They will keep charging you even after you cancel. I was billed for months for my girlfriend's recovery membership that she never used and was supposed to be canceled. They also overcharged me for personal training sessions I couldn't attend, and sold us a boxing membership only to get rid of the boxing coach almost immediately. When I asked to cancel, they still kept billing. Every time I talked to management I was told it would be handled, notes would be added, and corporate would follow up. None of that ever happened. Operations manager Tony Avila told me multiple times he would take care of it, but that did not happen. Honestly not sure what "operations manager" means here because nothing was managed and none of the problems were fixed. To make it worse, I later found out the sales staff who signed me up are no longer there because of shady practices, which lines up exactly with what happened to me. Most of the regular staff are nice, but management did nothing to fix the problem. Be very careful what you sign here and watch your bank statements. 1 star added bc i like most of the staff are dope. read more

The gym is consistently clean and very well maintained, which makes a huge difference in the overall experience. Even during peak hours when it gets busy, there's such a wide variety of equipment and workout options that you can always find a way to get an effective workout in. I have been a member at all the big-box gyms, as well as several other privately owned gyms. And I can say UFC Gym is very different from all of them. I will start with the good. The classes are great. Instructors are very good at leading the class. The classes cater to all audiences, from experienced to brand-new, and from young to old. The staff is friendly, there is a good community at this gym, and it is easy to make friends. There is a good variety of gym equipment, and it all works well. The outdoor area is nice and also has some good equipment back there. The bad... customer service for UFC gym is absolutely terrible. Complete crap. I am mainly talking about calling the company for anything. For example, I wanted to reset my password for the UFC gym app; a small task like that is taking over a week to resolve, and it still hasn't been resolved. There is a separate organization that handles all the billing, which makes things even more complicated. This is the most corporate gym I have ever been to. They will try to make deals with you on absolutely everything. I went to look at the supplements they sell, and, of course, one of their sales reps came over and tried to talk me into an offer. Like, dude, leave me alone and just let me see what you are selling. I made the mistake of signing up for personal training. The workouts themselves are pretty good, but they talk so fast, and it's so loud in the gym that I really did not know what I was signing up for. The sales rep did not tell me it was a separate charge for the training. I was under the impression that the membership and training were one flat rate. .. they also charged the wrong card for my most recent billing cycle. They make it so complicated! Be careful if you have two cards on file! It just seems kinda skammy at this point. Simple tasks take forever to get handled; it's just not worth it anymore. Be very careful doing business at this location. Review your contract and monitor your bank account closely. This review is specifically for the UFC Gym in Oxnard and my experience dealing with manager Anthony Vargas. I signed a contract for 12 training sessions at $85 each ($1,020 total). Instead, UFC Gym charged my account $2,040--double what was agreed. I have spoken with Anthony Vargas and staff multiple times (at least 7 visits). Each time, I'm told the issue will be fixed and a refund is coming. To date, only $680 has been refunded, and another $680 is still owed. Despite requesting that my account be frozen until this matter is resolved, they started pulling money from my account again. At this point: * The billing error is clear * Management is aware * Promises have been made repeatedly * No resolution has been delivered This is not just poor service--it's unacceptable billing practice and lack of accountability. Came into the gym tonight (06/30/25) only to find all the handicap parking spots were blocked by some taco truck. This is a clear violation of ADA and California VC. I notified the front desk, but they did not seem to care. I have been in the gym for over an hour and they do not seem to be moving anytime soon. I like the cleanliness of this gym, but the customer service could really be better. The staff usually seem distracted and don't greet or acknowledge members, even when you're trying to check out or get help. I also wish the sanitizing wipes were refilled more often. On top of that, trying to downgrade your membership is way harder than it should be. read more

Motivating environment, everyone seems locked-in and respectful. The gym has a vast range of gym equipment, it's well maintained and the hygiene is excellent. I personally, choose this gym because it has a dry sauna. The training environment is a huge plus. I just wish they were open 24hrs 7 days a week, including most holidays. read more

