Let's start with the good. It's clean, staff seems somewhat pleasant. Now the bad: 1. people ignore the signs stating no phone calls in the gym blatant, and regularly. No one wants to hear your phone conversations over their music in their headphones. 2. ignorant and inconsiderate members using multiple pieces of equipment at once (dumbbells/ machines), sitting on machines scrolling phones, when busy (especially now since 1st of new year), members "dancing" in between sets while occupying machines when the gym is overly busy, which is often. 3. Absolutely ZERO communication or updating of website/ hours on Google or App. You literally have to drive TO THE GYM to see if it's open. Today, I went as it showed open online, and a huge sign on the doors stating they were closed due to a water leak.....no updates made to the app, or online. Ridiculous. 4. Pleasant staff, but NO ONE polices the floor, attends to broken machines, or deals with members not following rules. They basically ignore it all or if you mention it, it's an "ok, thanks". I get that it is a PF and cheap. But rules are rules, and this gym just gets busier and busier, and when they remove equipment, or don't have enough, people don't care, and do what they want, and staff does nothing. Frustrating. I go in and work out as quick as I can, BC I can't stand being in there with ignorant people. read more

Had wanted to file a complaint due to rude treatment by another member who gave me an attitude for trying to hold door open for them.. when went to report the issue to request a refund for member dues & manager screamed at me "to get out" in a rude way and then called the police on me . So I had a membership with this establishment for over three years. I went a hand full a times. I moved to another town and didn't know I could transfer cause they told me I had to cancel the Warwick membership. So I did. I went to the Woonsocket address they said I have to pay a first time new membership of 60$. I said I cancelled yesterday. They said sorry. They said your membership is good to 10/17. Then today they took out another payment from my back on the 10/18. I called them and now there saying I am not a customer but I have till the 11/18 then my membership is over. I will never join a gym membership again. Very poor customer service and communication. I will have to call my bank and make sure they don't steel anymore money from me. read more

I've been to almost all the locations in RI + this one is my LEAST favorite. In fact it is closer to my house than the one I usually go to in Providence. WHY? Because of several reasons: 1. IT IS NIGHT NIGHT TIME IN THERE. It is so dark. WHY??? Do they not have lights/want to use them? 2. Soooo many teens. Like a bagillion of them on their phones... pretending to 'work out'. 3. Staff is pretty quiet never really say hi or bye. 4. Did I mention it is WICKED DARK? If you want to fall asleep on the treadmill next to justin bieber this is your kinda place. I love PF + think it is a great gym for the price-- you can't beat it. But this location has no energy. read more

I have to say this is one of the best Planet Fitness' that I have been to. I have a Blackcard, so every so often when I am traveling I will check out another gym. This Plant Fitness has stairmasters, tons of treadmills , ellipticals, TRX machines, etc. I will say they could use more benches and machines that help to build glutes. The benches always seem to get moved but I think the back area in the gym could definitely benefit from having at least two benches. The staff are pretty nice, helpful, and welcoming at this gym, I have not had any issues with any one. Especially Michael, the assistant manager - he is very friendly and appears like he really enjoys his job. I saw that another Yelper said that sometimes the music is too loud and I would have to agree with that. Anyway I would definitely recommend this gym to others. read more

Absolutely obsessed with this gym! Very clean and all the workers here are very friendly. The gym is always well stocked. The bathrooms and showers are gorgeous. The people at the front are very helpful and wonderful. I had a different home location and asked why I had to sign in every time I came and they explained I can only go to a different location other than my home 10 times a month. They helped me switch to this location and have been great ever since. They always greet you at the door and say good bye when leaving. I also love the gym because I find this location really is a judgement free zone. Everyone just comes here to work out and have fun read more

I'm amending to five stars, because, you know time passes, you let go of minor annoyance. Oh yeah I can see some don't and they should hope people aren't objectively rating them. This PF is clean, air quality is good, for .33 per day, if you have them less than three stars you are a fricking monster face it. Learn how to rate reasonably. Previously I rated four: The ONLY reason this PF doesn't get five stars is, I turned on TV in front of massage chair and it happened to be on CNN and the President happened to be speaking. Within ten seconds a staff member said " What is that annoying sound?" Let me tell you staff member, I didn't pick the channel, and regardless of my politics or your politics, keep your mouth shut. I don't need to worry about your reaction to CNN or the President. Your unsolicited blurting was the most annoying sound all day. Putting that aside, it's a great PF because the air quality is generally very good compared to others. read more

