I called the planet fitness in Oxnard and they told me to come on in and they would set me up my son and I went in and offered them cash money credit card debit card offered to pay for a whole year in advance in anyway they wanted and the only way they said they could do. It is with my bank routing numbers. I had to turn around and walk out with no membership after driving that far. We were from out of town we needed a shower. They misled us. I could not possibly recommend this place to anybody unless it was my worst enemy not even my worst enemy would I recommend this place? read more

This gym is definitely worth the investment. It's fairly priced and offers excellent value. I particularly appreciate the crowd meter, which shows real-time data on how busy the gym is. In comparison to two other local gyms I've tried, the crowd here is much more manageable. There is an ample variety of machines available, so I never have to wait around or deal with people being distracted on their phones. The facility is impeccably clean, and I love the multiple disinfectant and paper towel stations placed around, ensuring that everyone can easily clean up after themselves. Aside from one instance where a lady seemed distracted on her phone and a bit grumpy, everyone else has been friendly and welcoming whenever I've walked in. The additional perks, like the Black Card and guest pass, are a great value--especially for the price--and put it ahead of many competitors. Overall, I highly recommend this gym. I've been to a lot of these planet fitness as I travel a lot, and I have to say that the outside place is kind of sketch where it's located. However, inside is small but mighty. Very clean facility with everything you need. I do feel that I might've showed up on a day that's light traffic as it was super not busy. Not that many people in there and easy to finish your whole complete workout without having to wait. I didn't get a chance to do the Hydro bed and it's kind of awkwardly located as most have it where it's kind of secluded away from all the noise. This one is exposed to all the noise so it's kinda hard to relax but overall, this gym is absolutely a good place to have a good workout if you live in the area. read more

So I'm a little frustrated with Planet Fitness right now, specifically in terms of their water fountain. They have two water fountains, right next to each other in front of the locker rooms. One is supposed to be used for reusable bottles only and the other for drinking water. However, I use whichever is working better, which lately seems to not be both water fountains. The water pressure is so light that you have to put your lips on the spout in order to get water, and even before Covid, I wasn't risking that. Eighty perfect of the time both fountains only work to make you feel forced to choose between putting your lips on the spout - or being forced to choose dehydration if you didn't/don't bring a water bottle. The last time I went, I worked out so hard I was dripping sweat and needing nature's fruit juice - water. Unwilling to get cooties from the fountain, I asked the front desk lady if she could give me a bottled water and explained the fountain situation. "This week's bottled water delivery hasn't come in yet," she answered. I looked at small fridge behind her and noticed it filled with energy drinks and non-water drinks. Ugh. So try to remember to bring your own water, get cooties from the water fountain, or pass out from dehydration. Dealer's choice. read more

Their cancellation policy online says that you can cancel online and the highlighted "manage" option is interactable with your mouse but after clicking it nothing happens. So, I refreshed my page and the option disappeared and I was prompted with a message that tells me to contact my home club. One of the reasons for signing up for a membership here was the 30 minute express workout. They staff never monitored that area and I constantly had to request for staff to simply do their job and monitor as I am not paid to ask people to use the area as intended. They removed the area so no more express which is one reason for the low rating. In addition to the removal of the express workout area the staff isn't as friendly/ helpful as it used to be. Jacob was a really friendly and helpful staff member who obviously took his skills set to a better work environment. Staff member juan who may have replaced him has a poor attitude and is a massive downgrade from Jacob. Restroom cleanliness is poor, not a busy gym during the time I come in so not sure why they don't have staff cleaning the locker room, restroom, shower area. Wasn't never the cleanest but again I've noticed it in worse shape recently, likely again due to the new staff being inferior to staff from a few months ago. read more

Today Thursday, July 17th when I was leaving the gym I heard a young kid on the phone talking to his mother telling her to sign him up at Planet Fitness. He told her that it was free for kids this summer. I think that is wonderful PF is doing this. However, this now explains why there are so many kids in the gym standing in groups at machines not using the machines while playing on their phones. Because of this it is now harder to use machines since you have to wait till they decide to do their workout or move to another machines. People sitting at machines on their phone aren't just young kids but it has gotten a lot worse lately. read more