I've been a committed member at UFC Gym Oxnard primarily because of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) program led by Coach Sardinha. His expertise, dedication, and leadership have built a strong, loyal community around him. Unfortunately, the management at this location continues to undermine both the program and Sardinha himself. They regularly take away his classes, limit his input on how the program should be run, and bring in less qualified coaches--compromising the integrity and quality of training. Reducing your quality from a 4th degree black belt to a purple belt is crazy. It's clear that many members, myself included, are here specifically for Sardinha. If he were to leave, it would definitely cause a major decline in membership. Yet, management seems indifferent, prioritizing profit over people and showing a disappointing lack of understanding when it comes to community building and long-term member satisfaction. Their poor customer service extends beyond member. it's visible in the way they treat their coaches. It's disheartening to see a respected coach like Sardinha be sidelined by a team that lacks both marketing strategy and genuine interest in developing the programs that actually retain customers. I am beyond disappointed with how this gym is being managed. If changes aren't made to support the BJJ program and Coach Sardinha, I'm sure many of us will reconsider our memberships. read more

Pretty uninviting, from the management team to the lack of music on a regular basis it doesn't feel like you are welcomed. The manager seems to not care about anything gym related and she makes it seem like she's "better" than people. The machines are basic to what you would see at any other big box gym. I've seen 100s of staff come in and out and from what i heard it's due to management. And frankly, it shows, supplements are consistently out of stock, music is constantly off due to employees not having access and staff seems to always been "upset" over the way management treats them.Other than being open earlier than usual, this gym is no different than any other local gym, i advise to take your business elsewhere. read more

If you're cancelling your membership PLEASE check your bank account. I cancelled mine in person, signed the cancellation and received a copy. I just checked my bank account and have been getting charged every month despite cancelling. I called the gym twice they said they would fix it but I'm still getting charged. I then asked to speak to the manager and kept getting sales reps instead trying to help me when they didn't do anything the first time around. After being placed on hold for an HOUR to speak to the manager Bryson, he asked me to email a copy of the cancellation to another manager so they can look into it and refund me. This shouldn't have even happened in the first place and making me do extra work when it was their error to begin with is honestly ridiculous. Why are they so on it when you miss a payment and are constantly calling you but the moment they start stealing from you they go silent. Everyone needs to sign up or adjust their membership with the manager Don. I can clearly see why he is the manger there. Others might make you feel poor or uncomfortable with their sales tactics or the way they speak to you or approach you. I've heard EVERY person that I spoke to that goes to other gyms tell me the same thing for why they don't go to UFC gym. They feel it's for people that have more money or are from a higher class income bracket in society. I work a minimum wage job, but I save more money than I did going to other gyms. I used to go to 24 hour fitness to lift weights, because they are the only gym that has all the equipment I needed, and they have really good pricing. Unfortunately, I also train striking and grappling. I had to pay for bjj at Gracie, and Muay Thai at a gym that specializes in that. It was expensive altogether, but cheap for the quality of training I was looking for. After paying for this and paying all my bills, I was left broke every month. I met Don at my work and we got into a conversation about it. I came and visited his gym. I saw that UFC not only had all the gym equipment that no one else except 24 hour had, but they had even better equipment than 24! He reasoned a price for me that made it obvious to me that there was no reason to stay at 24 hour fitness. He knew from our previous conversation that I also trained martial arts. So, he added that to my package. I'll tell you why I allowed him to upgrade my membership: altogether he saved me hundreds of dollars by training everything I needed at UFC, instead of multiple other gyms. I even sat down and ran the numbers of serval gyms I attended before and their pricing. I may look bad to the staff for saying this, but as someone who is looking out for the people, you need to go talk to Don the manager to sign up. Don't go to anyone