It's a gym Planet Fitness has over a thousand locations and is still growing. It's easy to see why, it's cheap and convenient. I've been to several in different states and they all have the same advantages and disadvantages. This particular gym has a decent selection of free weights and some decent resistance machines. Nothing special but good enough. The aerobic machines are numerous and usually in good condition with lots of treadmills, ellipticals, and five cool stair steppers. Enough machines so you can almost always get one without waiting, although it might be next to some idiot prattling away loudly on their phone. The locker room is on the small side but usually clean and nicer than in many gyms. The shower stalls are huge but definitely have a problem with hot water. Sucks having to take a cold shower after working out hard. The manager said he would address the problem but apparently the owner won't put in the money to fix the hot water issue. There are always people sitting around seemingly doing absolutely nothing but I guess if they pay their money that's their right. You might have to chase them away if they happen to be sitting and doing absolutely nothing on a machine you want to use. The most annoying problem are the phones. There is a no phone policy in the gym but it's not enforced. Always some self centered idiot that insists on talking on her phone, usually extremely loudly, while getting in the way of other people. Since smashing the phone or the person probably isn't a good option, there isn't a whole lot that can be done. Planet Fitness is a gym, a cheap gym that gets the job done. Allows you to work out without too many annoying distractions. And since there are so many of them, if you live in more than one location or state you can transfer your membership from one to another pretty easily, which is the reason I joined PF to begin with. Not a bad place to work out at all considering the price. Just have to remember there are some things that you'll have to work around and deal with. read more

After a strain of horrible experiences at planet fitness I revoke my comment. Planet fitness is horrible, not only the staff, but the die-hard fans. If zero was a rating, I'd rate it at a zero. And the trainer is/ was still rude, inconsiderate, uncompassionate, call me fat, call me dumb, call me what ever, I know my goals, I lost 50lbs last year and did it outside a gym. I had a lot of trouble switching my home gym to the providence one. they kept telling me to call the gym i want to join, to switch. i was like "homies that doesn't make sense, don't you have all my information?" so i called the providence one and they said that the Warwick Ave. planet fitness were a bunch of idiots. I love this gym. As long as your willing to work out independently and you are not looking for things like classes, a pool, steam room or sauna. GO HERE! it is the best $99 a a year I have spent. The staff is more then friendly and professional. They are always willing to answer questions, and go the extra mile. They greet me by name when I walk in. They have helped me make other connections in the community related to sports and fitness. The trainers are helpful but not over powering and allow people to work at heir own pace, They understand that making change is the client's responsibility not the trainers. They allow people to own their success and failures, but act as guides along the way. There is plenty of equipment I have never had to wait. The member population is diverse on many levels including fitness, age, race, and disabilities. The place is clean and safe. The only changes i would make are * Sometimes the Wi-Fi is glitchy * I would add classes, and if possible a pool, steam and sauna * They don't offer body fat analysis, so this means that the only way of monitoring progress, at least when in comes to body composition is weight. and you need to do that at home since there is no balance scale at the gym. To me these things are minor. The relationships I have built with both staff and members, convenient location and parking, the ease of of getting on the equipment with minimal wait and the clean and safe surroundings out shine these minor issues. Double billed me for first two months. The months of January and February. I notified, asked for a $20.00 credit. The reply, " it is our policy not to apply any credits". Dumbfounded!!! Cancelled membership on spot. Realize I wasn't looking for anything for free, just a credit for the 2nd charges (10 per month). They gained $20.00 but lost the $100 for the rest of the year at the minimum! Signed up in Seekonk with diff franchisee! I contacted my credit card company, they stopped the double charges. The credit card company said that the franchise has the opportunity to refute the dispute. They never did. On a side note, the person helping me at the credit card company stated, "I see this all the time with the planet fitness franchises." Pay close attention. read more