Only been going like three weeks and so far I like the place. The reason I joined this gym is they have the 30 minute work out area where you do workouts against the clock and move from station to station where a red or green light tells you when to start the exercise and a red light tells you when to move on. Fantastic method and concept to get back into shape for a person like me. Downside is that so far every time I've been there, and I mean every single time there's always at-least one person sitting at a machine on there phone for at least 10 minutes and there are always one or two people using 1 specific machine to do sets where the machines are supposed to be used in sequence. I've asked people politely if I can use a machine they are just hanging out on to complete my workout and have gotten nothing but attitude. I've even been told they have to finish their "set" and I have to wait. I understand they can't hire a guy to work as a security guard in that area to make people comply with the rules. I think they need to put up large no phone signs with a picture of a phone and a red line through it and larger signs in in both English and in Spanish instead of the 6-8 inch plaques they are now using to explain the rules. Also maybe a small mirror opposite the red/green light so you know when it's time to move on when your back is against it and you can't really see it. read more

I am no longer a member after one year. I take into consideration that the gym is old, but there are so many repairs that need addressing. When you turn on the showers, the knobs fall off, and the water runs cold after five minutes. It is just the opposite with the sinks. The water is hot, so if you don't visit the dentist on a regular basis, and your brushing , the plaque will come right off your teeth. The toilets also don't flush properly. There are always temporarily out of order signs posted in the women's locker room. Arrived around 5am to get in a quick workout and the gym was already busy. This is the busiest I've seen any gym at this hour. It was busy but not overly crowded. Parking was easy and I didn't have to wait for any equipment. The layout of the gym was quite easy to follow. Areas were divided into the following: locker rooms, 30-min workout zone, 12 min abs, cardio (a ton of it), functional 360 training area, weight machines, free weights, and the black card area. There were no saunas. The gym was well equipped, well maintained, and clean. I always appreciate their cleaning stations and I'm grateful that, for the most part, the gym members clean up after themselves. The locker rooms and showers were also clean. The female locker room had 3 showers and 2 changing stalls. Staff was friendly. Great gym and freeway close! read more

Would give ZERO stars if that was an option but unfortunately it is not. At the beginning of the year, I made the big mistake of getting a membership with Planet Fitness. I have been trying to cancel my membership for about six months now. I send letter after letter (which, by the way, is stupid because why does a gym need a letter to cancel a membership???) and I would get no response. It got to the point where I called my bank and had to put a block on my account so the payments wouldn't go through yet Planet Fitness STILL found a way to charge me. The payments would go through with the Planet Fitness name, but this month, since I had the block, they charged me with their phone number. At this point I'm going to have to cancel my current bank account and get a new one. I have NEVER had this much trouble canceling a gym membership. read more

I often only have a limited time to workout and I get frustrated when others hog the machines for 15 to 20 minutes watching videos or playing games on their phone without even trying to pretend to actually use the machine and the workers do absolutely nothing about it. read more

Funny thing is.... Outside the gym, there is a billboard advertising how clean this gym is. I have been to at least 20 different planet fitnesses and this one is by far most unsanitary one I have ever been to. The sad part is that this gym is not a busy location which would indicate that this is just due to laziness or neglect. I could not even refill my water for most of the time that I was there because the fountain was so disgusting. I hope cleanliness becomes an actual priority at this location so that my next visit can be more comfortable. read more

Worse experience. Their Camarillo located manager Anastasia is very unprofessional and doesn't try even to have good customer service. She tried to cancel my membership, since I didn't have Silver sneakers on as part of my health insurance. Instead of calling me on the phone and starting with, " hey your account isn't billable to Silver Sneakers and longer, let talk about what we need to do to make your account still stay open", she started with we are unable to bill Silver Sneakers any longer so I have to cancel your account. She is one of the worse managers at a gym that I've ever dealt with. I ended up going to the Oxnard location and this wonderful young man named Jacob helped me and yes, I ended up having to cancel the 1st membership and sign up again, but he did it in such a way that I didn't feel upset as he walked me through it. I do not see myself ever going back to the Camarillo location again because of the terrible manager they have there that doesn't know how to really help someone with their membership in a positive manor. read more