else. They mean well, but they might make you feel inadequate unintentionally, or maybe uncomfortable in any way you can think of. Don will make you realize what this gym has to offer you personally. I never go to anyone else, no matter how much I'm approached. I stick to Don. He will work with you if you barely have any money to spend, like I once did. And, if you can afford even a tiny bit more, he'll hook you up with the absolute best deal you can get for that price. He understands us regular folk. Now that I'm making more money, he's the MAIN reason I spend hundreds every month on my membership, extra private lessons, gym clothing, supplements, and whatever else. The secondary reason is my main coach, Stanley. If you are doing bjj. He's the one that will teach you better than any other gym I've been to, especially with how nice he is and how comfortable he'll make you feel. Please choose him, if you want private sessions! You'll be grateful you did. Such a good guy that will have you catching onto the techniques easily and progress without stress or awkwardness. Again, thank you Don for helping me in my financial issues, and changing my life for the better! UFC has become my life now, and I can actually afford this lifestyle, because of you Don! I wear UFC gear and have a UFC bumper sticker on my car now, because UFC is life! I feel happy and confident more than ever before. Don and Bash made my experience with UFC great and very easy to want to continue my journey of fitness. Don assisted with my membership and signed me up with Bash for my one on one training. Both of them went over all the details of members and training routines. Neither of them made me feel pressured or overwhelmed like some other gyms that try to push on extra programs or fees. I jiu-jitsu sparred with a guy (who turns out has anger issues) and he sprained my knee after ignoring my tap out. 6 months later I still cannot run or twist my knee without pain and he attends every class. Management said the equivalent of 'that's tough' and did nothing else to ease or stop this from happening again. Pros: Gym is clean and lots of cardio equipment to use. Childcare hours are pretty flexible compared to other gyms. Cons: customer service/management. I bought a training package and the trainer I used at the time was great and worth it. But I knew if he left, I would have to use my package with another trainer. He left and management said they would arrange another trainer. Twice I showed up at the time I was told to show and no trainer showed up. The front desk didn't know what to do and all the managers were "occupied." No explanation or respect for my time. I asked a manager to call me to discuss my options and still haven't heard anything. These "no show" appointments were over a week ago. It was not a cheap package and it's incredibly unprofessional how things have been handled. read more

This gym refuses to cancel your gym membership and makes it impossible to cancel over the phone, email, or any other means unless you go in person. They don't answer calls. They don't answer emails. Their parent corporation ABC Fitness solutions says they cannot cancel either (ridiculous). In short, they make it incredible difficult to cancel and want to continue charging your credit card. They had the best jiu-jitsu program with an instructor who truly cared about his students, they got rid of him and now the program has gone downhill along with the gym. The cryotherapy machine has been out with an unknown ETA of when they're going to fix it. Beware if you sign up and pay for any training it does expire and no one bothers to tell you. The trainer I was working with knew how busy I was and never bothered to tell me that my sessions were going to end so I lost out on eight sessions that I had prepaid for. I had a trainer who never kept track of what we were doing so I was always having to remind him of where we left off and what did and didn't work for me. Wonderful Gym and patrons, extremely clean God awful customer service, especially when it comes to a billing issue. As mentioned in other reviews, you will get the run around and deceptive salesmanship from their staff. I canceled my membership and found a charge on my credit card 3 months later. When I attempted to contact the manager Denise she failed to respond to my multiple emails and phone calls for 14 calendar days. Not even a simple acknowledgement. I finally got fed up and went into the gym to deal with the issue in person. I was saddened when I didn't get to meet Denise because she was on "leadership retreat". Thankfully the front desk staff could help me, but not in time to prevent my card from getting charged for the next month of service that I previously canceled. Denise finally emailed me 14 days after my original email. Saying nothing but generic answers and not reading any of the previous emails explaining my situation, she went ahead and canceled my membership (that her staff helped cancel the other day) making it seem like she actually did something. Of course after sending her a follow up she