There are lots of things to like about this gym. It's clean, it has tons of elliptical machines and treadmills, so you never have to wait -- even during peak periods. They also have a large selection of weight machines and an adequate assortment of free weights. Plenty of lockers and ample parking, too. The staff is fine, although I find it annoying that they are *forced* to greet you and say goodbye. Every. Single. Time. This is supposed to be good customer service, but honestly it's overkill. Which is too bad because PF tries to be a bit "different" from your run-of-the-mill corporate gym. (And I have no issues with the staff -- they're doing their jobs, so I get it.) A couple of things I don't like: They open at 7 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Due to my schedule, the only time I can work out is early morning, like 4 or 5 a.m. I try to rearrange things so that I can get in at least one workout on weekends, but even that is a hassle. My number one complaint about this PF is the late opening time on weekends. Number two is that they sometimes play their music too loud. I wear headphones and play my own music when I work out, generally loud, fast music that keeps me going. Even with all that noise going directly into my ears, I can still hear their music sometimes. Not always, but often enough. They almost always play terrible music, too, which doesn't help. I realize that corporations have to pay for their music, so you get what you pay for. I just wish there was less of it to listen to. On a related front, they don't really enforce their no cell phone rule, so I sometimes have to listen to someone have a loud conversation while I'm trying to work out. This generally happens on weekends, when they open late. It's somewhat surprising that people don't know better. Then again, it's really not. Finally, even though a membership is "only $10 a month," if you include the annual membership fee (huh?) that they bill out of nowhere (yes, I'm sure it's in the fine print of the contract), it's actually $13.33 per month. That's still cheap, but it's 33% higher than they make you believe you're paying. If you went to the grocery store and they added 33% to your total, you'd feel ripped off. Or if the grocer kept insisting the groceries were cheaper than what you actually paid, you'd think the grocer was a liar. Same thing here. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure the annual fee is buried in the fine print, but the company makes a big deal about it being ten bucks a month, and it's just not. Again, this comes from the corporation, not this particular branch, but still. All in all, I'm happy with PF. Even at $13.33 per month, it's a good deal and I get everything I could ever want Monday-Friday. read more

I'm a recently returning member to this location after having left PF several years back. The improvements made since their 2016-17 renovations are a marked improvement! The gym is now larger, has more machines, cleaner and more spacious locker room facilities and more! Gone are the flimsy shower curtains; replaced with actual stall doors! There's even a space to dry off and get dressed within each shower stall now. Other locations still seem to have changing stalls paradoxically separated from the shower stalls. My only complaints are relatively minor irritations, but they are issues nonetheless: (1) Water temperature in the showers is wildly inconsistent. I realize this can be hard to mitigate, but water that's a comfortable temperature shouldn't turn scalding hot because someone in the locker room flushes a toilet. Every shower has a balancing valve so I'm not even sure how it's happening, but it is. A number of other reviewers have mentioned this and I can assure you it's true. Maybe the showers just need new valves. It doesn't help that the showers each have the valve handle in a different position, making it impossible to know how far to turn the lever in order to get a consistent temp regardless of which shower you're in; each shower is a temperature guessing game and experiment. (2) the center shower stall has been missing it's seat for at least four months. Seems like this should be a relatively simple issue to rectify. Again; minor issues, but even minor issues are still issues. read more

I've traveled all over the US and been to many planet fitness gyms and I have to say this one is one of the best! The staff is soooo helpful and friendly, there's plenty of equipment and it's set up perfectly, without a line of tread mills hovering over the resistance machines. The place is spotless and the bathrooms are super spacious with plenty of privacy unlike so many others that have there curtains about a foot to narrow for some odd reason. If you're in the area I highly recommend going out of your way to come to this gym! read more

Staff member took an issue to a very personal place, and today barked like a dog at me. Staff are smiling but hostile and judgemental.

Used to be nice. Not safe after 5pm. The cheap price is drawing in people from other neighborhoods, who are loud and ignore rules. Same happened to two other gyms in Cranston which no longer exist. I'm leaving and going to a safer, quieter place where the parking lot is also safer. Neighborhood crime is going up as a result of who this gym is bringing in. All of a sudden we have car breakins, package thieves, people casing out the neighborhood. The locals arent going there anymore. read more