Can't complain you get what you pay for, Ive been a member with this gym since November '17 which doesn't say much for acouple months, I do live in the area and recently left 24 at the collection another neighboring gym. I love the fact it's 24hrs, small and closer to home. Being sensitive to hearing I can deal without a lunk alarm In what is supposed to be a judgement free zone yet getting judged lol go figure!! The Atmosphere is great and I love a small gym feel and at $22 a month You get what you pay for and you can bring any guest here with you it may not have a steam or sauna which I wish it did. But it's not a killer. If you love a small gym feel this is Definitly the place to go too! I love how They have added more stair machines the last year now and keeping equipment clean and operating. A huge bonus has been when NUTRISHOP OXNARD comes in and sells supplements and at times getting that free Inbody scan to keep fitness goals going! And they come with BCAA samples to drink! I've been coming here since it opened. Staff had been great but recently there are these girls who take hours doing washing the restroom. I like to workout and shower right after because hello hygiene. And I take my kids so showering after for all 3 is a mission. But these girls are like rude about the shower being washed. This is the second time in last 2-3 months the water fountain is broken. So no drinking water in a gym, and they won't give you a complementary water. They still make members pay for it. There is always a piece of equipment broken, which takes months to fix. The stair master, only 3 out of the 5 work . They've been broken for going on two months. The gym is nasty, all the staff does is walk around with a duster. Men's locker room always smells like motor oil. Do I have a black card or the basic $10 membership? Who knows because the staff allows everyone to enter by giving "a phone number" , and allowing everyone to use the massage chairs and the other amenities regardless of membership status. I've been to PF in North Carolina, Mississippi, and several here in Southern California. The Oxnard location is probably the worst in California. read more

Parking is Ok even during peak hours 5pm - 8pm. Gym can be a bit overcrowded during peak hours. Locker room (Mens) well maintained not sure about the (Womens). Gym Equipment stays in good condition except step masters which seem to break down often. Overall cleanliness of club very good & Front Desk staff friendly especially Daniel. I am updating my review since they have since improved. I upgraded to a black card which is $22 a month hopefully no hidden fees. I can bring a friend for free which I love and can cancel anytime. It's not bad. I signed up, and then set up an appointment for a trainer to go over some things with me due to the fact that I have injuries from a car accident, and I'm not used to working out with injuries. I decided a trainer could help me figure out what to do without further injuring myself. Arrived on the day of the appointment, had my gear ready to do a work out, waited around for quite some time, and then the trainer I was scheduled with came over to the table I was told to wait at, apologized, and told me he didn't have a lot of time, about 15 minutes, because he was "off to L.A.". Oh good, I just love being rushed through something that I made an appointment for. What a great first impression - NOT! He gave me some advice on paper, not at the actual equipment. Um...isn't the point to show me what you're talking about and have me do it to make sure I'm understanding correctly? Telling me, "on this one, just do this" doesn't really help me. It was so impersonal, and...well, rushed, that I didn't feel confident that he was making good recommendations. But hey, I could just "join us over there" (pointing to a corner of the gym) any time I wanted. Uh, no, I don't want to join a bunch of other people, I want to be able to come in here and work out in a proper way so as not to cause more injuries to my injuries from the car accident. How about you all call and set up a new appointment with me instead of treating a brand new customer this way? Thoroughly unimpressed, I only used the gym for showers after that. The showers are constantly being cleaned, the locker room is clean, the gym itself appears clean, doesn't stink like sweat, and they had some other things to use - some light thing they claimed would help with reducing problem areas - of course at an extra charge. I moved a few months later, totally forgot to go in and cancel my membership, sigh, so I called up, got the information of what they needed, got my certified letter, sent that off - and am waiting for them to answer the phone to let me know if that has been done. I did get a charge on my card, but I believe that is just a delayed charge for the month - so I understand that, but will not accept any other charges. We'll see. Right now, everyone is freaking out about the Corona virus so I have no idea if they are even open since i don't live in the area - website says it's open, but who knows. I have tried to call a few other times and they seem to have a big problem answering the phone - another reason for losing a star - but I sent that certified letter last week. If I have any further problems with this cancellation, stupid over hyped virus or not, I will come back and reduce more stars. It could be a great gym to go to, far less than the laughable rate 24 Hour Fitness wants to charge - which they won't even tell you in person, they're that embarrassed by how much they are overcharging, (and unlike PF, you're subject to annoying booming garbage music) - but I think the customer service could use a whole lot of improvement. Answer the phone, don't rush someone through their scheduled appointment. If you advertise personal trainers, then make sure it feels personal. read more