called me back right way and wanted to talk. Dear owner of UFC Oxnard, your gym itself is great, top notch equipment and facilities, front desk staff are helpful and friendly, cleaning crew does the best job of any gym I have ever seen. Love love love this gym. It is a bit pricey, but I do feel that you get what you pay for. What's really convenient are there are different membership types depending on your budget. They have a vairety of different classes as well, HIIT, boxing, yoga, Zumba, spin, jiu Jitsu etc. They also have Access to a sauna, cryotherapy, red light therapy, massage chairs, and Thera massage guns. Not to mention a wide variety of equipment both indoors and outdoors. This place has everything I look for in a gym, AND it's always clean. After investing in numerous private lessons, the highest tier of gym membership and retail items, I would hate to part ways with you because of the unfair treatment to my Coaches. Most recently you've replaced a 4th degree black belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Professor (a title that can on only be earned through decades of practice, technical excellence and recognition throughout the BJJ community. The aforementioned accolades were earned under the original Gracie family who founded Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) with a purple belt student Coach for No-Gl class??? As a woman who practices BJJ amongst other martial arts, I've worked with numerous coaches and martial arts practitioners. There are few I trust, amongst them the Professor Sardinha, who has been instrumental in my BJJ journey. When I found out that Professors women's self defense seminar was canceled due to his gender, it was really upsetting because women, myself included, could have benefited from a highly skilled black belt instructor who has had many years of experience teaching self defense class to women in particular. I am a both a domestic abuse and sexual abuse survivor. I found your lack of support for Professor Sardinha's teaching offensive. Professor Sardinha is a highly skilled instructor, over qualified to host a self defense seminar for women, and held in highest esteem by his female students. It was only through his personal promotion of the women's class that we became aware of its existence. It was slated to be a very successful seminar til you decided to sideline the very person who would have made it a success. We, the women of UFC Oxnard, boycotted the class as a show of protest of the unfair treatment of our Professor Sardinha. read more

I'm appalled by the treatment of our beloved jiu jitsu teacher, Sardinhaj, who is a 4th degree black belt from Brazil. The management threatens to take away his classes for not selling private lessons and to replace him with a purple belt instructor. When our professor went to talk to the managers to resolve the issues, they have made themselves suddenly unavailable. They have taken advantage of his inability to communicate properly given he's a Brazilian immigrant and English is his 2nd language. When our instructor asked for the absurdly loud music volume to be lowered so he didn't lose his voice, he was told, "this is not a jiu jitsu gym." We have daily classes, dozens of child and adult students, belt promotions, and competitors. Against all odds, Sardinhaj created a legitimate program while facing daily opposition by his own employers. Clearly, this is just an excuse to disrespect the needs of the instructor and its paying students. The gym has no appreciation for jiu jitsu or actual fighting, despite pretending to represent UFC. They have turned over dozens of instructors here, who have dealt with similar issues. The management here needs serious overhaul, just look at the other reviews. If you're reading this Denise, Slava, know if this lack of regard for the program continues, you'll lose dozens of clients, far more than what would be made up by forcing a few private lesson sales. Let the instructors instruct. Don't have your instructors make up for your lack of effective marketing. This is what the management had to say about their customers: "During a meeting, in front of others, the owner told me that the gym doesn't operate like a school for kids and, in their view, students don't need to be involved in the decision-making process. He made it clear that the management makes the decisions. This was said directly to me, in front of everyone." Clearly, they're not concerned with the needs or opinions of their customers, comparing them to school children. This is why nothing has improved and the same problems continue to happen. What can I say about UFC Oxnard? They've changed my life! No, seriously - they're not paying me to say this, I promise! The entire staff are incredible - well, except that one guy. JOKING! The ENTIRE staff is awesome. From the moment you walk in, you are warmly welcomed. I don't know everyone's names but here's a quick list of the all-stars: Brandon, Collin, Kat, Don, Kaylee, Angel, Brendan, Giovanni, Evgeny... the list goes on. I walked into this gym around March - new