incompetent employee gave me bad information I ended up being charged for 2 extra months, and both manager and corporate refused to refund me, even though I had sent in a letter cancelling my service. Also, the manager actually had the nerve to yell at me on the phone when asking for a refund. They obviously don't understand customer service. I was also never refunded my start up fee even though I cancelled my service within 15 days, per their contract. Please, save yourself time and money and go to a gym where you can actually get a good work out in and you don't have to worry about the extremely unfriendly, unethical management. read more