I haven't been to any other Planet Fitness's so I can't compare this location against the franchise standard, but I have been to other gyms, mainly 24hr fitnesses. Compared to other gyms I find that during the peak hours, it's just as busy and during the off hours, it's really really empty. If you've stepped inside you'll know that there aren't too many machines if you're looking to build muscle but there are enough variations of machines where if you're flexible on your exercise, you'll be able to get your muscle group worked. I feel like the facility is well maintained. Generally the members are good about wiping down the machine right after use. I have never gotten to a seat and had a stench rise from it yet. I have experienced that at various 24hr fitnesses. The restrooms and changing rooms are clean also. I have heard the infamous lunk alarm ring a couple times during my time here at Planet Fitness. Just don't drop weights on purpose or yell while getting those reps in and you'll stay in the clear. In terms of dress code, you can wear tanks but the rule is no nipples showing when bending over. That however is also dependent on who's running the shift. I've seen guys with clothing like loose racerbacks and not be called out. read more

I've had a membership here pre COVID and could not complain, all was great. Canceled for personal reasons and joined once again about two weeks ago. Mind you I have gyms that are far closer to my home but I felt comfortable at this gym so I chose to come back here. Long story short gym hours have changed and are constantly changing which is understandable but what is not okay is the way Gabe (supervisor) was approaching everyone Saturday night 2 minutes prior closing. So rude and unprofessional. I confronted him by the way he approached me and he proceeded to "apologize" with an attitude both in tone of voice and body language. I do not tolerate rude behavior when it's uncalled for. The other staff members are great but if he is a 'supervisor' and expects his team to follow his example he is not doing a good job. There is much more details held within the conversation but I prefer to direct them to the gym manager and not expose on a public review. The customer service at this club is phenomenal! I always enjoyed working out here and the friendly and helpful demeanor of the employees was always great! Unfortunately I moved out of the area during the pandemic, while everything was closed, and needed to cancel my membership. I contacted the main offices via email and they gave me the run around and we're not helpful at all. When gyms opened back up and I was able to get ahold of someone, I was greeted super nicely on the phone by the assistant manager Nova and she was able to help me with everything I needed from 2,200 miles away! First off I would like to address Mayra and Glenn's reviews. I do agree with Mayra as far as the woman's attitudes in regards to the restrooms. There was one occasion when a female staffer got really rude with me while I was walking in. She stated a plumber needed to go in to fix a shower. I told her I needed to use the restroom first and could not wait...she got real nasty to me..... I walked in anyways... nature will not wait.... lol. In regards to Glenn's review... the place is NOT filthy and is constantly being cleaned. One time the water machine was not working, and the desk employee offered me a free bottle of water. As far as broken machines....only a few occasions when a leg machine was broken. I love Planet Fitness! I've been working out since the late 70's and have been to numerous gyms during that time period: 24-hour, Anytime, LA Fitness, Gold's and even high-end Spectrum Club in Thousand Oaks (Heather Locklear working out at machine next to me).... this club is cleaner than most and the employees are super helpful and polite. read more

Planet Fitness has been a delight to go to and has great pricing. I had to cancel unfortunately because I just stopped going for like a year and it was fine because they weren't charging me because of the Virus, but then they started charging me again and I wasn't planning on going back to a gym due to still being cautious with COVID. The attendant upfront at 11:30am on Monday March 29, 2021 was super helpful and made the process BEYOND easy. Just a signature away.