to Oxnard and new to fighting sports (other than what I'd learned from YouTube at home). The coaches I've worked with gave me the best introduction to fighting sports I think I could have had. They have been extremely helpful and have gone above and beyond to teach me not just technique but also recovery. I cannot express higher regard for the coaches, especially Brandon, Collin, Kat and Giovanni. I've never been so comfortable in a gym before - the environment is very friendly. This place is a sanctuary. My advice: don't be cheap, seriously. This gym has a lot to offer and you get WAY MORE than you're paying for. Get the big boy membership and try out the classes & all the other amenities they have. GET A COACH, it's well worth it! They offer a free first session which they overdeliver and give you so much value even from that. These people care about what they do for a living and are the real deal when it comes to being invested in their members. UFC is a great brand. Unfortunately, this gym is not what the UFC brand and its subsidiaries expected to have as representation across the world. UFC Oxnard is a complete scam and rip off that has EXTREMELY questionable billing practices - they double bill, over charge, and don't freeze your account (or, cancel it) when requested. We've had to fight for over $1,500 in refunds for a year at three different intervals in various amounts. We've finally given up and have waived the white flag of canceling our memberships. We got most (not all) of our money back and will dispute the rest with our credit card company and/or small claims court. We had multiple in-person conversations that were with Don Tan verbalizing their billing mistakes and guaranteeing a refund. Weeks passed - no refund - so we went in again to talk to Don as well as following up with numerous emails. His attempts to lie and coverup his mistakes are pathetic but apparently the owner, Slava, doesn't catch on to his laziness/poor customer service. 3/10 do not recommend. Where the facilities and the classes are amazing, the workers, specifically the manager Don Tan and Brian Castillo (off principle), are not. I joined UFC Oxnard summer 2021. On November 16th (I have the proof), I spoke with Dan to cancel cause I was going on deployment and long story short - he said if I still didn't want to keep my membership come in December 15th. I go in today, December 15th, and he says I'm still going to be charged because I didn't cancel in 21 days. I told him how am I being charged when HE was the one that told me to come in on this date. He claimed he never said that and that he would never give clients false information. I asked to speak to his boss and he said he doesn't know his information and he was just going to refer him back to me anyways cause word for word ITS HIS WORD AGAINST MINE and then turned his back on me. I asked Brian, the guy I signed up with and the guy that was there the FIRST time we had the conversation in November and he's like oh oh oh IDK and turned away as well. Not to mention, I joined a challenge through Brian and was supposed to get a free personal training session and every time I tried it said the person he wanted me to book with was full or some other lame excuse, to the point where I just said forget it I realized this place is just out for your money and to get commission. I should have listened to the reviews where they said cancelling would be hard but I did not expect that from this establishment and DEFINITELY did NOT expect to be told, "it's your word against mine". Today, the staff dropped the ball and I cannot begin to express how dumbfounded I am with their lack of communication with one another. Both of my kids (7mo & 2y) were in the kids club with only one staff member. I was in the jiu jitsu class so my phone was in my bag. As I finished up I notice my phone had multiple missed calls. My baby daughter needed a diaper change, and my son had defecated on himself as well. At what point would it be necessary to have some sort of communication between the child care staff and front end staff to go look for the parent? What if this was a life threatening emergency? I honestly can't wrap my head around the level of negligence that was on display tonight. This level of neglect was the last thing I would've expected. I don't expect the staff to be overly caring for each child but wow, no attempt to go look for me? What is the point of indicating my location when I check in my child if NO ONE will come and search for me? My only location was on the mats. The response I received from the child care staff member was ridiculous to say the least. The reviews speak for themselves - a lot of complaints followed by generic, diplomatic responses from the gym. UFC in Oxnard is awesome. Everyone has always been nice, but Don is over the top. Remembered me from when I signed up 6 months before they even opened. He has worked with me when I had some situations with relocating etc. Just an over all great experience from the whole gang. The owner is very personable and has a good vibe as well.