Been coming here for years. They just did it over. The weight machines are not as good as the old ones but the cardio machines are the same and good. It's very big with Trx and a lot of ab equipment. The water is filtered but could be colder and could use another one in a different area since the place is so big. They just decided to go cashless ...so you have to use a card or wait and sign something everyday to get a water which is very annoying. I like to walk in put my dollar there and get on with my workout. They also need more hand sanitizer machines around the gym... there is only one near the front desk. The temperature in general could be lower. It's get very hot even at 5 am. They switched to different kind of paper towels that are non absorbent for sweat or spraying machines down read more

I have a planet fitness black card, I tend to travel to different gyms for work purposes. Every time I step into the Warwick Ave Planet Fitness, the same member roughly 6'1, wears black headphones, and acts obnoxiously. He interrupts many individuals work outs including mine and I feel very intimidated due to this. Being a member of planet fitness for many years I feel this is inappropriate. My understanding of Planet Fitness is they are the judgment free zone and I should not feel intimidated. During my workout, he approached me and told me that he could do better than my workout, which made me realize he is judging me. He also screams, is very hyper, jumps from equipment to equipment and never ever cleans them. I feel this is also unsanitary as he is dripping in sweat. Just walked out and will not return. Was just about to join a gym for the 1st time at age 44. The young man at the desk was very rude, unprofessional, and quite fresh. " Nothing in life is free you you know" a lot of people don't like that but that's just too bad " Is this how customers are treated and talked to here? My first experience in a gym, I'm going to need guidance, if I'm treated this poorly before I even decide to come here, how will I be treated after? No thanks. This is a solid gym for the money. It is pretty clean, the locker rooms are nice and there are plenty of machines, free weights to choose from and a ton of televisions to watch if you are on a treadmill, bike or elliptical machine. The staff are all helpful and easy to get along with. This isn't a steroid meathead gym, it is geared for everyday people who want to excersize at a gym and not a meat market. read more

ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was a member of planet fitness until I cancelled my membership 2weeks ago due to the highly inappropriate & unprofessional actions of the staff. I got my membership in Jan of this year & in March my fiance got a job at the same location I joined cleaning at night. The staff there by this time already knew full well who I was not only from being in there but the manager Christine had bleached my clothing in February while cleaning the bathrooms with bleach. I showed her as an FYI but she was rude & kept telling my "If I had the tags or receipt they would pay for my clothes" So having just removed the tag from the clothes that morning & having the receipt I brought it to her attention & she gave me the money for the clothing. So like I stated they knew who I was. So to the incident mentioned I went to the gym worked out & decided to go tanning. I went to the front desk & asked to use the tanning bed & Christine the manager & Bob the owner proceeded to start a conversation stating with Christine stating she had to come in that morning & clean because the place was "gross" & Bob stating "the tall guy isn't doing anything" (I knew they were speaking about my fiance because he is 6'9"). I told the girl at the desk never mind & left. Once outside I realized that the conversation was meant for me to hear & was very rude. I went back in & asked the girl at the desk to cancel my membership. I whispered to her what happened by she apparently already told the owner Bob that I had heard the conversation & he approached me & asked if he could address what just happened. He then proceeded to verbally bash my fiance & his job performance to me. I basically told him this was ridiculous & as I began to leave again he said to me "Are we going to debate this or are you going to just walk away"....So I told him I DO NOT work for him I was a paying customer & to take up my fiance's job performance with him & I then cancelled my membership. Later on that day he did call & fire my fiance & attempt to apologize. I taped a conversation between time & myself the next day proving what I stated above. I did tell him I would probably get a black card membership at a different PF & use his gym some times as allowed by that membership & he did clearly tell me NO as heard on the recording. Him & his manager are the rudest, most unprofessional people I have EVER met. Company business is supposed to be done behind closed doors, had they held that conversation in an office rather than at the front counter I would have NEVER heard it. Although I do believe it was meant for me to hear. As a customer I should have been treated better than that!! THEN TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THIS IS THE EMAIL I RECIEVED FROM CORPORATE: We have contacted the Warwick location regarding your complaint and have spoken to the district manager regarding this matter. He explained that you had overheard a conversation between him and the general manager regarding your boyfriend's performance at work. They explained that they had been speaking on how his performance was not to the level they had hoped it would be and that they, unfortunately, had to terminate his employment due to his performance at their facility. We apologize that you had overheard the conversation regarding your boyfriend's termination of employment however the district manager has already spoken to you on this matter and Planet Fitness is not at fault for your boyfriend's performance at the facility.
